Moin Khan Opts Out Of PCB Role Due To Azam Khan’s Career

moin-khan-pcb-role-due-to-azam-khan-career

Former Pakistan captain Moin Khan recently made headlines by stating he doesn’t want to take up a position in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) while his son, Azam Khan, is playing.

Azam Khan, with 14 T20I appearances, has faced criticism over his fitness and accusations of nepotism, given his father’s prominent cricketing career. He has managed a meagre 88 runs with an unbeaten high score of 30, averaging 8.80 at a strike rate of 133.33.

Moin Khan addressed these concerns head-on, declaring, “It doesn’t seem appropriate for me to take a position now that Azam is playing.” He previously held a position in the cricket board in 2013, but now he wants to ensure there’s no perceived conflict of interest.

Continued Commitment to Pakistan Cricket

Even though Moin is stepping back from official roles, he remains dedicated to the sport. “I am always available for Pakistan cricket,” he emphasized. He also touched on future roles, mentioning, “I will talk about it after Waqar Younis’s announcement.”

Moin highlighted some internal issues within the PCB, particularly regarding delays in surgeries due to the absence of a doctor. “Surgery will only happen after a doctor joins PCB,” he explained.

Reflecting on Pakistan’s recent World Cup preparations, Moin remarked, “The World Cup preparations were evident to everyone.”

However, he did not hide his disappointment with the team’s performance, saying, “As a former captain and cricketer, I was also disappointed with the cricket team’s performance.”

Moin stressed the importance of supporting new players while also calling for respectful farewells for departing cricketers.

“We should support new players, but we start discussing based on one performance,” he noted. Drawing a comparison with Indian cricket, he added, “Players in Pakistan should be given a respectful farewell like in India.”

Moin Khan’s stance highlights his commitment to fairness and integrity in Pakistan cricket, setting a positive example for both current and future generations.

In a swift response to recent rumors, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has firmly denied reports about establishing a disciplinary committee aimed at addressing player conduct issues, particularly those involving Shaheen Afridi.

PCB Sets the Record Straight

In an official statement, the PCB clarified, “No disciplinary committee has been formed, nor has any decision been made to take action against any cricketer.”

The board further emphasized, “The news about the formation of the committee and the task of making a report are baseless and contrary to the facts. The news regarding the imposition of bans and fines on players is fabricated.”

The Rumor Mill

Last week, several reports suggested that the PCB was cracking down on player discipline following Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup 2024. The Babar Azam-led team failed to advance past the group stage, suffering a surprising defeat to the United States and narrowly losing to eventual champions India.

These reports claimed that a special committee had been formed to address issues related to team discipline, with Shaheen Afridi reportedly at the center of their focus. The rumors painted a picture of internal strife, highlighting supposed conflicts between Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi.

The narrative suggested that Shaheen’s behavior had been under scrutiny, with the PCB planning to review detailed reports on player conduct from the head coach, team manager, and an independent intelligence agency.

PCB’s Firm Stance

However, the PCB has categorically dismissed these claims, underscoring that no such committee exists and no disciplinary measures are being considered. This official clarification aims to put an end to the speculation and maintain focus on the team’s preparations and future endeavors.

As the cricketing world turns its attention back to the field, it is clear that the PCB is committed to maintaining transparency and avoiding distractions. The focus remains on fostering team unity and achieving success in upcoming tournaments, without the shadow of disciplinary rumors.

In conclusion, the PCB’s decisive response underscores their dedication to clear communication and stability within the national team, ensuring that players like Shaheen Afridi can concentrate on their performance without undue stress.

Pakistani Restaurant Rescues Indian Shooters At Olympics 2024

Taj Mahal - Pakistani Restaurant

Turns out Pakistanis aren’t just saving lives here in Pakistan, but are doing so all around the world. In recent news, it’s being done in France! During the Olympics 2024, a Pakistani restaurant rescued Indian shooters from starving hunger.

Good food equals a good mood, and the Indian shooters in Chateauroux, France, discovered just that at a Pakistani restaurant. Staying in the Games Village, they found the Indian food bland and the vegetarian options scarce. When they realized the same serving container was used for chicken and beef portions, they knew they needed an alternative.

Indians Find Solice At Pakistani Restaurant

When the Indian team was left with no hope, entered the Taj Mahal. Taj Mahal is a Pakistani restaurant run by Atif Noman. The shooters, including Prithviraj Tondaiman, Shreyasi Singh, and Rajeshwari Kumari, made this their go-to spot.

