Changes Elon Musk Has Made Ever Since He Took Over Twitter

Elon Musk

Elon Musk changed Twitter’s site less than a day after completing his $44 billion acquisition of the company. Employees with knowledge of the situation who spoke on the condition of anonymity because their statements were made without the company’s consent said that he asked that the Explore page, which displays current tweets and news items, be diverted for logged-out users accessing Twitter.com. When logged out, the Twitter homepage used to display just a sign-up form, which encouraged users to create accounts in order to access tweets.

Although Musk didn’t specifically state why the modification was made, the message was apparent to the staff members who saw it: no more holy cows. Such a choice would have been debated over for weeks inside the old Twitter. But this was Twitter as it was then. That’s absolutely one way to show that you’re in control now, a former CEO told me.

Mass Layoffs

With less than three days under his belt as “Chief Twit,” Musk has already begun to quickly transform the firm from the inside out, as seen by his alteration of Twitter’s site. He has accelerated improvements to Twitter itself, even as he plans to fire a sizable percentage of his staff in the coming days.

Currently, staff members worry that layoffs will start before November 1st when a sizable portion of them is scheduled to get stock awards paid out in cash at $54.20 per share. Musk tweeted “This is incorrect” in response to a tweet referencing another article that claimed the layoffs will occur before that date shortly after this one was published.

Introduction to subscriptions

In a hurried upgrade to Twitter’s mobile app, Twitter also mandated that its premium subscription feature, Super Follows, be changed to “Subscriptions.” He has also talked of bringing Twitter to nations where it is now difficult to access utilizing Starlink, his satellite-based internet service at SpaceX.

Choosing who to keep in Twitter’s engineering team has been Musk’s first item of business. On Friday, Musk and Tesla engineers requested that engineers print out their most recent code contributions from the last 30 to 60 days and bring them in for assessment. Then, as promptly reported by Casey Newton of Platformer, they were instructed to destroy their printouts and instead display the code on their laptops.

In anticipation of Musk and the Tesla employees stopping by the company’s New York City headquarters on Monday to begin code reviews, some engineers have been obsessively following a Twitter account that records the whereabouts of Musk’s private plane.

Managers have been informed that Musk wants to filter out engineering managers who don’t frequently write code by using performance reviews to determine who can work as quickly and efficiently as he requires. “Software managers who can’t develop excellent code are equivalent to cavalry captains who can’t ride!” in May, he tweeted.

Meet This E-Rickshaw Powered By Audi E-Tron Batteries

Yes, the batteries powering this rickshaw are actual Audi e-tron batteries. Yes, you are quite unlikely to ever drive one.

Since this is a rickshaw and Audi isn’t really a player in that market, it isn’t officially an Audi. However, the four rings have played a significant role. Batteries aside, Audi finances Nunam, a non-profit organization that is delivering e-rickshaws to India, and the Neckarsulm team contributed to the development of the e-ricks. As a side note, daycare drop-off would be so much more interesting if Audi could make these, label them “e-ricks,” and put us on the list for them.

Nunam contends that beyond their “useful life” in an electric automobile, EV batteries have much more to offer. And we wholeheartedly concur. However, while we’re considering home power storage or living off the grid, the somewhat more charitable types at Nunam are considering that whole ‘helping others’ thing, providing people with access to renewable power by reusing batteries… which just so happens to minimize contamination and waste at the same time.

The strategy is very simple: when prototyping is complete, old batteries from Audi’s e-tron test vehicles will be removed, repackaged, and utilized for stationary batteries as well as in a fleet of Bangalore rickshaws. The large permanent batteries are charged by solar cells, and the batteries subsequently power the rickshaws day or night. And if you’ve ever lived in a region with that kind of latitude — such as southern India, the Philippines, Vietnam, the Caribbean, etc. — you’ll know that solar electricity isn’t exactly in short supply.

