Changing the World

Other than the camera design, the iPhone 16 prototype introduces a design shift with a single volume button, replacing separate volume up and down buttons. This also represents a change in the architecture of the phone itself, and less working parts to replace in case they break down. All three models (yellow, pink, and black) feature a new ‘Action Button’, with the black model having a larger button.

These are not just the only innovations being done by the company, though. The black model adds a ‘Capture Button’, placed below the power button. This button is expected to provide force touch feedback and function as a camera shutter button.

Cricket Fans Troll Pakistan For Dismal Start To 1st Test Against Australia

cricket-fans-troll-pakistan-test-against-australia

Pakistan team’s tour opener in Australia took a dire turn as the hosts dominated the first session of the 1st Test in Perth, leaving the visitors struggling at lunch. The Australian openers, David Warner and Usman Khawaja, took full advantage of Pakistan’s erratic bowling, steering their side to a commanding 117/0 after 25 overs.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the Australian duo exploited some inconsistent deliveries, especially targeting star pacer Shaheen Afridi. Playing his final Test series, Warner capitalized on loose balls, concluding the morning session unbeaten on a brisk 72 off 67 deliveries.

Pakistan, eyeing their maiden series win on Australian soil, missed a crucial opportunity when Abdullah Shafique dropped a catch off Khawaja’s bat. Meanwhile, Warner seems poised for yet another big score, aiming for his sixth Test century against Pakistan, following his memorable 163(124) in the recent World Cup clash.

The 37-year-old batsman, who notched his highest Test score of 335* in Adelaide during Pakistan’s last tour in 2019, appears determined to maintain his dominance against the Pakistani bowling attack.

Lacking a specialist spinner in the playing XI, Pakistan’s pace battery might face a challenging and laborious stint, potentially impacting the series’ trajectory. The team, under Shan Masood’s captaincy debut, faces an uphill task to regroup and counter the Australian onslaught throughout the day and the Test match.

Cricket Fans React To Pakistan vs Australia

Fans on X (formerly Twitter), not unfamiliar with Pakistan’s historical struggles on Australian tours, were quick to express their dismay over the team’s performance. Here’s a glimpse of some of the notable reactions from the cricketing community:

Surprising Players Who Went Unpicked In PSL 9 Draft

The curtain fell on the PSL 9 Draft in Lahore yesterday, marking the assembly of teams striving for that perfect blend. Yet, amid the buzz and fanfare, some astounding omissions left cricket aficionados in disbelief. Several renowned names, despite their recent prowess, surprisingly, remained on the shelves, awaiting a bid that never came.

Ahmed Shehzad

Ahmed Shehzad, the seasoned top-order batsman, had turned heads with his sterling performance in the National T20 Cup, amassing 344 runs at a remarkable average of 43 and a striking strike rate of 133.33. Despite the chatter and social media hype, no franchise extended their hand to acquire his services, a decision that left many scratching their heads in astonishment.

Source: PCB

Sharjeel Khan

Sharjeel Khan, another aggressive opener, faced a similar fate. After being released by Karachi Kings pre-draft, the 34-year-old found himself without a bidder. Despite a stellar run in the Pakistan Cup, finishing as the third-highest run-scorer with 344 runs at a staggering average of 57.33, his subdued performance in the National T20 Cup seemed to overshadow his credentials, leaving him unsold.

Source: PCB

Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the explosive Afghan top-order batter, also faced the unexpected outcome of remaining unpicked in the PSL 9 Draft. His ability to single-handedly shift the momentum of a game in just a few overs had many hoping for his recruitment. His past PSL performances for Multan Sultans and Islamabad United showcased his prowess, but the draft night offered no takers, leaving the cricketing world puzzled.

Qais Ahmed

Qais Ahmed, the 23-year-old leg-spinner, had a stint with Quetta Gladiators in the previous season. Despite being released for a lacklustre performance, his global franchise cricket experience seemed like a valuable asset. Notably, his stellar performance in the T10 League, topping the charts with 16 wickets in 9 games, made his unsold status in the PSL 9 Draft a head-scratcher for many.

While these notable absences surprised the cricketing fraternity, the teams remain robust, blending local talent with global stars to craft balanced line-ups for an enthralling PSL season ahead.

Gautam Gambhir Believes Babar Azam Will Retire As ‘Pakistan’s Greatest Batter’

gautam-gambhir-believes-babar-azam-end-as-pakistan-greatest-batter

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir believes that Babar Azam will eventually become Pakistan’s greatest batter by the time of his retirement. Gambhir highlighted Babar’s unwavering credentials as a batsman, emphasizing that stepping down from captaincy could unveil the best of Babar in that role.

After a lacklustre World Cup 2023 campaign, Babar Azam relinquished his captaincy across all formats. The team failed to qualify for the semi-finals, while Babar had a mixed run with the bat, scoring 320 runs in nine innings with four fifties. However, many cricket experts believe that his decision to relinquish leadership responsibilities might pave the way for his batting prowess to shine.

Gautam Gambhir during an interview with an Indian publisher stated, “It’s an individual choice of players to leave or accept captaincy. Babar Azam is still a top-quality batter for me. We might get to see the best of Babar Azam now. In Pakistan, all the blame as well as the appreciation only goes to the captain. It happens to an extent in India as well, but not to the level that it happens in Pakistan.”

Gambhir, aged 42, highlighted that relieving Babar Azam from captaincy pressure could enable him to play with greater liberty, ultimately benefiting both Babar and the Pakistan team.

