Women Who Earn More Than Their Husband Are Sharing Their Stories

The idea that women can earn more money than men goes against traditional beliefs that usually say men make more and are seen as more important. This is happening more often in different jobs, but some people still think it’s strange or not normal. Even though there’s been progress in making things fair for men and women at work, old-fashioned ideas and cultural norms might make people think it’s weird or wrong when women earn more than men.

Furthermore, societal attitudes towards women earning more than men can intersect with broader issues of gender roles and power dynamics. Some may view such situations as threatening to traditional gender norms, prompting resistance or pushback in certain social circles.

Some people might resist this idea because they strongly believe that men should be the main providers, which shows how complicated gender roles are when it comes to making money. As conversations about fairness between genders and having different kinds of people at work keep changing, it’s really important to talk about these stereotypes and challenge old-fashioned beliefs. This is key for making a society where everyone feels included and treated fairly.

When women do break through the glass ceiling and achieve higher earning potential, it can challenge established power structures and notions of male dominance in the professional sphere. This can lead to resistance or backlash, as some individuals may feel threatened by shifts in traditional power dynamics.

Meanwhile, embracing diversity in leadership and challenging stereotypes about gender and income can pave the way for a more equitable future where everyone has equal opportunities to succeed regardless of gender.

There’s No One Close To My Batting Numbers: Azam Khan

mohammad-hafeez-slams-azam-khan

Islamabad United’s explosive wicketkeeper-batter, Azam Khan has expressed frustration over the lack of chances in the national team while claiming himself as the best T20 finisher in Pakistan currently.

Azam Khan emphasized on his unwavering dedication to the team’s cause during a candid conversation with a sports news outlet. However, he stated that he does not like to be a ‘scapegoat.’

“If it’s a team game and only an individual is made a scapegoat, it makes me a bit angry,” Azam Khan said.

The dynamic batter also pointed out that his exceptional batting average and strike rate at the crucial No. 5 and No. 6 positions make him the best finisher across the country.

“There’s no one close to my batting numbers at the No.5 and No.6 positions in Pakistan. In the last four years, only twelve batters have scored runs at an average of more than 25 and a strike rate over 145 in T20 cricket,” Azam highlighted.

Despite the frustration and setbacks, Azam remains steadfast in his commitment to represent Pakistan at the highest level.

But also expressed his readiness to explore lucrative league opportunities if denied consistent chances in the national squad.

“If I stand among these T20 greats in terms of average and strike rate and I am not given the confidence, cricket has become so fast-paced that it won’t be a financial problem for me.

“Because nowadays you get so many league cricket tournaments. I know I have this opportunity to make money but I want to play for Pakistan.”

It is noteworthy that since his T20I debut in 2021, Azam Khan has only featured in eight matches for Pakistan. He managed to score a meagre 29 runs at an average of 4.83.

Azhar Ali Criticizes Shaheen Afridi For Selfish Captaincy

shaheen-afridi-out-of-first-two-new-zealand-t20is

Former Pakistan cricket captain Azhar Ali didn’t mince words when assessing the captaincy of Shaheen Afridi during Lahore Qalandars’ turbulent run in the PSL 9. With the team languishing at the bottom of the points table after six consecutive losses, Azhar Ali pinpointed areas where Afridi’s captaincy fell short.

During a candid discussion on a local sports channel following Qalandars’ recent defeat to Multan Sultans, Azhar Ali emphasized the importance of team-first mentality in captaincy.

He urged Afridi to prioritize team objectives over personal preferences, suggesting unconventional strategies like opening the bowling with a spinner to shake things up.

“A captain should be willing to make sacrifices for the team’s greater good. Shaheen Afridi could have opted for a different approach, perhaps opening the bowling with a spinner to add variety and catch the opposition off guard,” Azhar remarked.

The seasoned cricketer also previously raised concerns about Lahore’s bowling performance, particularly in the absence of leg-spinner Rashid Khan, whose presence had provided stability to the team’s bowling lineup.

“I believe Shaheen Afridi’s captaincy and Lahore’s bowling have been exposed. The absence of Rashid Khan has left a void that is keenly felt, as he brought a level of confidence and control to the team’s bowling department,” Azhar elaborated.

Azhar Ali pointed out instances where he observed a lack of coordination between the bowlers and the captain. He also highlighted strategic decisions that appeared disjointed and ineffective.

As Lahore Qalandars grapple with their ongoing struggles in PSL 9, Azhar Ali’s insights shed light on the challenges facing the team.

Usama Mir Breaks Shahid Afridi’s Long-Standing Record

usama-mir-psl

In a remarkable turn of events that left cricket fans awe-struck, Multan Sultan’s leg-spinner, Usama Mir, etched his name in the annals of Pakistan Super League (PSL) history.

