There are quite a few ride-hailing services present in Karachi, including InDrive, Careem and Bykea. Some have been in operation since quite a while now, whereas, others are newer, with more options to select from. For many people who are looking for a private transport alternate to owning a car, these platforms provide a good medium. No matter which part of the city you live in, you can always call a car or a bike to your doorstep and travel anywhere else in the city.

However, like every other service, these come with a cost and at times, the prices can surge high. During such a time, Careem can often be seen with higher than usual rates that a lot of people do not wish to make use of. If you are looking for a ride in traffic or during rush hour, you might come across rates that are 1.5 times the regular one. At one time, Careem even used to show 3 times the rate. The Rs.500/- commute would become Rs.1500/- in minutes.

Is Bykea Cheaper Or InDrive

The dynamic pricing technique of Careem is what makes it unpopular among many people now. It was the ruling entity when it was the only service in the city. However, now we have InDrive and Bykea both. When Bykea was first introduced to the public, it only had the service of motorcycles, and the user interface was hard to gauge for many people. The presence of Urdu on the platform even made it confusing for many people because it was written in a difficult font.

However, when InDrive was launched, it came out with a static pricing model which let the customers and drivers negotiate on a fixed fare and it would not change, irrespective of traffic. This made the application quite popular. Pretty soon, Bykea also adopted this fixed price model and it introduced the ability to order cars and bikes both. Thus, due to the credibility of the company, Bykea continued to soar high.

Bykea or InDrive?

While a lot of people prefer to use InDrive because of how easy it is to navigate, there are some areas where Bykea must be given the upper hand too. One of the prime reasons Bykea is preferred by many is due to the active customer support, which caters to the issues of the customers. In InDrive, the customer support is still growing and under development, thus you can expect much less of it in case of any issue.

Azam Khan has been facing criticism across social media platforms since the beginning of the T20I series between Pakistan and New Zealand. The fans and critics trolled him for his below par performance and fitness level.

The trolling reached at a new level during the third T20I when a Disc Jockey (DJ) at the University Oval Stadium took dig at Azam Khan during his entrance.

As the 25-year-old cricketer walked to the crease, the DJ chose to play the iconic theme song of former WWE wrestler, The Big Show.

The viral video capturing the moment shows the Big Show’s theme song “here’s the big show” playing in the background as Azam Khan made his way to bat.

At the time of Azam Khan’s arrival, Pakistan was standing at 95/3, with hopes resting on him and Babar Azam. However, Azam Khan’s stint at the crease was short-lived as he was dismissed by Matt Henry after contributing just 10 runs.

While the DJ’s playful gesture might have intended to inject some fun into the match atmosphere, it didn’t sit well with some Pakistan fans. Many believed that the move was a form of body-shaming, drawing an unnecessary comparison between the burly batter Azam Khan and the WWE legend, The Big Show.

The incident has stirred controversy, with fans expressing their displeasure on social media. Some even called upon the Pakistan Cricket Board to address the matter with their counterparts in the New Zealand Cricket Board.

In a startling incident, a French national girl with Pakistani roots was apprehended in Mirpur City of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) for allegedly trafficking local girls abroad under the guise of a boy. The revelation emerged on Tuesday as the police, responding to a complaint from one of the victims’ families, detained the foreign national named Nargis, who had been masquerading as Shaaban. Authorities revealed that the accused was part of an international trafficking syndicate.

Human Trafficker Caught In AJK

During the preliminary interrogation, the police disclosed that while posing as a boy, Nargis frequently visited AJK for marriage. After marrying a girl, the suspect would arrange her travel documents and facilitate her sale abroad. A victim’s father, recounting the ordeal in his report, revealed that Nargis had deceived his daughter into marriage, subsequently taking her to France through Dubai

. The shocking revelation that their purported son-in-law was a girl came to light later. The human trafficking gang, led by Nargis, subjected the daughter to abuse and attempted to sell her at various locations, further emphasizing the disturbing nature of the criminal activities involved.

In the interim, the victim’s family managed to locate and move her to a secure place in France, as informed by her father to the police. The suspect’s origins were traced to Jhelum. The family identified the perpetrator when she returned to AJK to deceive another girl. Confirming the deceptive nature of the disguise, police officials cited a medical report from the District Headquarters Hospital Mirpur, which determined that the suspect was indeed female. The revelations underscore the persistence of the trafficker’s activities and the critical importance of collaborative efforts to curb such exploitative practices.

