A 38-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly poisoning her co-worker at a textile factory in Abadia de Goias, Brazil, following a workplace dispute. The incident, which occurred last month, was captured on CCTV cameras, showing the suspect tampering with the victim’s drink container before she consumed it and experienced a burning sensation in her throat. Subsequent analysis revealed a high concentration of a potent solvent in the water, strongly indicating an intent to harm.
According to police investigations, the two women were former friends, but their relationship deteriorated after the victim received a promotion, which reportedly caused tension between them. Witnesses claimed they had frequent arguments, including one on the day of the poisoning. The suspect was also seen entering a restricted management area where chemical substances were stored, despite lacking authorisation, which police believe is how she consumed the liquid.
After sensing something was wrong, the victim called an ambulance and was rushed to the hospital. Fortunately, she made a full recovery, but doctors warned that consuming a larger amount could have been fatal. Following a review of CCTV footage, police arrested the suspect on February 27th, and she admitted to tampering with the drink after an argument. She is now facing attempted aggravated homicide charges, which carry a prison sentence of 6 to 20 years.
This case is similar to an incident last year, where a woman poisoned a pregnant co-worker to prevent her from taking maternity leave, fearing an increased workload. Authorities continue to emphasise the importance of workplace safety and the prevention of conflicts escalating into violence.

Ramadan is finally here. Muslims all around the globe will be observing fasts for the next 29 to 30 days. During these days, individuals will refrain from eating, drinking, or engaging in any sinful or inappropriate acts from dawn to dusk, a period that lasts between 12 to 16 hours depending on geographical differences.
While some countries fast for shorter hours, others have fasts for as long as 15+ hours. So, let’s find out which countries fast the shortest and longest hours.
Why Ramadan Starts on Different Dates Every Year
Each year, Ramadan begins 10 to 12 days earlier and this is because the Muslims follow the Lunar Hijri calendar. As the lunar year is shorter than the solar year by 11 days, the starting dates differ every year.
Why Ramadan Starts on Different Dates Every Year
For this very reason, Ramadan will be observed twice in the year 2030 – first beginning on January 5 and then starting on December 26.
Fasting hours vary slightly in equatorial regions such as Singapore, Somalia and Colombia. The regions where daylight hours remain relatively consistent throughout the year, the fasting hours remain consistent too.
However, for regions with a higher latitude like Scandinavia, Canada, or parts of Russia, the length of the fast will vary dramatically. This also applies to lower latitudes, such as South Africa, Australia and Argentina.
So, which countries observe the longest fasting hours? Here’s the list.

The Supreme Court of India has granted limited relief to popular YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, allowing him to continue his podcast, The Ranveer Show, under strict conditions. The verdict comes after Allahbadia approached the court to continue his podcast, citing its importance as the sole means of his livelihood and that of more than 280 employees.
Supreme Court’s Conditions for The Ranveer Show
As the court lifted the ban on the podcast, it has imposed tight content regulations that require all talk to be conducted in accordance with societal standards of decency. The action has set off renewed discussions on regulating online content and free speech. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta argued that Allahbadia’s content, while not overtly crude, exhibited “perversity” that required regulatory action. The ruling also portended a potential broader scheme to govern digital creators in the future.
Ranveer Allahbadia’s Podcast Ban Lifted: Court Sets Strict Guidelines
No International Travel Approval Yet
Though he has obtained permission to keep pursuing his podcast, Allahbadia’s travel request has been rejected on account of an investigation into the India’s Got Latent controversy. The court said that travel approval would be considered only after his complete cooperation with the authorities. Assam Police have been directed to arrange Allahbadia for interrogation and is shielded from arrest under an interim order.
The Allahbadia controversy started after his comments on comedian Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent, drew public ire. Allahbadia was confronted with several FIRs later, when he confessed to Maharashtra Cyber Police that his words were regrettable. The Supreme Court had earlier criticised his remarks, asking whether content creators must be given unfettered freedom in sensitive topics.

Impact on Digital Creators
The case has attracted other influencers, such as Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Makhija, whose statements have been taken on record. Actress Rakhi Sawant has also been called for questioning, while authorities wait for a statement from Samay Raina, a central figure in the controversy. Current investigations by Maharashtra and Assam authorities have raised the bar for scrutiny of digital content creators, establishing a precedent for future regulation of content.
