Javed Afridi, the owner of Peshawar Zalmi, has launched a fervent appeal to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), advocating for Peshawar to be included as a venue for matches in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 next year.

In a direct email to PCB officials, Afridi expressed shock at the absence of matches slated for Peshawar and stressed the significance of hosting matches at Zalmi’s home ground.

His impassioned plea underlined the deep-rooted connection between the team and its fervent fan base in Peshawar.

Afridi further urged for collaborative efforts to expedite the remaining 20% of construction work at the Peshawar stadium, highlighting Zalmi’s proactive engagement in coordinating with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin.

Their scheduled meeting on May 13 aims to streamline efforts towards ensuring the stadium’s readiness for hosting PSL matches.

In a strategic move, Afridi called upon PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to establish a dedicated committee in Peshawar, signalling a proactive approach to guarantee the inclusion of Peshawar as a venue for PSL 10 matches.

Taking to social media to share these significant developments, Afridi exuded optimism about the collaborative efforts between Zalmi, the provincial government, and the PCB.

His post hinted at the promising support received from the Chief Minister and the PCB Chairman, setting the stage for an exciting prospect of PSL matches in Peshawar.

“Had a productive call with CM KP @AliAminKhanPTI. He has given directives to the sports department to release funds for the remaining 20% job at Arbab Niaz Stadium Peshawar,” Afridi’s post on X resonated with optimism and anticipation.