It is deeply disconcerting to acknowledge instances where individuals, often women, disguise themselves as men to exploit vulnerable girls through forced marriages for trafficking purposes. Travelling by bus in Karachi is one of the most affordable ways of getting around, especially if you are a daily commuter. However, the commute can be quite tiresome and tedious at times, depending on what time of day it is. That said, there are two options that the people of Karachi can avail for city-wide travel. The first option is travelling through the local area buses, that have pre-defined routes throughout the city. The second option is to use the newer Red bus service that is currently operating in Karachi.

This Red Bus service has designated routes that runs more than 100 buses in the entire city. The fare is fixed and quite reasonable and it travels through most areas of Karachi. Additionally, this service has buses running every fifteen to twenty minutes, thus you never have to wait long. So, should this new bus service be availed or should we still stick to the old bus system of commute?

One of the most prime things about the Red Bus service is that the rates are fixed no matter how far you are going. There are mainly two rates, and most of your commute routes can be covered in Rs.100/-, going one side. Thus, at the cost of Rs.200/- only, you can have a single day’s long commute done. Additionally, these buses run quite timely and you can always expect one to show up at the stop, no matter how much rush there is in the city.

Other than that, the Red Bus service is air-conditioned. This is one of the prime reasons a person would rather go for this service than the local bus. Even if the fare is slightly higher than the local bus, the Red Bus service provides ease in terms of air-conditioning. You do not have to worry about your clothes getting ruined because of sweat. A comfortable commute with a reasonable fare seems like a good way to get around the city. It even saves you the hassle of getting stuck in traffic in your own car as well as savings on the petrol cost. There is also a lower risk of pickpockets on this bus service, but one must always stay alert.

Austria managed to put 196/6 in 20 overs , thanks to their skipper Razmal Shigiwal’s unbeaten 95. Hungary chased the total in 19 overs, with Kukikhel leading the chase. He scored 137 off just 49 balls, featuring seven boundaries and 15 sixes.

Hazratullah Zazai played a marathon of an innings against Ireland in 2019, scoring the second-highest individual score in T20I cricket. ‘Saas-Bahu’ Gold Feud Sparks Legal Frenzy

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday heard an unusual petition of a 10-tola gold dispute between a woman and her former daughter-in-law.
Sabeeha Khanam filed a petition against the decision of the high court, which ruled in favour of providing 10-tola gold to her ex daughter-in-law. The case was heard by a three-member bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa.
During the proceedings, Justice Isa directed questions to the petitioner’s lawyer, Zulfiqar Naqvi, seeking clarification on the intricacies of the family dispute between the two women. The lawyer informed the court that the conflict revolved around a disagreement between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law regarding the custody of the gold.
Justice Isa further inquired about the marital status of the daughter-in-law and her Haq-e-Mehr, to which the counsel revealed that the woman had been divorced and had three children, with an alimony of Rs2,000.
The Chief Justice questioned the reluctance in providing 10-tola gold to a mother of three children and dismissed Sabeeha Khanam’s appeal to overturn the high court’s decision.

Cricket Fans Criticize Shaheen Afridi’s Captaincy After Series Loss

Shaheen Afridi has lost his first series as captain after New Zealand thumped Pakistan by 45 runs in the third T20I match. Shaheen-led Pakistan conceded 224 runs after opting to bowl and managed a meagre 179 runs in response.

Shaheen Afridi was appointed T20I captain, along with Shan Masood as Test captain after Babar Azam resigned as captain after World Cup 2023. Unfortunately, both captains faced same fates, losing their first series as captain.

Shan Masood suffered a 3-0 clean sweep against Australia. Meanwhile Afridi’s side is on the verge of a clean sweep after losing first three games of the five match series.

Shaheen Afridi won all three toss but shockingly opted to bowl first each time. The decision seems baffling considering Pakistan’s old problem while chasing targets. Pakistan conceded 200 runs twice in those three games.

Afridi faced criticism over his on field decisions and fans as well as former cricketers have started questioning his leadership abilities as well.

However, he defended his decision to bowl in the third T20I by saying, “This ground’s history, both in international and domestic cricket, showed us that chasing is easier here.”

He called it a team decision, while acknowledging his and other bowlers’ short coming to restrict New Zealand to a modest total.