With The Ranveer Show returning under tight scrutiny, the case is a sign of increasing tension between creative freedom and regulatory control in India’s online media world. As officials call for tighter guidelines, content producers might come under greater scrutiny for their online conversations and the stories they tell.

Former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie has taken a swipe at Pakistan’s interim head coach Aaqib Javed, calling him a “clown” for his remarks regarding the team’s struggles and his push to become the full-time coach across all formats.
Javed, while addressing a press conference following Pakistan’s early exit from the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy, had expressed concerns over the frequent changes in the coaching staff and selection committee, suggesting that instability at the top was a key factor in the team’s underwhelming performances.
“We have changed nearly 16 coaches and 26 selectors in the last two years or so,” Javed said. “You put that formula on any team in the world, I think they will also be in the same situation. Until you get consistency right from the top down to the bottom, from the chairman down, then your team will not progress.”
Pakistan, the hosts of this year’s Champions Trophy, failed to advance past the group stage after losses to India and New Zealand, with their final match against Bangladesh being washed out.
Gillespie, who played 71 Tests and 97 ODIs for Australia, was quick to dismiss Javed’s comments, calling them “hilarious.” Taking to the social media platform Threads, the former Australia pacer ridiculed Javed’s statements, accusing him of manoeuvring behind the scenes to secure the coaching role.
“It’s a bit rich of Aaqib Javed to blame ‘instability’ when he went behind the backs of Gary Kirsten and myself to take over the Pakistan team,” Gillespie wrote.
Pakistan cricket has seen a revolving door of coaching and selection appointments in recent years, with numerous changes at the administrative level as well. The uncertainty has led to growing criticism, with several former players and analysts calling for a long-term, structured approach to team management.
Javed, a former Test pacer himself, had previously coached Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has been vocal about his ambitions to take on a permanent role with the national side. However, his tenure as interim coach has already come under scrutiny, particularly following Pakistan’s disappointing campaign in the Champions Trophy.

Lawyers are the backbone of any justice system and Pakistan isn’t any different. Even the nation’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah himself was a lawyer by profession; that alone shows how reputable this profession is.
However, this pathway isn’t as easy as it may seem. Not only does it need a lot of handwork, but also continued determination and the will to not give up. So, what is the right gateway to become a lawyer in Pakistan? What are the academic and professional struggles that an aspiring lawyer must keep in mind? Let’s find out.
Becoming a Lawyer: Key Steps
The Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Act of 1973 and Pakistan Legal Practitioners Rules of 1976 have outlined the proper criteria for becoming a practicing Pakistani advocate. We have listed below all the crucial steps of this procedure in chronological order for your convenience.
How to Become a Lawyer in Pakistan? A Pathway to Prestige, Power and Purpose
Step 1: Meeting the Educational Requirements
The first step, of course, is meeting the educational requirements like any other degree in the world. This includes finishing your Intermediate/A levels with any subject combination. However, there is a high chance that students with an interest in subjects like law, political sciences and social sciences will be able to grasp the legal concepts better.
Secondly, the most basic of educational requirements include an LLB degree from an HEC (Higher Education Commission) and PBC (Pakistan Bar Council) approved institute. In Pakistan, this degree is a 5-year programme and will require you to study all the basic fields of law. Here are some reputable institutes of Pakistan that you can consider an option for the 5-year LLB:
University of Punjab
Quaid-e-Azam University
International Islamic University Islamabad
Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS)
University of Karachi
Step 2: Passing the Law Graduate Assessment Test (LAW-GAT)
After completing your LLB, the Pakistan Bar Council will also require you to pass the Law Graduate Assessment Test (LAW-GAT) to be considered eligible for practice. This exam is conducted by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to test your legal knowledge and understanding. A passing score on the exam is mandatory to move forward in your legal career.
What You Must Know About Law-GAT:
The test is held multiple times a year and consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
The topics in the exam can range from constitutional law, criminal law, civil law, jurisprudence and professional ethics.
One must get at least 50% marks in the test to pass.
Step 3: Completing a Law Internship (Pupilage)
After passing the Law-Gat, you will have to undergo a six-month internship (pupilage) under a senior advocate with at least 10 years of experience. This is where things will start getting technical and real for you. But keep in mind that this corporate and court exposure is for your good; it will allow you to gain the on-field experience that will aid you in your career afterward.