In a stunning display of spin bowling mastery, Mir became the first spinner to claim six wickets in a single PSL match, surpassing the legendary Shahid Afridi’s iconic record.

Shahid Afridi held the record for the best bowling figures by a spinner in PSL for his 5-7, which he claimed in the inaugural season of PSL in 2019. However, Usama Mir broke Afridi’s record while playing against the team led by Afridi’s son-in-law Shaheen Afridi.

The historic moment unfolded during the 14th match of PSL 9, where Multan Sultans clashed with Lahore Qalandars in a high-stakes encounter. Mir’s mesmerizing spell of 6/40 dismantled the Lahore Qalandars’ batting lineup, leaving them reeling and reinforcing Multan Sultan’s dominance in the league.

Notably, Mir became only fourth bowler to take a six-fer in PSL history, prior to him, Ravi Bopara, Faheem Ashraf and Umar Gul achieved the historic feat.

Mir’s journey to glory wasn’t without its challenges. After conceding 16 runs in his initial over, he showcased remarkable resilience and skill to orchestrate a stunning comeback. His strategic bowling and crucial breakthroughs turned the tide of the game decisively in favor of the Multan Sultans.

As Multan Sultans solidified their position at the top of the league standings, Mir’s six-wicket haul served as a testament to the team’s unwavering determination and prowess on the field.

For Lahore Qalandars, the defeat marked a continuation of their struggle in the tournament, with Mir’s brilliance adding to their woes.

Pakistan Studies No Longer Mandatory In Degree Programmes?

Ever wondered if Pakistan Studies has been shown the exit door from our beloved degree programs? Well, let’s dive into the latest scoop.

So, the word on the street was that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) might be giving Pakistan Studies the boot. But hold your horses! According to none other than the caretaker Federal Minister for Information, Murtaza Solangi, that’s just not the case.

Ministerial Assurance

In a recent Senate session, Senator Mushtaq Ahmed brought up the concern that Pakistan Affairs might be vanishing from the graduation-level syllabus. But fear not, because Minister Solangi swooped in like a superhero to clear the air. He assured everyone that the HEC hasn’t even hinted at such a move. Phew! Crisis averted, folks.

No proposal to abolish Pakistan Studies from degree programmes: Solangi
Source: Daily Independant

Solangi spilled the tea, stating that the HEC and the concerned ministry have been tight-lipped about axing Pakistan Affairs or any other course from the graduation syllabus. So, breathe easy, friends, because it looks like our favorite subjects are here to stay.

Academic Independence

But wait, there’s more! Solangi dropped another bombshell – universities are free birds, soaring autonomously within the boundaries of their own laws. So, even if the HEC wanted to shake things up, the universities have the final say. Talk about academic independence, am I right?

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. While Pakistan Studies might not be bidding us farewell, there’s a new kid on the block – a course on Pakistan’s ideology and Constitution.

But hold your applause because there’s more brewing in the pot. The HEC is cooking up a storm with stakeholders to whip up a two-credit-hour compulsory course for all undergrad programs. Can you smell the educational revolution in the air?

Academic Reforms

Of course, not everyone is celebrating just yet. Senators Walid Iqbal, Prof Dr. Mehr Taj Roghani, and the gang are rallying for the revival of Pakistan Studies. Their solution? Integrate the new kid, Ideology and Constitution of Pakistan, into the curriculum as an extra juicy chapter.

So, there you have it, folks! Pakistan Studies isn’t going anywhere, and there’s a spicy new addition to the academic menu. As we ride this rollercoaster of educational reforms, one thing’s for sure – learning has never been more thrilling!

Mohammad Hafeez Criticizes Imad Wasim Over His Below-Par Performance

mohammad-hafeez-criticizes-imad-wasim

Former captain Mohammad Hafeez expressed his doubts about the impact of Imad Wasim in Islamabad United after their narrow defeat against Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing PSL 9.

In a thrilling encounter at the Gaddafi Stadium, Peshawar Zalmi clinched victory against Islamabad United by 8 runs. Imad Wasim bowled one over and gave away 17 runs, meanwhile, he also failed with the bat, scoring one run.

Mohammad Hafeez, speaking on a local sports channel, raised concerns about Imad Wasim’s performance, questioning his effectiveness as both a batsman and a bowler.

Hafeez expressed his perplexity, stating, “I don’t understand Imad’s impact at all. As a bowler, as a batsman, he is nowhere in the PSL. There are higher expectations from Imad.”

Furthermore, Hafeez also commented on Faheem Ashraf’s dwindling impact in recent PSL seasons, highlighting his subdued performance in the match, where he managed just 1 run and remained wicketless.

