Government Announces Training Program for 1 Million Freelancers
Freelance is taking over the world, people having a day to day office job also have something going on the side in the form of freelancing in order to earn a few extra bucks. The influx of smartphones, laptops partnered with fast internet access have led to the rapidly growing industry of freelancers.
Finally, the trend has caught up to Pakistan and the Board of Directors of Ignite – National Technology Fund (National ICT R&D Fund) has provided an approval for ‘DigiSkills’. The program will train one million Pakistani youth to promote excellence in technology, innovation, and work ethics.
The decision was taken in the presence of Mrs.Anusha Rahman, State Minister for IT and Telecom and the CEO Ignite Mr. Yusuf Hussain.
The minister revealed that there are 20,000 IT graduates this year and that it would be beneficial for the country if the workforce is prepared to work in the upcoming tech industry. The growing industry promises a high demand of freelancing and entrepreneurship.
The National Incubation Center Islamabad completed the 1st Cohort that comprised of 21 startups. Out of the 21, two start-ups were ranked amongst the Top 10 startups of 4YFN in Barcelona.
The second batch of 26 startups started on the 15th September 2017 that will graduate by February 2018.

Mozilla Firefox to Bid Farewell in 2018!
If Windows had a strong plus point, it was their Windows XP which became the most used operating system ever!
Unfortunately, its successor, Windows Vista did not get the same love as XP did, however, Mozilla Firefox had halted its mainstream help, which means it got no updates after March 2017. It only gets bug fixes and minor security updates to function properly.
However, these updates will come to a complete stop in June 2018, meaning users will have to upgrade to Windows 10!
“As one of the few browsers that continues to support Windows XP and Vista, Firefox users on these platforms can expect security updates until that date. Users do not need to take additional action to receive those updates,” Mozilla says.

Sargodha Wins Jazz Rising Stars T20 Cup 2017
In a befitting finale for the Jazz Rising Stars (JRS) T20 Cup 2017, Sargodha Rising Stars beat Layah Rising Stars to lift the trophy.
Batting first, Layyah RS posted a total of 148/8, which Sargodha RS was able to chase with 6 wickets to spare. Sargodha’s opener Muhammad Naveed was the man of the match for his match-winning knock of 68 runs.
Sargodha RS received prize money worth PKR 300,000, while Layyah RS walked away with PKR 200,000.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Shahbaz Maqsood Khan, Director Marketing – Jazz, said, “I would like to congratulate Sargodha for the victory. I am sure some of these boys will go ahead to represent the nation in future tournaments, which is exactly what the Jazz Rising Stars initiative is all about.”
Pool B matches, the semifinals and the final of the JRS T20 Cup 2017 took place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Matches for Pool A were played at Muzaffarabad Sports Stadium. Over 160,000 participants from nine cities came for this year’s JRS trials.
Now top 16 players from the tournament will get professional training and international experience under the Sydney Triangular Series and the Dubai Emirates Cup. The best JRS T20 Cup players will represent Lahore Qalandars in the third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

One cricketer whom we all love not always because of his cricketing skills but because of his super smart looks is Shoaib Malik.
The heart throb cricketer who has not been in his prime form lately is reported to have left Karachi Kings for the next edition of PSL.
Shoaib Malik captained the kings in the first season except for the last match and he had a tough time doing that. The English all-rounder Ravi Bopara was then captaining the side.
The PSL retentions list released last week showed that there was hardly any retention of international players like Sangakkara, Gayle And Pollard.
Most people were not happy with Malik leaving the kings because they wanted to see Malik and Lala play together one last time.
And on the other hand, Malik was too emotional to leave Karachi as he thanked all the players and the management while leaving the team.

Prime Minister’s National Internship Programme (NIP): 15000 Internships Announced
Under the Prime Minister’s National Internship Programme (NIP), the government has annoucned 15000 more interneships for new graduates of the nation
Earlier in 2016, the government had announced 150,000 internships to be given in three phases out of which, 84000 students had already benefitted from this facility.
The DG NIP told APP that during second phase, under the National Finance Commission (NFC) award formula:
- 25000 internships to the newly graduate youth will be given to Punjab
- 5750 to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,
- 11,500 internships to Sindh
- 3000 internships to the youth from Balochistan,
- 6750 internships will be given collectively to Federal Capital Territory, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir
What is more, the students of Wafaqul Madaris who hold degrees equivalent to graduation would also be eligible for the internship programme.
Every internee will be paid PKR 12000 per month.
Criteria for National Internship Program 2017
- 16 years HEC educational qualification (BA, BBA, BS, MBA, M.COM, MA, M.SC, MCS and other equivalent degree).
- 50% of marks or 2.5 CGPA in final degree/diploma is the minimum criteria for National Internship Program.
- 03 years diploma holder (DAE) after Matric/ (FA FSC).
- Age Limit is upto 25 Years as on 28-2-2017 and 28 year for Baluchistan.
- Pakistani Nationality and must not be below 18 years.
- Madrassa Graduates.

