Former Pakistan cricketer Saeed Ajmal has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for dropping Babar Azam from the squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. The five-match series will begin on Sunday.
Babar has faced mounting criticism due to his recent performances across formats, including the ongoing ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. He has scored only 87 runs in two innings at an average of 43.50. With growing discussions about his place in the team, selectors decided to exclude him from the New Zealand series.
Ajmal strongly opposed the decision, warning the PCB against disrespecting Babar and urging former cricketers to stop unnecessary criticism.
“You have only one star. If you degrade him also, then how will your cricket run? These are the big issues. Our former cricketers should keep their mouths shut,” Ajmal said in an interview with an Indian sports magazine.
Defending Babar, Ajmal emphasised that all players experience bad patches. He cited Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar as an example, stating that even he couldn’t score in every match.
“As a cricketer, one must realise that bad patches are part of a player’s career. You can’t play cricket the same way all your life. Even if you were Tendulkar, you couldn’t score 100 in every match,” he said.
Ajmal also criticised the PCB’s handling of the situation, arguing that Babar and white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan should have received proper guidance instead of being removed.
“The way you’ve removed them is wrong. They aren’t the only ones who haven’t scored,” he said. “Ideally, the selectors should sit with Babar and discuss his workload, so he can come back stronger.”
He dismissed concerns over Babar and Rizwan’s strike rates, comparing them to Virat Kohli’s playing style.
“Come on, what aggression are we talking about? If they are your proven match-winners, you don’t need aggression. Even legends like Virat often pace their innings before attacking—that’s his style,” Ajmal concluded.
Pakistan Cricketers Fined for Disciplinary Breaches
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has fined several players for breaching the code of conduct during recent home and away series, with pacer Aamer Jamal receiving the heaviest penalty. The board clarified that these disciplinary matters remain internal.
According to sources, players have collectively paid fines exceeding PKR 3 million for various violations during the home series against England and the away series against South Africa.
Aamer Jamal received the largest fine of approximately PKR 1.3 million after wearing a cap with a political slogan during an interview in the England series.
During the series in Australia, team management penalised three players with fines of PKR 500,000 each for returning late to the hotel.
In South Africa, Salman Ali Agha, Abdullah Shafique, Saim Ayub, and Abbas Afridi violated the team curfew and faced disciplinary action.
The PCB stated that it does not publicly disclose disciplinary issues to protect players’ reputations. Like other cricket boards worldwide, the PCB keeps such matters private to avoid unnecessary controversy.

Thieves broke into the farmhouse of Pakistani cricketers Kamran and Umar Akmal’s father in Lahore, stealing newly installed solar panels worth Rs500,000 in broad daylight. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Heyr police station, where unidentified suspects broke the main gate’s lock and entered the property. They removed the solar panels and fled the scene before anyone could intervene.
The victim, father of the former Pakistan wicketkeepers, expressed his frustration over the theft. “We put it up yesterday, and today the thieves took it away,” he told local media. The solar system had only been installed a day before the robbery.
Police reached the farmhouse soon after the theft was reported. Authorities stated that CCTV footage and other evidence were being analysed to identify the culprits. SP Cantonment Owais Shafiq confirmed that a case had been registered against unknown suspects on the complaint of the farmhouse’s coach, Kashif Mahmood.
He further added that officers had been directed to trace and arrest the thieves as soon as possible. The investigation is ongoing and authorities are working to recover the stolen solar panels.

As Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 approaches, Pakistanis are eager to uphold the cherished tradition of giving ‘Eidi’—gifts of money, typically in the form of crisp, new currency notes.
In previous years, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) facilitated this custom by issuing fresh notes worth millions of rupees before the festival. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, this practice has been discontinued, leaving many to rely on worn-out notes for their Eid celebrations.
This year, the SBP has yet to make an official announcement regarding the issuance of new currency notes for Eid. Sources indicate that the likelihood of fresh notes being released remains low, continuing the trend from recent years.
Consequently, those wishing to present new notes as Eidi may have to turn to the black market, where currency dealers are expected to sell them at inflated prices—a common occurrence during the festive season.
Eid-ul-Fitr is anticipated to fall on 30 March 2025, marking the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal. The exact date will be confirmed by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee based on the sighting of the moon. This year, Pakistanis may enjoy an extended holiday period, with reports suggesting a break from 29 March to 6 April 2025.
In the absence of official channels for obtaining fresh currency notes, individuals are advised to plan accordingly for their Eidi preparations. Staying informed through official SBP communications and avoiding black market dealings can help ensure a safe and joyous Eid celebration for all.

