Over time, there has been a notable shift in the automotive market scenario in Pakistan. The trip has been extraordinary, starting from the early days when owning a car was considered a luxury and ending with the current situation when imported cars are becoming a normal sight on the roadways. Let’s have a look over the years of importing cars to Pakistan.
The Initial Years Of Cars In Pakistan
Early on, there were only few models available, and the Pakistani auto business was still in its infancy. The arrival of locally built vehicles signaled the start of a period in which Pakistanis came to rely heavily on their automobiles.
There have been two notable waves in Pakistani auto imports. The first one was in response to the increasing demand, Japan introduced reasonably priced and fuel-efficient cars during the first wave in the 1980s. The Nissan Sunny, Mitsubishi Lancer, and Toyota Corolla were among the popular models.
Why Would People Opt For Personal Cars?
Pakistan has a vast transport network that serves more than 240 million people. The nation’s trade and logistics have improved with the construction of new motorways and national highways in recent years. However, a disjointed public transit system presents problems for urban mobility, such as traffic congestion and uncertainty when traveling.
Despite improvements, Pakistan’s local transport system still faces challenges. Congestion and reliability issues make personal cars a preferred mode of transport for many. In Pakistan, personal vehicles are becoming the safest mode of transportation. They provide flexibility to travel without relying on public transportation timetables, convenience, and safety.
Breaking The Monopoly Of The Big Three
The Big 3— Suzuki, Honda, and Toyota— have controlled the market for many years. Because of their market dominance, they were able to set pricing, frequently rendering cars out of reach for the typical buyer.
In the past, Suzuki has had the biggest market share, followed by Honda and Toyota. Collectively, these producers hold a substantial share of the market, with the Toyota Corolla emerging as a top performer. But this was all to change soon in the 2000’s when the second wave of imports hit the country.
With the flood of foreign automobiles, the monopoly started to break down. These cars had superior features and were more fuel-efficient in addition to being more reasonably priced!
The Business Of Imported Cars
A pivotal policy change facilitated the import of cars in large quantities, primarily from Japan and South Korea. This policy aimed to diversify the market and provide consumers with more choices. Imported vehicles become more and more popular because of their cutting-edge features and affordable prices. For many Pakistanis, these cars were an appealing alternative because of their reduced taxes.
The desire for imported cars was tapped by the entrepreneurs, who were able to easily amass a fortune with the profits of importing and reselling these cars. It has closed holes in the market that local manufacturers have neglected, particularly in the mid-size premium class. But this has also brought about problems, like more local automakers facing competition and higher import taxes. Seeing this new policies were implemented in order to shoot down anyone who was making benefits from the old rules.
The goal of recent regulations has been to modify the mileage requirements for imported new cars and expedite the import procedure for Pakistanis living abroad. In an effort to boost market competitiveness and raise standards of quality, the government has also been exploring lowering taxes and levies on imported automobiles.
Future Of Imported Cars In Pakistan
Looking ahead, it appears that government talks, import restrictions, and new incentives for automakers will all have an impact on Pakistan’s import car market. The objective is to strike a balance between the advantages of imported vehicles and the expansion and sustainability of the domestic auto sector. With possible government talks with the IMF, lowering of imports, and new incentives for automakers, analysts predict positive developments in 2024.

