Pakistani Population Soars to 241 Million with 2.55% Growth Rate

Pakistan has achieved a significant milestone as population reaches 241.49 million with a growth rate of 2.55%. The recent digital census, approved by the Council of Common Interests (CCI) under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, reveals these figures.

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) released the census results, disclosing Punjab as the most populous province with 127.68 million inhabitants, followed by Sindh with 55.69 million, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) with 40.85 million, Balochistan with 14.89 million, and Islamabad with 2.36 million residents.

In comparison to the 1998 census, which recorded a population of Pakistan as 132.35 million, the country has experienced substantial growth, reaching 207.68 million in 2017. The growth rate, which was 2.69% in 1998, declined to 2.40% in 2017 but has now increased to 2.55%.

The census data highlights that 61.18% of Pakistan’s population resides in rural areas, while the urban population accounts for 38.82%. In KP, 84.99% of people live in rural areas, 69.04% in Balochistan, 59.30% in Punjab, and 46.27% in Sindh.

Promotional materials are usually printed on PVC sheets – a non-biodegradable material that causes long-term pollution. RAGS TO BAGS will prevent almost 400 to 500 square feet of PVC from being thrown away. Young women and HF students, hailing from low-income households, will be engaged to recycle the promotional plastic waste and convert it into reusable Tote-Bags. this initiative in its first year will continue to empower underprivileged women, besides reducing waste and pollution.

Hunar Foundation is a resourceful NGO and vocational training institute with decades of experience training young students with valuable skills that can help them generate respectable income for themselves. This humanitarian organization is renowned for playing a positive role in the socioeconomic development and growth of the nation.

The Chief Executive Officer of Dawlance – Umar Ahsan Khan stated that: “We are thankful to students of Hunar Foundation for helping us deliver our brand’s promise: “Progress Today, Preserve Tomorrow”. The Ministry of Information Technology has introduced the Beep Pakistan communication app, aiming to enhance secure communication among government employees across 41 federal ministries and departments. This app will later become available to the general public. Designed as an alternative to social media platforms like WhatsApp, the Beep Pakistan app offers features such as audio and video calling, video conferencing, and secure document transfer. Initially accessible to federal authorities, the app’s availability will extend to provincial levels in its second phase, marking Pakistan’s first homegrown social media application.

The government asserts that the app’s secure server location within Pakistan enhances its security compared to other alternatives. The source code will also be hosted in Pakistan. The app’s connectivity has been enabled through 83 projects with an investment of Rs. 79 billion.

The Launch 

During the launch event attended by senior IT officials, including Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, Syed Amin Ul Haque, it was emphasized that the app’s introduction aims to prevent audio and video leaks. Additionally, over the past four years, three new incubation centers have been established. Syed Amin Ul Haque further highlighted, “Today, 33 companies are manufacturing smartphones in Pakistan. World’s major companies are also manufacturing mobile phones in Pakistan. In 2020, IT exports were only $1 billion. Today, IT exports have reached $2.6 billion. Our aspiration is to take IT exports up to $15 billion.” He also noted significant accomplishments such as the Cyber Security Policy and Data Protection Bill milestones.

Saudi Arabia Introduces A Visa-Free Program

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has now introduced a special e-visa waiver plan. As of yet, this new policy is for people from the United Kingdom (UK) and Northern Ireland only. Under this plan, travelers can visit Saudi Arabia for up to six months without a visa. However, they need to apply for the waiver between three months and 48 hours before their visit.

To start the visa process, travelers need to go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) website and provide the necessary information. Saudi Arabia has introduced this because it wants to strengthen its relationship with the UK by encouraging visits for various reasons, such as healthcare, education, tourism, and business.

In another update, easier E-Visas for Pakistan have also been launched. Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry has launched electronic visas (e-visas) for several countries, including Pakistan, making it simpler for people from these nations to travel there.

New Issuance Method 

The Saudi General Aviation Authority (GACA) has introduced a new method for issuing e-visas using QR codes. This system is now active in 12 Saudi embassies – Pakistan, Turkey, Morocco, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Thailand, Bangladesh, India, Philippines, Indonesia, and Egypt.

AB: In 2022, the global advertising spend witnessed substantial growth, reaching an impressive $686 billion, a significant increase from $650 billion in the previous year (2021). This growth is being driven by several factors, including the increasing popularity of digital advertising, the growth of mobile advertising, and the rise of social media. I foresee the advertising industry continuing to grow in the future. The rise of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, is opening new opportunities for advertisers to reach consumers. OPPO Tops China, Ranks Fourth Globally In H1 2023 With Find N2 Flip Success

On August 4, 2023, in Lahore, boosted by the strong performance of its Find N2 series and Find X6 series flagship smartphones, OPPO ranks first in the Chinese smartphone market in H1 2023 and fourth globally during the same period.

According to data from Canalys, OPPO held a 10% share of the global smartphone market in H1, with 51.9 million shipments, and an 18% share of the China smartphone market in H1 2023, making it the best-selling brand in China during the first half of the year.