The landing gear wheel that went missing during the takeoff of a PIA plane bound for Lahore has finally been located in a remote corner of the Karachi airport.
According to the PAA, the missing wheel was found near the remote parking bay at Jinnah International Airport, close to the II Chundrigar Hangar. Wheel shop technicians spotted the Airbus A320 wheel lying near the landing gear of a grounded Boeing 777. The PAA has confirmed that there is no evidence of any casualties or financial damage resulting from the wheel’s detachment.
Investigations have revealed that the wheel detached during takeoff, yet the issue remained unreported until the aircraft landed in Lahore, raising serious concerns about aviation safety standards.
Aviation authority and PIA’s engineering team are conducting a comprehensive investigation to prevent such incidents in the future. Initial reports suggest that the possible reasons behind the detachment of this critical component could include deficiencies in maintenance procedures, manufacturing defects and material fatigue.
Given the stringent storage requirements for aircraft spare parts where factors like temperature and material integrity are closely monitored, this incident has prompted deeper scrutiny.
Airbus, the maker of the aircraft, has reached out to the PIA and launched a detailed technical investigation into the matter.
It has requested a full incident report including flight data records from the past three months, checklists and maintenance history and a comprehensive assessment of the landing gear and other critical systems.

Pakistan is currently facing a significant smoking problem, with 31 million smokers and over 160,000 deaths each year due to smoking-related issues. Despite decades of stringent tobacco control policies, smoking rates remain disturbingly high, showing that traditional approaches have not been successful. For smokers who do not want to quit, tobacco harm reduction (THR) presents a practical and effective solution. This approach, which is being adopted by many countries worldwide, allows smokers to reduce health risks.
Around 144 million people globally have already transitioned to better alternatives, indicating a shift in how countries regulate these products and address smoking-related harm. Proper regulation ensures smoke-free products are effective, clearly labeled, and responsibly marketed. It also helps raise awareness and prevents smokers from using unregulated or harmful products. In the U.S., for instance, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently authorised the marketing of Zyn nicotine pouches, a smoke-free, tobacco-free product, acknowledging it as a better option.
Sadly, Pakistan has not yet embraced this approach. Anti-tobacco organisations (ATOs) are making it even more challenging for smoke-free products to be viewed as part of a harm reduction strategy. These groups host seminars, advocacy campaigns and discussions to invite government officials and bring them on board to influence policy decisions that oppose THR alternatives. Although products like Zyn nicotine pouches, heated tobacco products (HTPs) and vapes are available in Pakistan, ATOs continue to push for restrictive measures. They overlook the scientific evidence that while nicotine is addictive, it is the combustion process – not nicotine – that causes the majority of harm. By eliminating combustion, smokers can greatly reduce their exposure to dangerous substances like tar and carbon monoxide.
Therefore, a scientifically-informed approach in Pakistan could provide effective solutions to the smoking crisis.

