Dr. Umar Saif, who is the chairman of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), has been honoured with the Pakistani Sitara-e-Imtiaz, which has been awarded in the field of Information Technology for the first time.

Under the leadership prowess of Dr. Saif, PITB has executed a vast array of projects which have facilitated the growth of IT to serve the betterment of the general public.

With the aid of ICT (Information and Communications Technology), Dr. Saif worked to solve civic issues and fostered and integrated IT in the domain of Pakistan.

Not just a Pakistani scientist but also a thriving entrepreneur, Dr. Saif has been honored with the third highest civilian award in the country.

Some of the expert projects completed by the PITB include a crime reporting sytem, I3C center to help Punjab Police, tools to improve healthcare, flood monitoring system and an electronic challan system.

Dr. Umar Saif’s work was also noted by the President of the World Bank in 2014 as one of three global examples of good governance.
