Pakistan’s Champions Trophy 2025 journey began on a bitter note as they lost to New Zealand in Karachi. Although the overall performance of the team was less than desirable, the limelight was on Babar Azam’s innings—a 64-run score off 90 balls—that was the target of severe social media criticism.
A Cautious Approach That Backfired
Pursuing a formidable target of 321, Pakistan required a solid beginning. But a premature jolt saw makeshift opener Saud Shakeel struggling to make runs, scoring only 6 off 19 deliveries. To Pakistan’s misfortune, skipper Mohammad Rizwan also fell cheaply. Fakhar Zaman, who is normally responsible for explosive beginnings, was relegated down the order because of an injury, further hampering the chase.
In the midst of this, Babar Azam played a conservative game, anchoring the innings but not being able to up the pace. Pakistan had managed to cross 70 runs only by the 21st over, giving the required run rate a rocketing boost. Babar’s failure to change gears despite reaching his half-century came at a huge cost, and he was finally out, leaving Pakistan in an even deeper hole.

Social Media Trolls Show No Mercy
Fans and commentators swiftly shared their indignation, memes and ironic analyses dominating X (formerly Twitter). A cricket meme account popular amongst followers poked fun at the slow innings by Babar and cited his cautious playing style:
“After batting for 21 overs they have yet to reach 70 runs and our boi Bobby Badshah occupied setting up Academy profile picture.”
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra opined too, querying the plan of action in play for Pakistan:
“How was required run-rate permitted to reach almost 10 an over with half the game remaining?? With Babar still at the crease?? Pakistan’s digging a deeper hole…”
Comedian Danish Sait, on the other hand, gave it a lighter twist by joking that Babar was “playing a completely different game in his head.”
A Wake-Up Call for Pakistan?
Pakistan’s inability to pace their chase effectively cost them dearly in the opening match. While Babar’s approach may have been well-intentioned, it highlights a recurring issue in Pakistan’s batting strategy—failing to adapt to the situation.
With tougher matches ahead, the team will need to significant rethink, especially when it comes to intent in high-pressure chases. Otherwise, social media will continue to have a field day at their expense.

Virat Kohli and records—name a better duo. The Indian batting maestro is once again on the verge of rewriting history, and this time, it’s a big one. When India takes on Bangladesh in their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 opener, Kohli has a golden chance to surpass the legendary Sachin Tendulkar in yet another record.
14,000 ODI Runs – Just 37 Away!
Kohli is just 37 runs short of becoming only the third player in ODI history to reach 14,000 runs, joining Tendulkar and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara in this elite club.
What makes it even more special? If he gets there against Bangladesh, he will have done it in 286 innings—a whopping 64 innings faster than Tendulkar, who took 350 innings to reach the same milestone.
It’s one thing to break records, but doing it at such a pace? That’s pure Kohli madness.
Aiming for 1,000 Runs Against Bangladesh
That’s not the only milestone in sight. Kohli is just 90 runs away from becoming the first Indian batter to score 1,000 ODI runs against Bangladesh.
His numbers against the Tigers are already outrageous—910 runs in 16 matches, with five centuries and three fifties. If there’s any batter Bangladesh would love to see the back of early, it’s him. But stopping Kohli when he’s on a mission? Easier said than done.
India’s Champions Trophy campaign begins at the Dubai International Stadium, and all eyes will be on King Kohli. Given his record-breaking consistency, 37 runs feel like a mere formality. But as always, cricket is unpredictable.
And let’s not forget what’s coming up next—the high-voltage clash against Pakistan on February 23. If Kohli doesn’t get to 14,000 in the opener, you can bet he’ll be fired up to do it against India’s biggest rivals.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Agree on Joint Media Productions
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have decided to set up a joint committee to promote collaboration in producing songs, films and documentaries. The Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture, Attaullah Tarar and Saudi Media Minister Salman bin Youssef Al-Dosari reached this agreement during a meeting at the Saudi Media Forum.
Both countries also decided to expand cooperation through journalist exchange programmes and training opportunities. They stressed the need to work together against fake news and propaganda, highlighting the importance of accurate and responsible journalism.
Attaullah Tarar congratulated the Saudi Minister on organising the fourth edition of the Saudi Media Forum. Pakistan’s strong ties with Saudi Arabia are turning into an economic partnership. The Minister emphasised that closer cooperation will help bring stability and development to the region. He also pointed out that there are great opportunities for digital investment and technical collaboration between the two countries.
The Saudi minister reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan in all sectors, including media. It was also announced that the next meeting of the Saudi-Pakistan Supreme Coordination Council would be held in Pakistan.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Peshawar on February 28 (Friday) to see the Ramadan moon. If the moon is sighted, the holy month of fasting will begin on March 1 (Saturday). Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, the committee’s chairman, will preside over the meeting after the Asr prayer.
Zonal committee meetings will also take place to receive moon sighting reports, according to a notification from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Clerics from different schools of thought will attend the central meeting.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) earlier reported that the first day of fasting in Pakistan is expected on March 2. The PMD predicted the new moon will likely be born on February 28 at 5:45 pm, increasing the chances of the crescent sighting on March 1.
An astronomy centre in Abu Dhabi also said that Ramadan is expected to begin on March 1, The National reported. The International Astronomical Centre (IAC) announced that most Muslim countries will try to observe the new crescent moon on February 28, and some Arab countries could see it on the same day.

Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan’s opening batter, is likely to miss the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after the star batter suffered an injury during the tournament’s opening match against New Zealand on Wednesday. The injury occurred while Zaman was fielding in the first over of New Zealand’s innings. He fell awkwardly and was immediately taken off the field for a medical assessment. Although he briefly returned to play, Zaman was forced to leave the field again, raising concerns over his condition.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that Zaman will not travel with the team to Dubai for their upcoming match against India on February 23. “Fakhar Zaman is not travelling with the side to Dubai. The ICC will make further announcement in due course,”PCB said in a statement.
Sources said that Imam-ul-Haq is likely to replace Zaman for the remainder of the tournament. Imam, who was part of the Pakistan Shaheens squad for the Champions Trophy warm-up match against South Africa, scored 98 runs in that game, demonstrating his strong form.
New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 60 runs in the Champions Trophy opener at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, showcasing strong batting and strategic bowling. The defending champions were outdone in all departments in front of a capacity crowd that also had President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari in attendance. They were bowled out for 260 in 47.2 overs. Chasing a 321-run target, Pakistan had a wrong-footed start when they were forced to send Saud Shakeel to open the innings with Babar Azam since Fakhar Zaman was delayed by 20 minutes due to his absence off the field due to a spasm while fielding.

Music has a way of sticking with us, doesn’t it? Usually, songs come and go, but then some feel at home, no matter how much time passes. Pakistani music has given us some absolute gems over the decades. These classics continue to hold a special place in our hearts. Whether it’s nostalgia, melodies that hit just right, or lyrics that refuse to fade, these songs are pure magic.
So, here’s our pick of the top 10 such Pakistani songs that are timeless, the ones that can never lose their charm and still make us hit replay each time. Let’s dive in!
Afreen Afreen – Rahat Fateh Ali Khan
Let’s be real: Afreen Afreen is not just a song—it’s a feeling. Originally composed by the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s rendition of it on Coke Studio Season 9 took it to another level, making it a household favourite. The melody is soulful, the lyrics poetic and the song? Simply enchanting. Moreover, Momina Mutehsan’s sweet vocals blend so beautifully with Rahat’s. It’s one of those tracks that instantly elevates any playlist.
Sajni– Strings
If you grew up in the 2000s, there’s no way you don’t remember Sajni. The guitar riffs, plus the melancholic yet soothing vocals of Bilal Maqsood and Faisal Kapadia, make Sajni an anthem of longing and heartbreak. Strings gave us so many hits, but Sajni was and is the one that truly stands the test of time and will get us all up and going. Sajni Main Tere Gun Gawan Tu Hai Meri Thandi Chawaan~
Ko Ko Korina – Ahmed Rushdi (Armaan, 1966)
Before there was pop, there was Ko Ko Korina. The OG rock-and-roll number is considered the first pop song of Pakistan and of all of South Asia! This song from the movie Armaan became a cultural phenomenon in Pakistani cinema, with many remakes of it still to this day. Ahmed Rushdi’s lively vocals and andYouTubecatchy tune made it a track that even new generations can’t resist humming along to any time of the day.
Dosti Aisa Naata – Afshaa Ahmad
Friendship anthems don’t get better than this. Dosti Aisa Naata is one of those songs that instantly bring a smile to your face. A song to sing when your friend is angry, the one to sing to win over your siblings and simply the one to hum along to whenever you hear it playing. The lyrics beautifully capture the essence of companionship and the unbreakable bond of friends who stick together through thick and thin.
No one made pop music like Nazia Hassan, and Aap Jaisa Koi is proof. This track, which became a massive hit in the ’80s, still feels fresh decades later. There have been numerous remakes of the song, and we have lost count, with the latest one released in 2022. The OG funky beats and Nazia’s smooth vocals make it impossible not to tap your feet to it and dance. Truly legendary!
Mahia – Annie Khalid
Mahia was way ahead of its time, and no doubt it attracted the popularity it did. Annie Khalid was the queen of soft pop in the 2000s, and 14 years ago, Mahia was her crown jewel. The song was everywhere, blasting from car speakers, played at every school function, and even made its way to international audiences. It’s a song that instantly transports you back to simpler, fun times.
Mera Bichara Yaar – Strings
Another Strings classic, Mera Bichara Yaar, is an emotional rollercoaster. It’s a song about loss, nostalgia and cherishing the bonds we form in life. The simplicity of the lyrics, combined with the heartfelt delivery, makes this song unforgettable. You can still put it on during a drive, and the feel would be just the same.
Aadat – Atif Aslam
You don’t talk about timeless Pakistani songs and do not mention Aadat. Atif Aslam’s breakthrough song became an anthem for every emo teenager back in the day (and let’s be honest, we still vibe to it). That signature raspy voice, the haunting tune—Aadat was and still is an unmatched classic.
Par Chana De – Noori
Noori gave us some of the best alt-rock anthems, and Par Chana De is one of their finest. The song fuses folk with rock, creating a sound that’s both raw and deeply soulful. And as beautiful as the song sounds, its story is just as tragic. Par Chanaa De is based on a famous folk tale from the Punjab region about Sohni and Mahiwal. It’s one of those tracks that you can listen to on a road trip, late at night, or just when you need to get lost in the music.
Chan Kithan – Ali Sethi
Ali Sethi is a master of reinventing classics, and Chan Kithan is a prime example of his brilliance. The song, originally a Punjabi folk piece, was given a fresh, modern touch while keeping its soul intact. It is dreamy, peaceful, melancholic and just one of those songs that linger in your mind long after you’ve listened to it.
Pakistani music has a rich history, and these songs prove that great music never fades. Whether you grew up listening to these tracks or you’ve just discovered them, they easily settle themselves in the hearts of all and continue to hold their magic over every generation.