The manufacturer adds that the battery’s life cycle in an electric automobile has ended, but it hasn’t yet reached the end of its life cycle in an e-rickshaw. It is still possible to utilize it to run stationary devices like LED lights.

Now for the less apparent but far more Top Gear question: can they perform the wheelies if they have e-tron power and rickshaw weight? The e-ricks will feature modest electric engines since they “don’t need to be very strong, as rickshaw drivers in India go neither quickly nor far,” according to reality, which is typically a general fun-sponge. They’ll go on to warn us that these electric rickshaws can’t jump camels, fight off thugs, or smash through well-placed wall posters. Are they even driven by famous tennis players, or what?

Planning On Coloring Your Hair? 7 Important Tips You Need To Know

Dyeing your hair isn’t just a fashion statement it also has become a major form of self-expression. While the dream of achieving your flawless color goals is nothing short of exciting, things can be a bit tricky when dyeing your hair for the very first time. Be it ombre, balayage, highlights, lowlights, or streaks – every hair dye style requires a whole lot of maintenance and care.

If you are planning on changing the way your hair looks, here’s what you need to know.

1. Do Your Research

By reading this article, you’re already on the right track. No matter if you color at home or in the salon, it’s best not to dive right into it without any sort of prep. Finding the right tools or the right colorist for your particular head of hair is crucial. While you research, consider what kind of color change you are exactly going for. Some drastic dye jobs require a few salon visits, so keeping cost and upkeep in mind is always important before making any coloring decisions.

2. Estimate The Maintenance

Certain treatments take more maintenance and upkeep than others, so it’s important to consider that when choosing your color. According to stylists, the average time to get your roots touched up is typically four to six weeks. No matter how well you take care of your strands, fading is inevitable, and since hair grows about half an inch every month, you’ll have to get your roots redone in that time frame.

3. One Shade Down

If you are taking the plunge to dye your hair at home, it is advised to go one shade down gradually, say the experts. When you are choosing a box color, make sure you pick a shade lighter or half a shade lighter than your natural hair color. This plays it safe so you don’t end up with a color that doesn’t match your natural color.

4. Go Bold Or Go Home

If you’re looking for a low-maintenance shade, you might want to reconsider going ginger. The red color is the hardest to get, the hardest to achieve, the hardest to get rid of and also has the possibility of fading the fastest. says the experts. It’s the trickiest color that’s out there. If you want to go red, be ready to commit.

5. Consider Your Skin Tone

You may see a pic of Selena Gomez’s new highlights or Billie Eilish’s green strands and want the same, but before you run to the nearest salon or drugstore, keep in mind that certain colors will look different on different skin tones. Most colorists will do a consultation to help you decide if the color you want is realistic and if it’ll turn out how you envision it to. And if you need a visual, try doing a peek-a-boo strand, which is dyeing one lock of hair that hides under the rest of your hair, to see if you like the color.

6. Get The Right Tools

Dyeing your hair at home properly also is about selecting the right tools, so you’ll want to be extra careful in what gear you select. To get the job done correctly, Meaghan Scarlett a hair stylist recommends picking up tools like a dye brush, bowl, and latex gloves to help you out.

7. Stop The Heat

If you are about to try dyeing your hair at home, Wright recommends you stop using hot tools at least a week before giving it a go. The heat from straighteners, curling irons, and blow dryers cause brittle, dry, and damaged strands, which will not result in vibrant color.

Act Smart: How To Avoid WhatsApp Scams

One of the most widely used instant messaging apps in the world, WhatsApp has over two billion users. Given its popularity, it’s not surprising that some are attempting to use it as a means of stealing your financial and personal information. Through texts or phone conversations, scammers using the messaging app get in touch with victims while frequently posing as trustworthy organizations.

In certain cases, they’ll demand money while threatening to hurt a loved one. Because WhatsApp scams are continuously changing, some of them can be difficult to recognize. However, there are a few techniques to spot the most typical warning signs.