India’s biggest telecom majors, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, have both signed unexpected agreements with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to introduce Starlink internet services in the nation. The sudden development has left everyone surprised, especially considering that Musk had earlier had a run-in with these firms over satellite spectrum usage.
A Game-Changing Move for Internet Connectivity
With the world’s second-largest internet market in India and more than 670 million Indians remaining without access to the internet, Starlink’s foray intends to fill this digital gap, particularly in the far-flung and rural areas where conventional broadband services do not reach.
Source: BBC
The agreements are still pending regulatory clearance, but if implemented, could dramatically change internet connectivity in India. Jio aims to market Starlink devices in its physical stores and e-shops and even provide installation services. Airtel, meanwhile, aims to merge Starlink’s services with its existing partnership with Starlink rival Eutelsat OneWeb to enhance connectivity even more.
Musk’s Influence and Policy Shifts
For Musk, these partnerships mark a significant win. After advocating for administrative spectrum allocation rather than auctioning, the Indian government’s recent policy shift aligned with Musk’s preference. His meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month, where they discussed cooperation in space technology, further paved the way for these partnerships.
Source: Connected INTL
Pricing: The Deciding Factor for Consumers
From a customer point of view, the price will be an important issue. Conventional mobile data in India is one of the lowest prices in the globe at about 150 rupees ($2) monthly. Satellite broadband, on the other hand, tends to be about $150 per month. Nevertheless, the collaborations with Jio and Airtel may see prices fall to about 3,000 rupees ($36) monthly, making it cheaper for the masses.
Experts think the deals are also a means for Jio and Airtel to adjust to India’s changing telecom policy. Jio, which had been advocating for spectrum auctions, probably chose to partner with Starlink rather than risk falling behind.
Ultimately, these collaborations represent a strategic move for all concerned. For Musk, it’s a stepping stone to creating Starlink in India’s gigantic internet market. For Jio and Airtel, it’s a survival strategy to remain competitive in a changing telecom scenario.

In a decision that has left solar panel owners upset, the Pakistani government has made drastic changes to its net metering policy, cutting benefits for new users by 63% and increasing electricity prices more than 550% above the old rates.
What the New Policy Entails
According to the new policy, the owners of rooftop solar panels will supply electricity to the national grid for as little as Rs10 per unit. But they have to purchase power at the then-existing rate of about Rs65 per unit. Previously, the system used to permit electricity generated by solar power to be netted against the units received from the national grid. But the new policy stops this netting facility altogether, raising costs for solar users by a great margin.
This significant policy change was endorsed by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, headed by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. Moreover, technical specifications have been made stricter to limit low-quality solar panel installations.
Impact on Existing Users
Existing net-metered consumers possessing valid licenses and contracts under NEPRA’s 2015 regulations are exempt from this policy for the time being until their contracts lapse, with a maximum duration of seven years.
However, after these contracts expire, they will be at the mercy of the same detrimental terms, leaving many wondering why the government should be interested in encouraging renewable energy.
Government’s Justification
The government asserts this policy shift is to ease the financial burden on non-solar consumers. It contends that the growing number of solar panel users has caused a loss of about Rs101 billion in the last fiscal year, and this will increase to Rs545 billion by 2034.
Source: Tribune
But critics argue that the government is turning a blind eye to the bigger problem of electricity theft, under-recovery of bills and payments for idle capacity, which cause yearly losses of about Rs600 billion.
Decreased Incentives, Higher Costs
The new policy also limits distributed generation capacity to a one-to-one ratio with the approved load, from the earlier 1.5 times. Additionally, the net-metering contract term has been shortened from seven years to five, with no option of cashing out surplus electricity; it can only be applied to future bills.
The policy change is bound to adversely affect the expansion of solar panel installations in Pakistan, which had accelerated from 5 MW in 2017 to 4,135 MW as of December 2024.