New outfits, bangals, and henna are just some of the integral parts of Eid shopping. The crowded markets, and endless banter with tailors, are what make this festivity so much more exciting. However, this year’s eid prices, designs, and quality have bummed everyone out. Here’s every reason why:
1. Pathetic Quality
Unfortunately, this year the prettier the clothes were, the worse their quality turned out to be. With every brand focused on mass production, it seems they all forgot to make sure all the buttons were on the shirts.
2. Sky-rocketing prices
This one took everyone by surprise. Price tags that began, that’s right! Beginning at 25,000 was a no for most of us. With inflation at an all-time high and salaries at their lowest, it was quite surprising to see even the most simple brands post such prices. What was even worse? Most stores were selling basics with these price tags.
3. Clothing items being sold separately
Buying a complete suit is just a nostalgic memory now because almost every store has begun to sell all of it separately. You’ll find a shirt you like in your size, but good luck trying to find pants in your size too. What makes this even more ridiculous is how most of those items only go well with each other. But in search for an excuse to sell both things at full prices, they’ve just started selling them separately, even the dupatta doesn’t come with.
This brings us to our next issue, why is every dupatta made from organza? Was there a sale on this material we didn’t know about? It seems every brand just bought a bit too much of it and was getting rid of it via dupattas.
4. Unimpressive and Repeated Designs
This one bothered me the most. It’s one thing to sell them at unreasonably expensive prices, it’s another to sell them separately, but to not have designs that justify the prices makes no sense. Most brands copied each other, and if you didn’t catch onto that, it was probably because you were comparing a recent purchase with an old one. Why? because conveniently, most stores changed their patterns up a bit and began to sell them once again.
5. See-through Clothes
Just to make this heat a thousand times worse, most stores make their clothes in such a way that you can’t even entertain the possibility of wearing them without a tank top below. With scorching heat above our heads, and makeup melting, who wants to wear two layers?

As the rainy season sets in, the risk of dropping your phone in a puddle becomes all too real. While modern smartphones boast water-resistant features, they’re not entirely immune to water damage. Instead of reaching for the rice, consider these alternative methods to dry out your device and potentially save yourself a hefty repair bill or the need for a new phone.
While these methods aren’t foolproof, they offer a glimmer of hope in reviving a waterlogged phone. Anecdotal evidence suggests their effectiveness, although scientific studies on the subject remain scarce. A 2014 study by Gazelle highlighted the influence of phone make and model on the likelihood of recovery, with Android phones often faring better than iPhones.
Act Quickly
The first step in avoiding water damage is swift action. Remove your phone from the water immediately to minimize exposure, then follow these steps to increase your chances of revival.
Both Apple and Samsung provide guidance for dealing with water-damaged phones. For iPhones, Apple advises drying the device with a lint-free cloth, tapping gently to remove excess water, and allowing it to air dry for at least five hours. Samsung recommends a similar approach, emphasizing the importance of ventilation and cautioning against the use of heating sources.
Silica Gel Beads
Source: Apple Toolbox
Silica gel beads offer an effective moisture-absorbing solution. Place your phone in a sealed container filled with silica gel beads and allow it to dry for approximately 72 hours. This method provides an alternative to traditional rice and has been endorsed by experts for its efficacy.
Other ways:
Cat litter: Some cat litters are made of silica gel, which can absorb moisture effectively. Put your phone in a sealed container with clean, unused cat litter. Ensure the phone doesn’t come into direct contact with the litter.
Desiccant Packs: Similar to silica gel packs, you can use other desiccants like calcium chloride packs. These are often used for reducing moisture in small spaces. Place your phone in a sealed container with these packs.
Use a Hair Dryer: Set your hair dryer to its lowest, coolest setting and gently blow air over your phone. Keep the dryer at least a foot away from the device to avoid overheating. This method can help evaporate moisture, but be cautious not to expose your phone to heat for too long.
Air Circulation: Place your phone in an area with good airflow, such as near a fan or an open window (if humidity is low). This can help speed up the natural evaporation process.
Vacuum: You can use a vacuum cleaner with a small nozzle attachment to try to draw out any moisture from the phone’s ports and crevices. Be gentle to avoid damaging any delicate components.
Grains and oats: If you prefer not to use rice, you can use other uncooked grains like oats or couscous. These work similarly to rice in absorbing moisture.
Household Alternatives
If silica gel beads aren’t readily available, consider household items such as couscous or instant rice as drying agents. While not as effective as silica gel, these options can still aid in moisture removal. However, avoid substances like conventional cat litter or oats, as they may leave behind debris that could further damage your device.
Source: WikiHow
Regardless of the method chosen, exercise caution and patience. Rushing the drying process or resorting to heat sources can further damage your phone. If your phone fails to revive after attempted drying, seek professional assistance to avoid further complications.
While dropping your phone in water can be a distressing experience, it’s not necessarily the end of the road. By acting swiftly and employing effective drying methods, you may be able to breathe new life into your waterlogged device. So, skip the rice and explore these alternative approaches to save your wet iPhone or Android.

