Teacher Arrested for Sexually Abusing and Filming Male Students
In Nawan Kot, Punjab, police arrested a private school teacher, Zeeshan, after he was accused of sexually abusing male students and filming the abuse. The police registered a rape case against him and his accomplices. The case surfaced when a student informed his family about the abuse.
Authorities then arrested Zeeshan, who admitted to filming the crimes. Police also recovered multiple explicit videos from his mobile phone. According to law enforcement, investigations are still underway, and raids are ongoing to catch others involved in the case.
In another disturbing incident, a school principal was arrested in Sheikhupura for allegedly abusing both teachers and students. Sources reported that the case emerged after videos of the victims went viral on WhatsApp and social media. Based on complaints from students, police from the B-Division station raided Noor-ul-Huda School and arrested the principal, identified as Arsalan.
During the raid, police recovered around 150 obscene videos. The accused confessed to the assaults during questioning. He also admitted to filming the abuse using CCTV and hidden cameras placed inside the school. According to police, Arsalan used the videos to blackmail his victims and threatened to make them viral. He also admitted to selling the videos to foreign buyers online.
After the incident came to light, the Chief Education Officer sealed the school while police launched a deeper investigation. The FIR was filed against the accused, and authorities are examining how the school management failed to act earlier. Police are also trying to determine how many more students or staff may have been affected.
Both cases have sparked outrage among parents and citizens, who are calling for strict punishment and better monitoring in private schools to prevent such incidents from happening again.

Port Sudan Hit by Fires After Explosions and Drone Strikes
In Port Sudan, a series of explosions led to a fire reported on Monday, calling into question an assessment that the city was currently safe due to the escalating fighting between Sudan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Sources say RSF drone strikes caused the explosions, hitting several targets, including a fuel depot and a military base near the international airport. The RSF has not claimed responsibility.
It is important to note that Port Sudan, typically a key port on the Red Sea for goods leaving Sudan, has also served as a safe haven for thousands who fled violence in the country. However, the explosions of today will place innocents in much greater danger and have damaged infrastructure that may impede an already precarious humanitarian corridor for the millions of people who need humanitarian assistance in Sudan.
Both the United Nations and regional countries condemned the RSF drone strikes and called on both sides to comply with international humanitarian law and to stay out of or avoid civilian areas wherever possible.
The civil war began in April 2023, when the army started fighting the RSF. Reports confirm that the conflict has displaced 12 million people so far.
Credible observers have accused both sides of blocking humanitarian aid and attacking civilians. New accounts of this violence keep surfacing from inside the country.
With the conflict still developing, international agencies are increasing their humanitarian and diplomatic pressure while humanitarian aid becomes more essential. As developments unfold, there should be additional news to report in the next several days.

India Begins Dam Flushing in IIOJK, Violating Indus Waters Treaty
India has taken a clear step against the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) of 1960 by starting work to increase reservoir capacity at two hydroelectric dams in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). According to three sources who spoke to Reuters, this step involves a “reservoir flushing” operation to clear out sediment. This flushing began on May 1 and continued for three days. India’s biggest hydropower company, NHPC Ltd, along with local authorities, carried out the process.
Sources said this operation might not immediately cut off water to Pakistan, but it could impact it in the future, especially if more dams do the same. India took this step without informing Pakistan, which violates the treaty that bars such activities. This is the first flushing at the Salal and Baglihar projects since their construction in 1987 and 2008–09, respectively.
The process first releases sediment-filled water downstream, potentially flooding areas, and then lowers the water flow while the reservoirs refill. Locals near the Chenab River confirmed the release of water during the flushing from May 1 to May 3.
One source said, “We were also asked to open the adjustable gates for cleaning, which we did from May 1.”The source also stated, “This is the first time such an exercise has taken place and will help in more efficient power generation and prevent damage to turbines.”
Two sources noted that power from the 690-MW Salal project was below potential because Pakistan blocked flushing. Silt also reduced the output at the 900-MW Baglihar project. One source added, “Flushing is not a common thing because it leads to a lot of water wastage.”
India suspended the IWT after blaming Pakistan—without proof—for an attack that killed 26 people in Pahalgam. Pakistan denied involvement and warned, “Any attempt to stop or divert the flow of water belonging to Pakistan will be considered as an act of war.”
Under the treaty, India can only build run-of-river projects, not storage dams. A former Indian official, Kushvinder Vohra, said, “We can now pursue our projects at free will.”