Massive Crowd Turnout Marks Opener of ICC Champions Trophy
Despite the Pakistan cricket team losing with a 60-run defeat to New Zealand in the opening match on Wednesday, The ICC Champions Trophy brought a charged atmosphere to Karachi since it marked a return to Pakistan after nearly 30 years.
A crowd of 29,300 filled the stadium, just short of its total 34,000 capacity, showing their enthusiasm for international cricket’s comeback. President Asif Ali Zardari attended the match, while a fly-past by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) added to the occasion.
New Zealand put on a dominant performance, with Tom Latham scoring an unbeaten 118 and Will Young making 102, helping their team score 320/5 in 50 overs. Pakistan, in response, faltered despite Babar Azam’s steady 64 off 90 balls and a late 69-run effort from Khushdil Shah. The entire team was bowled out for 260 in 47.2 overs.
With this defeat, Pakistan now looks ahead to a must-win match against India on Sunday in Dubai. India will play their first game against Bangladesh on Thursday, choosing to stay away from Pakistan due to security concerns.
This marks Pakistan’s first time hosting an ICC event since the 1996 World Cup. The tournament is spread across three cities. The top two teams from each group, A and B, will advance to the semi-finals.
Though Pakistan lost, the passionate crowd and the grand occasion signalled a major moment for cricket’s return to the country.

Pakistan’s ICC Champions Trophy campaign didn’t get off to the best start, as they fell short by 60 runs against New Zealand in the opening match. While the defeat stung, one player who showed resilience was Khushdil Shah.
The left-hander played a fighting knock of 69 off 49 balls, trying to keep Pakistan in the chase. But instead of appreciation, he once again found himself at the receiving end of “parchi parchi” chants from a section of the crowd—a term used to accuse players of favoritism in selection.
This isn’t new for him. Criticism has followed him throughout his career. But this time, he decided to respond.
“If I Played for Myself, You Wouldn’t Be Chanting ‘Parchi'”
Speaking to journalists after the match, Khushdil didn’t shy away from addressing the negativity.
“If I were playing for my personal score, the chants of ‘parchi parchi’ wouldn’t have been heard today,” he said calmly. “I have never played cricket for myself. My focus has always been on contributing to the team’s success. I try to score without caring about my wicket.”
His words carried weight. He wasn’t playing for milestones—he was playing for Pakistan.
The Fightback with Naseem Shah
Chasing 321, Pakistan found themselves in deep trouble. But Khushdil and Naseem Shah tried to stage a comeback.
“Naseem and I were discussing that if we could take the game to the last over, we could win it,” he revealed.
They gave it their best shot, but with no wickets left in the bank, the chase fell apart.
Despite the loss, Khushdil’s effort stood out. He played positively, took on the bowlers, and tried to shift the momentum. But for some fans, his performance wasn’t enough to silence the critics.
“People Have Been Chanting at Me for Two Years Now”
This isn’t the first time Khushdil has faced taunts from fans. He has been dealing with it for years.
“People have been chanting slogans at me for two years now. It has become a habit for me. I even tell them, ‘Go on, chant some more,’” he said with a smirk.
It’s a tough reality for players who don’t have a “fan-favorite” status. One bad match, and they’re targeted. But Khushdil has learned to take it in stride.
He also had a message for the fans:
“Our country is hosting the Champions Trophy, and it’s important for people to back the team and players,” he urged. “It’s disappointing when players are subjected to negative chants at their home ground. It shouldn’t happen, but I’ve learned to handle it and continue enjoying my game.”