Consumers in Pakistan have reason to celebrate as mobile prices take a significant dip just in time for Eid festivities. With over 20 mobile phone models witnessing price cuts ranging from Rs400 to a whopping Rs20,000, consumers are in for a treat.
Factors Driving Price Reductions
The decision to slash prices comes due to various factors, including challenges in meeting sales targets and a favorable exchange rate for the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar. Notably, both local and foreign mobile phone manufacturers operating in Pakistan have joined hands to make smartphones more accessible to the masses.
Industry insiders reveal that the reduction in prices is a concerted effort to stabilize the mobile phone market in Pakistan. This move is particularly crucial given the recent surge in local mobile phone manufacturing, posing challenges to international players.
Source: WhatMobile
Policy Challenges
Furthermore, reports from the Engineering Development Board highlight the need for cohesive policy directives and coordination among government departments to foster growth in the mobile phone manufacturing sector.
The price adjustments extend beyond smartphones, with reductions observed in the rates of keypad mobile devices as well. These developments are signs of the positive economic indicators suggesting a potential decrease in the inflation rate.
Samsung Leading the Charge
Among the major players, Samsung stands out, offering relief to consumers with price drops of up to 15 percent across its mobile phone range. The reduced rates make it the optimum time for individuals eyeing an upgrade, with smartphones that were previously priced at Rs20,000 now available for Rs17,000.
While Samsung dominates the Android market in Pakistan, Apple’s iPhone 13 continues to hold its ground despite the influx of newer models. The attractive appeal of the iPhone 13 lies in its robust build quality and ongoing software updates, ensuring efficient performance for users.

As consumers navigate their options, factors such as physical condition, battery health, and compatibility should be considered when purchasing older iPhone models. Ultimately, the price reductions provides a promising period for mobile phone enthusiasts in Pakistan, offering a rare chance of affordability and accessibility to cutting-edge technology.

Let’s have a look at how motorcycles have completely changed the automotive scene in Pakistan.
Pakistanis And The Love For Motorcycles

Demand in the sector has increased significantly; revenue is estimated to reach US$2.80 billion in 2024 and expand at an annual pace of 5.13% through 2028. Motorcycles’ cost and fuel economy, make them the favored option for many Pakistanis, and serve as the main drivers of this massive expansion.
Companies And Production Of Motorcycles
Due to increased production levels in response to growing demand, Pakistan is now the fourth-largest bike producer in the world. Its capacity to recover even in the face of economic difficulties demonstrates the industry’s resilience.
Chinese motorbike manufacturers have increased their presence in Pakistan in recent years and are now providing customers with a variety of reasonably priced options. Renowned brands such as Road Prince, United, and Crown have gained widespread recognition for their affordable models that appeal to riders on a tight budget.

An increase in traffic accidents has coincided with the growing popularity of motorcycles, underscoring the need for enhanced safety protocols and public education. To reduce these dangers, programs that encourage helmet wear and cautious riding are essential.