Netflix has finally dropped the full trailer for Squid Game Season 3, giving fans a peek into the final part of the global hit series. Released on May 5, the trailer sets up intense new games, emotional moments and big confrontations ahead of the June premiere.
The trailer starts with players wheeling a black coffin into the dormitory. Inside lies Seong Gi-hun, who suddenly wakes up. He’s handcuffed and confused, clearly signalling his major role in the next phase of the deadly competition.
One of the new games is introduced through a giant gumball machine filled with red and blue balls. Players turn a dial to draw a colour. The focus then shifts to Geum-ja and her son Yong-sik, who sadly draw different colours. This puts them on opposite teams and hints at the emotional strain to come.
Next, the teaser shows players receiving boxes with a line of symbols — circle, triangle, and square. These might serve as hints for the upcoming challenge.
The trailer also highlights masked VIPs sitting at a banquet table. In another scene, Guard 11 quietly moves through air vents, suggesting secret missions or escape attempts. Meanwhile, Detective Hwang Jun-ho appears again, this time holding a gun. His return points to a possible long-awaited clash with the mysterious Front Man.
At the end of the trailer, Player 222 cries as the sound of a baby crying plays in the background. This powerful moment leaves viewers questioning what heartbreak and twists lie ahead.
Squid Game Season 3 will release on Netflix on June 27, 2025.

Tensions Rise as India Blocks
Water from Chenab River Dam
Strains between India and Pakistan have dramatically mounted after India made a recent decision to drastically limit the flow of water from the Chenab River into Pakistan. This move, following India’s unilateral termination of the long-time Indus Waters Treaty, has raised grave doubts about the possibilities of water scarcity in Pakistan. The decrease stems from India using its reservoirs, particularly those linked to the Pakal Dul, Baglihar, and Salal hydroelectric projects.
Impact on Pakistan
The impact has been instantaneous and drastic. Accounts from the Marala headworks in Pakistan indicate a dramatic drop in water levels, with flows reducing from an estimated 35,000 cusecs to just 3,100 cusecs. Pakistani authorities have strongly objected, alleging India is siphoning off Pakistan’s rightful water quota to feed its dams. This, they argue, amounts to a grave violation of the Indus Waters Treaty. The most prominent concern is the danger of historic shortages to agriculture since large areas of land rely on the waters of the Chenab for irrigation.
Tensions Rise as India Blocks Water from Chenab River Dam
Dread of Flooding and Diplomatic Consequences
In addition to the direct agricultural effect, there are concerns that an abrupt opening of the stored water by India would unleash flood-like situations along the downstream, risking Pakistani settlements. Indian officials have said to be informing that activities such as de-silting and filling up are currently in progress at the Baglihar dam, with such activity to follow on other schemes. This heightened scenario underlines the delicate character of local water-sharing arrangements and demonstrates how access to water can soon become an instant flashpoint, especially against the backdrop of underlying geopolitical tensions.

Ozempic is a popular medication used by many individuals for type 2 diabetes management. It also helps in losing weight. Now physicians are learning it may do even more. Recent research indicates Ozempic may be used to treat a severe liver condition. This condition is MASH. MASH is an acronym for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis. It’s a serious form of fatty liver disease. A large study, known as the ESSENCE trial, has provided the welcome news. The findings were published in a leading medical journal. This research implies Ozempic (its medical name is semaglutide) can battle MASH. It may prevent damage to the liver. It may even heal the liver! This is a major breakthrough for those who are suffering from the condition.
What the Study Found: Real Improvements
The ESSENCE trial was a large international study that involved over 800 participants from 37 countries, which enhances the reliability of the results. The research focused on the effects of weekly injections of Ozempic on patients with MASH (metabolic-associated fatty liver disease). The outcomes were very promising. Nearly two out of three participants (62.9%) who received Ozempic experienced a reduction in liver inflammation, and their liver scarring or fibrosis remained stable. In contrast, only about one in three participants (34.3%) in the placebo group, which received a dummy injection, showed similar improvement.
The research also examined liver scarring. Scarring is a major issue in MASH. It can cause very severe liver damage, such as cirrhosis. Ozempic benefited here as well. Roughly 37 out of 100 individuals (36.8%) on Ozempic had reduced liver scarring. In the placebo group, no more than 22 out of 100 (22.4%) experienced this change. Not just diabetes patients but many individuals taking Ozempic lost weight as well. Their liver enzyme levels, which are indicators of the liver’s health, also improved. This indicates Ozempic has the ability to improve the body’s metabolic rate in general.
MASH: An Emerging Concern and the Cry for Assistance
MASH is an emerging, but silent, health problem worldwide. It is also associated with obesity and type 2 diabetes. More and more individuals are developing this condition. MASH occurs when an excessive amount of fat accumulates in the liver. The fat makes the liver swell and become damaged. Over time, this causes severe scarring. If left untreated, MASH can cause the liver to fail. It can also result in liver cancer. Patients may then require a liver transplant. Currently, there are few effective treatments for MASH. That’s why the news regarding Ozempic is so significant for doctors and patients.
What Happens Next?
The findings from the ESSENCE trial are thrilling. But it is also good to know about side effects. Some individuals taking Ozempic in the trial had stomach issues like nausea and diarrhea. These are typical side effects of Ozempic. Physicians now observe the study patients for an extended period. They will observe them for as long as five years. This will inform them about the long-term value and safety of Ozempic for liver disease.
If government health organisations approve Ozempic as a treatment for MASH, this will be a major departure. It may provide a new, powerful method to cure this challenging liver issue. Ozempic appears to assist the liver itself. It also assists with the general body issues that can result in MASH. The medical community is optimistic. Numerous people await further news. Ozempic may soon be an important instrument to treat millions of individuals suffering from a serious liver condition.

