Rishabh Pant Ruled Out Of Old Trafford Test

rishabh-pant-ruled-out-of-india-england-test

Cricket fans watching Day 1 of the fourth Test at Old Trafford were left holding their breath, not for a thrilling finish, but in concern, as India’s vice-captain Rishabh Pant was wheeled off the field with yet another injury.

The flamboyant wicket-keeper, known for his fearless strokeplay and daredevil spirit, has been ruled out of the remainder of the Manchester Test and the final game at The Oval next week.

Scans have confirmed the worst: a metatarsal fracture in his right foot, sustained on Day 1 of the fourth Test when Pant attempted a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes.

The ball ricocheted straight onto his front foot, and it was immediately clear that something was wrong. He looked in visible agony, eventually retiring hurt on 37 and being transported off the field in a golf buggy.

Painful déjà vu for Team India

Sadly, this isn’t Pant’s first knock in the series. Just a match ago at Lord’s, he took a hit to his left index finger while keeping.

Now, with this fresh injury, India’s team management finds itself scrambling yet again. The visuals outside the team hotel didn’t paint a pretty picture either; fans spotted Pant hobbling in a moon boot, confirming that the damage was more than just a bruise.

According to initial assessments, the recovery timeline could stretch from six to eight weeks. While he’s officially ruled out of keeping for the rest of the match, there’s still a slim chance, depending on the medical team’s advice, that Pant might bat in the second innings. But frankly, it’s a long shot.

The ripple effect: Jurel likely to step up

With Pant sidelined, Dhruv Jurel is expected to don the gloves again. He had stepped in after Pant’s finger injury at Lord’s and will likely reprise his role in the remaining days of the match, and possibly at The Oval as well.

India’s skipper, Shubman Gill, was seen checking in on Pant at the medical facility before he was taken for further scans at a local hospital.

The team’s concern was echoed by England spinner Liam Dawson, who summed it up by saying, “I can’t see him playing much more part in this game.”

His brief knock, a 48-ball 37, was a classic Rishabh Pant innings: fearless, funky and full of flair. A slog sweep off Jofra Archer, followed by a reverse sweep off Woakes, captured the essence of the man. But this time, that instinct cost him dearly.

This injury is more than just a personal setback. For India, who trail 2-1 in the five-match series, Pant’s absence is a serious dent in both the batting order and the dressing room energy.

Ravi Shastri Picks India vs Australia Over Pakistan

india-pakistan-clash-in-icc-events-wcl-cricket-returns-to-the-olympics-what-we-know-about-la-2028

Nothing in cricket stirs emotions like an India vs Pakistan showdown. The history, the politics, the fanfare… it’s always been more than just a game. But if Ravi Shastri’s recent remarks are anything to go by, the crown for cricket’s fiercest rivalry may have shifted.

Speaking on the Stick to Cricket podcast with Michael Vaughan, Shastri dropped a bold take: India vs Australia has overtaken India vs Pakistan as the sport’s most competitive modern-day rivalry.

“In the years I played, it was definitely India-Pakistan,” Shastri reflected. “The global attention it draws is massive.” And he’s right, whether it’s an ICC tournament or the Asia Cup, this clash still breaks viewership records and fills stadiums.

From emotional spectacle to cricketing theatre

Shastri, who’s seen both sides as a player and a coach, was quick to acknowledge the unique intensity of India-Pakistan matches. In fact, he even ranked it above the Ashes in terms of excitement and global buzz.

Yet, he pointed out a crucial shift that the rivalry with Australia has grown teeth.

“In the last 10 years, India-Australia has taken over,” he said. “In pure cricketing terms, India, Australia, and England have had some fantastic series.” And it’s hard to argue with that.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy has delivered edge-of-the-seat drama, incredible comebacks, and performances that have become instant classics.

Just look at the 2024 Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, a staggering 373,691 fans turned up across five days, breaking a record that had stood since the era of Don Bradman.

Rivalry redefined by the format

Here’s the thing: India and Pakistan haven’t played a Test match since 2007-08, and their last bilateral series happened more than a decade ago in 2012-13. The political tensions mean the two sides only meet in tournaments, reducing the frequency and variety of their encounters.

Meanwhile, India and Australia have battled across formats, in every condition, with full-strength squads. There’s mutual respect, sure, but also no love lost on the field. From Kohli vs Smith to Bumrah vs Warner, the battles have been world-class.

What fans really want?

For fans, it’s not just about the flags or the hype. It’s about watching top-quality cricket. While India-Pakistan still delivers on emotion, the India-Australia rivalry thrives on cricketing excellence. It’s fast becoming the clash that defines an era.

That said, the India-Pakistan chapter is far from closed. With each tournament, it returns like a festival, brief, intense and unforgettable. Broadcasters pray for it. Fans live for it.

But if you’re judging by cricketing consistency, series intensity, and sheer competitiveness, Ravi Shastri might just be spot on.

Pakistan, Afghanistan, UAE Tri-Nation Series Nears Green Light

pakistan-afghanistan-uae-tri-nation-series-nears-green-light

What started as a simple bilateral series between Pakistan and Afghanistan is now shaping up to be a much bigger affair.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has pitched an exciting new idea, turning the two-team showdown into a full-fledged tri-nation T20I series, bringing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) into the mix.

With the 2025 Asia Cup just around the corner, the idea is to give the players some quality match time in UAE conditions, helping them get used to the pitches, heat and overall environment.