The Champions Trophy is back after eight long years, and so is an ICC event in Pakistan after nearly three decades. Expectations are high for the home team, especially since they are the defending champions. But Pakistan’s campaign has already hit a bump with the injury of Fakhar Zaman.
Fakhar, one of their most explosive batters, suffered an injury in the very first over of the tournament while trying to stop the ball. Though he returned to the field, he was visibly struggling. His movement was restricted, and his innings never really took off. Eventually, he was dismissed for 24 off 41 balls.
Now, the big question is—what if Fakhar Zaman gets ruled out of the tournament? Who steps in? Let’s take a look at three possible replacements who could bolster Pakistan’s Champions Trophy squad.
At just 21, Haseebullah Khan has been making waves in domestic cricket. He’s consistent, technically sound, and has already made his international debut in both ODIs and T20Is. Plus, he brings added value as a backup wicketkeeper, just in case something happens to Mohammad Rizwan.
His List A numbers are impressive:
📊 List A Career Stats
Innings: 50
Runs: 2,301
Average: 51.13
100s/50s: 9/10
A List A average above 50 speaks volumes about his ability to convert starts into big scores. He’s also in red-hot form, having hit two fifties in his last two first-class matches, along with a fifty and a century in his last three List A games.
If Pakistan wants fresh energy and a fearless young batter at the top, Haseebullah is a strong option.
Abdullah Shafique
Not too long ago, Abdullah Shafique was part of Pakistan’s ODI plans. However, a disastrous tour of South Africa, where he registered three consecutive ducks, saw him drop out of the Champions Trophy squad.
But before that, he showed promise in Zimbabwe and Australia, scoring two half-centuries. His overall ODI record isn’t bad either:
📊 ODI Career Stats
Innings: 21
Runs: 612
Average: 32.21
100s/50s: 1/6
While his ODI numbers are still a work in progress, his Test credentials are rock solid. He has already hit five centuries in red-ball cricket, proving that he has the temperament for big games.
Also, familiarity with the current team management could work in his favor. If the selectors decide to go for someone they’ve already invested in, Abdullah might get a recall.
If Pakistan wants experience and stability at the top, there’s no better option than Imam-ul-Haq. He hasn’t played an ODI since the 2023 World Cup, but his numbers speak for themselves.
📊 ODI Career Stats
Innings: 71
Runs: 3,138
Average: 48.27
100s/50s: 9/20
And when it comes to home conditions, Imam’s record is even better:
📊 ODIs in Pakistan
Innings: 17
Runs: 913
Average: 57.06
100s/50s: 2/8
He also recently reminded everyone of his class with a 98-run knock against South Africa while playing for Pakistan Shaheens. Given his past performances and his experience in crunch situations, Imam is the most reliable choice if Fakhar is ruled out.
With the Champions Trophy being a short tournament, Pakistan cannot afford slow starts or experimentation that doesn’t pay off. If Fakhar Zaman is ruled out, Imam-ul-Haq looks like the safest and most logical choice. However, if the selectors want to inject some fresh energy, Haseebullah Khan might be an exciting wildcard pick.