Besides Karachi, nearby districts—Jamshoro, Tharparkar, Badin, Thatta, and Sujawal—may also get light rain or isolated dust-thunderstorms today. These conditions will be brief and limited to small areas.
At the same time, medical experts warn about a rise in kidney infections in Karachi due to heat and dehydration. Hospitals are treating more patients with common symptoms. These include lower back pain on both sides, painful urination, reduced urine output, blood or pus in the urine, and fever. These are clear signs of kidney infections.
Doctors are urging people to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight, and remain indoors unless necessary.

Zhao’s road to the world championship was nothing short of unorthodox, which makes the accomplishment all the more remarkable. As a qualifier in the tournament, he fought through a gruelling set of encounters, not only demonstrating his outstanding ability but also staggering mental strength. This win is especially notable as it represents a remarkable comeback for Zhao, who had otherwise experienced a difficult time in his career. This includes a 20-month suspension from the professional tour in 2023 as part of a wider match-fixing investigation.
It is important to remember that Zhao was sanctioned for being an accomplice to the actions of another player and for placing bets on matches, but not for having arranged any of his own matches. The fact that he could succeed in the face of this adversity and reach the pinnacle of the sport is testament to his commitment and perseverance.
A Stunning Performance
Throughout the championship, Zhao’s displays were marked by stunning shots, ice-cool composure under intense pressure, and a get-in-your-face style of play that has earned comparisons to snooker icons such as Jimmy White. Amongst the highlights of his run was a majestic 17-7 semi-final triumph over his childhood idol and mentor, Ronnie O’Sullivan, a victory many watchers believed marked the passing of the guard. Even his last opponent, the experienced Mark Williams, was lavish in his praise, dubbing Zhao “a new superstar of the game” and admitting the raw brilliance of his play.

Impact and Legacy
The value of Zhao Xintong’s triumph goes far beyond the £500,000 prize fund and the highly sought-after silver trophy. He is the first Asian player to be named World Snooker Champion, a landmark which should further explode the sport’s growth and popularity in China and the continent as a whole. Snooker is already phenomenally popular in China, with millions viewing major tournaments on television. Zhao’s composed table manner combined with his thrill-a-minute style of snooker has already gained him a global following. His victory at the Crucible is a story of determination and redemption, a dream fulfilled that will resonate for years. It finally happened. After years of anticipation and fan petitions, Shah Rukh Khan, aka King Khan, made his Met Gala debut. And it was nothing short of a cultural reset. Keeping in mind this year’s dress code, ‘Tailored For You,’ Shah Rukh Khan’s ensemble by Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee subtly connected the shared histories of black and Indian dandyism—two traditions that reimagined tailoring.
A Look of Understated Power
The King of Bollywood didn’t need gimmicks or theatrics.
Shah Rukh walked the carpet in a pitch-black, floor-length Tasmanian wool coat, buttoned with Japanese horn closures and tailored like it belonged in both a royal court and a contemporary museum. Beneath it, he wore a black crepe de Chine silk shirt, left open at the chest, paired with tailored superfine wool trousers. A pleated satin kamarbandh cinched the waist, adding structure and softness to the tailored layers.
The jewellery was layered across his torso, including a custom stack of talismanic chains anchored by a crystal-studded pendant shaped like the letter ‘K’ and a diamond star brooch at the lapel. Rings adorn his fingers. He carried a Bengal Tiger Head Cane, crafted in 18k gold and embellished with tourmalines. To add more power to the look, the Cane had sapphires, an old mine-cut and brilliant-cut diamonds.
Mukherjee described his vision as a tribute to Khan’s global stature, stating, “Shah Rukh Khan is one of the greatest superstars in the world… Dressed in classic menswear with the maximalist flourish of Sabyasachi, Shah Rukh Khan is a magician, superstar and icon. Period.”
The layered jewellery over the open shirt recalls historic portraits of maharajas draped in pearls and gemstones, using ornament as a statement of status and authority. It whispered, “I don’t need to shout. I’ve been here all along.”
Indian Dandyism: A Quiet Revolution in Fashion
SRK’s look wasn’t just regal—it was rooted in history, specifically, the often-overlooked legacy of Indian dandyism.
The traditional Indian dandies like Nawabs of Awadh, Calcutta’s bhadralok, or Bombay’s colonial-era gentry were all about turning elegance into resistance. Through layering, tailoring, jewellry and carefully curated silhouettes, these men challenged colonial ideas of masculinity and modernity. They were stylish and subversive.
That’s the deeper layer to Shah Rukh’s Met Gala debut. His look wasn’t loud because it didn’t need to be. It echoed centuries of Indian style heritage. A heritage where refinement carried the loudest message.
The internet lit up as soon as SRK stepped onto the blue carpet. Many fans praised the look as “understated majesty,” appreciating the subtle nods to Indian heritage and the restraint shown in an event known for its extravagance. One fan tweeted, “Only Shah Rukh Khan can make a black coat feel like a crown.”
Not everyone was enamored. Some critics felt the ensemble was “too safe” for the Met Gala, an event that often celebrates bold and avant-garde fashion.“I expected more drama from the King of Bollywood,”one fashion blogger noted. A few Met Gala watchers even admitted they didn’t recognise him. (Yes, really.) That led to the now-viral clip of an international media personnel asking, “And who are you?” Khan responded gracefully, “I’m Shah Rukh.”Cue the collective gasp from South Asians everywhere.
Because if Shah Rukh Khan walks into a room and you don’t know who he is? Then respectfully speaking that’s a YOU problem!
Fans React: “Understated Majesty” or “Too Safe”?
Bollywood’s Night at the Met
Of course, SRK wasn’t alone. Bollywood came dressed this year. Alongside Khan, several other notable figures made their Met Gala debuts, including Bollywood actress Kiara Advani. Through her outfit, Kiara celebrated her impending motherhood with a stunning gold ensemble designed by Gaurav Gupta. Her gown was titled “Bravehearts” and featured sculpted hearts connected by a chain resembling an umbilical cord. This symbolised the bond between a mother and a child. Advani’s appearance was a powerful statement about femininity and transformation, further enriching the cultural tapestry of the event.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas brought retro glamour in white polka-dot Balmain and a 241-carat emerald pendant, while Nick Jonas leaned into vintage rockstar energy. Manish Malhotra, the man behind countless Bollywood bridal dreams, made his Met Gala debut as a guest and established Indian couture firmly on the map. Moreover, Diljit Dosanjh walked the Met Gala in custom Prabal Gurung. Every detail was steeped in opulence, from a feathered, jewel-studded turban to a layered diamond necklace by Golecha’s Jewels (an homage to Maharaja Bhupinder Singh’s iconic Patiala necklace by Cartier). Instead of a cane, he wielded a lion-headed, jewel-studded kirpan (sword)—a symbol of both regal power and ferocity.
Shah Rukh Khan didn’t need wings, prosthetics, or high-concept fashion art to stand out. He came as he is: iconic. At 59, he showed the younger generation how to dominate a global stage without theatrics. It wasn’t about shocking. It was about staying sovereign.
His Met Gala debut reminded the world of one simple truth: You don’t have to scream when you’re already a legend. And sometimes, the boldest move is simply showing up in your own ski, with your culture, your history and your quiet power stitched into every thread.