Types of scams

  1. Family Emergency Scams

Impersonation scams, often known as family emergency scams, occur when a con artist approaches the victim while posing as a relative. The con artist may claim that their phone broke and that they are now utilizing a replacement or a friend’s phone to persuade victims. The faker then demands money in order to cover a cost. For instance, the person can claim that their wallet was stolen and that they urgently need money.

  1. Government Impersonator scam

A scammer poses as a government employee or sends a text message that appears to be from a legitimate organization, such as the Internal Revenue Service or the Social Security Administration. Then, in order to avoid legal action, the person requests that you pay a fine or debt. They may even be aware of some details about you, such as your name or address. Keep in mind that government entities will never text, call, email, or even leave you a voicemail.

  1. Give away scam

Image Soure: Daily Mail

The target receives a text message letting them know they won a contest. The next step is to reply with personal information or click a link to receive your prize.

  1. Online romance scam

Online dating services like Tinder and eHarmony are notorious for having a high rate of romance scams. However, the con artist can persuade you to switch the chat to WhatsApp once you’ve been matched with someone through these dating services.

  1. Cryptocurrency scam

Trending cryptocurrency scams involve con artists posing as financial gurus and offering unrealistic investment prospects.

  1. Kidnapping scams

In this kind of deception, con artists get in touch with you and say they have abducted a friend or relative. Then they threaten to use violence if you don’t pay the ransom.

  1. Account takeover scam

In account takeover scams, you can get a text requesting fast attention for one of your online accounts.

How to avoid these whatsapp scams

  • Any mails for money should be avoided. To evaluate the matter, get in touch with the alleged individual or organization.
  • Any alleged relatives or friends calling from unfamiliar numbers should be questioned.
  • Watch out for any grammar or spelling errors. Error-free texts come from reputable businesses or services.
  • If the writer claims to be someone you know, think about if their writing style is consistent with how they typically communicate.
  • Ask the con artist a question that only a friend or family member would know the answer to.
  • Use none of the links or contact information provided in the text. Find the company’s or organization’s official contact details online.
  • Keep in mind that government entities will never call or text you. Never provide information about your financial accounts or personal data, such as your Social Security number or birthdate.
  • Put two-factor authentication in place. By using this security step, your Whatsapp account is protected from hackers.

Scientists Now Have A Cure For Nightmares

Scientists have found a way to fend off occasional nightmares. Sound therapy can also be used to treat nightmare disorder- a condition characterized by frequent nightmares that cause distress or impair the patient’s ability to function during everyday activities such as work or social situations.

Imagery rehearsal therapy (IRT) is one commonly used treatment method for nightmare disorder.

Sound Therapy For Nightmares

The method could boost the effectiveness of an existing treatment for people with chronic nightmares, say, researchers. According to experts around 4% of the general adult population might suffer from frequent nightmares at any given time, and nightmares are even more common for people with certain mental health conditions, such as post-traumatic stress disorder.

The technique refers to playing a sound that is linked to an uplifting daytime experience. They emitted this sound through a wireless headband while participants were asleep, reducing nightmare frequency.

“There is a relationship between the types of emotions experienced in dreams and our emotional well-being,” says senior author Lampros Perogamvros, a psychiatrist at the Sleep Laboratory of the Geneva University Hospitals and the University of Geneva, in a media release.

“Based on this observation, we had the idea that we could help people by manipulating emotions in their dreams. In this study, we show that we can reduce the number of emotionally very strong and very negative dreams in patients suffering from nightmares.”

Sound Therapy Observations

The observations noted by the researchers following the sound therapy course included fewer nightmares as well as more joy during their dreams, says study authors.

Three months later, people in the control group reported an average of 1.5 nightmares a week, while those in the sound group reported less than 0.5 nightmares a week. People given the sound cue also reported having more dreams where they simply felt joy.