Beneficial Skills that you will be Learning in Your Internship:
Drafting legal documents
Carrying out court proceedings and case management
Client interaction and legal research criteria
Practical exposure to the main fields of law: civil and criminal
Step 4: Joining Provincial Bar Council
Once you have the education and experience on board, you will then have to apply for a license from the relevant provincial bar council ( i.e., Punjab Bar Council, Sindh Bar Council, or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council).
For this bar council license, you will have to submit your LLB degree, law-GAT result, internship completion certificate and character certificate (now you know why the above steps were so necessary).
Important Note: The Bar Council will be conducting an interview/exam to assess your legal knowledge and ethical understanding. Only after passing this interview stage, you will be getting the license.
Once, you receive your license, you become legally eligible for practicing law in Pakistan. After this step, you can choose whatever field you like i.e. criminal law, corporate law, government law etc.
Step 6: Advance Your Career Through Higher Courts and Specialisation
Once you have worked for at least 2 years in district courts, you can apply for enrollment as an advocate in the high court or specialise in a specific area of law through an LLM degree (Master of Law). This shall allow you to deepen your knowledge of the domain you are good at.
In the long run, after 10 years of High Court practice, you can also qualify to become an Advocate of the Supreme Court upon approval by the Pakistan Bar Council.
Challenges Along the Way
Like any other field, Law has its own set of challenges. You will face an immense caseload and will have to handle multiple cases simultaneously. Pakistan’s legal system is also very complex and bureaucratic, so be prepared for that.
We are not here to scare you; we just want to ensure that you have the whole guideline beforehand so that you know what you are signing up for. Once you have lived through the difficult stages, it becomes a rewarding journey!

Indian actress arrested for smuggling 14.8 kg gold
Kannada actress Ranya Rao was arrested for gold smuggling after the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) caught her at Kempegowda International Airport. Officers found 14 kg of gold hidden inside her belt strap.
Ranya, the stepdaughter of a senior police officer, frequently travelled between Bengaluru and Gulf countries. Investigators revealed that she used clever tricks to avoid security checks, making it easier to smuggle gold without getting caught.
Ranya wore the same outfit on her last four trips abroad, which helped her blend in. She carried gold in a specially designed belt, making it harder for scanners to detect the metal.
In just 15 days, she made four trips to the Gulf. Each time she returned, she received special treatment — a protocol officer escorted her, and a government vehicle picked her up outside the airport. This setup allowed her to skip standard security checks, making smuggling much easier.
Despite her tactics, DRI officers intercepted Ranya on her latest return. She allegedly tried to dodge security with help from a police constable named Basavaraju. However, the officers caught her with the hidden gold and took her to the DRI office in Nagawara for questioning.
Later, officials searched her home on Lavelle Road. They seized gold jewellery worth ₹2.06 crore and ₹2.67 crore in cash, further strengthening the case against her.
Director General of Police (DGP) K Ramachandra Rao addressed the situation, firmly stating that he had no connection to Ranya’s actions. “She got married four months ago and hasn’t contacted us since. The law will take its course,” he explained.

New Zealand beat South Africa by 50 runs in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Despite David Miller’s late heroics, South Africa couldn’t chase the 363-run target.
South Africa started poorly when Matt Henry dismissed Ryan Rickelton (17) in the fifth over, leaving them at 20/1. Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen steadied the innings with a 105-run partnership. Bavuma scored 57 off 71 balls, while van der Dussen made 69 off 66. Mitchell Santner took both wickets, breaking South Africa’s momentum.
At 218/8, South Africa’s chances faded, but Miller fought back with a stunning 100 off 67 balls, hitting 10 fours and 4 sixes. His powerful knock thrilled fans, but New Zealand’s bowlers kept control. Santner led with 3 wickets for 43 runs. Glenn Phillips and Matt Henry took 2 wickets each, sealing the win.
Earlier, New Zealand scored 362/6, powered by centuries from Rachin Ravindra (108) and Kane Williamson (102). Will Young fell early for 13, but Ravindra and Williamson built a solid base. Daryl Mitchell added a quick 49, while Glenn Phillips smashed 49 off 27 balls.

It’s that time of year again—Ramadan has started, and everyone wants to know how to stay fit without getting exhausted. We know it is incredibly hard, given that our Iftar tables are filled with fried foods, but with a little positive attitude and determination, your body will thank you the entire month.
Here is how you can fast while working out and stay fit the smart way.
