On Tuesday, Garuda Indonesia announced its initiation of a promising endeavor to reduce emissions in the aviation sector. The airline is currently conducting tests on a Boeing aircraft, blending jet fuel with palm oil as part of efforts to cut down on fossil fuel imports and promote sustainable practices.

As the world’s largest producer of palm oil, Indonesia aims to expand the use of this vegetable oil in fuels, seeking to decrease its reliance on costly fossil fuels. This year, the country increased the mandatory mix of palm oil in biodiesel to 35%, the highest globally, up from 30% last year.

Garuda Indonesia’s innovative approach involves testing jet fuel mixed with 2.4% palm oil in the CFM56-7B engines of a B737-800 NG aircraft. The test, which began last week, represents a significant step toward supporting a green and sustainable economy. Garuda’s CEO, Irfan Setiaputra, expressed the airline’s commitment to pioneering renewable energy trials, making them the first commercial airline in Indonesia to do so.

What’s next?

Following the engine test, ground and flight tests are scheduled for later this August, as confirmed by the energy ministry. World Snooker Champion Ahsan Ramzan Arrested By Police

Ahsan Ramzan, the World Snooker Champion, was arrested and taken into custody by the police on Thursday night in Lahore as reported by different news sources. In a late-night operation, Green Town police in Lahore conducted a raid on a snooker club and arrested Ahsan Ramzan, the reigning World Champion in snooker.

During the incident, the athlete was taken to the police station and held in the lockup for approximately 15 minutes, during which he claims to have been subjected to verbal abuse. Ramzan asserted that he repeatedly informed the police about his prestigious title as the World Snooker Champion, but they allegedly paid no heed to his pleading, and the mistreatment continued.

Fortunately, he was eventually released 15 to 20 minutes later when one of his friends arrived at the police station to intervene on his behalf. Following the ordeal, Ahsan Ramzan has appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab’s caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi to take prompt action against the police officials involved in the incident

Just after the federal government’s recent decision to hike fuel prices, transportation rates for both intercity and intracity travel have surged by 20%. This is seriously getting out of hand now. A media report highlights that the increase in bus fares is particularly noticeable in Lahore. This fare adjustment applies to both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned buses, sparking concern among the general public as commuting between cities is becoming increasingly unaffordable for a vast majority.

The sudden announcement of the fuel price increase caught everyone off-guard as there were no prior hints or indications as to this. Today, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) stands at Rs. 273.40 per liter, and petrol prices have skyrocketed from Rs. 253 to a staggering Rs. 272.95 per liter.

Apart from the impact on transportation costs, it is anticipated that the rise in diesel prices will lead to a significant surge in the prices of general consumer goods, further burdening the public with rising living costs.

LG Display and BOE are struggling to incorporate Dynamic Island cutouts into the displays, a technology that enables the efficient placement of front-facing sensors and cameras. YouTube brings these ultimate entertainment services to viewers in Pakistan, who love to watch music video content. CAA Imposes Travel Restrictions For Pakistanis Leaving Country

In a significant development, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has implemented a new travel requirement for passengers traveling abroad. According to the latest directive, all airlines’ administrations are now obligated to check the polio vaccination cards of passengers before their departure. This directive applies across all airports and airlines, making it crucial for travelers to ensure their polio vaccination cards are up-to-date before embarking on international journeys. Possessing valid and updated online polio cards is now essential for all travelers leaving the country.

The CAA emphasizes the importance of obtaining updated polio vaccination cards once the existing ones have expired. This measure aims to prevent any and all efforts in preventing the spread of polio and safeguard global health. But will this be just more of a hassle for travelers or is it actually going to end up into a good thing?

Notably, in an earlier decision taken in June, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) lifted the requirement for passengers to present COVID-19 vaccination certificates and negative PCR test reports when traveling to and from Pakistan. Additionally, the 2% screening condition for COVID-19, which was previously applicable to passengers arriving from the UK, Gulf, and other countries, has also been abolished.