Final talks in Dhaka

All eyes are on the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting happening today in Dhaka, Bangladesh. According to insiders, this is where the final touches are expected to be made. The schedule, venues, and format of the tri-nation series between Pakistan, Afghanistan and UAE are likely to be ironed out on the sidelines of the official sessions.

Interestingly, despite some initial resistance from India, Sri Lanka and Oman regarding the venue, the ACC President Mohsin Naqvi seems to have pulled off a diplomatic win.

Out of 25 member countries, 24 are attending, a strong show of unity. Even the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which had raised eyebrows, is attending virtually, with Vice-President Rajeev Shukla set to join online.

A strategic move by the PCB

From a cricketing point of view, this tri-series could prove vital. UAE offers a neutral, familiar venue for all three teams, and Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the same conditions. For Pakistan, shifting the series from home turf to the UAE not only avoids logistical challenges but also boosts their preparation for the continental event.

Moreover, involving Afghanistan and the UAE gives the competition more edge and variety. Afghanistan have shown their T20 prowess time and again, and UAE, although relatively new to the top tier, will benefit massively from playing against stronger opponents.

The Zombies are Back, and So are New Victims: All of Us Are Dead Season 2 Incoming!

the-zombies-all-of-us-are-dead-season-2-incoming

South Korean series fans will be overjoyed: All of Us Are Dead Season 2 is in production. Three years on from its explosive Season 1 release in January 2022, the series is back with another chapter of zombie apocalypse survival.

Netflix released a heart-stopping table-read teaser in July 2025, hinting at familiar characters returning and fresh horrors. The following is a guide to everything we know so far, from cast reunions and narrative direction to production news.

Production Starts & Table-Read Teaser

Netflix unveiled on July 23, 2025, that filming has commenced with a script reading teaser featuring familiar and new faces.

Production began in earnest, which marked the network’s intention to bring bigger terrors and wider vistas beyond Hyosan High. Showrunners Lee JQ and Kim Nam‑su are back to lead the dark, suspenseful tone that enthusiasts adore.

Main survivors, Park Ji‑hu (Nam On‑jo), Yoon Chan‑young (Cheong‑san), Cho Yi‑hyun (Nam‑ra), and Lomon (Su‑hyeok), will be back, resuming post-high-school life in Seoul. Be prepared to see them face trauma and development. Nam‑ra’s hybrid status might bring new virus mutations and threats in an environment of growing threats.

New Faces & Wider Conflict

New allies and enemies will enter the fray. Lee Min‑jae, Kim Si‑eun, Roh Jae‑won, Yoon Ga‑i, and others introduce new dynamics, tongue-in-cheekly referred to as university students and NIS agents fighting epidemics in the city.

Their arrival heralds a broadened scope: Season 2 shifts from school hallways to Seoul streets, escalating stakes in settings and narratives alike.

Season 2 jumps ahead a few years: Nam On-jo attends Seoul University when a fresh zombie outbreak strikes the city.

This change puts old and new characters through new stress, with the virus mutating and putting a much larger group of people at risk. The survivors have more difficult decisions to make, on campus and in the political-military sphere.

High Expectations & Challenges Ahead

Netflix pushed production from 2024 to 2025 to maintain high standards. Post-production and visual effects should carry over into 2026. The initial season gained more than 474 million viewing hours in 30 days, so expectations are high.

Fans want brutal zombie action, character development, and world-building. With the same creative team in place, things are expected, but execution is crucial.

All of Us Are Dead Season 2 promises a grander, darker continuation of a beloved zombie saga. With core survivors returning, fresh characters entering, and a new outbreak setting centred on Seoul University, we’re poised for intense action and deeper character exploration.

As production wraps and editing begins, late 2026 seems like a realistic target for release. For teen horror, emotional trauma, and world-building thrills fans, this next chapter is already looking to deliver the goods, and then some.

Maryam Nawaz Reviews Post-Flood Situation in Nankana Sahib

maryam-nawaz-reviews-post-flood-situation-in-nankana-sahib

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited Nankana Sahib and nearby villages for two and a half hours on Wednesday to review the post-flood situation.

She announced the construction of two flood drains in the district to protect residents from flood torrents. Additionally, she directed officials to complete roads and other development projects without delay.

The CM instructed authorities to prepare a beautification plan for Nankana Sahib within two weeks and release funds quickly. She also announced more electric buses for the district, reaffirming her commitment to transforming Nankana Sahib into a model city.

Furthermore, she ordered the installation of zebra crossings and signboards near schools and demanded strict control over ‘roti’ prices.

Maryam Nawaz emphasised the need to expand clinics-on-wheels across Nankana Sahib. She also ordered improvements to city entrance routes, main roads, and shoulder roads. Moreover, she directed that Dafar Khokhran and other villages be included in the Model Village Scheme.

Later, she inspected damaged houses and agricultural land in flood-affected areas like Jaslani Mor.

She personally launched the distribution of relief goods by PDMA in Miranpur village. PDMA teams provided special kits, mosquito nets, and clothing to affected families. During her interaction with victims, an elderly woman prayed for her after the model village announcement.

Maryam said, “I have come to meet you; I have to converse with you as well,” while greeting women individually.

The CM also toured Dholar Chowk, Gurdwara Janm Asthan Chowk, DPS Chowk, Berry Chowk, Chungi Chowk, Railway Road, Peer Ahmad Shah Road, and Mananwala Phatak. At the Deputy Commissioner’s office, she held a meeting with parliament members. Officials briefed her that floods submerged 1,525 acres of land and impacted 22 villages.