After nearly three decades, Pakistan finally got to host a global cricket tournament, the National Bank Stadium was buzzing, fans were ready for a winning start, but New Zealand had other plans.
In the opening match of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, the Kiwis spoiled the party, handing Pakistan a 60-run defeat. Centuries from Will Young and Tom Latham set the stage, while a disciplined bowling effort ensured New Zealand walked away with a convincing win.
A Tough Chase from the Start
Chasing 321 was always going to be a challenge. But Pakistan’s hopes took a hit before their innings even started.
Two balls into the match, Fakhar Zaman injured himself while chasing a cover drive and had to leave the field. That meant he couldn’t open the batting, a major blow considering his aggressive style. By the time he walked in at No. 4, Pakistan were already struggling at 22 for 2 in ten overs. And to make matters worse, he wasn’t at his best—running between the wickets looked painful, and the New Zealand spinners made life miserable for him.
Michael Bracewell and Glenn Phillips kept the ball away from his hitting arc, and eventually, Fakhar’s scratchy innings ended on 24 off 41 balls.
Unfortunately for Pakistan, it wasn’t just Fakhar who found it tough.
Babar Azam, the anchor of the batting lineup, took 81 balls for his fifty. The sluggish start meant the asking rate kept climbing. Even with New Zealand missing key pacers Lockie Ferguson and Ben Sears, their spinners did enough damage to keep Pakistan on the back foot.
By the time Pakistan needed nearly ten runs per over, the pressure was too much. Despite a fighting knock from Khushdil Shah (69 off 49 balls), Pakistan could only manage 260 before getting bowled out in the 48th over.
Young & Latham’s Masterclass
The match didn’t always look like it would end this way. At one point, New Zealand were struggling at 40 for 2 in the ninth over and later 73 for 3 in the 17th. Pakistan had an opening.
But then, Young and Latham took control.
Young, often in and out of the team, once again proved his worth. He had impressed during New Zealand’s historic 3-0 sweep of India but was left out when Kane Williamson returned. Given another chance, he made it count, scoring a brilliant 107 off 107 balls.
Latham, on the other hand, looked unstoppable. Coming off a rough patch with three ducks earlier this year, he found his rhythm at the perfect time. His unbeaten 118 off 104 balls included a range of sweeps that made Pakistan’s spinners ineffective.
Once Young departed, Latham and Phillips put on a quick-fire 125-run partnership off just 74 balls. Phillips, after a slow start, exploded, reaching his fifty in just 34 balls. His 61 off 39 helped New Zealand post a daunting 320.
Fielding Brilliance & Early Wickets Seal It
New Zealand were just as sharp in the field as they were with the bat.
Phillips pulled off the moment of the match, taking a spectacular one-handed catch at point to dismiss Mohammad Rizwan for just 3. It was a stunner—one that perfectly summed up New Zealand’s intensity.
Pakistan’s start with the bat was disastrous. Makeshift opener Saud Shakeel fell for 6, and Rizwan followed soon after. At the ten-over mark, Pakistan had crawled to 22 for 2—their lowest powerplay score in a Champions Trophy match since 2019.
There was no coming back from there. For the third time in two weeks, New Zealand comfortably defeated Pakistan. This wasn’t just a loss—it was a wake-up call.