PTA Delays Clearance Of Over 10,000 Seized Mobile Phones For Auction
Over 10,000 mobile phones were seized at airports across Pakistan and are still waiting to be auctioned because the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) hasn’t whitelisted them. These devices were confiscated at Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad airports. Since PTA’s Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) hasn’t cleared them, the phones can’t be sold or activated.
The Customs Department sent several letters to the PTA, asking them to start the whitelisting process, but nothing has moved forward. Customs officials worry that ongoing delays are causing high-end phones like iPhones and Samsung Galaxy models to lose market value. They also said the situation is costing the government millions in lost revenue.
Officials from Customs shared that they’ve already submitted multiple lists of the seized phones. They even suggested connecting their system directly with DIRBS to automate the whitelisting. This move could allow immediate clearance of seized phones and prevent future delays.
Despite all this, a PTA official denied receiving any formal request. “We have not received any formal request in this regard,” the official stated.
Customs officials are frustrated. Some insiders are openly angry, saying this entire problem could’ve been avoided if the PTA had responded in time. They believe the delay is not only hurting resale values but also stopping important revenue from reaching the government.
Customs has continued pushing for a tech-based solution that could benefit both sides. They hope the PTA will take system integration seriously to avoid repeating this issue again. Right now, the delay in processing and clearance has made it impossible to move forward with the auction.
No official timeline has been shared yet. Until PTA approves the devices, Customs can’t auction or unblock the phones.