Our skin is one of the most sensitive yet important organ of our body. Everyone wants that Korean glass skin but not everyone can afford the 10-step Korean skincare. Then what to do? Leave the skin dull and dry and just hope for a miracle?
No, instead, we can use some natural ingredients to boost the skin’s vitality and health. That too without any side effects or breaking the bank!
Virgin Coconut Oil
Who doesn’t love coconut oil? Many people don’t know that coconut oil is not only good for hair but skin too; especially dry and dull skin as it has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and healing properties. It brings moisture into the skin and offers protection against the UV rays hence allowing the skin to look healthy and not wrinkly.
Using Instructions
Warm the oil slightly in palms of your hands and apply it to the face and neck.
Use fingertips and massage the oil into the skin in circular motions.
Apply on the necessary areas and sleep with the oil on. Wash off your face next morning.
You can also mix it with brown sugar and use it as a natural exfoliator once or twice per week.
Always use a cleanser to wash it off properly.
Disclaimer: Note that using coconut oil on your face may not work for every skin type. Do not use if you have allergies to coconut.
This is one of the most important natural ingredients used for skin health and rejuvenation. Even the most used skin care products have Aloe-Vera because it has healing properties and stimulates new cell growth. It also has nourishing properties that calm the irritated skin, prevents acne and improves skin elasticity. Aloe Vera is undoubtedly the perfect ingredient for a supple, clear and velvety-smooth skin. Most importantly, it doesn’t clog the pores; that is very rare for natural ingredients.
Using Instructions
Scrape out all the gel from a plant (you can use the local one from a supermarket too, but using it directly from the plant is more preferred).
Apply the gel to your face and leave it for 15 to 20 mins.
Rinse it with lukewarm water and then pat dry.
Otherwise, you can also eat the gel directly instead of applying it to your skin, but that might be difficult to swallow.
Disclaimer: It’s possible to be allergic to Aloe Vera. Test it first by rubbing a small amount on your forearm and if there’s no reaction in 24 hours, it should be safe to use.
Aloe Vera Gel
Honey
Honey is known as a natural bleaching agent. It has moisturising as well as antibacterial nourishing properties. It helps reduce blemishes, acne, pigmentation and face scars. The ingredient also has properties that can put a pause to premature aging and gives an even skin tone overall. Who knew our beloved natural sweet syrup is not only good for the gut health but also the skin too!
Using Instructions
You can apply raw honey directly onto the face or mix it in masks to get clear skin.
If you are applying it directly on skin, then make sure your skin is damp so the honey can absorb into the skin.
It can also be used as a lip or body scrub when mixed with sugar.
Honey
Turmeric
Turmeric is one of the most used and vital ingredients in any skin-related product. It has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, making it effective for acne-prone skin. This brightly coloured spice has Curcumin that helps suppress melanin production and instantly lightens skin tone. It also aids in the restoration of natural shine and can help patchy skin tone.
Using Instructions
Make a simple paste of 1 part turmeric to 2 parts water. Simmer until it thickens and cools. Then apply it to your skin.
Otherwise, you can also mix turmeric with other natural ingredients like honey. Try mixing 1 tablespoon honey with 1 teaspoon of turmeric. Apply to your face/neck and leave it on for 15 minutes then rinse and pat dry.
Disclaimer: Before rubbing turmeric on your face, remember that it can temporarily stain your skin a yellow-orangish color. More importantly, some people are allergic to turmeric. Test it on a small area of skin before applying it to sensitive facial skin.
Turmeric powder
Ginger
Ginger, a natural ingredient that is rich in antioxidants like gingerol, can contribute to naturally glowing skin by fighting free radicals. Lately, this ingredient is getting really popular as people are discovering that it helps reduce inflammation and promotes circulation, which can help brighten and even out skin tone. Many people lately are trying ginger shots, despite how hard they are to drink.
Using Instruction
Mix grated ginger with honey and yogurt for a revitalising face mask that can help brighten the skin and reduce blemishes.
Otherwise, you can also consume ginger by drinking ginger shots daily. Mix it with other natural ingredients like carrot or an orange for better taste.
Disclaimer: While ginger offers numerous benefits, it’s important to use it in moderation only.
Ginger
Our kitchens are stocked with ingredients that are the biggest beauty aids. Most importantly, these ingredients have been used for centuries so nothing can be as trustable as them. Just make sure that you also keep a check on sanitation and remain consistent on whatever ingredient you opt for.

The vibrant festival of Holi is being celebrated by millions of South Asians by wearing bright powder, dancing and feasting on traditional sweets. This festival of colours is a kaleidoscopic celebration of the end of winter and the triumph of good over evil.
The History of Holi
Holi has its origins in Hindu mythology and is the celebration of divine love between the Hindu god Krishna and his consort Radha. It signifies a time of rebirth and rejuvenation.
The boisterous celebrations are widely held in the northern Indian cities of Mathura and Vrindavan, believed to be their birthplace.
Villagers from Barsana and Nandgaon sing and dance as they participate in Lathmar Holi
What Happens in the Festival?
Across the continent, people are mostly dressed in all white clothes and celebrate the festival by hurling coloured powder at each other. People also perch on rooftops and balconies, and through water balloons filled with pigments at passers by.
Holi celebrations in India
Groups also gather together and use water guns to chase people down in public parks and on the roads. On the other hand, streets blare with music with people jamming and enjoying. In some places, people use flowers like marigolds, roses and jasmine petals instead of coloured powder.
Important Features of the Festival
Food and drinks are a big part of the festivities. Many vendors sell thandai, a traditional light green beverage prepared with milk, cardamom, dried fruit, gujia, a flaky, deep-fried sweet pastry stuffed with milk curds, nuts and dried fruit. It is a compulsory drink of the festival.
Another very popular tradition that marks Holi is bhang. This local drink is prepared with cannabis and consumed with milk or water. It is legal in India and is sold by licensed sellers.
In many parts of India, people also light large bonfires the night before the festival to signify the destruction of evil and victory of good. Families gather around the flames to sing, dance and pray to Hindu gods.
It’s really refreshing to see people enjoy the Holy Spirit across Asia despite the differences. For those who celebrate, the festival gives them a chance to connect with the community in a playful manner.
Happy Holi to all those celebrating!