We’re a nation that grew up with two things: Biryani and Cricket- things we carry with us in our hearts and that remind us of home no matter where we are. Now imagine biryani being taken away from you for decades, and you only get to enjoy it from afar. Will that break your heart or crush your soul? Pakistani cricket fans have been facing similar turmoil for the past 28 years. Despite Pakistan hosting the 1987 and 1996 World Cup, international cricket seemed to have vanished from the country, especially after the attack on the Sri Lankan team.
But the days of sorrow are over, for cricket fans are all set to rejoice in the thrill of the sport in their own country. The adrenaline rush, the roar of the sixes and the agony of a defeat will now be felt too close to home. What more can a cricket fan ask for?
In Pakistan, cricket isn’t just a sport; it’s an emotion, perhaps even a religion for many. People don’t just watch cricket; they dwell in it. It’s one of the very few things that brings the nation together, be it in a win or a loss, for we wave the flags and break the TVs together. But for generations, the Pakistani cricket fans have felt a tinge of sorrow- something grave has been missing. Watching cricket on television isn’t just the same as watching it in person. The wins feel incomplete, and the losses, perhaps not too personal. However, with Pakistan hosting the ICC Champion’s Trophy 2025, things are about to change.
Sherdil squadron aerobatic display at ICC 2025
An entire generation of fans who grew up watching cricket on TV will now witness it in person. They’ve heard stories of Imran Khan’s legendary six in Perth, Shoaib Akhtar taking down Sachin Tendulkar in the 1999 Asian Test Championship, or Wasim Akram emerging as one of the finest leaders in Pakistani cricket history, but this time, they get to witness it all.
Mera Piya Ghar Aya
The return of cricket is like welcoming back the love of your life who has been living abroad for so long- your eyes can’t wait to see them again. Siri, play the song Mera Piya Ghar Aya, for Mera Piya is actually home. 28 years of wait feels worthwhile, doesn’t it?
With the ICC Champion’s Trophy 2025 coming to Pakistan this year, it wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that FANS ARE GOING CRAZY!! Once again, the country, especially the cities hosting matches, is buzzing with electric energy. The pride, the sensation and the enthusiasm are witnessed in every person, whether they’re a cricket fan or not. It seems like the ICC Champion’s Trophy was all we needed to come together.
Cricket Returns Home
After winning the league in 2017, fans knew that Pakistan would be hosting the cup in the coming year. However, with international leagues, uncertainty always looms because of Pakistan’s unfortunate past with both politics and cricket. But just as they say, all good things come in due time; so did cricket. As the ICC Champion’s Trophy came near, fans across the country couldn’t help but celebrate the long over-due joy.
A Euphoric Feeling
Stadiums are packed- tickets sold sooner than one could imagine. However, the excitement isn’t just limited to the pitch; you can witness the same out on the streets, at homes and even at workplaces, where colleagues can’t stop themselves from being distracted during the Pakistan-New Zeeland match. It’s a different joy, one that doesn’t come near any other.
The era of empty, haunting stadiums is gone, and we’re all here for it. As a Pakistani, an avid cricket watcher and most importantly, someone who loves seeing their country flourish, I am elated. In fact, everything has suddenly turned into background music, be it long traffic jams or India refusing to come to Pakistan, because for now, I’m just rooting for the Green Squad and also Pakistan.
Zindabad.