Important Tips for Working Out in Ramadhan
If you want to stay fit, you’ll have to work out; it’s the ultimate cheat code; like it or not. Here are some important tips that will make the workout process easier for everyone (yes even the lazy ones!)
Do strength training in the day, but keep the cardio for post iftar. Limit the cardio to twice a week too
Train at a lower intensity during Ramadan or try brisk walking.
Break your fast with light food such as coconut water and dates
Drink plenty of water (at least 8 glasses) between Iftar and Suhoor.
Go for a 30-minute daily walk to support your muscles, joints and overall physical fitness.
Disclaimer: Be realistic though! It is ok if you can’t work out with the same intensity as before. Just focus on consistency and your internal health rather than the aesthetics.
Planning an Exercise Routine
If you are struggling to plan an exercise routine, we would suggest that you opt for pre-suhoor or post iftar timings. You can try waking up in the first half of the night, and do cardio and workout before having your suhoor.
You can also go for the post Iftaar option, but remember that you might not be able to work out as effectively due to fasting the whole day. In such a case, opt for low intensity exercises like squats, lunges, push-ups, planks and burpees.
Now, I will actually advise you to skip your usual weightlifting and instead do more easygoing exercise. Here are some exercises you can do without compromising your health in any way:
Cardio Exercises
Strength Exercises
Yoga and Stretching
High-Intensity Interval Training
Other Activities You Can Do To Stay Fit
Apart from the typical workouts, you can also go for other activities that will not only keep you physically fit but also mentally present. Here are some suggestions for that:
Swimming
Light Jogging
Yoga
Paddle
Cricket
Cycling
What to Include and Avoid in Your Diet
Try opting for fruits with natural sugars so that your body gets nutritional water. We would suggest that you add a palate filled with carbs and eat meals like whole grain rice, quinoa, beans, lentils and sweet potatoes. On the other hand, avoid eating added refined sugars, salty food and fried food (yes, the polar opposite to what we are used to).
To conclude, let me remind you that it’s ok to struggle. Rest easy, play around with your training times and training styles and you will find what works for you.
Wishing you a blessed and healthy month ahead!

05 March 2025, Karachi, Pakistan – JS Bank Limited continued to strengthen itself through sustainable growth and innovative financial solutions, solidifying its position as one of the fastest-growing banks in the country. As a result, JS Bank recorded a consolidated Profit Before Tax (PBT) of PKR 30.7 billion for the year 2024 as compared to PKR 18.7 billion for the year 2023, showing a growth of 64%. Whereas on a standalone basis, the PBT stood at PKR 6.4 billion for the same year.
The bank’s profitability, based on the consolidated financial statements, was driven by an 87.2% surge in net mark-up/interest income, which reached PKR 73.9 billion compared to PKR 39.5 billion last year. The increase was coupled by a 67.8% rise in mark-up/interest earned, amounting to PKR 221.5 billion and optimization of funding pool to contain the increase in interest expense at a level of 59% YoY. Additionally, non-markup income contributed significantly rising by 23.3% to PKR 16.28 billion, with Fee and Commission income increase by 52% YoY to reach at PKR 8.98 billion (2023: PKR 5.97 billion), and a 288.64% increase in gains on securities.
The Earnings per Share (EPS) stood at PKR 5.03, based on consolidated financial statements, and on a standalone basis at PKR 1.39. However, as compared to the last year, the consolidated EPS declined by 16.17% to PKR 5.03 from PKR 6, primarily due to the impact of increased taxation.
Moreover, the Bank’s consolidated deposits stood over PKR 1.1 trillion, and on a standalone basis, the deposits were at PKR 525 billion.
JS Bank continues to strengthen its position in the banking sector with a focus on sustainable growth and innovation through its aggressive approach in SME investments, women-empowering products, and Green Financing (including public driven solar schemes). The Bank’s consolidated network expanded by over 120 branches across Pakistan, which has increased touch points for customers.
The Bank is delivering value to its stakeholders and contributing to the sustainable economic development of Pakistan.
“The DP World Beyond Boundaries Initiative aligns with our vision of strengthening grassroots cricket in Pakistan.
Karachi, Pakistan – 03 March 2025: Global logistics provider DP World has continued to deliver the Beyond Boundaries Initiative by unveiling a repurposed shipping container to local beneficiaries at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
Legendary Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram helped launch the eleventh container on the eve of the ICC Champions Trophy semi-finals alongside Junaid Zamir, Chief Executive Officer of DP World’s Qasim International Container Terminal, and Nadeem Khan, Academies Director at the Pakistan Cricket Board, by distributing cricket kits to beneficiaries from several academies. The repurposed container, with an in-built changing room and scoreboard, will be permanently based at National Bank Stadium in Karachi, providing much needed facilities to the communities that utilise the grounds for training and matches.
