Pakistani movies hardly ever manage to create a heavy buzz in India for the right reasons! Yet again, an upcoming film “Azaadi” that stars Moammar Rana and Sonya Hussayn is making headlines across the border and creating a mighty controversy!

The reason!

For those who don’t know, the plot of Azaadi revolves around the struggle of Kashmir. Hence, it was bound to irk the neighboring nation. Now, the Indian media is unhappy that the cast of the film once tried making a fortune in Bollywood and are now featuring in an anti-India propaganda movie!

Rana has worked in India for 2004’s movie “Doobara”. Similarly, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Qurutulain Baloch who are famous for their Bollywood tracks, have contributed to the soundtrack of the movie. This has piqued the press across the border and they are leaving no stone unturn to attack Pakistani stars all over again!

The news bulletin seems highly exaggerated, as the anchor and the reporters declare:

“Azaadi is an unholy design to malign Kashmir and paint a picture that is far from facts!”

“Two of the lead actors have done several films in Bollywood. The lead actress is hoping to do a role in Bollywood, while they all are being part of the propagnda machinery in Pakistan to romanticize this cause”

Meanwhile, in an earlier interview with Dawn, the director Imran Malik revealed about the story:

“The film has elements of patriotism, a very powerful love story, some action scenes – a film has never been attempted on such a big canvas in Pakistan before”

Bollywood is famous for making various movies that churn anti-Pakistan sentiments in its plots. Such movies have always been banned in Pakistan.

While India has already declared a big ban on Pakistani artists in B-town, the media has now found a new reason to sling mud on our stars.
