However, lawyers emphasize that compensation should not be considered when the family is still grieving or under pressure. In the aftermath of such a tragedy, families are vulnerable. Accepting a settlement might seem like the easiest way to move on. But money cannot replace the lives lost, nor can it heal the emotional wounds inflicted by such a traumatic event.

What About Other Devices?

So, what’s going on? Why aren’t broadcasters jumping at the chance to air this series? Well, the reasons are a bit complex. Sky Sports, for example, has been the go-to network for England’s overseas Test series for nearly three decades.

But recently, they’ve been scaling back their coverage of these tours. Instead, they’re focusing on exclusive rights for England’s home series and major events like the World Cup, which will also take place in Pakistan next year.

The decision not to pursue overseas rights comes down to cost. Purchasing these rights and producing top-notch coverage is expensive, and Sky Sports doesn’t think it attracts enough new subscribers, especially during the busy football season.

As a result, they’ve been prioritizing overseas T20 leagues, where the local teams handle commentary and production, saving the network a lot of money.

The court has called for further medical examinations, including an ultrasound and X-ray report, to be submitted by August 27. Dr. Faraz, representing the Punjab Government, appeared with the medical report which was officially submitted by the Additional Advocate General Punjab.

Details of Torture Confirmed in the Medical Report

The medical report reveals evidence of torture on 19 different parts of Amina Urooj’s body. It also indicated that two additional tests were necessary to further assess her condition. According to the report, signs of violence were present on her body before May 31. The report specifically mentioned that Amina Urooj had been kicked in the stomach, causing her to bleed due to the severity of the assault.

Allegations of Police Torture

The petition, filed by Amina Urooj’s mother, Zeenat Bibi, claims that Amina was subjected to severe physical and mental torture during her time in police custody. The petition also asserts that Amina is now suffering from both internal and external injuries as a result of this abuse. When Zeenat Bibi attempted to visit her daughter in jail, she was informed that Amina had been taken to the hospital. It was later revealed that she had been transferred to the investigating officer of the organized Crime Unit.

Recent internet disruptions in Pakistan have caused widespread frustration, with many users left wondering why their connectivity suddenly slowed or failed altogether. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has now provided some clarity on the issue, revealing that the disruption was due to a fault in a submarine cable, a critical component of the nation’s internet infrastructure.

During a briefing to the Standing Committee on Information Technology, PTA Chairman Hafiz Rahman explained that the fault occurred in one of the seven fiber optic cables that connect Pakistan to the global internet. This particular cable handles a substantial 7.5 terabits of data traffic, making the disruption particularly severe. The fault in the submarine cable, according to Rahman, has been isolated and is expected to be repaired by August 27, 2024.

The disruption, however, was not global but specific to Pakistan’s cable system. As one of the country’s main conduits to the internet went down, users experienced significant slowdowns, particularly affecting those relying on high-speed connections for work, streaming, and other online activities.

VPN Usage Compounds the Issue

The issue was compounded by other factors, notably the widespread use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) in the country. Minister of State for IT, Shaza Fatima, explained that the increased use of VPNs contributed to the network strain. As certain services became restricted, many users turned to VPNs to bypass these limitations, further straining the already compromised network. While VPNs are often used for legitimate privacy concerns, their mass usage during an infrastructure fault exacerbated the situation.

There has also been some discussion around the implementation of internet firewalls at Pakistan’s main internet gateways. These systems, designed to monitor and filter traffic, have been partially blamed for the slowed internet speeds.