Junaid Zamir said: “DP World is delighted to bring the Beyond Boundaries Initiative to Pakistan, a country with a deep passion for cricket, amidst the backdrop of the ICC Champions Trophy – the first ICC event held in the region since 1996. We are delighted to work with both our partner, the ICC, as well as the Pakistan Cricket Board, to make a meaningful difference to communities where the cricket kits and container will have a big impact. From supporting the ICC by delivering broadcast equipment for television coverage of the tournament, through to the movement of this container to Pakistan for the launch of this initiative, our global logistics solutions are helping to bring the game to every level.”
Through the latest stop on the initiative’s journey, DP World has now delivered 2,750 cricket kits to grassroots clubs across seven countries, continuing to fulfil a promise that has seen DP World pledge ten cricket kits for every 100 runs scored in ICC tournaments.
Wasim Akram added: “Pakistan is a cricketing nation with a proud history, producing players that have thrilled audiences worldwide. However, with the kit and equipment needed to access the sport, it can be expensive and ultimately prohibitive to the potential superstars of tomorrow. I know first-hand the importance of owning high quality cricket kits, that you can call your own, so I look forward to seeing how this initiative will benefit young players across this country and beyond”.
The repurposed container unveiled today has been delivered by DP World’s end-to-end logistics capabilities. Produced in Dubai, the container embarked on a three-day journey of more than 1,000km’s, through DP World’s Jebel Ali hub before arriving at Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT) in Karachi. From there, the container was moved by a DP World flatbed truck to the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
Each container is adorned with a unique mural designed by a local artist, reflecting the community that the facility will serve, with the Karachi-born Ibrahim Gailani producing the artwork for the Karachi container.
Anurag Dahiya, Chief Commercial Officer at International Cricket Council, said: “As this thrilling ICC Champions Trophy reaches its climax, we are delighted to see DP World extend its support for grassroots talent to Pakistan. Having witnessed firsthand the initiative’s impact globally, we welcomed the opportunity to connect DP World with our colleagues at the Pakistan Cricket Board to identify beneficiaries that need the support the most, helping to grow the game for everyone”.
Sumair Ahmad Syed, Chief Operating Officer, PCB and ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Tournament Director, said: “The DP World Beyond Boundaries Initiative aligns with our vision of strengthening grassroots cricket in Pakistan. By expanding access to quality equipment and resources, it will support young cricketers in refining their skills and progressing through the ranks. At the Pakistan Cricket Board, we are committed to developing future talent, and initiatives like these play a valuable role in inspiring and enabling the next generation. We appreciate DP World’s commitment to the sport and its efforts to make a lasting impact at the grassroots level”.
Throughout the ICC Champions Trophy, DP World has continued the kits-for-runs programme that has been present at other ICC tournaments since 2023. So far in this year’s tournament, DP World has pledged over 400 cricket kits to grassroots cricket communities.
Adidas has sold its last remaining pair of Yeezy sneakers, marking the end of its stock liquidation process. The sportswear brand had been clearing its Yeezy inventory since May 2023, after ending its partnership with rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, in October 2022. The collaboration was terminated following Ye’s public anti-Semitic remarks, which impacted Adidas’ revenue and led to an annual loss in 2023.
The loss of Yeezy sales was felt most in the United States, where the brand was highly popular. Adidas reported that its North America sales fell by 2% in 2024, attributing the decline solely to lower Yeezy sales. Despite this, Adidas managed to generate €650 million ($696 million) from Yeezy sneaker sales in 2023, making a €200 million profit. This was lower than the previous year’s earnings of €750 million in revenue and €300 million in operating profit.
The company has pledged to donate part of its Yeezy proceeds to organisations fighting anti-Semitism, including the Anti-Defamation League. Adidas has set aside €260 million for charitable donations, with €200 million held in a foundation and €60 million already distributed. CEO Bjorn Gulden confirmed these details during a press conference, emphasising the company’s commitment to moving forward.

Prada’s CEO indicated on Tuesday that the Italian fashion group was at least looking at potential mergers and acquisitions, following reports linking them with possible deals for fellow luxury brands Versace and Jimmy Choo.