“Babar Azam’s batting abilities were never in question. Doubts lingered over his captaincy. With this step aside, Babar is expected to ascend to new heights as a batsman. Presently, he’s among Pakistan’s premier batters. When Babar concludes his career, he’s poised to become Pakistan’s batting great. He has ample years ahead, around 10 perhaps, to continue excelling as a batsman. His potential is yet to be fully realized,” Gambhir remarked.

Babar Azam has so far amassed 3,772 runs in 49 Tests, 5,729 runs in 117 ODIs, and 3,485 runs in 104 T20Is respectively.

The recent rollout of iOS 17.3 beta introduces a groundbreaking feature: Stolen Device Protection for iPhone. This innovative addition aims to control a rising trend of iPhone thefts plaguing public spaces, addressing a vulnerability discovered by Apple enthusisasts this year.

Recent surge in thefts

The unsettling scenario often involved opportunistic thieves observing victims inputting their passcodes before swiftly absconding with their iPhones. Exploiting this moment, perpetrators altered Apple ID passwords, effectively stopping owners from accessing their accounts and iCloud backups.

Better To Keep The Smartphone Box Or Throw It Away?

Better to keep smartphone box or throw it away

When we purchase a new smartphone, we purchase it in a box with a handful of accessories. Even if we purchase a second hand smartphone, we prefer it to come with a box. The presence of the box signifies that the phone is of authentic purchase and it is something that can even be re-sold at a decent price later on. However, that is not the only reason that the box of the phone comes in handy.

Today, we are thinking on whether to keep the box our smartphone came in, or simply throw it away. Many people discard of the box the moment it arrives and the phone is unpacked. They find no reason to keep it as it can seem like extra space hogging in your room. Additionally, a lot of people do not intend to sell the phone ahead, thus they seemingly have no need for the box. So, should the box be thrown?

Smartphone Boxes Are Necessities

Imagine that you have recently purchased a smartphone and it has been delivered to your doorstep. After you are done opening it and start experimenting with it, we urge you to keep the box of the smartphone safe. Yes, even if you do not intend to sell it later in, we would still recommend keeping the box safe. The current safety situation in the city is not top-notch and we must all try our best to stay safe.

If, due to any reason, our new phone is mugged or stolen, we will need a way to track it or block it. Luckily, the box of the smartphone has the IMEI number(s) written on it, which can be provided to the PTA if the device needs to be blocked.

Keeping The Box Safe

Additionally, this IMEI can be helpful to the authorities to track down the device or put an alert out if a device of this IMEI is sold anywhere. That way, it can then be reported stolen and not accepted by shopkeepers.

That said, as you can see, the box of the phone can be most essential. Not only is it useful if the phone is being re-sold, but it is also helpful in the case that the phone is mugged. Knowing how often that can take place in the city, you might just bless yourself on thinking that you saved the box when you did.

Usman Khawaja To Wear Shoes With A Message During Perth Test

usman-khawaja-hints-at-retirement-over-a-rule-change-palestine

Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja is set to make a bold statement during the upcoming Perth Test against Pakistan by wearing shoes adorned with slogans in support of Palestinians affected by the Gaza conflict.

Usman Khawaja, known for his active social stance on global issues, was seen sporting shoes inscribed with messages like “Freedom is a human right” and “All lives are equal” during the team’s recent training session.

Khawaja’s plan to wear these shoes during the first day of play on December 14 raises questions about cricket’s regulations concerning political expressions. In response, Cricket Australia shared their position, expressing support for players’ personal opinions while emphasizing the ICC’s rules that discourage the display of personal messages during matches.

Consistently echoing the same sentiments on social media, Usman Khawaja has voiced concerns about the Gaza conflict. While there are no specific ICC regulations governing players’ social media posts on such matters, there are stringent rules regarding non-compliant messages or logos on clothing during international matches.

England’s Moeen Ali faced ICC intervention in 2014 when asked to remove wristbands bearing slogans related to Gaza during a Test match, highlighting the strict ICC stance on on-field displays.

IPC Ministry Appointment Hints At The End of Zaka Ashraf’s PCB Era

ipc-ministry-hints-at-the-end-of-zaka-ashraf-pcb

Zaka Ashraf has been running the show in PCB for the last few months and has met with criticism from many sectors for his decisions. However, his tenure might be nearing it’s conlcluion courtesy of a key appointment in Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ministry.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar has assigned Fawad Hasan Fawad the leadership of the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ministry, a pivotal portfolio overseeing various affairs, including the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

This appointment highlights the substantial role of the IPC Ministry in governing inter-provincial matters and national entities like the PCB. A notification heralding changes in the IPC Ministry signals the anticipated conclusion of Zaka Ashraf’s tenure as Chairman of the PCB’s Management Committee.

Zaka Ashraf assumed the role of PCB Chairman in July of the ongoing year, overseeing a tenure fraught with intense scrutiny, particularly during the 2023 World Cup, drawing criticism from former players. Nevertheless, Ashraf catalyzed significant changes in Pakistan cricket, appointing ex-fast bowler Wahab Riaz as Chief Selector and Mohammad Hafeez as Technical Director.

Amidst this, Babar Azam’s resignation from captaincy across formats led to Shan Masood and Shaheen Shah Afridi taking up Test and T20 captaincy, respectively, reshaping Pakistan cricket’s landscape. As Ashraf’s tenure winds down, the reverberations of his decisions continue to influence Pakistani cricket significantly.