“We were positively surprised by how well the participants respected and tolerated the study procedures, for example performing imagery rehearsal therapy every day and wearing the sleep headband during the night,” says Perogamvros.

“We observed a fast decrease in nightmares, together with dreams becoming emotionally more positive. For us, researchers and clinicians, these findings are very promising both for the study of emotional processing during sleep and for the development of new therapies.”

According to the study authors, the study has a relatively small sample size, so the results shouldn’t be seen as definitive proof that sound cues can help people chase away bad dreams. But if these findings are validated by additional, larger studies, then the applications of targeted memory reactivation during sleep might extend well beyond nightmare therapy.

Shell Pakistan Promotes Biker And Rickshaw Fuelling Safety

October 28, Pakistan: Shell Pakistan promotes biker and rickshaw refueling safety to its consumers and has launched a safety campaign, named “Ehtiyaat Bunay Hifaazat” (precaution means protection), aimed at creating awareness amongst 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers of the risks of staying seated on their vehicles while fuelling. An industry-level event was organized and attended by representatives of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC), and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in Pakistan to jointly collaborate and progress.

In Pakistan, there are approximately 25 million 2-wheelers and one million 3-wheelers.  In the last five years, an estimated 2,000+ fuelling incidents have been reported in the industry related to the aforementioned vehicles. It is important for bikers and rickshaw drivers to get off their vehicles before fuelling their vehicle tanks. This practice significantly reduces exposure to gasoline vapors during refueling, reduces the risk of injury, and allows time to react in case of an incident.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Executive & Managing Director of Shell Pakistan Limited, Waqar Siddiqui, said: “Safety of our staff and customers is of utmost priority.  We have embarked on a journey to create awareness about the safety risks while fuelling.  Many a time it is not an easy dialogue, nevertheless, it is an important one. We have learnt from other countries that have been able to inculcate these practices. Shell Pakistan is keen to bring about this mindset and behavior change amongst people and to help drive this industry change.’

Why Are TikTokers Curling Eyelashes In Their Sleep

Every day, we witness the craze that TikTokers always manage to take to the next level with their ‘sometimes practical but mostly bizarre hacks’. In a recent event, people on TikTok, have found a new way to curl their eyelashes and it sure comes with its own set of concerns.

The Curling Hack

The eyelash curling hack doesn’t require an eyelash curler and neither does the thickest mascara wand in the world. This hack only requires a sleeping mask that does its magic while you are sleeping and requires little to no extra effort.

Read More: 5 Mind-Boggling Facts About High-Heels You Didn’t Know

In a video with 7.2 million views and counting, TikToker @allyrbackus showed her followers how they curl their lashes naturally overnight — by sleeping in an eye mask.

Here’s the video:

@allyrbackus

#stitch with @alexis this is how i’ve given myself a natural lash lift over the past few months so i can stop putting chemicals on them every few months 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 #nogatekeeping #lashlift #lashes #lifehack #fyp

♬ original sound – ally

“I used to get a lash lift every three months because I thought that was the only way to make them look longer,” said Ally in the video, “but then I realised you can train your lashes to sit like this naturally over time. All you do is put the sleeping mask on, but when you do so, have your eyes open not closed.” “Put it on tight and then close your eyes,” continued Ally.

“You’ll feel your eyelashes go up like this,” and you will wake up to your lashes sitting up like this all day every day. Then once you put makeup on, even longer.”

Is The Hack Worth It?

The beauty gurus and professionals were quick to jump in as they shared why trying the hack can go sideways.

“Just because you can achieve a more lifted lash look by trying this TikTok hack doesn’t mean you should. Please avoid this dangerous trend; you are submitting your eye structures to unnecessary trauma and harm,” says Diane Hilal-Campo, M.D., board-certified ophthalmologist.