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to reinstate Babar Azam as the captain for the white-ball teams has sparked widespread debate within the cricketing community.
While opinions remain divided on Azam’s leadership, there are compelling reasons why this move could prove to be a game-changer for Pakistan cricket.
Shaheen Afridi: Not the Ideal Choice for Captaincy
Shaheen Afridi assumed the role of T20I captain after Azam’s resignation following the disappointing World Cup 2023 campaign.
However, Afridi’s captaincy debut commenced with a five-match series against New Zealand, where Pakistan endured a dismal 4-1 series loss.
Matters only worsened for him during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine, where his team, Lahore Qalandars, managed to secure just one victory out of ten matches.
Source: Cricinfo
Despite being one of Pakistan’s premier pace bowlers, Afridi has faced struggles with form recently, exacerbated by his return from injury the previous year.
Meanwhile, his stint as captain highlighted some immaturity, particularly evident in the New Zealand series and PSL 9.
While there remains room for growth and maturation over time, given his injury concerns and recent performance, Afridi’s suitability as captain may be questioned.
Babar Azam: A Proven T20I Captain
In contrast, Babar Azam boasts an impressive record as a T20I captain, with Pakistan securing victory in 42 out of 71 games under his leadership.
Notable achievements include bilateral series wins against top cricketing nations and commendable performances in ICC Men’s T20 World Cups.
Source: Cricinfo
The biggest feather in Babar Azam’s cap is defeating India in a World Cup game for the first time during the T20 World Cup 2021.
Azam’s leadership prowess was evident in his joint world record as the most successful T20I captain alongside Eoin Morgan and Asghar Afghan.
Babar Azam Unifies Team As Captain
Babar Azam’s captaincy extends beyond the cricket field, where he serves as a unifying force for the Pakistani team.
Through his exemplary performance and leadership style, Azam fosters a culture of unity and camaraderie within the squad.
His emphasis on team bonding and mutual respect has contributed to a cohesive unit, translating into improved performances on the field.
However, this time will he will face a challenge to bury the hatchet with returning players Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir, who were vocal critics of Azam’s captaincy during his first tenure.
Source: Cricinfo
Stability and Consistency
Under Babar Azam’s captaincy, Pakistan has witnessed a significant improvement in performances in multi-nation tournaments.
Unlike previous World Cups, where Pakistan faced early exits, Azam has instilled stability and consistency in the team’s performance.
His calm and composed approach to leadership has earned him the respect of teammates and has been instrumental in Pakistan’s success on the global stage.
In conclusion, Babar Azam’s reinstatement as the captain of Pakistan’s white-ball teams represents a strategic move aimed at revitalizing the team’s fortunes.
With his proven track record, leadership qualities, and ability to unify the team, Azam is poised to lead Pakistan cricket to new heights of success in the upcoming T20 World Cup and beyond.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has recently responded to critics questioning his strike rate in the shortest format of the game.
Despite his prolific performances and numerous records in T20 cricket, Azam has often faced criticism for what some perceive as a slow strike rate, particularly in T20 cricket.
During the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, Azam silenced his critics by finishing at the top of the runs chart with a staggering 569 runs at a strike rate of 142.6.
However, his overall strike rate in T20Is and franchise leagues remains just under 130, prompting discussions about his approach at the crease.
Source: ESPN
In a candid discussion on a podcast, Azam addressed the ongoing debate surrounding his strike rate. The star batter expressed his unwavering focus on winning matches for his team above all else.
“You cannot satisfy someone all the time. I am only focused on how to win matches for my team,” Azam asserted. “How I have to build the innings, and how I have to maintain my strike rate, is my concern.”
Babar Azam further emphasized the distinction between building an innings and winning a match. The 29-year-old highlighted the complexities of adapting his batting style and strike rate according to the match situation.
“See, strike rate is a different story, building an innings, and winning a match are two different things. When you win a match, then both things are covered,” he explained.
He further elaborated on the need to strike a balance between caution and aggression, depending on the match scenario.
“Sometimes you cannot play freely because you have to build the innings, and you have wickets in hand, you can play with a 200-strike rate as well,” Azam pointed out.