“Faheem’s impact seems to have decreased over the past few PSL seasons. The total out-of-form performance of Faheem and Imad is dragging Islamabad United down from a bowling point of view,” Hafeez added.

Despite acknowledging Shadab Khan’s commendable bowling performance, Hafeez pointed out tactical errors made by Islamabad United during the match.

“Shadab bowled well, but he shouldn’t have saved his over. Overall, Islamabad is making some very bad tactical errors,” he concluded.

It’s noteworthy that Imad Wasim was traded from Karachi Kings to Islamabad United ahead of PSL 9, along with Hasan Ali, in a bid to bolster the team’s performance.

How Apple’s Vision Pro Shattered Users Dreams

Since its launch, Apple’s newest product, the Apple Vision Pro, has been making headlines. For those not aware of its existence, the AVP is a mixed reality headset with the promise of transforming your space with apps, entertainment and much more. The AVP comes with a hefty price tag of $3,499, or roughly PKR 10 Lacs for the most basic model!

However, is the device really worth the hype and money, or is it just a broken dream (quite literally) for the users? Let’s have a look at the recent developments revolving around the AVP Headset.

Stepping Into The Future

With the introduction of its Apple Vision Pro reality headsets, Apple took a big step towards revolutionizing how we interact with the outside world by entering the Augmented Reality space. Even with the ludicrous price point, Apple has had no issue in justifying their device to the market. Having years of experience, the company has cemented its reputation for their style, optimization and innovation, making the AVP a highly anticipated and potentially groundbreaking addition to their product lineup. But the people feel that they have been swindled by the tech giant with the release of their latest device.

Cracked Vision Pro Headset

Shattered Reality

One of the most common complaints from AVP users is that their headsets developed a hairline crack down the middle of the front cover glass, despite the devices never being dropped or mishandled. However, the media has yet to cover this news; instead, users from Reddit were the first to report the issue.

Reddit users began sharing pictures and accounts of their broken AVP’s as soon as word of the vulnerability leaked out. While some customers reported that they discovered the break in the morning after placing the device in its case at night, others stated that the fracture happened when they left the device charging with the front cover on.

The problem has not yet been formally acknowledged or addressed by Apple, and the repairs are reportedly quite expensive. The deductible for a cover glass repair under AppleCare+ is $300, and if you are one of the unlucky people who never subscribed to AppleCare+, the repair alone will cost you $800. In the event of a complete replacement of the device, AppleCare+ will not cover it.

Reddit user inpehnite had this to say regarding the incident with their AVP device:

Like a few others, I just discovered a long crack in the front glass of my Vision Pro. It’s been sitting neatly in the Apple travel-case, and it’s been subject to very light use a couple of hours a day – I haven’t dropped it or similar, which should also be pretty evident from the rest of the glass being completely scratch and dent free.

Reddit User Apple Vision Pro Headset

Even though numerous reviewers subjected the device to an extensive durability test, it seems unlikely that mishandling of the device is the reason for the crack. This is further evident after watching Mr. Sam Kohl‘s video on the device, where he performs drop and bump tests numerous times, only to find the glass in pristine condition without a scratch.

The Future Of The Vision Pro

The Vision Pro is undoubtedly a groundbreaking and innovative product that showcases Apple’s vision and ambition for the future. The Vision Pro is still in its early launch stages, and it may take years before it becomes mainstream and affordable. Apple may also release newer and improved versions of the device in the future, which may address some of the current problems and limitations.

One thing’s for sure, the AVP is not for everyone, and it may not be for Pakistan either. However, it’s still fascinating to see what it can offer and a glimpse into the possibilities of mixed reality.

Trina Solar Sees Growing Market For Solar In Pakistan

Lahore: 26 February, 2024 – Pakistan’s increasing demand for solar energy is on the rise as both residences and businesses increasingly recognize solar power as a reliable and cost-efficient source of electricity.

According to Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BloombergNEF), Pakistan imported USD$1.11 billion worth of solar products from January to September 2023, equivalent to an estimated 4GW of modules. This coincides with the Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) releasing framework guidelines in September 2023 to expedite power purchase agreements for solar projects and integrate solar onto public building roofs.

In light of these developments, Trina Solar, a global leader in smart PV technology and energy storage solutions, anticipates substantial growth in the Pakistani market. This optimistic outlook is fueled by reforms in solar initiatives, fluctuating fuel prices, and rapid advancements in solar technology. The company’s foresight is supported not only by market dynamics but also by a strategic focus on reducing solar project Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOEs). The introduction of high-power modules, driven by technological breakthroughs like the 210mm n-type i-TOPCon Advanced technology, aligns with the Pakistani market’s preference for high-power output modules. Trina Solar is a pioneer in these technological advancements, foreseeing the industry’s transition into the 700W era.