She directed financial support for farmers and families whose mud houses collapsed. She warned that land grabbing by the land mafia would be considered a failure of local officers. Expressing concern, she stated, “It is heartrending to see the treatment being meted out to the people of Punjab in the past. I am deeply concerned about resolving the issues of the general public on a priority basis. Serving the people is not a favour to anyone, as it is my duty.”

Meanwhile, she praised Rescue 1122 for saving 23 stranded people during a flood in Gujrat. In Lahore, rainwater was cleared from roads within hours after heavy rainfall due to the quick action of LWMC, WASA, and Suthra Punjab teams.

Shot Dead for Choosing Love: How Pakistan Failed its Own Daughters

shot-dead-for-choosing-love-how-pakistan-failed-its-own-daughters

By: Hira Bajwa

A 24-year-old woman made a choice that millions take for granted: she fell in love and decided to marry. That choice cost her life.

In early June 2025, the young woman and her 32-year-old husband were executed in broad daylight in Balochistan’s remote Hanna area. Their crime? Marrying across tribal lines without family permission. Their punishment? Death by firing squad, carried out by their own relatives.

A Love Story Turned Nightmare

The young couple believed they were attending a family reconciliation meeting. Instead, they walked into a tribal council that had already condemned them to die.

The chilling video that later went viral shows the woman’s final moments: walking calmly toward her executioners, her voice steady as she speaks her last words in Brahui: “You are only allowed to fire at me, nothing else.”

These weren’t her killer’s words. They were hers; a young woman trying to maintain dignity even as her own family prepared to murder her for choosing love over tradition.

Her husband, standing nearby, watched his wife die before sharing the same fate. Two young lives, extinguished in minutes, their bodies left in the desert as a warning to others who might dare to choose their own destiny.

The Human Cost of “Honour”

Behind the term “honour killing” lies a cruel reality: families murdering their own children for asserting basic human rights. This young woman didn’t commit adultery, theft, or violence. She married someone she loved. In civilised societies, this would be celebrated. In parts of Pakistan, it remains a death sentence.

The video’s circulation sparked nationwide outrage, but for every case that goes viral, countless others remain hidden in remote villages where screams echo unheard and graves remain unmarked. Each represents a dream destroyed, a future stolen, a family torn apart by the very people meant to protect and nurture.

A Nation’s Shame, A Government’s Test

Pakistan’s response has been swift but telling. Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti ordered immediate arrests, with 11 suspects now in custody. A terrorism case has been filed, not by the victims’ families, who remained silent, but by the state itself.

This speaks volumes about how normalised such violence has become in certain communities.

Political leaders across party lines condemned the killings. “This is gender terrorism,” declared Senator Sherry Rehman. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reminded the nation that Islam permits women to choose their partners, a fact conveniently ignored by those who kill in religion’s name.

Beyond Condemnation: The Path to Change

Words of outrage, while necessary, are insufficient. Every time Pakistan allows such murders to occur with impunity, it signals to the world, and its own daughters, that women’s lives matter less than men’s pride.

This isn’t about respecting tradition; it’s about recognising that some traditions deserve to die so that people can live. Real honour lies in protecting the vulnerable, not murdering them. True strength comes from embracing change, not clinging to barbarism.

Pakistan stands at a crossroads. It can continue tolerating pockets where medieval brutality masquerades as justice, or it can finally declare that all Pakistani lives, regardless of gender, location, or family dynamics, have equal value.

Sheetal and Zarak will never see the Pakistan they deserve to live in. But their deaths can still save others, if we finally decide that love should triumph over hate, that choice should defeat compulsion, and that humanity should overcome horror.

The question isn’t whether Pakistan can change; it’s whether Pakistan will choose to.

Note: While some reports have identified the victims by name, authorities have not officially confirmed their identities as investigations continue.

Wildfire in Turkey’s Eskisehir Kills 10 Firefighters, Injures 14

wildfire-in-turkeys-eskisehir-kills-10-firefighters-injures-14

Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumakli reported ten firefighter deaths and fourteen injuries resulting from a fire in Turkey‘s central Eskisehir province on Wednesday. Firemen and rescuers have been working to confine the fire in the Seyitgazi area since Tuesday.

According to Yumakli, twenty-four firefighters were caught in the fire on Wednesday when a quick change in wind direction drove the flames toward them. Ten of them passed while fourteen were still under treatment; they were rapidly flown to the hospital.

Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc stated in a post on X that prosecutors have opened a legal inquiry into the event.

Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc on X

Minister Yumakli confirmed on Wednesday that seven fires were still ablaze in five western and central provinces. Firefighters work in these regions to monitor the spread of the fire.

Starting Tuesday, dry circumstances and powerful winds caused the fire in Seyitgazi to quickly spread. Emergency crews were sent to contain the fire and protect nearby populations.

Changing weather patterns exacerbated problems, nevertheless, leading to the devastating incident involving the firefighters.

Local authorities have urged residents to be cautious and avoid dangerous areas as the fire risk is still high. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire, and officials are watching the affected regions to prevent additional harm.

This catastrophe emphasises the risks firefighters encounter fighting wildfires, especially under erratic weather. Medical help is given to the injured; counseling is offered for the families of those who died.