“This is very dangerous for the eyes. Your eyelids are meant to close completely when sleeping. Any exposure from a lack of complete eyelid closure can cause drying and scarring of your corneas (aka the transparent layer at the front of your eyeball), which can cause infections and potential blindness,” she continues. “Additionally, if the fabric from the mask hits the corneas of the partially open eyes, it can cause painful abrasions and scarring.”

Hygiene is another big issue with the mask. Not everyone tends to wash them often. Bacteria can build up in the fabric of the mask, putting people at risk for acne, infections, as well as styes and blepharitis (inflammation of the eye).

According to experts using a hydrating lash treatment after taking off your eye makeup at night before bed, working it into your lashes to hydrate them is the most safest and foolproof way to achieve the look.

These Hugo Boss ‘Bathroom’ Slippers Leave Everyone Speechless

Luxury brands have a way of selling their products at hefty prices – give it to their name, marketing, or the actual product. While we have seen everything from the Gucci kurta to the Balenciaga trash can, another high-end brand is following in its footsteps by releasing a pair of bathroom slippers that costs around PKR 10,000. However, this isn’t even the actual price. The pair, without the sale, is costing almost PKR 20,000 and netizens have lost it.

The Viral Slippers

The picture of the slippers went viral on social media and netizens indeed had a lot to tell. The first reaction in most people was very similar. Many compared the pricey slippers to the evergreen Hawaii chappals found in every Desi household. Needless to say, Twitter is having a field day.

“It’s a bathroom slipper dude!!!!” wrote one user on Twitter. Another stated, “Bathroom chappals getting their day in the sun.” A third user commented that you could find the same pair of slippers in Chor Bazaar for Rs 50.”

People were appalled by the lazy, prosaic design of the slipper and course, the price tag that seemingly did not match the creativity and thought put into designing the product.

Consequently, many opined that they would not pay more than Rs. 150 for a pair of slippers that looked like that. “Even if I become a millionaire, I won’t buy a chappal for this amount,” said one user.

The award for the best response, however, went to this particular lad who shared that he bought the same slippers for Rs.160. Of course, without a designer’s name attached to it.

How To Fall Asleep When You’re Stressed

People who suffer from anxiety disorders have problems falling asleep, and at some point, it can be difficult to distinguish between anxiety and sleeplessness. The reply can be both. The truth is that stress and anxiety can either start new sleeping issues or exacerbate old ones. Your mood is impacted by sleep deprivation, which can lead to irritation and occasionally despair. Here are some pointers to assist you in maintaining proper “sleep hygiene” so you may relax your body and mind:

  1. Be punctual

Even on weekends, go to bed and get up at the same time every day.

  1. Try relaxation strategies

Be aware. Try a relaxation technique that includes mindfulness, deep breathing, or meditation just before bedtime. These techniques all lengthen and improve the quality of your sleep.

  1. Avoid screen time before bed

Early screen termination Avoid using digital gadgets before night because the blue light they emit—including TVs, phones, laptops, and tablets—can disrupt your body’s natural schedule. Choosing a tech-free activity to relax can reduce stress.

  1. Warm showers do the trick

Take a hot shower or bath to unwind. Your body temperature will decrease as you transition from a warm bath to a cool bedroom, which will naturally make you feel drowsy.

  1. Count sheep

Sheep count. Although it may seem absurd, it actually works. Because maintaining mental focus on a single task allows you to wind down, this is the reason. Until you feel more at ease, you can try concentrating on your breathing and deliberately taking deep breaths in and out.

  1. Check your diet

For many hours prior to going to bed, stay away from caffeine, alcohol, heavy meals, foods that cause heartburn, and drinking a lot of liquids.

  1. Regular Exercising

Exercise consistently. Exercise is a fantastic way to reduce stress and has been proven to enhance sleep, especially for those who struggle with insomnia. But watch out for scheduling your more strenuous workouts too close to bedtime. Try to work out at least three hours before going to bed.