Speaking after Prada, which has defied a slowdown in luxury demand to outperform many of its peers, reported a widely expected 21% increase in operating profit last year. Andrea Guerra gave no details of potential tie-ups but suggested it was open to opportunities.
“On one side we are focused on our brands. On the other side … when things come around, you’ll look at them,” Guerra said, when asked about the group’s investment strategy on a post-earnings call. A source told Reuters last month that Prada, controlled by designer Miuccia Prada and her husband Patrizio Bertelli, has been given access to Versace’s financial data.
Bloomberg News reported on Sunday that Prada was moving closer to a deal after agreeing a price of nearly 1.5 billion euros ($1.6 billion) for the business founded by the late Gianni Versace in the 1970s, where his sister Donatella has been the creative head for more than two decades.
Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reported on Tuesday that Prada is interested in the acquisition of both Jimmy Choo and Versace from current owner Capri Holdings (CPRI.N) for a total outlay of between 1.5 billion euros and 2 billion euros. The group’s Chief Financial Officer Andrea Bonini had earlier said it did not comment on rumours when asked about the group’s potential interest in Versace and Jimmy Choo.
Growth Maintained
Prada, which is listed in Hong Kong, reported a 17% increase in net revenues in 2024 to 5.4 billion euros ($5.7 billion), matching analysts’ expectations, according to data from LSEG. The group had a net cash position of 600 million euros at the end of December, which could help to fund a potential acquisition.
Revenues grew by double figures across all regions, with the exception of the Americas, which reported 9% growth thanks to an improvement in the second half of the year. The Asia Pacific region saw a good performance over the year, with 13% growth, with an improvement in the last quarter across all main areas. Retail sales, which account for most of the total sales, rose 18% in 2024, thanks mainly to the smaller Miu Miu brand, which posted 93% growth over the year. Growth at Prada’s main brand was more moderate, around 4% year-on-year. “For the year ahead, we retain our ambition to deliver solid, sustainable, and above-market growth,” Guerra said in the earnings statement.

‘Shark Tank Pakistan’ is a Pakistani reality television series in which bold entrepreneurs pitch their innovative ideas to Pakistan’s top business tycoons in hopes of attracting investments for their businesses.
The first season of the show aired on November 3 2024, and grabbed massive attention from audiences across the country. Here are some important insights from the show, from the judges to the famous pitches, so let’s get to know it all.
Shark Tank Judges and What They Do
Shark Tank Pakistan brought together a diverse panel of seven investors in total. Here is an introduction to each of these prominent business figures.
Romanna Dada
Romanna Dada is a Dubai-based businesswoman with more than 20 years of experience as an investor, banker, consultant, venture builder, and founder of Women Collective and other PWC ventures. She has been very successful in her career and has also helped many businesses on the Shark Tank platform.
This shark is an MIT alum and is the CEO & Founder of EduFi, bringing innovative financial solutions to education in Pakistan. She has also previously worked at big companies like “Ventura Capital” and “Goldman Sachs” and understands well how business and money work on a global level. Surely, Shark Tank pitchers were lucky to get help from a shark as efficient as Aleena.
From MIT to Morgan Stanley and now leading Sarmayacar, this judge is among the most polished entrepreneurs in Pakistan. He really cares about helping Pakistani businesses succeed. Warraich has invested in some famous companies, including Bykea, Dawaai, ProCheck and Patari, which shows how much he believes in the future of Pakistani startups. So, surely all the business owners that were able to get him on board were in good hands.
This Pakistani-American titan in tech has a 25-year history in the world of technology and was the most experienced among all the Shark Tank judges of season 1. Faisal started a VC firm, Zayn VC, and is known for his game-changing ideas about technology.
With his help, companies he’s invested in (including Haball, NayaPay and Bookme.pk.) have raised over 50 CRORE rupees. His guidance was invaluable for the emerging entrepreneurs who pitched on the show.
This judge, Junaid Iqbal, is the founder and CEO of Salt Ventures. He is also the head of Careem Pay, which is a way to pay for things using Careem, a popular ride-hailing app. Before Careem, Junaid was the CEO of a company called Elixir Securities, which helped people invest their money. He was also one of the first people to work at CNBC Pakistan, a famous news channel.
Who wouldn’t want a judge as experienced as Junaid? Shar Tank Pakistan did a favour by getting him on board.