Alibaba Launches Open Source AI Coding Model

alibaba-launches-open-source-ai-coding-model

As the global AI race heats up, Chinese tech giant Alibaba takes a significant leap forward by launching its Open Source AI Coding Model. Not only does this move impact the company’s standing, but it also strengthens China’s position in the competitive AI market.

Called the Qwen3-Coder, the Chinese company claimed that it matched the performance of established US AI models such as Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s GPT-4 in important domains.

Alibaba’s Qwen3-Coder Model Specialises in Code Development

Alibaba claims that the Qwen3-Coder is proficient in agentic coding tasks, having been designed to help developers write, manage, and understand large-scale software systems more efficiently.

The advanced AI model’s coding capabilities are reportedly superior to major domestic competitors, including models from DeepSeek and Moonshot AI’s K2 models, establishing the Qwen3-Coder as a leading force in the Chinese market.

Its standout feature is its Mixture-of-Experts architecture, which contains 480 billion parameters and uses 35 billion at one instant. This makes the model highly adaptable and efficient in complex tasks like coding.

Furthermore, the Qwen3-Coder has a massive context window. It can understand 256,000 tokens of input natively, but this number could be extended to 1 million tokens with extrapolation. This feature allows the model to work on extensive codebases.

Alibaba’s model also excels in agentic coding tasks as it can proficiently perform multiple coding tasks autonomously with minimal human intervention. Speaking on this feature, Forrester’s Charlie Gai, a principal analyst, stated:

“Its agentic capabilities, such as autonomously handling multi-step tasks like tool calls for Git or browser automation with extraordinary performance in SWE-Bench, signal a shift toward fully delegated TuringBots for coding workflow automation.”

The Chinese company also released a companion command-line tool, Qwen Code, adapted from the open-source Gemini Code project, which lets users interact with the model directly through their terminal and simplifies the coder’s integration into daily workflows.

High-Quality Alternative to Top Global Models

As a powerful, open-source model built for complex tasks, Alibaba’s Qwen3-Coder is a major leap in AI coding tools. With its huge context window and smart coding abilities, it gives developers a free, high-quality alternative to top global models.

While it has had profound impacts locally, it may also help China take the lead in the global AI race. The US has taken a restrictive approach in sharing its AI ecosystem, leaving the market open to Chinese alternatives, which are evolving with each passing day.

Google AI Overviews Hit 2 Billion Users Worldwide

google-ai-overviews-hit-2-billion-users-worldwide

Google’s AI Overviews have now reached more than 2 billion monthly users. The number was 1.5 billion last quarter, showing rapid growth. This reflects a major shift in online discovery and traffic patterns.

AI Overviews are generative summaries that appear above regular search results. They were launched in May 2023 and expanded widely in the U.S. by mid-2024. Since then, the feature has spread globally at a fast pace.

“AI overviews now have over 2 billion monthly users across more than 200 countries and territories and 40 languages,” said Google CEO Sundar Pichai on the company’s earnings call on Wednesday (July 23).

The growth is strong, adding 500 million users in one quarter. AI Overviews are becoming a key part of Google Search. For publishers, this shift impacts traffic and business models significantly.

“We know how popular AI overviews are because they are now driving over 10% more queries globally for the types of queries that show them, and this growth continues to increase over time,” Pichai added.

However, this does not mean AI Overviews account for 10% of all queries. It means that queries with AI Overviews see more engagement. The real effect on clicks and revenue is unclear.

A Pew Research Centre study shows early signs are negative for websites. When AI Overviews appear, only 8% of searches lead to a click, compared to 15% without them. Clicks on source links in Overviews are just 1%.

Google benefits the most from this change. Philipp Schindler, Google’s chief business officer, said AI Overviews “monetises at the same rate” as regular search. Publishers get no share unless traffic comes to their sites, which is falling.

Google is testing ads inside AI Overviews. This could lead to revenue sharing later. The company is also making deals with select publishers to keep them on board.

Regulators are watching closely. A U.S. judge may soon require Google to let publishers and YouTube creators opt out of AI training. In Europe, an antitrust complaint claims AI Overviews misuse content, hurting traffic and revenue.

Experts warn of a “Google Zero” future where clicks disappear. “We’re entering the post-click web: users get answers without needing to visit your site,” said Sam Hailstone of Brave Bison. SEO must now focus on presence and authority, not just rankings.

Where is Ayesha Sana? Actress Missing for Over 4 Years After Fraud Allegations

where-is-ayesha-sana-actress-missing-for-over-4-years-after-fraud-allegations

In a world where news travels at lightning speed, it’s truly astonishing how one of the biggest names in Pakistani television just disappeared without a trace. Ayesha Sana, a face we all recognised from TV screens and morning shows, has been missing for more than four years now.

The last significant headline about her wasn’t related to a new show or drama; it was an arrest warrant issued back in 2020. She faced accusations of financial fraud, allegedly taking money from acquaintances under pretences and vanishing without keeping her promises.

And just like that, no interviews, no statements, no public appearances. Absolutely nothing.

It seems like the legal world has moved on, but the public is still left wondering. What really happened to Ayesha Sana? Is she in hiding? Is she okay? Or did something even more troubling occur? These are the lingering questions that continue to trouble her followers and colleagues.

Fraud Allegations and Legal Silence

Financial irregularities have sadly become a common theme across various sectors, be it in government, private businesses, or even the entertainment industry. Yet, Ayesha Sana’s situation stands out as one of the most puzzling.