  1. Shift your mind or worry earlier

Try to avoid worrying at night. It can be very difficult to drift off when your mind is racing with worries while you try to go to sleep. Set aside 15 minutes each day to process these ideas. Making a to-do list or formulating solutions can help you manage stress and keep it from disrupting your sleep later.

  1. Herbal tea helps

Drink some herbal tea. The body can be soothed and relaxed by chamomile and other herbal drinks, which can facilitate falling asleep. Make it a mini-routine to conclude your night by combining it with a nice book.

  1. Don’t just keep lying down in the bed

Get out of bed and do something soothing till you feel tired, like that cup of tea and a book, if you are still having difficulties falling asleep after 20 minutes of turning out the lights (or if you wake up and can’t fall back to sleep after 20 minutes).

Say Bye-Bye To Fast Food Wrapped In Plastic – Here’s All You Need To Know

In the near future, your fast-food burger might be covered in seaweed. Fries, nuggets, and hamburgers can be a tasty treat. However, the packaging’s environmental impact can give you second thoughts. They frequently arrive in plastic that is resistant to oil. In order to prevent your treat from sticking, this packaging is frequently coated with environmentally hazardous compounds like polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), which contribute to plastic pollution. These synthetic compounds can build up in the environment and in people’s bodies.

A German biomaterials developer and Australian researchers from Flinders University have collaborated to develop a biopolymer based on seaweed. Dr. Zhongfan Jia, the director of the Flinders Institute for Nanoscale Science and Technology, explains that it is just as recyclable as paper. The structure of the seaweed extracts is comparable to the natural fibers used to make paper, according to Dr. Jia. The innovative specialized processes, which make minor changes to the seaweed’s grease-resistance property, do not compromise the coated paper’s capacity to degrade or be recycled.

Seaweed To Make An Impact

The South Australian coastline is home to seaweed. Now, the German biomaterials business “one five” is attempting to scale up production from the lab to the factory. According to Claire Gusko, a co-founder of the business, the device may be fantastic news for the environment. With this product, she claims, “We are able to lessen hazardous plastic pollution, and we are also employing feedstock that is environmentally regenerative. Cultivating seaweed helps to naturally restore marine habitats, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and lessen coastal erosion.”

MNCs Taking Active Steps

Even multi-nationals such as Nestle are taking active steps to reduce their plastic usage. Following Nestlé’s pledge in 2018 to remove all single-serve plastic from its range and to have 100% of its packaging recyclable or reused by 2025, these are some of the first official proposals that have been made public. The corporation unveiled the Nestlé Institute of Packaging Sciences in December of last year in order to achieve this. Nestlé will create and test new packaging options at this development center in Switzerland for use by all 2,000 of its brands, from Dog Chow to DiGiorno.

The corporation seems to comprehend the extent of the recycling problem, at least based on its public discourse. Although recycling many plastics is technically possible, it is frequently not very practical or profitable for the frequently privately held recycling centers around the world to actually do so.

We must use sustainable inputs upstream to guarantee that the goods are safe for the environment from conception to disposal.

Why Five Billion Phones Will Be Thrown Away In 2022?

Why Five Billion Phones Will Be Thrown Away In 2022?

According to study, a lot of consumers keep their old phones rather than recycle them. The cobalt in rechargeable batteries and the copper in wiring are precious minerals that cannot be obtained from used devices and must be mined.

Worldwide, there are about 16 billion mobile phones; in Europe, just around a third, are still in use. The “mountain” of electrical and electronic trash, which includes everything from washing machines and toasters to tablet computers and global positioning system (GPS) gadgets, will reach 74 million tons annually by 2030, according to data by the WEEE. The Royal Society of Chemistry, earlier this year, started a campaign advocating the mining of e-waste to create new goods, emphasizing how international instability, such as the situation in Ukraine, affects supply chains for precious metals.