Euro Oil to Open 300 Retail Stations in Pakistan!
A new oil marketing company called ‘Euro Oil’ is all set to venture into Pakistan.
The company announced to open 300 retail stations in Pakistan over the next three years and also to open up stand-alone lubricant stations in collaboration with Gazprom, one of the world’s largest oil companies.
The logo and pump design of Euro Oil were unveiled in a graceful event held at a local hotel.
Chief Operating Officer Sohail Ahmad elaborated on the future plans of the company at the event.
300 Retail Stations of Euro Oil to be Opened
Euro Oil will introduce new standards of customer service and quality in the market and will invest aggressively to achieve the target of 300 fuel stations in next three years.
Sohail Ahmad said the logo and design of the company are among the most innovative and modern in the industry and thousands of new jobs will be created in the years to come.
The joint venture with Gazprom, one of the world’s largest companies, to market lubricants and open lubricant centers across Pakistan is evidence of the untapped potential of Pakistan oil market.

Despite Major Arrests, Karachi ‘Knife Attacker’ Strikes Again!
A sigh of relief washed over Karachites yesterday after arrests were made on suspects for the case of the psychotic serial killer in Gulistan-e-Johar. 16 suspects were reprimanded for attacking women of the city during the night time.
However, it seems like the actual person responsible for the knife attacks has not been arrested as yet. Soon after the suspects were arrested, news broke out last night on another assault on a woman, Tahira Bano who was stabbed near Rado Bakery in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Block -12.
The local police have failed to arrest the criminal despite the increasing attacks on various women in the vicinity.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced a cash reward of Rs 500,000 for anyone who has information on the ‘knife attacker’ responsible for stabbing women in the Gulistan-e-Johar area of the metropolis.
The Karachi East- Zone Deputy Inspector General, Sultan Ali Khowaja announced that there were police officials stationed along 30 points in Gulistan-i-Jauhar a day before the latest attack. However, this did not prevent the attacks or get the culprit arrested.
A total 11 women have been hurt 10 days in these attacks. All of these ladies were attacked by the perpetrator with a sharp object.

PMD Warns Against Extreme Temperatures in Karachi
As the last quarter of the year speeds by, it doesn’t look like winter is coming around anytime soon. As temperatures begin to soar, Karachites now have to gear up for another week of extreme heat.
According to weather experts, a weather system moving towards the Arabian Sea from India is going to cause scorching temperatures in Karachi. With minimal sea breeze, the weather in Karachi is set to hit around 38 to 39 degrees starting tomorrow and will continue for an entire week up to the 13th of October.
Pakistan Meteorological Department Director, General Dr. Ghulam Rasool has confirmed that temperatures would rise in the country next week.
The City Met Director, Abdul Rashid mentioned,
“Weather is expected to get warmer in the daytime from Saturday and the mercury may touch 40 degrees Celsius, either on Saturday or Sunday.”
The spokesperson of the Pakistan Meteorological department –Abdul Rashid said:
“There will be a moderate heat wave condition in the city during this period,”
The metrology department has also reported that there are no chances of rainfall for the next two weeks.
The citizens are requested to keep themselves fully hydrated during the time to avoid getting sick due to the heat. People are advised to stay indoors and avoid going out in the sun.

Snapchat to Launch its First-Ever App for Laptops!
Snapchat, the app that has given us many embarrassing selfies and some pretty ones, courtesy filters; is all set to hit your laptop screens.
After existing only on mobile phones, Parent company Snap Inc. is building a new version of Snapchat for the upcoming Pixelbook by Google
Google announced its new Pixelbook during their event held on Wednesday in San Francisco. According to which, it’s function will be a cross between a laptop and a tablet and will run on Chrome OS.
“We’re thrilled to announce that the Snap team is working with us to bring an amazing Snapchat experience to the larger screen on Pixelbook,” Google hardware exec Matt Vokoun said.
Snapchat is a little late in following suit of the desktop versions of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

However, we are scratching our heads while thinking how the app, which opens to the phone’s rear camera by default, will function on the larger Pixelbook.
It was revealed that the Pixelbook has a front facing camera that would allow for selfies to be sent via Snapchat, but the laptop lacks a rear camera.
Two obvious use cases would be allowing Snapchat users to message each other on the Pixelbook’s physical keyboard and access their saved photos and videos through the app’s Memories feature, according to Tech Insider.