“I only eat vegetarian food on Saturdays, and they don’t serve that in the Village. Everything is so bland, so we found this restaurant, and it serves good food,” Prithviraj told The Tribune. That does not seem like the European dream. The truth is, we desis need a taste of our food. We can honestly only last a couple of days without it. So when in the land of bland food choices, it only made sense that the Indian team resorted to a local Pakistani restaurant, after all, we do it best.

Rifle coach Suma Shirur agreed. That is the universal appeal of finding familiar food abroad. The restaurant became a favorite not only for the athletes but also for the support staff who couldn’t stay in the Village. Shreyasi Singh’s coach, Anant Singh, frequented the small but beloved place.

Pakistani Restaurant

It seems like they found their home away from home, and away from borders, the difference did not matter. In France, there were no Indians and Pakistanis, but just some people who appreciated good, spicy food.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is cracking down on player discipline, with Shaheen Afridi at the center of their focus. In light of recent internal conflicts and disappointing performances, the PCB has formed a special committee to address issues related to team discipline.

This decisive move follows Pakistan’s poor showing in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The team, led by Babar Azam, failed to advance past the group stage, suffering a shocking defeat to the United States in their first game and narrowly losing to eventual champions India.

Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi: A Brewing Conflict

Rumors of infighting have centered on Shaheen Afridi and Babar Azam. The tension dates back to 2023, when Babar stepped down as captain after a poor ODI World Cup performance, and Shaheen briefly took over the T20I captaincy.

Babar’s reappointment before the T20 World Cup allegedly sparked friction, with Shaheen feeling sidelined and mistreated. The coaching staff and team management raised concerns about Shaheen’s behavior with the PCB chairman.

During the England tour, Afridi had a heated exchange with batting coach Mohammad Yousuf over no-balls in the nets. The situation escalated, leading to senior team manager Wahab Riaz reprimanding Afridi, who later apologized.

Reviewing Player Conduct

In response to these issues, the PCB will review three detailed reports on player conduct compiled by the head coach, team manager, and an independent intelligence agency. The newly established committee, led by a former captain, will carefully evaluate these reports to recommend disciplinary actions, with a special focus on Shaheen Afridi.

The committee’s recommendations aim to ensure fair and evidence-based decisions, promoting unity and discipline within the team. This move is crucial for the future success and harmony of Pakistan cricket.

The cricketing world now waits to see how the PCB will manage these internal conflicts and set a new standard for team conduct, with Shaheen Afridi’s role under close scrutiny.

The Upcoming Series

Amid this controversy, it’s worth remembering that Rohit Sharma and the Indian team have an important task ahead. The first ODI of the three-match series against Sri Lanka is set to be played on August 2 (today) at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The following matches will take place on August 4 and 7 at the same venue.

For the unversed, Rohit and Virat Kohli will be playing their first match today after leading India to the T20 World Cup triumph in June.

While the photoshopping allegations might be making headlines, fans will be hoping that Rohit’s performance on the field will do the talking. As India gears up for the series, all eyes will be on Rohit to see if he can silence the critics with his bat.

Did A Pakistani Shampoo Brand Shamelessly Copy An Indian Ad?

The beauty industry is going crazy with the launch of Hello Hair’s Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, a product by Golden Pearl Group. Unfortunately, this excitement has attracted some unwanted attention: copycat labels. Recently, an advertisement for the product surfaced, and it closely mimicked an Indian ad for Fogg cologne. In fact, it was an exact copy. This blatant imitation has sparked controversy and concerns among consumers and industry experts.

Here’s the Ad:

And here’s the Indian ad:

Why can’t we be innovative?

The joy quickly faded when people realized the ad was a blatant copy of an Indian Fogg cologne commercial. This advertisement shamelessly borrowed from the original, mimicking its style, tone, and even visual elements. The rip-off was so strikingly obvious that it was clear it was a direct attempt to capitalize on Fogg’s success.

The beauty industry is full of imitations. Often, it is the product that has a dupe, but in this case, it was the ad. Golden Pearl Group, the company behind Hello Hair, has been receiving criticism for their inauthenticity. The controversial ad, accused of blatantly copying an Indian commercial, has also been removed from their official account.

Though serious action needs to be taken against such blatant imitation of ads in Pakistan because we can see it happening too frequently.