Junaid Iqbal
Usman Bashir
The show also had another veteran on board. Usman has over 15-plus years of experience in the retail and gas station industry, as well as related to Breaktime Corner Market LLC.
Lastly, to wrap up this list we have Karim Teli, the managing director of IGLOO Ice Cream. Teli’s entrepreneurial spirit and business-minded thinking have revolutionised Pakistan’s ice cream industry.
His global impact in business management and IT added a robust retail and consumer goods perspective to the shark team.
The Most Famous Pitches of the Shark Tank Season 1
Some of the most famous pitches from the first season of Shark Tank Pakistan include:
AiBL’s AI-Integrated Prosthetics
This season, Hasnain Khan and Ali Raza Mohsin pitched their idea of creating AI-integrated prosthetics for people with disabilities. This was proved to be a very innovative idea and gained a lot of attention from the whole nation.
Agribotx’s Robotics-Based Farming
Anjum Javed pitched his idea of creating robots to modernise farming practices in Pakistan. This was a much-needed business idea as a great portion of our country’s economy depends on farming, and hence this idea stood out a lot for judges and interested viewers.
Aeroengine Craft Private Limited’s Aerospace Tech
Dr. Sara Qureshi pitched her company’s work in building drones and other aerospace tech. This innovation by Sara had the potential to be revolutionary for the aeronautical industry.
Important Tips That We Learned from These Pitches
Always tell a compelling story to gain the attention of the audience.
Share your personal journey to connect with people.
Explain the inspiration behind your product.
Create an emotional connection with the investors for connectivity.
Provide complex technical details and do your homework beforehand.
Highlight the potential for growth in your sector so that the sharks get interested in investing in your business.
Entrepreneur Who Succeeded in Getting the Biggest Investment
The largest deal on the show was made with a trading company, Saraaf. This company was a commodity-sourcing company that specialised in importing and exporting minerals and commodities. They aimed to connect international markets with suppliers in Central and South Asia.
Saraaf closed a deal of 5 million USD (RS. 200 Crore) that set new records for the history of Shark Tank. This incredible accomplishment surpassed the previous record of $2.5 million, setting a new benchmark worldwide.
Why Some Businesses Failed to Get the Investments?
Some entrepreneurs on Shark Tank Pakistan failed to secure investments due to a combination of factors. This included concerns about the business model’s scalability and unclear product quality that had chances of getting customer complaints.
Many business ideas also lacked market research, had inadequate financial projections and high valuation expectations, which made the investors uncertain about wanting to invest in a business like that. Additionally, it was seen that the businesses that failed to comply with Pakistan’s regulatory environment and had potential taxation issues were also rejected consistently.
Will there be a Shark Tank Season 2?
Overall, the whole season was an immense success and showcased the interest our nation holds in such reality shows. Some gave constructive criticism and preferred the show to be more about empowering entrepreneurs and less about investment. Nonetheless, this was just a tiny bit of criticism and the show was still widely praised. The success of the show now has people waiting for season two. Will there be one? Well, the official website suggests that there will be an upcoming season, but there is still yet no official announcement. I guess we have to remain patient.

Americans Seek UK Citizenship After Trump’s Re-Election
The number of Americans applying for UK citizenship hit a record high last year. Over 6,100 people applied — a 26% increase from 2023. Trump’s return to power and changes in UK tax laws pushed more US citizens to seek British passports.
Applications spiked by 40% in the last three months of 2024, reaching around 1,700. Immigration lawyers linked the rise to US political uncertainty and Britain’s decision to end non-dom tax status.
“Elena Hinchin, a lawyer at Farrer & Co, said US politics is driving more interest in UK citizenship. ‘We’ve seen a big increase since the election began,’ she explained.” Wealthy Americans also rushed to get passports before leaving the UK to keep future options open for themselves and their children.
People can get UK citizenship by meeting certain rules, such as living in the UK for a set period, having British parents, or marrying a British citizen. Home Office data shows that US applications have steadily risen since 2022.
Madeleine Sumption, from Oxford University’s Migration Observatory, noted that personal reasons often play a more significant role in seeking citizenship than politics. However, politics can still influence decisions.
British citizenship searches surged the day after the US election. Americans who moved to the UK during Trump’s first term (2016–2020) are now eligible to apply.
Meanwhile, applications for Irish citizenship from North Americans with Irish roots rose by 46% last year.
