US Based Pakistani journalist and documentary filmmaker – Shehzad Hameed Ahmad has made the nation proud by becoming the first Pakistani to win Prince of Asturias Award. 

Shehzad has received the award for his documentary that he directed whilst on his Fulbright scholarship titled, The Pakistani Four. 


The award, which is equivalent to Spain’s Nobel Peace Prize was given by the King of Spain Prince Philipe on behalf of the Fulbright Global Program for International Cooperation. 

Based on the sensitive issue of gender inequality faced by immigrant Pakistani women, Ahmad’s documentary also received the best documentary award at the Indiana Short Film Festival 2014 and is scheduled to be screened at 9th South Asian Film Festival.

According to the official Facebook page, The Pakistan Four revolves around the life of a sous-chef, weightlifter, saber fencer and a standup comic, the documentary aims to redefine the perception on the Pakistani Muslim Woman around the globe.