BLACKPINK’s Lisa Receives Backlash Over Controversial Met Gala 2025 Outfit Featuring Rosa Parks Imagery
After her Met Gala 2025 debut on May 5, BLACKPINK’s Lisa faced major backlash. The 28-year-old wore Louis Vuitton sheer tights, a black blazer, and statement underwear. Viewers quickly noticed that the underwear had images of Rosa Parks printed on them, sparking outrage online.
Many felt this was deeply disrespectful, especially given the theme of the night, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which aimed to celebrate Black fashion and history.
One user wrote, “So you get exposed for saying nigga, don’t acknowledge it and then pop up to a black people themed event with rosa parks on your moose knuckle?”(@Ieophobe). Another tweeted, “Rosa Parks finna be trending on here for wrong reason, oh lord…” (@prodby_moonie).
More reactions included:
“Lisa, after wearing them Rosa Parks panties:”(@Donut_Crazs)
“Using Rosa Parks’ image in this way just feels so blatantly disrespectful and insensitive…” (@vnteex)
“I know Lisa does not have Rosa Parks all over her underwear right now. WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA?” (@bhloverrr)
“Does she feel so on top that she can disrespect a whole race not even once and… then put Rosa Parks on her panties tf??” (@tansluvr)
The backlash worsened after old clips resurfaced. They reportedly showed Lisa and other BLACKPINK members using the n-word during pre-debut performances. None of them has spoken about the videos.
Still, some fans praised her look. They called her outfit bold and glamorous and said her makeup and hair were stunning.
So far, neither Lisa nor Louis Vuitton has released a statement about the controversy.

Summer Season Vegetables in Pakistan and How You Can Get the Most Out of Them
Summers in Pakistan are not everyone’s cup of tea. Between the load shedding, the relentless heat and the never-ending complaints about bijli and paani, it can feel like a struggle to get through the day. But amid all the sweat and sighs, summer also brings something genuinely good: a burst of fresh, local vegetables that are made for our climate and our bodies. From the fertile field of Sindh to the lush plains of Punjab, the summer season brings along a diverse range of vegetables. Yes, the vegetables this season don’t get the credit they deserve.
Important Fact: As per the agricultural studies, Pakistan, due to its fertile land, ranks among the top producers of many summer vegetables.
Here are some essential summer vegetables that we Pakistanis need to make use of.
What’s in Season: Summer Season Vegetables in Pakistan
If you’ve ever walked through a sabzi mandi or stopped by a roadside thela in June, you already know the regulars. Here’s a quick reminder:
Tinda (Round Gourd)
Yes, Round Gourd is the vegetable you probably pushed aside as a kid. I used to hate it too, until I had it slow-cooked with fresh garlic, a bit of turmeric, and lots of patience. It turns buttery soft and oozes with flavour. Some people even roast the seeds of the Tinday and enjoy them.
For Planting: The sowing season of round gourd in Pakistan is March–April and June-July.
Round Gourd Benefits: Round Gourd has vitamins and carotene. It can boost the overall immunity of a person. Moreover, it has antioxidant properties that can protect the body. It has less fibrous pulp, which is why it can be easily digested.
Tip: Pair it with chapati and achar; it will become the ultimate desi comfort food.
Tinda (Round Gourd)
Torai (Ridge Gourd)
Let’s be honest, Torai has an image problem. Most people think it’s boring, but it’s actually one of the most refreshing things you can eat in this heat. Plus, it cooks super fast. The vegetable has two variants, one with a ridged surface and the other with a smoother surface.
For Planting: The ideal sowing season for ridge gourd in Pakistan is from early spring to mid-summer, typically between February and July.
Ridge Gourd Benefits: Ridge Gourd is full of dietary fibres, iron, magnesium, vitamins A & C, and Vitamin B6. It has low-calorie content, cholesterol, and unhealthy saturated fats. Moreover, it is packed with alkaloid compounds and antioxidants that can regulate metabolism and also remove toxins from the body.
Pro tip: Sauté it with onions, green chilies and a bit of zeera. Keep it simple. Also, avoid cooking ridge gourd for too long and using too much water to preserve the water-soluble vitamins.
Torai (Ridge Gourd)
Bhindi (Okra)
Crispy, slimy or somewhere in between; bhindi can go a hundred ways. It is devoured the most when it is dry-fried with a bit of salt and coriander powder. The crunchy texture and rich fibre content make it a summer favourite.
For Planting: The optimal sowing season for okra in Pakistan is generally February to March for the spring crop and June to July for the monsoon crop.
Okra Benefits: One of the major benefits of okra is that it promotes digestive health and also boosts immunity. It also adds a delightful crunch to the meal. But the best part is that this tiny-looking vegetable is full of dietary fibre, minerals, and vitamins.
Tip: Cook it on high heat to make it crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Also, don’t overdo the stirring unless you want gooey strings everywhere.
Karela (Bitter Gourd)
Love it or hate it, karela is surprisingly addictive once you get the hang of it. With its sharp taste and jagged skin, bitter gourd is a powerhouse of nutrients. Don’t let its bitterness put you off—it’s packed with health benefits.
For Planting: The best time to sow bitter gourd seeds in Pakistan is during the spring and summer months, typically from February to March and again from June to July.
Bitter Gourd Benefits: Karela is packed with iron, magnesium and Vitamins (B1, B2 and B3). Moreover, it is beneficial for blood sugar regulation, improving skin health, decreasing cholesterol levels, and preventing cancer, etc.
Tip: Let it be bitter. That’s the point.
Karela (Bitter Gourd)
Baingan (Eggplant)
Brinjal, or eggplant, is versatile and full of nutrients. While purple is the most common colour in Pakistan, it grows in many shapes and shades globally. Toss it on the stove flame and season it with mustard oil / green chillies for a killer bharta.
For Planting: The sowing time of Eggplant in Pakistan is February, June and November.
Eggplant Benefits: Eggplant helps in promoting digestion and preventing constipation. Moreover, it has phytonutrients that have anti-cancer properties. Additionally, it is a low-sodium vegetable that is suitable for people with high blood pressure or kidney problems.
Try this:Baingan ka bharta with fresh roti? Peak summer.
Cucumber (Kheera)
This one needs no intro. It’s the official snack of summer, full of water and other nutrients. Slice it, sprinkle with chaat masala, and you’re good to go. It’s also great for refreshing raitas and quick salads.
For Planting: The ideal sowing season for cucumber in Pakistan is primarily during the spring (February-April) and the monsoon season (July-August).
Cucumber Benefits: Cucumber has a rich water content which helps in lowering blood sugar levels, preventing constipation and also supporting weight loss. It is rich in antioxidants, which can combat many chronic conditions. Cucumber is also used to make detox water, which helps remove toxins from your body, lowers blood pressure, and improves skin health.
Try It: Add black pepper and lemon to a cucumber mix and get addicted.
Why You Should be Eating Seasonally (Especially in Pakistan)
Here’s the thing; we don’t need kale or asparagus flown in from who-knows-where. Our own land offers exactly what our bodies need, when we need it.
Cucumbers to cool us down.
Fibre-rich gourds to help our digestion.
Water-rich veggies to stay hydrated.
Also, seasonal produce is cheaper, fresher, and more flavourful. You can literally smell the difference between a sun-ripened local kheera and the waxy, imported stuff.
Here are some quick tips that are needed to utilise the most from these summer season vegetables in Pakistan:
Buy early in the day. The vegetable sellers bring their best stuff in the morning. By noon, it’s all sun-wilted.
Store them properly. Don’t toss karela and bhindi into a hot kitchen drawer. Keep them in breathable cloth bags in the fridge.
Cook light. Heavy masalas + 40°C = food coma. Use lemon juice, mustard seeds, and fresh coriander to keep things airy.
Use the skin: Karela peel in chutneys or Baingan skins in compost. Don’t waste it.
Grow your own, even if it’s just mint and coriander. It’s cheaper and ridiculously satisfying.
It’s Not Just Food!
Summer vegetables in Pakistan aren’t just about survival. They’re about slowing down, cooking simply and remembering that our ancestors lived well before cold storage and microwaves.
If you’re lucky enough to still have a dadi or nani around, ask them how they used to cook tinday or bhindi. They’ll probably tell you a story, and maybe you’ll come across a recipe worth passing on. So yeah, summer’s rough but your sabzi doesn’t have to be.

Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has once again found himself at the center of a storm, this time for comments regarding Pakistan’s potential participation in the Asia Cup 2025.
What started as a simple interview quickly escalated into a full-blown controversy, with prominent Pakistani cricketers, including Javed Miandad, voicing their strong disapproval.
The Comments That Sparked the Fire
In an interview with an Indian news outlet, Gavaskar stirred the pot by questioning whether Pakistan would even be part of the upcoming Asia Cup.
His remarks centred around the idea that political tensions between India and Pakistan could play a significant role in determining whether the two nations meet on the field at this prestigious event.
Gavaskar pointed out that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has historically aligned itself with the Indian government’s stance, which could make it difficult for Pakistan to participate if the political situation doesn’t improve.
As he put it: “BCCI’s stance has always followed the Indian government’s direction. If the situation hasn’t changed, I don’t see Pakistan taking part in the Asia Cup,” Gavaskar remarked.
Not Just About Participation: The Future of the ACC
Gavaskar didn’t stop at casting doubt on Pakistan’s involvement. He also went a step further by suggesting that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) could potentially be dissolved.
Instead of the usual Asia Cup format, he speculated that we might see tri-series or four-nation events emerge if the regional dynamics shift in the coming months.
“It’s possible that the Asian Cricket Council could be dissolved. Instead, we might see a tri-series or a four-nation event. What happens next will depend on how things unfold,” he added.
These remarks raised eyebrows, given the huge role that the ACC plays in organising one of the biggest tournaments in world cricket. But what really caught attention was the political undercurrent running through his comments.
Pakistan’s Cricketing Legends Respond
As expected, Gavaskar’s comments didn’t sit well with Pakistan’s cricketing fraternity. Javed Miandad, one of Pakistan’s most respected cricketers and a long-time admirer of Gavaskar, expressed his surprise and disappointment.
“I can’t believe Sunny bhai said that,” Miandad said. “He’s always been a respectful, down-to-earth person who stayed away from political talk.”
The sentiment was clear: Miandad felt that Gavaskar’s comments had crossed a line, moving away from cricket and into the political arena.
Iqbal Qasim, the former left-arm spinner, echoed Miandad’s reaction. He initially questioned whether Gavaskar had been misquoted, but then firmly stated: “He’s a responsible figure, respected on both sides of the border. Politics should never mix with sports.”
However, the most blunt response came from former cricketer Basit Ali, who did not mince words. “Stupid comments,” Ali said. “Let’s not jump to conclusions. Cricket should stay above political hostilities.”
His frustration with the remarks was palpable, and it highlighted a growing sentiment that the game of cricket should be kept free from the influence of politics.
The Bigger Picture: Should Politics Influence Cricket?
Gavaskar’s comments highlight a larger issue — the intersection of politics and sports. Cricket has always been a unifying force in South Asia, transcending political barriers and bringing nations together.
However, when comments like these are made by influential figures, it raises questions about how much politics should interfere with the sport.
For many, the game is about much more than just national pride. It’s a way to showcase talent, bring joy to millions of fans, and serve as a platform for the sport’s global growth.
As we look toward the Asia Cup 2025, the hope is that the focus will remain on the game itself and not on the political tensions that often cloud its beauty.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has just dropped some exciting news — Fatima Sana, the captain of Pakistan’s women’s cricket team, has been nominated for the Women’s Player of the Month Award for April 2025.
But she’s not alone in this prestigious race. Fatima is up against two equally remarkable players: Hayley Matthews of the West Indies and Katherine Bryce of Scotland. All three players were standouts at the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier, which was held in Lahore last month.
Let’s break down why these three players are in the spotlight.
Fatima Sana: Pakistan’s Captain in the Limelight
Fatima Sana’s nomination is no surprise given her stellar performances throughout the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier. The Pakistan captain led her team to an unbeaten campaign in the tournament, picking up a total of 12 wickets at a remarkable economy rate of just 3.97.
Her standout performance came against Scotland, where Fatima put on an exceptional show with the ball, taking four wickets for 23 runs in just five overs. This match was a clear indication of her ability to turn games with her bowling.
But Fatima didn’t stop there. She also showcased her batting skills, contributing a crucial 62 runs against Thailand — another valuable performance that helped her side dominate the tournament.
Fatima’s well-rounded contributions make her a deserving nominee, especially as she guided Pakistan to victory without losing a single game.
Hayley Matthews: West Indies’ Captain Leads from the Front
Then we have Hayley Matthews, the captain of the West Indies, who also shone brightly at the Qualifier. Matthews was the leading wicket-taker in the competition, picking up 13 wickets in just five innings at an impressive average of 15.84. But her prowess didn’t end with the ball.
Matthews also contributed with the bat, accumulating 240 runs at a stellar strike rate of 116.50, averaging 60 per innings. Her most significant knock came against Scotland, where she not only took four wickets but also smashed a match-winning century.
In the final game of the Qualifier, Matthews went all out with a blistering 70 runs from 29 balls. This effort was crucial in the West Indies’ chase of 167 runs. However, despite her explosive performance, the West Indies fell short, finishing third due to a heartbreaking Net Run Rate margin of just 0.01.
Still, Matthews’ all-around brilliance made her an easy pick for this nomination.
Katherine Bryce: Scotland’s Star Player
Last but definitely not least, we have Katherine Bryce, who had an outstanding tournament for Scotland.
As their captain, Bryce not only led with the bat but also contributed with the ball. She finished as the leading run-scorer in the tournament, amassing 293 runs in five innings at a jaw-dropping average of 73.25.
Bryce’s 131 (not out)* against Thailand was the highest individual score of the tournament and showcased her ability to anchor the innings. On top of her batting exploits, she was also a handy bowler, picking up six wickets.
For her all-around performances, Bryce was deservedly named the Player of the Tournament, a title that speaks volumes about her leadership and versatility.
A Tough Contest: Who Will Take the Crown?
As the nominations for April 2025’s Women’s Player of the Month roll in, it’s clear that Fatima Sana, Hayley Matthews, and Katherine Bryce are all deserving of the recognition. With their exceptional performances in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier, all three players have set the bar high.
Who will take home the crown? We’ll have to wait and see, but one thing is certain — women’s cricket is in safe hands with these extraordinary players leading the way.