Importance of E-waste

Magdalena Charytanowicz of the WEEE claims that these devices offer many precious assets that can be used in the development of new electronic devices or other equipment, such as wind turbines, electric car batteries, or solar panels – all essential for the green, switchover to low-carbon societies.

Only a little more than 17% of the world’s e-waste is now properly recycled, but the International Telecommunication Union of the United Nations has set a goal to increase that to 30% by the end of the year. It states that because it may include dangerous elements as it is one of the “fastest increasing and most complicated waste streams that harms both human health and the environment.”

According to studies by the organization Material Focus, there are presently more than 20 million functional but underused electrical equipment stockpiled in UK households, with a potential value of £5.63 billion. It also estimated that the typical UK family might make approximately £200 by selling unused technology.

The impact of Geo-political situation

According to experts, mining the Earth for precious metals to create new technology is unsustainable; hence there is an urgent need to increase e-waste recycling. It highlights how the price of commodities like nickel, a crucial component in electric car batteries, has skyrocketed as a result of global upheaval, especially the conflict in Ukraine.

Chaos in supply chains that allow the creation of electronics is being brought on by this volatility in the market for materials. This led to the price of lithium, another crucial element in battery technology, to rise by about 500% between 2021 and 2022 when combined with the jump in demand.

World’s Biggest Source Of Clean Energy May Be Evaporating Faster Than We Thought

The Three Gorges Dam in China is a magnificent structure that spans the Yangtze River and is so large that it could cover seven Wembley Stadiums with concrete and eight Empire State Buildings with steel. The Philippines might be entirely powered by its turbines.

How is the world heading to a clean energy crisis

The biggest power plant in the world, however, was strangely silent this summer. In late August, the water was still on both sides of the dam. Neither the typical white spray rising from the spillway nor the boom of water coming from the turbines could be seen. The reservoir has been considerably depleted due to extreme heat and a drought upstream, which has significantly decreased the plant’s capacity to produce energy.

An international hydropower dilemma that is being exacerbated by global warming includes the water problems of China’s famous mega-dam. Heat waves and droughts have caused rivers that feed reservoirs to shrink everywhere from California to Germany. Through September of this year, hydroelectric energy output in Europe decreased by 75 terrawatt-hours, which is more than Greece’s yearly use, while hydroelectricity output in China decreased by 30%. In September and October in the US, generation is anticipated to reach its lowest point in six years.

Are dams dependable in the near future?

Utility companies are being forced to reevaluate hydropower’s historic position as a dependable and quick source of green energy due to a harsh irony. Despite being the greatest source of renewable energy in the world, dams are becoming less useful in the fight against climate change due to harsh weather. In terms of planning power systems, the cycle provides “a warning signal,” according to Wenxuan Xie, Managing Con=nsultant at Wood Mackenzie Ltd. “You really need to consider the likelihood of severe occurrences and the possibility that possibly something you earlier considered to be extremely unlikely might occur more regularly.”

The issue is that there aren’t many green options that are equally accessible or versatile. On a global scale, hydropower produces more electricity than nuclear power and more than wind and solar power put together. Dams provide more than half of the total power in nations like Brazil and Norway. Furthermore, according to BloombergNEF statistics, big dams have traditionally been more dependable, providing electricity on average around 42% of the time as opposed to 25% for wind and 12% for solar. Additionally, grid operators may utilize them as dispatchable sources, which can be turned on nearly immediately when needed, like coal or gas. Unless there is no water, that is.

Renewable energy network to replace fossil fuels

The difficulties of constructing a strong renewable energy network to replace fossil fuels are highlighted by Hydro, particularly in developing countries that must also deal with growing power demand as per capita consumption climbs. As the expense of completing the energy shift rises, the drought difficulties also highlight the need to step up efforts to slow global warming, according to Li of Greenpeace.

We need to recognize there will be things we can’t prepare for or are too expensive to plan for. If we don’t address the issue at the core of climate change and cut emissions catastrophic losses will occur.
