Rohit Sharma Shatters Gayle’s International Sixes Record

Indian captain Rohit Sharma surpassed West Indies legend Chris Gayle and broke the record for the most sixes in international cricket during India’s second World Cup 2023 match against Afghanistan in Delhi yesterday.

Rohit Sharma went into the match with 551 sixes in 452 innings. He emphatically went on to hit two sixes in consecutive overs bowled by left-arm pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi. In the ninth over, he smashed an astounding 85-meter six against Naveen-ul-Haq, surpassing Gayle’s record of 553 sixes. He hit a total of five sixes in the match.

Chris Gayle achieved this feat in 2021 after 551 innings, spanning over 22 years. In contrast, Rohit surpassed him in only his 473rd inning, in his 16th year.

Sharma and Gayle stand as the only players with over 500 sixes in international cricket, as Shahid Afridi (476) and the New Zealand duo of Brendon McCullum (398) and Martin Guptill (383) trail far behind.

Following a duck in the previous match against Australia, Rohit made a blazing start in Delhi, reaching his half-century in just 30 balls.

Australia has been at the receiving end of his six-hitting prowess, with Rohit hitting a staggering 121 sixes against them across all formats. This constitutes nearly a quarter of his overall tally. His average is over 1.5 sixes per match against the Kangaroos. In terms of total numbers, West Indies (88), Sri Lanka (78), and New Zealand (68) come next.

Rohit Sharma also secured another monumental record by becoming the fastest Indian to reach 1000 runs in men’s ODI World Cups.

He achieved this milestone in only his 19th inning in the tournament. This puts him on par with David Warner as the joint-fastest to reach this landmark, and he now holds the title of the fastest Indian, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 20 innings.

Ali Haider Returns To Music Industry With Latest Single Dholan Yaar

Pakistani singer, Ali Haider, has made a comeback with a brand new single Dholan Yaar. the official music video for this Urdu-Punjabi track premiered at a red carpet event in Dallas on September 29th.

Produced in collaboration with FunAsia Productions, the music video debuted in the presence of prominent figures, setting high expectations for what was to come.

Ali Haider’s return to the music scene did not disappoint, reflecting his pre-hiatus musical style and taste. However, the collaboration with FunAsia did raise a few eyebrows.

The world of music videos has already been a sensitive arena for experimentation in Pakistan, as seen with artists like Ali Zafar and Daniyal Zafar, whose recent music video “Sushi// Woofer Paar De” sparked discussions about introducing of Western concepts despite it being a collaboration with Mykko Montana to avoid cultural appropriation.

However, we’ll cut him some slack for opting for an Indian production house given that it was a gesture to bridge the gap between Pakistan and India, as declared in his interview.

However, Ali Haider’s music video doesn’t appear to require an elaborate approach with the music video, given the slow, romantic indie nature of the song with its Urdu-Punjabi lyrics, but the production house could’ve easily avoided a music video so mediocre.

Surprisingly, the lead dancer in the music video is none other than the CEO and Co-Founder of FunAsia herself, with Vaishali Thakkar also serving as the executive producer.

While we don’t oppose people’s aspirations to explore new horizons, it’s important to remember that excelling in multiple areas, be it singing, acting, songwriting, or business ventures, often requires immense talent or substantial investments in production, coupled with the hiring of exceptional choreographers, stylists, and creative directors.

Ali Haider’s video, unfortunately, doesn’t showcase the best of dance moves, choreographed by Sudesh Nair. It’s best to witness this for yourself.

Even Pakistani celebrities like Hira Mani have failed miserably at trying new arenas like singing if popularity is something to go by. if there is anything to learn from the music video, it’s how not to dance.

There was no need for FunAsia’s cofounder to take up so much responsibility and make a mockery of herself, unless the intention was to attract negative publicity. They did fairly well at that as the song bagged 1 million in 12 days.

It’s somewhat disheartening to see artists resort to such publicity stunts when their potential is vast. Ali Haider, after all, is no stranger to Coke Studio’s esteemed crew. He previously recreated several soulful songs with the studio, receiving the recognition he rightly deserved.

As for Ali Haider’s part in Dholan Yaar, the singer shared his inspiration for this wedding song in an interview, where he revealed that the Punjabi part, though written by Mubashir Hassan, was his brainchild. The theme revolves around a girl urging her romantic partner to get her a gold chain, a concept that isn’t entirely new as Indian rapper Jassi Manak has explored similar themes. Nevertheless, Ali Haider’s vocals remain as soothing as ever, infused with a relaxed, romantic melody.

This comeback by the “Poorani Jeans” singer follows nearly a decade-long hiatus, which he attributed to personal commitments.

Mohammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique scored dominant centuries to help Pakistan pull off the highest-ever chase in a World Cup by thrashing Sri Lanka by six wickets in their second match in World Cup 2023.

In a high-scoring clash match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Sri Lanka suffered their second defeat in the ongoing World Cup despite centuries from Sri Lankan batters Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama.

