As AI plays a greater role in the accounting and financial reporting of businesses, CFOs and financial controllers will have to be confident about the adequacy of oversight and controls of AI systems.In the first in a series of insights, AI monitor: trust, ACCA urges finance professionals to ensure that AI governance and AI risk management is in place, beginning with:

Investing in AI literacy and skills development: finance professionals must invest in education and training to critically evaluate AI outputs, communicate clearly with key stakeholders, and make informed decisions. Collaborating via cross-functional teams: finance professionals should actively engage with IT, data science, legal and risk management teams.

Cambridge Opens Investigation Into Paper Leak Allegations

Cambridge International Education (CIE) is looking into worries about a possible problem with the AS Level Mathematics 9709 Paper 12 test that happened on May 2nd, 2024.

In a statement shared on their Facebook page, they stated that they know about the concerns and are checking them. They also mentioned that they’re in talks with the British Council.

However, they also stated that they’ll tell us more when they know, but would not use Facebook as a medium. CIE wants to make sure their tests are fair and honest.

This is making students who did the test really worried. Many of them are talking about it on social media because they’re scared it might affect their grades and what they can do in the future. CIE said in their message that they’re taking this very seriously.

They’re working diligently with the British Council to find out how big the problem is and what could happen because of it. We’re still learning more about this.

2. Raw Mango Sherbet

With a recipe so simple, anyone can help themselves with this drink. Moreover, the mango sherbet even has cardamons in it for extra flavor. The recipe is by Chef Fauzia and the instructions are quite easy;

Wash and boil the mangoes in water until soft. Cool, peel, and remove the seeds. Then, add sugar and the grated jaggery and liquidize in a liquidizer. Later, mix the cardamoms with the mango pulp. Add the warm water and refrigerate.

When serving, add a little cold water. Mix thoroughly and serve with salt to taste.

New Regulations

Effective from May 5, the new law will allow applicants whose religious beliefs require them to wear head coverings to submit photographs with appropriate attire. However, it’s worth noting that scarves covering the chin entirely or partially will not be accepted. Ensuring that the face remains visible for identification purposes.

Biysultan Khamzaev, a member of the State Duma Security and Anti-Corruption Committee, emphasized that while respecting religious traditions, it’s crucial to maintain the ability of video monitoring systems to identify individuals.

Evolution of Passport Photo Regulations

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Russia has adjusted its regulations regarding head coverings in passport photos. In the Soviet era, such coverings were not allowed. However, after the dissolution of the USSR, Muslim women began using photographs with hijabs until a ban was imposed in 1997. This ban was later overturned by the Russian Supreme Court in 2003.

Shahid Afridi Blames Saim Ayub, Not Babar, Rizwan, For Opening Woes

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has weighed in on Pakistan’s opening batting struggles, specifically pointing fingers at young batter Saim Ayub for the team’s slow starts in T20Is.

Afridi didn’t mince his words, stating that the responsibility for Pakistan’s sluggish beginnings does not lie with established players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, but squarely on the shoulders of Saim Ayub.

Despite being provided with numerous opportunities, Ayub has failed to make a significant impact, according to Afridi. Since his T20I debut against Afghanistan last year, Ayub’s performance has been lacklustre, managing only 219 runs in 15 innings at a modest strike rate of 125.86.

Afridi highlighted Ayub’s recent struggles as he accumulated a mere 96 runs in the last eight innings, averaging a paltry 12 with a strike rate of 129.72.

Expressing his disappointment, Afridi emphasized the importance of Ayub stepping up and delivering consistent performances, especially considering the critical role of the opening partnership in shaping the outcome of matches.

“Saim [Ayub] is the issue, not Babar [Azam] and [Mohammad] Rizwan. Saim has been given many opportunities but he has failed to deliver,” said Afridi while speaking to a local news channel.

Despite acknowledging Ayub’s talent, Afridi stressed the need for tangible results, urging the young batter to convert potential into match-winning contributions.

“A lot of people are a fan of his talent but we need runs from Saim since the opening stand is a crucial part of the game. I think he has played 15 T20I innings but is yet to score a fifty,” he added.

In light of Ayub’s underwhelming performances, Afridi proposed an alternative solution, suggesting that veteran opener Fakhar Zaman could be deployed as an opener in the upcoming T20 World Cup if Ayub fails to impress during the Ireland and England tours.

“Saim needs to show more responsibility during matches and score game-changing runs in at least two out of every five innings,” stated the former all-rounder.

“We have not seen this from Saim so far but he might get more chances. If this doesn’t work out, Pakistan could give chance to Fakhar Zaman as an opener during the World Cup.”

Zaman, with his wealth of experience, could offer a dynamic and aggressive approach at the top of the order, injecting much-needed momentum into Pakistan’s batting lineup.

However, even his track record as an opener in T20Is does not reflect the reputation he carries as a master blaster. Zaman has played 36 innings in T20Is as an opener, scoring 812 runs at an average of 20.44 with a strike rate of 130.98.

Because these said ” family ” titles make it extremely difficult to navigate the office environment without seeming rude, or difficult to work with.

Siddharth shared on his account, the story of his cousin’s employment: after leaving an underpaid job he was manipulated with narratives like you’re my “brother.” This pushed Siddharth to talk about the prevalent issue of manipulation in offices. These sorts of relationships, when created in the work environment, then leave no room to be professional.