Back in 2020, an official arrest warrant was issued for her after complaints emerged from individuals alleging that she had taken their money and vanished. At the time, reports indicated that she had borrowed a hefty sum, promising to pay it back quickly or offer business opportunities. But then, she just disappeared.

What’s truly bizarre? There have been no updates. No legal actions taken. It’s been over four years, and still, no one has a clue about her whereabouts. Her social media accounts have gone quiet, her phone numbers are reportedly out of reach, and even the police seem to have hit a wall.

One has to wonder how someone with her level of fame manages to stay off the radar for so long.

A Call from the Industry: Where is She Now?

Recently, fellow actors have begun to ask questions after what happened to Humaira Asghar. A group of celebrities who try to keep tabs on fellow industry members, have been involved in checking in on missing or struggling artists. Their intentions are noble: to bring people together and support one another in an industry known for its ups and downs.

Their message is simple: Why has no one from our fraternity reached out or followed up about Ayesha Sana?

Regardless of the fraud case, shouldn’t someone from her circle at least find out if she’s safe, alive, or even reachable? Human decency should trump controversy.

The group aims to include her in their outreach and ensure she’s either helped or held accountable, depending on the situation. But ignoring her entirely is not the answer.

The reality is heartbreaking. A woman once known for her booming “Bright Karein Isay” line on morning TV has been reduced to whispers and conspiracy theories.

Thousands Stranded as Landslides Block Karakoram Highway

thousands-stranded-as-landslides-block-karakoram-highway

Landslides blocked major roads, including the Karakoram Highway (KKH), and stranded thousands of people in Gilgit-Baltistan. Among them were many foreign tourists. Flash floods also damaged fibre optic cables, which disrupted mobile and internet services across the region.

According to Gilgit-Baltistan government spokesperson Faizullah Faraq, “KKH is blocked at Achar Nallah in Kohistan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.” He explained that thousands of passengers on both sides of the highway cannot move. While the KKH section inside GB is open, clearance work in Kohistan continues. Several points on the Babusar Pass Road remain inaccessible.

Rescue teams have already evacuated all tourists from the Babusar route. Mr Faraq confirmed, “We brought them to Chilas, where local hoteliers and government authorities provided free accommodation.”

Floods in Babusar Valley destroyed the main optical fibre cable and caused a complete communication blackout for six hours. The Special Communications Organisation reported the damage and arranged emergency satellite systems. These measures restored limited connectivity, but users still faced slow internet speeds. Work to fully restore the system has already begun.

Deputy Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, Sadia Danish, voiced concern for 40 people stuck in Danyore’s Manogah Nallah. “The government must launch a helicopter rescue operation immediately,” she said.

Danish also praised the Pakistan Army, volunteers, and residents for supporting rescue efforts and thanked locals who opened homes, mosques, and hotels to stranded tourists.

Meanwhile, river erosion swept away the Hotu suspension bridge in Shigar, cutting off the only access to K2 base camp. This incident left many foreign climbers and trekkers stuck, while eight villages also lost road connections. NDMA officials announced plans to operate a C-130 flight from Gilgit to Islamabad to airlift travellers.

GB Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan vowed to continue rescue operations until everyone is safe. He declared Thaki, Niyat, Khunra, and Thor in Diamer as disaster zones.

The chief minister announced compensation for families of those who died and ordered urgent restoration of water, electricity, and roads. He personally visited flood-hit areas with senior officials to monitor recovery work.

AI’s Impact on White Collar Jobs: Will They Survive the Rise of AI?

will-white-collar-jobs-survive-the-rise-of-ai

When we first imagined artificial intelligence reshaping the world, many assumed it would come for the factory floor before the corner office. Machines would replace manual labour, robots would lift boxes, and self-driving trucks would render long-haul drivers obsolete.

But today, the disruption has climbed the corporate ladder.

The question is no longer “Can AI replace white-collar workers?” It’s “When and how much?”

The Changing Face of Work

White-collar jobs, traditionally those requiring a college degree, office hours, and a certain intellectual sheen, are increasingly within AI’s reach.

Tools like ChatGPT can write emails, summarise reports, and even draft legal briefs. AI assistants can schedule meetings, filter resumes, write code, and create financial models.

A 2023 report by Goldman Sachs estimated that 300 million jobs globally could be impacted by AI, with a disproportionate number in white-collar fields like legal work, finance, and administrative support.

And it’s not just back-end support. AI is now infiltrating high-skill domains once thought safe: journalists using AI to generate news briefs, lawyers relying on AI for case research, marketers using machine learning to personalise ads. Even software engineers (the architects of these systems) are watching AI write and debug code.

Efficiency or Erosion?

To some, this shift signals efficiency gains. Why spend hours formatting a deck when AI can do it in minutes? Why pour over financial statements when AI can extract key insights instantly?

But the darker side is hard to ignore. Automation in knowledge work doesn’t just mean support, it can mean substitution too. If a machine can write 70% of your report, what happens to the junior analyst? If it can review contracts faster than an entry-level lawyer, does the law firm still need that fresh graduate?

We’re entering an era where productivity might increase, but job security could decrease. In fact, it’s already happening.

IBM, for example, announced plans to pause hiring for roles that AI could potentially automate in the coming years.

The Human Advantage (for Now)

Still, there are things AI can’t replicate, at least not yet.