In Pakistan, the automobile sector is a vital component of the national economy, a representation of scientific advancement, and a window into the government’s long-term planning. This blog explores how government policies have significantly shaped Pakistan’s automobile industry, looking at how they have affected employment, production, and customer behavior.
History Leading To Milestones
The inception of Pakistan’s automotive sector may be traced back to the implementation of policies that were designed to stimulate domestic production and decrease dependence on imports. The automobile Development Policy (ADP) 2016–2021 prepared the automobile industry for a revolutionary period of change.

Important policy measures that have aided in the promotion of new technologies, localization, and export enhancement include the Auto Industry Development and Export Policy (AIDEP 2021-26). Smaller automobiles were subject to lower tariffs and taxes under the Meri Gaari Scheme. This helped close the gap between motorcycles and cars and increase accessibility for young people.
Economical Impact And Advancements Over The Years
Initiatives that have increased foreign investment, brought in new players, and given more options have all had a big impact on the economy. The focus on domestic manufacturing has boosted employment and increased GDP. Encouraging adoption of new technologies has improved environmental regulations and vehicle safety. This has brought Pakistani autos into compliance with global standards.

Pakistani automobile consumers now enjoy higher quality, safety, and value for their money because to the government’s emphasis on consumer welfare. Policies have also attempted to guarantee timely car delivery and reduce the gap between supply and demand.
Challenges Faced And The Future To Come
Even with these developments, government policies have come under fire for undermining investments and causing uncertainty in the car industry. This has to lead unemployment ultimately. It’s always a difficult task to strike a balance between supporting regional producers and giving consumers options.
Government regulations are expected to drive the adoption of electric vehicles, enhance localization, and foster integration with international supply networks. AIDEP 2021–26 foresees Pakistan’s automotive sector as becoming both competitive and self-sufficient in the global market.
Unquestionably, government policies have influenced the development of Pakistan’s automobile sector. The industry’s progress, from promoting growth and innovation to meeting obstacles and adjusting to global trends, illustrates the intricate relationship between economic realities and legislation. Let’s just hope it all gets better for the years to come and our ride is as smooth as possible.

For some time, crimes were so rampant in the city that if Karachi and robberies were used as synonyms, the residents wouldn’t even bat an eye. After some breather in between, those times, it seems, have returned. Robberies are once again on the rise and while most people have been through them, not everyone knows what you should be doing right after. Hence, today, we will be giving you a checklist of the immediate tasks you should carry out after robberies.
Lodging the First Incident Report or FIR is the first thing you should do after such a crime has been instigated against you. Register what was taken from you. It will become an important piece of evidence in your favor if your possession was used in another crime. Otherwise, because of your possession, you will get implicated. Go to the first police station you see.

2. Block CNIC
After the FIR, get your CNIC blocked. Most places require CNIC for bookings. You never know if the robber is going to discard the CNIC or forward it to a syndicate to use in a crime or not. Better safe than sorry.

3. Block Sim
The third step in the checklist is to block your sims. Of course, before you do that, you can also try calling the network to ping the location of the phone. Police can use that as vital evidence. Most of the time, however, the robber switches off the phone right away but at least you can get the location of the last tower the phone pinged from.

4. Block Debit/Credit Card
Almost all ATM, debit, and credit cards require pin codes. But the robbers are not technologically challenged. It is better to immediately get them blocked if you don’t want to see them drained of cash.

5. Block social media accounts
While most other sites do not need much policing, however, Meta-owned sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp have quite a lot of your personal data. Therefore, after lodging the FIR when you get home, log yourself out of the devices robbed, and change passwords.

6. Car tracker
This is an additional step. It can be employed if you were robbed off of your vehicle. In this case, and that is if you had a tracker installed, call the tracking company. Tell them about the incident. You will have to confirm your credentials. Most trackers allow switching off the car as well. So try that too.
While you should know these, let’s pray we never have to go through such a situation that Karachi robberies would befall us! Share this article with your friends and family.
Stay safe!