Not every second chance in cricket comes dressed in green. For Zafar Gohar, the comeback trail winds through county grounds in England, not Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
At 30, Gohar isn’t just bowling with renewed fire for Middlesex in the 2025 County Championship, he’s also eyeing something bigger: the possibility of donning an England cap.
It’s a storyline stitched with heartbreak, persistence, and bold reinvention.
The Nightmare That Started It All
Rewind to 2015. A young Zafar Gohar, brimming with potential, gets a late-night call to join the Pakistan Test squad in the UAE as Yasir Shah’s injury replacement.
He was in Faisalabad, playing domestic cricket, when the call came. The catch? He had to catch a 3 AM flight from Lahore.
“It was a dream come true — to get a call to join the national team — but I was drained,” Gohar recalled in a recent interview with British media.
“I waited until late at night for travel details, then was told to rest. I could not wake up in time. The next morning, they blamed everything on me. I was devastated.”
That one missed flight derailed what could have been a long stint in Pakistan colours.
Lost in the System, Found in the County
Although Zafar Gohar later featured in a solitary ODI (2015) and a Test (2021), he never got a fair run.
Despite strong performances, he was often overlooked. His 2022 season for Gloucestershire — 47 wickets and 500 runs — should’ve made headlines in Pakistan’s selection committee room. But instead, he was told, “county stats don’t matter.”
Disillusioned but not defeated, Gohar made a massive life decision. He secured British citizenship, and after more than three years away from Pakistan’s national team, he became eligible to represent England.
Making a Statement in 2025
Now with Middlesex, Gohar isn’t just playing county cricket — he’s bossing it. With 15 wickets in the first four rounds of the current season, he’s the top-performing spinner in the competition.
And he’s not afraid to dream big.
“I think I have just reached my prime, and I feel ready to take on this new challenge,” he said.
“I had heard England was the toughest place for spinners to get wickets but I got wickets. That was the point I decided, right, I am going to take my chance.”
For Gohar, the idea of playing for England isn’t about switching allegiances out of bitterness. It’s about taking control of a career that slipped away due to missed chances and mismanagement.
It may sound strange to some — a Pakistani-born left-arm spinner representing England — but Gohar is walking a path many before him have treaded, from Kevin Pietersen to Eoin Morgan to Jofra Archer.
Yes, the odds are high. Breaking into England’s national setup at 30 is no easy feat. But Gohar thrives on challenges.
“I know it is a big, big ask to get picked for England, but I love challenges,” he concluded.