Human intuition, emotional intelligence, ethical judgment, and contextual understanding remain difficult for machines to master. In complex negotiations, crisis communication, creative direction, or nuanced leadership, humans still hold the upper hand.

Rather than a full replacement, experts predict a restructuring of roles. AI may take over repetitive, time-consuming tasks, freeing up professionals for more strategic or interpersonal work.

A financial analyst might spend less time crunching numbers and more time interpreting them. A marketer might rely on AI for insights but craft the emotional narrative themselves.

ais-impact-on-white-collar-jobs

The New Skills Game

In this evolving landscape, the biggest winners will be those who learn to work with AI, not against it. Critical thinking, digital literacy, creativity, and adaptability will define employability.

White-collar survival will depend less on credentials and more on how well individuals can collaborate with intelligent systems. Just as the calculator didn’t eliminate mathematicians, AI may not kill white-collar work but it will change what it means to be “skilled.”

White-collar jobs aren’t disappearing overnight, but they’re undeniably changing. AI is no longer a distant threat, it’s an active force reshaping how work gets done in boardrooms, law firms, media houses, and beyond.

The key to survival? Don’t fear the tool. Learn to master it. While we love ChatGPT and DeepSeek, let’s now get too dependent.

Because in the end, it’s not just about whether AI will take your job, it’s about whether you’ll evolve fast enough to keep it.

Ramzan Chhipa’s Attempt at Internet Virality: Why It’s Backfiring

ramzan-chhipas-attempt-at-internet-virality-why-its-backfiring

Chhippa, a noble social worker of the country, once immensely respected but now is widely getting trolled by the masses.

You probably know him from his ambulances and the helpline “1020,” but Gen Z knows him as a meme. First, it was Onijah, now it’s Chhipa’s own Instagram that’s becoming the reason.

We will tell why Chhipa is getting trolled but one thing is for sure: social workers are made for social welfare and charities, not for algorithms and virality chase.

Does it count as charity when acts of generosity are deliberately captured on camera and exude ‘cringe?’

Chhipa’s Attempt at Internet Virality

When a video of veteran humanitarian Ramzan Chhipa went viral this July, the internet wasn’t sure whether to laugh, cringe, or just sigh. In the now-infamous clip, Chhipa surprises a young boy with a birthday cake at a shop.

But instead of quietly doing a good deed, he stages the moment with the precision of a film director, telling the shopkeeper, “Write on the cake that it’s from Chhipa Sahab… but don’t tell them I arranged it.” The irony was almost too perfect. It screamed performative activism, and naturally, the internet ran with it. Memes followed, and the clip spread like wildfire.

The users rushed to comment sarcastic things like “batana mat kisney cake diya hai lekin bara bara mera naam likhdo cake pe.” Some also urged Chhipa to only stick to social work as the clout chasing is clearly not for him.

Amid the jokes, more genuine reactions also followed with comments applauding his dedication, discussions on the importance of visible kindness, and appreciation for getting youth to pay attention to philanthropy. Conversation spiked not just around the cake clip, but about the Chhipa Welfare Trust itself.

In a time when Pakistan is grappling with trust issues surrounding NGOs and public figures, this kind of content doesn’t inspire faith, and it’s the last thing you would want to give to a mass audience like Gen Z that will see right through it.

Why the Attempt at Virality Backfired?

On the surface, these series of latest Chhipa videos seem simple, an act of generosity caught on camera. But the execution was so theatrical, so drenched in awkward sincerity, that it begged the question: was this influenceristic tactic really necessary for a man as well-known as Chhipa?

And it’s not just the tone that’s off. Critics argue that these online stunts distract from the actual issues his organisation should be highlighting: poverty, access to emergency services, child abandonment, and more. The focus shifts from the work to the worker, from the cause to the personality.

It’s not just the tone that’s off. Critics also argue that these online stunts distract from the actual issues his organisation should be highlighting i.e poverty, access to emergency services, child abandonment, and more.

All in all, the very attempts that were supposed to make the video go viral (for negative attention) also rased alot of red flags for the organisation’s reputation.

Critics, including model and TV personality Nadia Hussain, slammed it as “cringe content and pathetic,” igniting further debate. Some social media users pointed out the inherent contradiction in announcing a secret gift. Others questioned whether such theatrics diminish the gravity of humanitarian work, turning service into spectacle.

And they have a point. When philanthropic gestures become viral content, there’s a risk that the work itself gets diluted. The metrics shift from lives saved to likes gained. Empathy becomes episodic. Worse, it sets a precedent where humanitarian credibility is measured by media visibility, not long-term impact.

What happens to dignity when charity becomes entertainment?

What Could Have Been Done Differently?

If social media is used well it can help amplify a humanitarian’s message. Think of Edhi’s simple and humble presence, even in clips that went viral posthumously, the dignity remained. The contrast is stark.

Instead of mimicking influencer culture, Chhipa could have embraced authenticity by highlighting real stories from the field (like only recently how big of a role his team played in Humaira Asghar’s case) and putting the spotlight on the people they serve, not himself.

Perhaps it’s time to drop the hashtags and let the real work speak for itself because it already has for years. We know our beloved humanitarian Chhipa can do better than this.

Groundbreaking IVF Trial Paves the Way to Healthier Babies Free from Hereditary Diseases

A new IVF study may have significant implications for the management of genetic diseases.