In the first ODI without a single ball of pace, the United States (USA) broke India’s 40-year-old record for the lowest successfully defended total in a full men’s 50-over match as they beat Oman by 57 runs on Tuesday.
The USA posted a paltry total of 122 in Al Amerat but bowled out the hosts for 65 in a match dominated by spin. The previous record was India’s 125 against Pakistan in 1985, when they won by 38 runs in Sharjah. It was the first ODI in 4,671 completed matches without a single delivery from a pace bowler.
The 19 wickets that fell to spin matched the ODI record set in a 2011 match between Bangladesh and Pakistan. The other wicket was a run out. United States left-arm spinner Nosthush Kenjige led the bowling with 5-11 from 7.3 overs.

Maryam Nawaz said that 27 electric buses would begin operations in Lahore from Tuesday, while 500 more buses.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has inaugurated the province’s first electric bus project, describing it as a major step towards a modern and eco-friendly transport system. She said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had always prioritised development.“ This is Punjab on the path of innovation,” she remarked, adding that the dream of a green and clean province was now becoming a reality.
The newly launched electric bus service in Lahore will have a starting fare of Rs20, with the maximum fare set at Rs35. The government has also announced free travel for students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Maryam Nawaz said that 27 electric buses would begin operations in Lahore from Tuesday, while 500 more buses were expected to arrive in Punjab by August. She further revealed that the provincial government was manufacturing electric buses in Faisalabad and had also invited Chinese companies to invest in the sector.
The chief minister stated that the initiative was aimed at reducing pollution and providing affordable public transport, adding that the fare structure in Punjab was lower compared to other provinces. “All buses are equipped with free Wi-Fi, mobile charging facilities and CCTV cameras to enhance security, particularly for women,” she noted.
Argentine President Javier Milei is in the middle of a financial and political storm after a cryptocurrency he named in a social media update collapsed soon after its release. The digital currency, $Libra, experienced a meteoric rise before crashing in value, resulting in huge losses for investors. Now, fraud and political abuse allegations are piling up, with a federal judge to decide if Milei will be held accountable.
Source: WSJ
The Social Media Post hat Created Havoc
On Friday, Milei tweeted about $Libra on X, featuring a link to a website where the cryptocurrency was being sold. Though his support wasn’t direct, many took it as an indicator of trust. In hours, $Libra’s price went through the roof, propelled by speculation and investor excitement. Just as suddenly, the coin plunged, wiping out millions of dollars in market value and leaving investors stunned.
Critics say the scenario is in typical “rug pull” form—a scam whereby investors are lured to invest in a new cryptocurrency, only for its issuers or initial users to dump it after making a profit. Milei has, however, denied any involvement in any wrongdoing, claiming he simply posted information and had nothing to do with the development of the project.
Political Fallout and Legal Scrutiny
Facing backlash, Milei deleted his post just hours later, claiming he had initially been unaware of the full details behind $Libra. However, his explanation has done little to satisfy opposition politicians, some of whom are now threatening impeachment proceedings. While an actual impeachment trial remains unlikely, the controversy threatens to derail Milei’s aggressive reform agenda.
The Argentine Office of Anti-Corruption has opened an investigation, and a federal judge will determine whether to pursue fraud charges against the president. Should the case go forward, it could become a watershed moment in the presidency of Milei, challenging both his integrity and his political viability.