5 Common Car Problems And Fixing Them

The world of automobiles is quite an interesting one. Not only does it offer incredible future applications, it is always nice to take a gander towards older cars. A car from 1965 might just be as impressive as one from today, if talking about engine power or robustness. However, with every aging car comes a set of problems. These issues have become so common that it has become easier to fix them. They can occur in your car simply from not driving it for a few weeks.

So, what are these common car problems and how can they be fixed? Please note that you should always wear safety gloves when conducting any form of repair on the car. Do not open the radiator cap when the car has been recently turned off. Similarly, do not attempt to remove spark plugs when the car is running.

1. A Faulty Car Radiator

Many times, the car radiator in an older car tends to stop working. That does usually mean that it is a major fault, rather a minor one. What happens is that, from time to time, the fuse of the radiator can break. This can be due to a sudden inflow of current or if a car has been driven through water.

To fix this, simply check which fuse controls the radiator fan and replace it. For older cars, the fuse box is usually placed in the engine side.

2. Broken Turn Signal

If any of your car’s turn signals start to blink faster, it usually means that one or more of them have burnt out. Due to that, more current is flowing in the other blinkers, causing them to blink faster.

To fix this, check whichever blinker has gone out by turning on your hazards. For an older car, it is usually the one towards the front and on the side. It has a small bulb inside it, simply replace that.

3. Air Filter Cleaning

If you are used to driving in a dustier climate, then your air filter can get clogged up more often. This can cause engine performance to lessen and you might feel the car choking up.

To fix this, you can simply open up your bonnet, check where the air filter is installed and remove it. Then, you can either clean it and put it back, if it can be salvaged, otherwise get a new one.

4. Engine Misfire

In a lot of the cases, when an engine misfires, it can be due to a faulty spark plug. This is something you can even check yourself quite easily. If is important to keep certain sizes of tools in your car for such a case.

Carefully open your bonnet, then remove the heads of the spark plugs, the wires that are going into them. Then, insert the socket wrench with the extension, and unscrew the spark plug. If it has an extremely blackened tip, it needs replacement. Make sure the engine is off before you attempt this.

5. Flat Car Tire

This is the most common occurring issue that every person should know how to fix. You can get a flat tire while driving anywhere, at any time of the day or night. Make sure your car has a tire jack, a tire wrench of the size of your tyre bolts. Also make sure you have an inflation kit and a puncture kit.

Depending on the situation, you can either patch the tire using the puncture kit or you can inflate it till you reach the nearest shop. Additionally, you can also replace it with the spare tire. Make sure to put the tire jack on one of the supporting axles so the car can be lifted properly.

Knowing how to fix these common issues can be quite handy, be it an emergency or not.

Hussain Rehar Rubbishes Alisha Yazdani’s Accusation Of Stealing Art

Renowned fashion designer Hussain Rehar has found himself at the centre of a controversy after artist Alisha Yazdani accused the designer of appropriating her artwork for his clothing line “Jugnu.”

Yazdani took to social media to voice her grievances, expressing her disappointment in a place where “there is no concept of accountability and intellectual property rights.”

She claimed that her color palette (white on black) and illustrations were mirrored in Rehar’s recent clothing line launch, a move she found disheartening.

“Please share if you feel the same,” Yazdani wrote.

Yazdani further clarified that no collaboration had taken place between them, stating, “I never provided any of my work after negotiations fell through post meeting him. Months later I see a whole line replicating my work.”

Jugnu’s founder did not stay quiet over this and defended his creative process, asserting that the inspiration for “Jugnu” came from traditional African embroidery designs rather than any specific individual’s work.

The atelier then shared a comparison between his work and Yazdani’s art with his followers and asked the followers to find the similarities and make their own judgments.

He did not deny that he initially reached out to the artist for a collaboration, but also clarified that “any interruption in commmunication with a particular artist occured due to a project postponement and not as a reflection of our intentions.”

He emphasised that his outreach to artists has always been driven by a genuine desire for collaboration and creative exchange.

“If our intention had been to appropriate someone’s work, we would not have initiated contact in the first place,” he added.

However, these allegations are not the only ones Rehar faces.

Another online store, Jugnu Candles, has accused him of plagiarising their brand name and image for his Jugnu clothing line.

The store claimed that they attempted to address the issue through Rehar’s representatives but received little attention.

According to Jugnu Candles, Rehar’s manager/representative insisted that they were “a very big brand” and refused to discuss the matter further.

Rehar is yet to address the accusations by Jugnu Candles.

Since the inception of the AirPods in 2016, we’ve seen variations in launch prices. The first generation started at $159, followed by the second generation at $199, and the third generation at $179. Speculation suggests that Apple may continue to offer the AirPods 4 at a similar $179 price point. However, industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo hints at the possibility of a more affordable version aiming for a $99 price tag, though it may come with some trade-offs.