50 Pakistani Students to Get Education From Greek University
According to the Associated Press Pakistan (APP), 50 Pakistani students will get the opportunity to acquire education in the field of engineering from the American University of Athens, Greece.
The students will be under an agreement signed between Pakistan Testing Service (PTS) and the American University of Athens. Under the agreement annually 50 Pakistani students will get the golden opportunity at graduation and masters level in Greece.
A PTS spokesperson shared that it would be a great opportunity for Pakistani students to obtain education from one of the world’s top universities. He further added,
“From greece, the students will move to America to complete their final semesters, thus they will be issued degrees from there (America)”
The contract between Pakistan and Greece was signed by the President of the American University of Athens and Chairman PTS. A delegation of the American University of Athens would visit Pakistan to review PTS arrangements.

The PTS has also signed a similar agreement for the same number of students with the American University of Ankara, which would be formally advertised soon.

Seems like Indians love slandering Pakistani celebrities. Last week, various Indian publications left no stone unturned to spread malicious gossip about Mahira Khan.
Initially, they created sickening articles regarding a surgical mark on Khan’s back and later spread false reports about her relationship with Ranbir Kapoor.
Now their next target appears to be our beloved Pakistani cricketer, Shahid Afridi!
Apparently, a controversial Indian star, Arshi Khan seems obsessed with our Lala & is stating that they have been involved romantically.
A couple of years back, she publicly declared her love for Afridi and made some really shocking claims about the Pakistani athlete.
Yes, I had sex with Afridi! Do I need the Indian media's permission to sleep with someone? It's my personal life. For me it was love.

What is worse, she created false alarms of carrying Afridi’s child.
Now that she has made it to Bigg Boss’s latest season, Arshi has kickstarted a new string of rumors related to Boom Boom!

The drama queen was quoted saying on the show:
“Shahid Afridi ke saath toh mera bahut masla raha hai. Shahid Afridi toh mere Mehboob rahe hai. Mehboob hai. Lekin humara rishta bahut achcha hai. Main unki bahut izzat karti hu. Bahut ache insaan hai,”
Afridi has forever remained mum on the matter, commenting that he neither preferred to speak on such trivial matters nor did he have time for such “stupidities”.
Is this a propaganda against our most respected Pakistani stars? First Mahira, now Afridi! Indian stars and even their media are clearly running a smear campaign to create outrageous scandals.
While they all are practicing irresponsible journalism, we, as a nation should unite and let them know that they should think twice before pointing fingers at our icons.

PEMRA Slaps PKR 1 Million Fine on Geo News!
The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has its eyes on every channel! Nobody is safe from the media watchdog. The minute any network puts a toe out of line, PEMRA hits back with a warning, sometimes a hefty fine and even a ban.
This time its target became the leading channel of Pakistan, Geo News. And well we don’t blame PEMRA for serving the notice to the network. After all, they broadcasted content against Pakistans’s army.
Apparently, the show ‘Aapas ki Baat’ dared to attack the armed forces with accusations of ‘institutional corruption’

After receiving a large number of complaints, PEMRA issued a notice to GEO and later, slapped a mighty fine, worth PKR 1 Million.

The authority, on the recommendations of the Personal Hearing Committee, also suspended the private TV channel ‘Starlite,’ for seven days for airing obscene and vulgar content.
Hence proved: Nobody can mess with PEMRA!

Mujhey Jeenay Do on Urdu1: Saira & Naseeb Get Married
Urdu1’s Mujhey Jeeny Dou continues to strike a chord in the hearts of the viewers. Its power-packed storyline is like no other and the last episode surely left us in tears!
The whole village just could not digest Saira’s refusal to marry Naseeb. The little soul gets blackmailed, threatened and even starved so that she could say yes to the proposal.
The men in her life beat and lock her up, ignoring the fact that she is just a child. She screams and pleads to be freed. However, no one listens to her wails.
To make things worse, her father warns her that he will kill the baby if Saira doesn’t agree to marry her sister’s husband.
Naseeb was clearly outraged at the young bride’s audacity to say ‘No’. However, the role of ‘molvi sahab’ in the drama gave us a little hope that there is still some faith left in the society.
We also got a glimpse into Yasmeen’s life in this episode. While Shaheen gets constantly beaten up by her husband, Yasmeen appears headstrong and does not let her partner torture her. She is tough but has a heart filled with love for those in need.
Meanwhile, the police put Mamdu in jail for beating his wife and killing their unborn child.
The episode ends with Naseeb makes its clear to Saira that he just married her so that she could take care of Tipu and she should do it all with all her heart.
The promo of the next episode shows that Tipsu gets lost in the village and Naseeb attacks Saira for being neglectful.
Truly, Emaan Sher as Saira has wowed us with her acting! At such a young age, she has aced her role and made us cry along with her in every scene