As evidence of Trina Solar’s impactful presence in Pakistan’s energy sector, the company has undertaken projects across the country in various market segments, including residential, commercial and industrial (C&I), and utility scale. For instance, Trina Solar’s industry-leading 210mm Vertex modules were installed in FectoCement’s (FSEL) 5MW solar project in Islamabad and Asif Rice Mills’s 4MW rooftop solar project in Larkana. C&I installations encompass Packages Mall’s rooftop in Lahore and Fish Farm Variable Frequency Drive’s (VFD) Northern Bypass in Karachi.

Dave Wang, Subregional Head of Trina Solar Asia Pacific, emphasizes the company’s commitment to empowering diverse entities across Pakistan, fostering both economic prosperity and environmental stewardship. Wang states, “Our mission ‘Solar Energy for All’ propels our commitment to delivering industry-leading modules, enabling our customers to achieve ‘grid parity’, making it more economical to generate electricity from solar modules than to rely solely on the conventional grid.”

Wang underscores the significant impact on households and businesses, noting, “Reducing the cost of electricity makes a substantial difference, especially given the recent surge in electricity prices over the last 18 months, driven by high fuel prices and general inflation. Additionally, residences and businesses in areas experiencing prolonged power blackouts can now tap into an alternative source of electricity rather than relying solely on the grid.”

To illustrate the financial benefits, Wang provides an example of a residential household with a monthly electricity consumption of 500 units, resulting in a monthly bill of approximately Rs. 20,000. If the homeowner invests in a 5kW system generating 6200 units at a cost of Rs. 900,000, the potential annual savings of Rs. 341,000 annually. In this scenario, the modules would essentially cover their own costs within 2-3 years.

The adoption of solar is most prominent in major cities like Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore, driven by higher population density and increased awareness of solar module technology. Larger cities also benefit from multiple installers, providing a range of options, reflecting the growing interest and recognition of the benefits of solar energy in densely populated urban areas.

Building on this momentum, Trina Solar is poised to take center stage at the Solar Pakistan exhibition in Lahore (27-29 February), where it will showcase its latest Vertex N range of 210mm modules, powered by n-type i-TOPCon Advanced cell technology, as well as its energy storage systems, demonstrating its ability to provide integrated smart PV solutions.

Trina Solar will launch in Pakistan the Vertex N 720W (Vertex N NEG21C.20), an n-type i-TOPCon bifacial dual glass module which offers maximum module efficiency of 23.2%, designed for compatibility with existing mainstream system components. It features super multi-busbar (SMBB) technology for better light trapping effect, lower series resistance and improved current collection. The module is most suitable for utility projects.

Other modules on display include the:

–  Vertex N NEG19RC.20, a 620W bifacial dual glass module with maximum efficiency of 23.1%;

–  Vertex N NEG20C.20, a 645W bifacial dual glass module with maximum efficiency of 22.8%;

–  Vertex DE19R, a mono-facial 585W monocrystalline module with efficiency up to 21.6%.

Besides featuring the latest technology in the market, Trina Solar’s Vertex modules are also showcasing cutting-edge technology tailored to withstand Pakistan’s diverse climate. Rigorous performance trials, including static mechanical load testing, non-uniform snow-load testing, extreme low-temperature mechanical load testing, hail testing, extreme dynamic mechanical load (DML) testing and extreme wind tunnel testing, ensure the modules’ resilience against the harshest elements. This robust testing protocol not only aligns with the specific extreme weather challenges in Pakistan but also guarantees the reliability and durability of Trina Solar modules under varying climatic conditions. Certifications from globally renowned third-party organizations such as UL in North America and TUV Rhineland in Europe affirm their quality and performance.

As part of its comprehensive suite of renewable energy solutions, Trina Solar will also showcase for the first time in Pakistan the latest TrinaStorage product, Elementa 2, a 4.07MWh capacity energy storage system designed for utility-scale projects. It features Trina’s proprietary 306Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell which has an expected lifetime of 12,000 cycles. Its highly integrated design not only reduces footprint, but also demonstrates intelligent management of its liquid cooling system and rack-level battery management. Backed by a significant in-house battery cell manufacturing capacity, TrinaStorage has emerged as a Tier 1 Global Energy Storage provider, providing independent power producers (IPPs) with containerized storage solutions, positioning it as an indispensable partner for EPCs and developers.

In summary, Trina Solar’s presence in Pakistan signifies a milestone in advancing renewable energy solutions. With cutting-edge technologies showcased at the Solar Pakistan exhibition, including high-power modules and the innovative TrinaStorage Elementa 2, Trina Solar reaffirms its commitment to becoming a total solutions provider for renewable energy.