When IVF emerged, it revolutionised reproductive healthcare by allowing infertile couples to have genetically related children. The rise of surrogacy added another layer of possibility, removing the often challenging physical demands of pregnancy.

The procedure has only grown more sophisticated with time, having significant implications for reproductive health and conception.

A recent groundbreaking study in the UK has created IVF embryos free from mitochondrial diseases that they could have potentially inherited.

Eight Healthy IVF Babies

In the aforementioned UK trial, women carrying life-threatening mitochondrial diseases were selected and given mitochondrial donation treatment via a complex three-parent IVF procedure.

The mother’s egg is fertilised by the father’s sperm. The nucleus is extracted from the fertilised egg and is transferred to a healthy donor egg with no nucleus.

The resulting embryo, with nuclear DNA from its parents and mitochondrial DNA from the healthy donor, is implanted into the uterus to establish pregnancy.

The first eight babies born were healthy at birth with absent or low levels of mutant mitochondria inherited from the mother. They are unlikely to develop mitochondrial diseases in the future.

However, a problem arises for mothers affected by varying levels of mutant mitochondria. For such women, pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT) can be used to select eggs with the lowest chances of disease transmission.

This trial has been life-altering for families whose generations could have been affected by lethal mitochondrial disease. A mother of one of the healthy IVF babies said:

“As parents, all we ever wanted was to give our child a healthy start in life. After years of uncertainty, this treatment gave us hope, and then it gave us our baby … we’re overwhelmed with gratitude. Science gave us a chance.”

Mitochondrial genetic diseases have a high disease burden, affecting 1 in every 5000 newborns.  They are transmitted down the maternal line, meaning that affected mothers are likely to have affected children.

Such treatments offer hope to these families, helping them create and raise healthy children free from mitochondrial diseases.

ivf-was-a-scientific-breakthrough
IVF was a scientific breakthrough

A Leap Forward in the Prevention of Genetic Diseases

Mitochondrial DNA mutations can have catastrophic consequences because they primarily affect energy-demanding organs, such as the brain, heart, and muscles.

A foolproof and targeted prevention strategy against these diseases can help affected families avoid potentially debilitating and incurable diseases.

The UK trial was a success, but it requires careful oversight and strict regulation. Ongoing follow-ups will be essential to monitor the health and development of the children involved, and thoughtful ethical considerations must be addressed before introducing such procedures to the wider public.

Nonetheless, the trial has opened new doors and offered hope, reminding many that the future may be brighter than they once believed.

Microsoft Rushes to Stop Hackers from Creating Global Cyber Chaos

Source: Seattle Times

This week, Microsoft confirmed that a highly sophisticated hacking group, some probably sponsored by Chinese state players, has taken advantage of a critical SharePoint zero-day flaw.

The attack hit about 100 organisations, from federal agencies and energy firms to universities and foreign legal entities. While Microsoft scrambled out emergency fixes, it cautions that the threat remains. For business, government, and IT professionals, this warning highlights the imperative to respond quickly to emergencies, scan thoroughly, and be watchful of patch management.

The SharePoint Flaw: A Hidden Time Bomb

The vulnerability, known as “ToolShell,” originally emerged at a cybersecurity competition in May. Microsoft patched it on July 8, but preliminary reports indicated this patch didn’t quite stop the bad guys.

Attackers kept placing web shells, stealing cryptographic keys, and altering SharePoint data. The time between discovery and safe lockdown was hazardous, hitting 8,000–9,000 servers worldwide, though just around 100 breaches have been confirmed.

Microsoft Rushes to Stop Hackers from Creating Global Cyber Chaos

Hackers Behind the Curtain

Microsoft blames the attack on three Chinese-affiliated groups: Linen Typhoon, Violet Typhoon, and Storm-2603. Their campaign was about espionage, directed at intellectual property, sensitive documents, and government secrets.

Cybersecurity companies such as Google’s Mandiant and Eye Security reported the rapid weaponisation of the exploit. The Chinese embassy denied the attack, but this is another episode in the nascent cyber Cold War, increasing geopolitical tensions and international concern.

Microsoft began with an “emergency update,” deploying patches to major SharePoint releases. But initial reports showed that the patch failed to completely eliminate exploit chains.

In just days, Microsoft issued follow-up critical patches and published a guidance bulletin calling for immediate update, key rotation, and endpoint scans. In turn, the U.S. CISA, FBI, Canadian, and Australian authorities joined Microsoft in calling for swift deployment of these steps to prevent further breaches.

Ripple Effects: Why this Threat Hits Hard

SharePoint drives critical workflows; government document sharing, corporate intranets, education repositories. Web shells in the hands of attackers mean intercepting correspondence, impacting operations, embedding persistent backdoors, or even deleting data.

Compromises cut across energy, healthcare, finance, academia, and even military domains. This isn’t a one-off; it illustrates how a single unpatched enterprise software bug can bring global security and business confidence crashing down.

Microsoft’s Broader Security Challenge

This is not the first high-stakes event for Microsoft. Equally devastating zero-days breached Exchange servers in 2021 and haunted Windows updates previously. Some critics argue that Microsoft should have responded more swiftly following the Berlin contest discovery.

With approximately 9,000 at-risk servers, the size of exposure underscores the sensitive balance between disclosure, patching, and mitigation. Microsoft comes under greater scrutiny for its vulnerability handling and patching procedures.

Microsoft’s frantic attempt to plug the SharePoint breach demonstrates how rapidly cyberattacks can snowball. Despite crisis patches, attackers might still manage to stay under the radar by using web shells or residual credentials.

