With matches set to take place in Rawalpindi and Lahore, here’s everything you need to know about securing your tickets.

The sale of physical tickets along with outlet addresses will be announced in due course.

Whether you are cheering from Rawalpindi’s stands or Lahore’s vibrant cricketing atmosphere, the action-packed matches promise an unforgettable experience for fans.

In Rawalpindi, ticket prices range from a minimum of PKR 500 for premium seating to a maximum of PKR 7,500 for the VVIP Gallery.

For those seeking the ultimate cricketing experience, hospitality seats will be available at a maximum price of PKR 15,000, except for the first T20I where they will be priced at PKR 12,000.

For Lahore-bound fans, ticket prices start at an affordable PKR 300 for general seating, escalating to PKR 6,000 for the fourth T20I and PKR 7,000 for the fifth T20I’s VVIP Gallery.

Additionally, cricket enthusiasts can indulge in the luxury of hospitality boxes located at the Far-End building in Lahore.

Hospitality boxes for Thursday’s encounter will be available at PKR 600,000, while those for Saturday’s match will be priced at PKR 700,000.

Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium will host the first three T20Is, scheduled on April 18, 20 and 21 respectively.

1. Psychological Pricing Tactics

A deliberate approach to pricing that seeks to influence a customer’s perception and behavior is known as psychological pricing. Here are a few typical strategies:

Charm pricing: It is the practice of establishing prices with a .99 or .95 at the end. The theory behind this is that, despite the little discrepancy, prices ending in these figures are seen as being much lower than they actually are.
Prestige Pricing: For luxury items, some firms choose to utilize round figures (e.g., PKR 20,000 rather than PKR 19,999) to convey an air of exclusivity and quality.

Ramadan is a prime time for marketers to connect with their audiences by offering entertaining, engaging, and emotionally resonant content. That’s why we’ve seen some truly memorable Ramadan ads over the years. Here are our top favourite ads that capture the essence of this holy month.

1. Shan

A remarkable ad that beautifully illustrates how the holy month of Ramadan can unite people is none other than from Shan and is our absolute favourite. The ad portrays a young Chinese couple in Pakistan, where the wife struggles to adapt to the new environment. Everything, from customs to food, feels unfamiliar to her. However, she realises that food has the power to bring people together.

In a heartwarming gesture, she decides to make biryani for her neighbors. The reaction of her neighbours when she offers them biryani is truly touching and will surely warm your heart.

2. Coca-Cola

Another memorable Ramadan commercial is Coca-Cola’s 2018 ad, which serves as a poignant reminder of our shared bonds.

The ad follows a young Muslim girl as she observes the Ramadan fast. It vividly portrays her struggles in the scorching summer heat as she chases a bus and witnesses others around her enjoying food.

However, her day brightens when another young woman offers her a Coca-Cola. Unable to drink it due to her fast, the girl is touched when the woman waits until dusk, allowing them to enjoy the Coca-Cola together.

This 2 minute and 13-second ad evokes powerful emotions and underscores the message that our commonalities are stronger than our differences, uniting us all.

3. Mcdonald’s

In 2018, McDonald’s Singapore released a touching Ramadan ad that beautifully captured the essence of the holy month. The 1 minute and 52-second video feature a young McDonald’s delivery guy who begins his day with a pre-fast meal before embarking on his duties of delivering food orders throughout the day, overcoming various challenges along the way.

Despite facing obstacles such as using stairs due to a broken lift and assisting a man whose car had broken down, he perseveres. Just when you start to empathize with his struggles, one of the customers he delivers food to surprises him with a Happy Sharing Box from McDonald’s.

The ad concludes with the tagline “Share The Spirit of Ramadan,” emphasizing the message of spreading joy and happiness, which has always been at the heart of Ramadan.

4. Surf Excel

My favorite Ramadan ad is from 2016, as it beautifully encapsulates the essence of Ramadan—prioritizing the happiness of others above your own, which ultimately leads to your own happiness.

The ad depicts a group of young children assisting a street food vendor whose cart had become stuck. Together, they help him sell all his food, but their clothes get stained in the process. This is when Surf Excel cleverly integrates its brand with its well-known tagline “daag acche hain” (stains are good).

What makes this advertisement stand out is not only its compelling content promoting selflessness but also its seamless product placement.

5. Peugeot

Peugeot, in collaboration with creative agency Science & Sunshine, is showcasing a cherished tradition – the Misaharaty – in its latest campaign.

The Misaharaty, one of the oldest customs during Ramadan, refers to the individual who walks through residential areas beating a drum to wake people up for their pre-dawn meal before morning prayers.

In the brief commercial, viewers see a family continuing this meaningful tradition, much to the joy of one of the elders.

Men Benefit More From Looks At Work Than Women: Study

A groundbreaking study of 11,583 Americans conducted over a 20-year period has found that good-looking men are more likely to attain better jobs and make more money than similarly desirable women.

The research, conducted by scholars from the Polish Academy of Sciences, was published in the current issue of Social Science Quarterly.

The academics asserted, “Physical attractiveness affects both males’ and females’ intergenerational social mobility outcomes, but it holds greater significance for males,” challenging the traditional notion that physical attractiveness primarily benefits women.

In 1993, two sociologists from the University of Oslo and the Polish Academy of Sciences selected young Americans aged 12 to 18, utilizing data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (NLSAH).

Alexi Gugushvili and Grzegorz Bulczak documented participants’ demographic details and socioeconomic status. Subsequently, volunteers were tasked with assessing the physical attractiveness of the participants, using a 4-point scale: Very attractive, attractive, unattractive, and very unattractive.

The Study Report

In their report, Gugushvili and Bulczak said they chose to study how teenagers were seen as good-looking because adults can change their appearance more easily. They looked at the teenagers’ ratings given by others and then, 20 years later, checked if these ratings matched their jobs.

They found that the guys who were thought to be really good-looking as teens ended up with better jobs and higher salaries as adults.

Despite facing challenges like growing up in low-income families or unsafe neighborhoods, handsome men still succeeded in moving up the social ladder.

While attractive women had a slight edge in their careers compared to less attractive women. The report highlights that men reap the most benefits from their looks.

Gugushvili emphasizes, “This indicates that for men, being good-looking significantly impacts their professional achievements. Whether it’s receiving a salary increase, getting promoted, or accessing more competitive job opportunities.”

PCB Denies Allegations of PSL Payment Delays

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has pushed back against claims by the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations (FICA) regarding payment delays in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), asserting that player payments have always been made promptly throughout the league’s history.

In response to FICA’s recent report highlighting payment issues in various franchise leagues, including the PSL, the PCB categorically denied any instances of payment delays in the tournament.

Usman Wahla, the PCB’s director of international cricket operations, emphasized that all players have received their payments on time in all nine seasons of the PSL.

“There has never been any delay in player payments in any of our nine PSL seasons. We have communicated this to FICA and requested them to correct their information,” Wahla stated.

The PCB’s contract terms ensure swift payment processing, with 70% of the player fee disbursed within seven days of their arrival in Pakistan and the remaining 30% settled within 40 days of the final match.

This rebuttal from the PCB comes in the wake of FICA’s report, which highlighted payment issues across franchise leagues, including the IPL, WPL, Bangladesh Premier League, and others.

This isn’t the first time the PCB has faced allegations regarding payment issues. Australian all-rounder James Faulkner raised concerns about payment fulfilment during the 2022 PSL season.

However, the PCB refuted Faulkner’s claims, asserting that no player had ever complained about contractual obligations not being met in the league’s seven-year history.