“After consultation as a team, we thought it would be better to bowl first. Unfortunately, we didn’t deliver in the power-play as a bowling unit, and our bowling has collapsed in these three games.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s batting line failed to get close to the target in each match, with Babar Azam being the only notable contributor. Azam scored half-century in each of the game, however, could not get enough support from the other end.

There are some visible issues in Shaheen Afridi’s captaincy, however, it would be too early to judge his leadership skills. He has two more matches in the series, followed by PSL, where his team Lahore Qalandars are defending champions.

When 9to5Google investigated, they observed prolonged video buffering, preview loading issues, and the unavailability of fullscreen and theater modes without refreshing the page. While the issue wasn’t replicated universally, it suggests that these ad block restrictions may be region-specific.

Artificial Timeout in YouTube’s Code

The problem seems to originate from an artificial timeout embedded in YouTube’s code. This mechanism intentionally slows down the video player, mimicking the experience of a laggy internet connection. While not a novel strategy, it’s gaining prominence as more users grapple with its impact.

Limited Options for Users

If you’re among the users experiencing these frustrations, your choices are limited: either disable your ad blocker or invest in a YouTube Premium subscription. The motive behind these measures appears to be an effort to discourage users from employing ad-blockers, a move that, while anecdotal for now, aligns with Google’s commitment to safeguard its substantial ad revenue.

At times, even people playing sports can clash amongst themselves, causing chaos and making headlines. According to most recent news, the Pakistani Cricket Team has clashed with team director Muhammad Hafeez over several issues. It can be considered quite normal to disagree with the people in authority but to have key players of the entire team clash is a whole other thing. Tension within the Pakistani cricket team during the New Zealand tour is reportedly centered around NOCs for T20 leagues.

An NOC is a No Objection Certificate that lets the players take permission from PCB and play in various leagues that they wish to. Team director Mohammad Hafeez’s strict stance on granting NOCs, especially for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), has caused discontent among players. Its keeping players on edge to have this stance, and tensions are at an all-time high.

Tensions Among Players With Hafeez

Players like Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan, and Azam Khan received NOCs for ILT20, but Hafeez hesitated for BPL, risking players’ contracts. This form of selective NOC giving is what is causing all this havoc. However, Muhammad Hafeez maintains the stance that the players are getting quite exhausted or injured, thus risking team plays in the leagues, including BPL.

Senior players are unhappy with Hafeez’s extended discussions and interventions during team meetings, disrupting the team environment. They say that it tempers with the team spirit when a meeting or a discussion is suddenly intervened or extended beyond the allocated time. However, from Hafeez’s point-of-view, he might be looking for the betterment of the team, even if players do seem to disagree with it.

The ongoing friction, still in its early stages, has the potential to escalate, and conflicting schedules add complexity, with the ILT20 final coinciding with the PSL 9 opening match. Google Launches Election Search Trends Page in Pakistan

Karachi, January 16, 2024: With General Elections scheduled to be held on February 8, 2024, many Pakistanis will be searching for information online about the political parties and other related topics to help them navigate the electoral process.

To help the media outlets and general public get easy access to this data, Google has set up a Google Trends Pakistan General Election page, a tool that exhibits the top search queries, topics, and interests in parties contesting the elections. The page also includes data on the top election-related topics searched in each part of the country, such as the economy, taxes, and wages, among others.

All the charts from the Google trends page are embeddable on any site and will continue to update even after they’re placed on an outlet’s site.

It’s important to note that the Google Trends Pakistan General Election page is not a poll or survey and does not reflect voting intentions. It merely reflects people’s search interest about particular topics at a local level over a period of time. A spike in a particular search query does not reflect that a political party is somehow “more popular” or “winning”.

Ahsan Khan Reveals Details About His Tattoo

Pakistani actor, Ahsan Khan, recently explained the motivation behind getting a tattoo on the side of his neck.

Appearing on Hafiz Ahmed’s podcast, Khan initially tried to dodge the question with a vague answer. As the host got into the details if someone insisted the actor to get the tattoo, Khan explained it was for a drama serial (Fraud).

“The crew had to draw a tattoo on me every day so I decided to get a real one instead but I opted for a design that was personal to me. It’s actually semi-permanent so it can come off.”

This isn’t the first time he has spoken about his tattoo as Hassan Choudary had also popped a similar question on his own show.

Ahsan’s response was no different even then. The alphabet inked on his neck has no meaning and he doesn’t expect the audience to understand it either, Ahsan revealed on the show.