If you have SharePoint deployed on-prem, move now: deploy all patches, reclaim retired keys, scan for suspicious behaviour, and monitor endpoints.

As Ozzy Osbourne Passes Away, Here are 5 Songs that Defined Him

as-ozzy-osbourne-passes-away-here-are-5-songs-that-defined-him

Ozzy Osbourne’s death ends an era. His groundbreaking doom-metal with Black Sabbath to his legendary solo image, The Prince of Darkness, inspired generations. Music-lovers around the world will forever remember him.

Here are five tracks that cover his early career and solo success. They illustrate raw energy, self-reflection, theatricality, and experience unencumbered by anything but raw emotion. These are the songs that made a legend.

1. “Paranoid” (1970)

As Black Sabbath’s first major hit from their 1970 album, “Paranoid” launched heavy metal into mainstream consciousness. At just under three minutes, it packs intense riffs, pounding drums, and lyrics reflecting existential stress during a turbulent era.

The track reached No. 4 on the UK chart and became a timeless anthem, often topping “greatest metal songs” lists. Ozzy’s snarling vocals and black charisma provided the template for hard rock.

2. “Iron Man” (1972)

Few riffs have the distinctive crunch of “Iron Man.” The plodding, foreboding opening by Tony Iommi is followed by thundering power chords, immediately identifying it. The song reached No. 52 on the Billboard Hot 100, earning Black Sabbath a 2000 Grammy for Best Metal Performance.

Ozzy’s growling vocals and haunting narrative demonstrated his capacity to bring ominous characters to life, a fundamental aspect of his lore.

3. “Crazy Train” (1980)

Ozzy’s debut solo hit after quitting Sabbath, “Crazy Train,” burst onto the charts with an adrenaline-driven intensity. It’s guitar riff is one of the greatest rock solos of all time, and the lyrics address Cold War paranoia.

The track is his most-played, according to Metal Hammer’s head of content, who has earned more than half a billion streams. It redefined Ozzy, no longer merely fronting a group, but emerging as a solo artist.

4. “Mr. Crowley” (1980)

Also from Blizzard of Ozz, “Mr. Crowley” delves into the occult with a mysterious atmosphere. With Randy Rhoads’ chilling intro solo and Ozzy’s menacing tone, it delves into the infamous occultist Aleister Crowley.

The song is considered one of the all-time greatest metal songs. It solidified Ozzy’s image for combining theatrics and dark material with musical refinement.

5. “Shot in the Dark” (1986)

From The Ultimate Sin, this 1980s glam-metal anthem was Ozzy’s chart debut, reaching No. 68 on the Billboard Hot 100 forbes.com

These five songs, ranging from Sabbath’s dark beginnings to Ozzy’s solo makeover, chronicle his odyssey: an odyssey of power, darkness, rebellion, and rebirth.

“Paranoid” and “Iron Man” set it in motion; “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Crowley” propelled him as a solo superstar; “Shot in the Dark” demonstrated his capacity to evolve.

Collectively, they demonstrate why Ozzy Osbourne is one of rock’s most impactful voices. His legacy is not in his last show; it continues with every riff he bellowed into the annals of history.

Rankings Crash for Pakistan’s T20I Stars Amid Bangladesh Series

rankings-crash-for-pakistan-t20i-stars-bangladesh-pakistan-likely-to-miss-out-olympics-la-2028-cricket-spot

It’s been a rough week for the Pakistan cricket team, and the latest ICC T20I Rankings now reflect it. The latest update by the International Cricket Council paints a gloomy picture for the Men in Green, who are currently trailing 2-0 in the three-match series against Bangladesh in Mirpur.

A Slide Down the Ladder

The rankings dip didn’t come out of the blue. Pakistan’s performances in the first two games have been well below par, and the numbers tell the full story.

Take Mohammad Haris, for instance. The wicket-keeper managed just four runs in two matches and has now dropped 20 spots to 50th in the batting rankings.

Saim Ayub, the stylish left-hander many hoped would shine on this tour, hasn’t fared any better. After scoring just seven runs across both games, he’s slipped three places to 64th.

Middle-order batter Hassan Nawaz has had a nightmare outing so far. Two ducks in two games saw him tumble a massive 22 spots, crashing down to 68th place.

Even skipper Salman Ali Agha couldn’t steady the ship. With just 12 runs from 32 balls, he’s now down 18 places to 93rd. It’s been a forgettable few days for the entire top and middle order.

Fakhar, Abbas Offer a Sliver of Positivity

Amid all the gloom, Fakhar Zaman gave Pakistan fans something to cheer about. His 44-run knock in the opening game was one of the few moments of resistance, and it’s helped him climb eight spots to 79th in the batting charts.

And while Abbas Afridi dropped two spots in the bowling rankings to 22nd, he’s made a noticeable impact with the bat. Scores of 22 and 19 in the lower order saw him leap 26 places to 45th in the T20I all-rounders’ list.

Injuries and Absences Take a Toll

Injuries have also played a part in Pakistan’s downward trend. Haris Rauf, still recovering from injury, has slipped four spots to 24th among bowlers. Shaheen Afridi, also absent from the squad, dropped two spots to 36th.

But one bright development came from mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed. He climbed 12 places to 49th after turning in steady performances, showing that persistence still pays off even when the team’s overall form is patchy.