A Case of Market Risk or Political Irresponsibility?
Milei has compared the losses incurred by investors to gambling, contending that the participants were aware of the risks. “If you play Russian roulette and you get the bullet, that’s on you,” he said defiantly in a TV interview.
While some libertarians praise his personal responsibility stance, others regard it as irresponsible, particularly from an incumbent head of state. Whether this crisis passes or grows into a full-scale scandal will depend on the actions of the next move by the legal system—and how much trust the Argentine public still has in their president.

Pakistani star Hajra Yamin recently expressed her anger at the financial imbalance in the entertainment sector. Drama Channels Make Millions, But Actors Get Nothing
The royalties debate is increasingly taking centre stage. Most of the actors insist that they ought to be awarded a portion of the digital dollars since their on-screen performances make a show the most popular. A lack of a formal payment system has ignited discussions concerning instituting just compensation policies in the industry.
Blockbuster serials such as Ishq Murshid on Hum TV and Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum on ARY Digital have enthralled viewers across the globe. These serials earn a lot of money from online watching and advertisements. Actors, however, are not included in the profit equation.
Will the Industry Address this Issue?
As more and more artists voice their concerns, pressure is building on drama channels to review their revenue models. While the producers and the networks reap their share of the profit, the actors are left to fight for fiscal recognition. The industry needs to take measures so that performers can get their fair share of returns from digital media.

India’s media landscape has been shaken to its core with the amalgamation of Star India and Reliance Jio, forming a titan that will reshape entertainment. Priced at $8.5 billion, the deal heralds the start of a complicated but revolutionary period, bringing TV, sports and streaming under one roof.
A New TV and Sports Powerhouse
Perhaps the biggest transformation under JioStar is the remaking of sports broadcasting. The 24-channel portfolio of Star Sports now incorporates Viacom18’s Sports18 channels, providing complete regional language coverage. This unification simplifies sports broadcasting, allowing audiences to track their preferred leagues without platform-hopping. The restructuring does come at the cost of some popular channels, though, with VH1, MTV Beats and Comedy Central being among those that will no longer exist as JioStar seeks to remove duplication and minimize costs.
For the viewers who subscribe to television, this shift might introduce modest relief in rates. With less unnecessary channels, cable and DTH companies might provide cheaper packages, a step that is in line with Jio’s approach of affordability and mass reach.
Streaming Gets a Jolt
The consolidation of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar into JioHotstar is another game changer. With more than 300,000 hours of content and exclusive streaming rights for IPL, Premier League, ICC events and major Hollywood studios such as Warner Bros. and NBCUniversal, JioHotstar is now on par with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Nevertheless, the greatest change is the removal of a free option, compelling millions of users to pay for premium content.
This move puts pressure on competitors, especially Netflix, which is likely to ramp up regional content production. Amazon Prime Video, already experimenting with content rentals, may need to rethink its pricing strategy to stay relevant.
Tech-Driven Future
JioStar isn’t merely content—it’s transforming the way we watch media. The firm is heavily investing in AI-driven insights, live sports analytics in real time, multi-angle viewing and ultra-HD 4K streaming. With improvements in streaming technology, such as live sports with greater frame rates, the experience of watching will be more immersive.

What Lies Ahead?
As JioStar consolidates its grip, watch for fierce bids on future digital sports rights, continued penetration into regional languages and even a return of IPTV. With a leadership team that is a powerhouse in charge, India’s entertainment scene is ready to usher in a new era of bravery— one where television and streaming coexist in never-before-seen harmonies.