OPPO’s performance has been driven in part by the success of foldable smartphones, which have entered a period of rapid growth this year and continue to show significant upside potential. Counterpoint Research estimates that global shipments of foldable smartphones are expected to grow at a 114% compound annual growth rate from 2019 to 2025, increasing fourfold between 2022 and 2025 to reach 55 million units. Chinese OEMs, including OPPO, have been quick to embrace the foldable market, contributing to China’s emergence as the global leader with a 26% share of the market in 2022.

New data from Canalys also shows that OPPO held a dominant 31% share of the foldable market in China during Q1 2023, making it the leader in the growing segment. At the product level, the OPPO Find N2 Flip outperformed all other foldable products to make up 15% of foldable smartphone sales in China from January to May 2023, according to Counterpoint. As the first vertical flip phone to introduce a larger cover screen, the Find N2 Flip is crafted for practicality and enjoyment for daily use, featuring a less-visible crease, a powerful battery, and an intuitive UI design alongside other industry-leading innovations. Finance Pros : Rebound in Confidence Stalled, No Downturn Yet

Lahore on August 04, 2023, the latest economic conditions survey from ACCA and IMA of accountants and CFOs across the globe suggests that the sharp rebound in global confidence in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has ended.

Ongoing aggressive interest rate hikes by central banks, and China’s weaker-than-expected economic recovery, have likely weighed on confidence, offsetting any benefit from receding fears of a global banking crisis and falling inflation.

There is no evidence that a global recession is on the cards though. Sentiment at the global level remains around its long-term average, as do the key New orders, Capital expenditure, and Employment indices.

There were some notable regional trends. Confidence fell sharply in Asia-Pacific and export-sensitive Western Europe. But confidence in North America actually rose for the fourth consecutive quarter, with gains in the New orders, Capital expenditure, and Employment indices. This would suggest that the U.S. economy may continue to defy predictions of a recession.

It is somewhat surprising that the aggressive monetary tightening has not had a material impact on the GECS “Fear’’ indices which reflect respondents’ concerns that customers and/or suppliers may go out of business. Both these indices continue to improve (see chart below), which suggests little concern about the impact of higher interest rates, recession risks, or the growing number of bankruptcies.

Of course, it may just be a case of calm before the storm, as the lagged effect of tighter monetary policy works its way through the global economy and financial system. Indeed, our indices measuring global problems accessing finance and securing prompt payment both deteriorated in 2Q, although neither looks particularly worrying yet by historical standards. Meanwhile, the percentage of global respondents concerned about increased costs declined slightly again, although it remains very elevated by historical standards, suggesting that central banks may have more work to do.

Rashid Khan, ACCA’s campaign manager in Pakistan, said: “The second quarter economic conditions survey from ACCA and IMA of accountants and CFOs across the globe suggests that the sharp rebound in global confidence in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has ended. There is little evidence that a global recession is on the cards though. From Pakistan’s perspective, the sharp decline in confidence in the important Western European and Asia-Pacific markets is of some concern. However, the resilience of the US economy, its largest single export market, is a key positive. Going forward, external developments will remain very important for the Pakistani economy, both through trade and financial channels.”

Jonathan Ashworth, Chief Economist at ACCA, said: “The survey aligned with my sense of how things are developing in the global economy, with some loss in momentum through 2Q. Things don’t look particularly alarming though, and a global recession does not look imminent. By region, things aren’t looking that great in Asia-Pacific and Western Europe. Chinese policymakers may need to increase policy stimulus, while the ECB and BoE might want to tread carefully with monetary tightening. In contrast, the U.S. economy is looking pretty resilient, suggesting the Fed may be able to carry off the much talked about soft landing”.

Dr. Susie Duong, Director of Research at IMA, said: “Looking at the change in the GECS Confidence Indices over the year, one notable factor is the resilience of North America. With a stronger than expected growth of the U.S. economy in 2023 Q2, it suggests that an imminent recession for the U.S. does not seem likely this year, although Asia and Europe could increasingly become a drag if growth decelerates significantly there. The robustness of the global ‘fear’ indices is also unexpected. However, it’s less clear that will still be the case at the turn of the year.”

And here’s where things get funny because this hilarious study suggests that everyday habits like nose-picking could be part of the problem! I don’t have anything against nose-picking because everyone does it but if it’s habitual then its not only disgusting but also dangerous now.

A bunch of researchers asked over 400 healthcare workers at Amsterdam University Medical Centers about their personal quirks. They wanted to know all about nose-picking, nail-biting, wearing glasses, and having a beard. A whopping 85 percent of the healthcare workers confessed to being dedicated nose-pickers, doing it anywhere from once a month to every single day. Ewww!

And here’s the crazy part, the data showed that those who picked their noses a lot had a much higher chance of getting COVID-19 compared to the non-pickers. Oh, and they made sure to rule out other factors like being around COVID-19 patients. It was all about nose-picking! But wait, there’s more! The scientists think that when you pick your nose, you might be letting the virus sneak in through your hand and take over your nose, which then acts like an entrance for COVID-19.
