Inspired by Malala’s profound story, an Indian real estate developer, Vijay Jaju has decided to make a biographical account of her life, titled – Gul Makai. According to Indian media, the 37 year old resident of Ahmedabad was so touched by the young girl’s fight for education that he decided to invest in the biopic on her life.

The movie, directed by Amjad Khan stars Om puri as General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani; Mukesh Rishi; Divya Dutta as Malala’s mother. According to Jaju, the movie has already been half shot in Gandhidham and the rest will be shot in North India in November.

Malala’s character will be played by a Bengali actress whereas, Vijay is in talks with Atul Kulkarni, a famous Bollywood actor to play Malala’s father.

The remaining shooting will be done later this year in Northern India. The biopic will be released in April 2015.

“I was totally awed by Malala bravery during her first public speech at the United Nations in July 2013. If a 12-year-old girl can fight the Taliban without a weapon, then her inspiring story needs to be told,” said Jaju.

Gul Makai will be the first ever film project by Jaju. Speaking about his objective, Jaju said, “By bringing a sensitive topic to the celluloid, we wish to contribute to the [Indian] film industry through a meaningful movie. The film aims to capture Malala’s spirit, her fight, and also the reality and suffering of the people of Pakistan. It will feature Malala’s life story—her family, friends and education right up to her getting the Nobel Prize.”

To add in further, Jaju plans to donate all the earnings to Malala fund or spent in any way Malala pleases to.

Malala Yousuf Zai, the 16 year old student who raised her voice for education rights in Pakistan was shot by Taliban in 2012. Since then, the young girl has fought her way through every obstacle to become the youngest Nobel Laureate of the world.

Jaju’s initiative is not only a sign of honor for Malala but an open question to Pakistanis, who as a nation, somehow not only fail to appreciate their own people but criticize them in lieu of assumed controversies.