Sydney Sweeney And Patrick Schwarzenegger's Vegas Moment Goes Viral at Palm Tree Beach Club
Sydney Sweeney and Patrick Schwarzenegger made headlines after a cute interaction at an event in Las Vegas went viral. Video footage of the exchange made the rounds on social media, garnering attention relative to the event, though it didn’t create news.
The two were spotted at the Palm Tree Beach Club at the MGM Grand on Saturday. Sweeney, recently single after ending her relationship with Jonathan Davino in late 2022, wore a white tank top and denim mini skirt. She mingled with several celebrities, including Machine Gun Kelly. However, everyone’s attention stayed on her light-hearted exchange with Schwarzenegger, who stars in The White Lotus.
Daily Mail reported that Sweeney pointed out food stuck in Schwarzenegger’s teeth. He immediately checked using his phone’s front camera, causing Sweeney to laugh. The moment took off on social media, and shortly after, the two were seen dancing together, fueling more buzz.
Despite their playful interaction, sources confirmed that Sweeney and Schwarzenegger are just friends. Schwarzenegger is engaged to model Abby Champion. The couple has been together for nearly a decade and plans to marry in 2025.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Schwarzenegger shared, “When we first met, I was 21, she was 18… Over the years, I just continuously fell more and more in love with her.” He added that growing together has made their relationship stronger.
Outside of his relationship, Schwarzenegger has shown interest in leading a reboot of American Psycho. He called the role his “dream” when a fan asked about it online and responded to news that Luca Guadagnino might direct the project.

Federal Minister for Information, Attaullah Tarar, along with representatives of both international and local media, visited the Line of Control (LoC) to show the actual situation on the ground. The visit was meant to counter India’s repeated claims that Pakistan is supporting terrorist activities from its side of the border, according to Radio Pakistan.
The Ministry of Information arranged the tour, allowing journalists to visit places India has often called militant camps. These claims are part of India’s ongoing narrative to justify tensions at the LoC. Pakistan denies these accusations and calls them a part of India’s effort to spread false information.
During the visit, journalists were shown the specific locations that India mentioned in its statements. But instead of militant hideouts, media representatives saw normal civilian life—homes, markets and community areas. People living in those areas spoke to the media and shared their experiences, which also proved that India’s claims were false.
While addressing the media, Attaullah Tarar said, “India has made baseless allegations against Pakistan time and again. Today, we have presented the truth before both international and national media. The places India labels as terrorist camps are, in fact, peaceful civilian areas.” He added, “Pakistan is a responsible state—committed not just to regional, but to global peace. We unequivocally condemn terrorism in all its forms, anywhere in the world.”
Tarar also warned that while Pakistan wants peace, it will not tolerate any attacks on its sovereignty. He said, “We’ve proven through our conduct that we are advocates of peace. But make no mistake—if our sovereignty is challenged, we will respond decisively. India, before making baseless accusations, should take a long, hard look at its record of human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).”
He also said India’s claims are a way to cover its own policy failures in IIOJK.
Earlier, the Pakistan Army briefed top political leaders about the ongoing situation with India. According to sources, the army assured them that they are fully ready to respond if India shows any aggression. The closed-door session included Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Director General ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry. They gave a full briefing on the situation after the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, which led to increased tension between the two countries.