This project aims to enhance SPL’s production capabilities – to meet the latest international trends and incorporate advanced security features for banknote paper to accommodate the evolving requirements of State Bank of Pakistan which recently announced the launch of a new banknote series.
The agreement for the upgradation was officially formalized during a signing ceremony at SPL’s head office in Karachi. Imran Qureshi, CEO of Security Papers Limited, signed the agreement on behalf of the company, while Claudio Sgarlata, Managing Director Middle East and Africa, for the Currency Management Solutions business of global SecurityTech company Giesecke+Devrient (G+D), represented G+D.
The ceremony was also attended by Peter Schroffenegger, VP Key Account MEA – Currency Management Solutions, Giesecke+Devrient (G+D); Aftab Manzoor, Chairman, Security Papers Limited; Arshad Mehmood Bhatti, Managing Director, Pakistan Security Printing Corporation; and Rizwan Butt, Managing Director, SICPA, along with members of the senior management team from Security Papers Limited.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 3.4 billion, which includes an international tender worth Euro 8.297 million awarded to Giesecke+Devrient (G+D), Germany. The upgradation is expected to be completed within 18 months, during which SPL’s Paper Machine PM-2 will be enhanced to produce banknote paper with the latest security features.
Imran Qureshi, CEO of SPL, emphasized, “This upgradation is vital to fulfilling the SBP’s requirements for the new banknote series. By strengthening our manufacturing capabilities, we will not only ensure that Pakistan’s currency remains secure and resistant to counterfeiting but also establish SPL as a leader in the global currency security paper market, capable of meeting the highest international standards.”

Meta has announced it will test a new crowdsourced fact-checking feature called “Community Notes,”which will utilise an open-source algorithm developed by Elon Musk’s X.
The decision, revealed by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in January, comes after a broader shift within Big Tech to realign with conservative voices and US President Donald Trump’s administration. This shift followed years of complaints that fact-checking efforts were overly politicised and skewed against conservative perspectives.
While conservatives, including Trump, have largely praised Meta’s new approach, misinformation experts have expressed concern that the new system could worsen the spread of false information and fake news across social platforms.
In a blog post on Thursday, Meta explained that using X’s algorithm would allow it to continuously improve its Community Notes feature, with the goal of enhancing its performance on Meta’s platforms over time. The company emphasised that this initiative would evolve based on feedback from users and real-world testing.
“We’re building this in the open while learning from contributors and observing its real-world impact,” Meta said in the post. “Although we don’t expect immediate perfection, we will continue refining and adjusting our approach as we gain more insights.”

Pakistan opener Saim Ayub is still recovering from an ankle injury he suffered during the Cape Town Test against South Africa in January. His participation in PSL 2025 will depend on a detailed medical assessment scheduled for Tuesday. The 22-year-old is undergoing rehabilitation under the supervision of Pakistan cricket trainer Hanif Malik. British specialists will conduct the medical evaluation to determine his fitness for the tournament, which begins on April 11.
Initially, Saim was expected to recover in six weeks, but he missed the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and Pakistan’s white-ball tour of New Zealand as a precaution. PCB has been sharing his training and rehabilitation videos on Instagram, keeping fans updated on his progress. His return to competitive cricket depends on the upcoming medical report.
Saim sustained the injury while attempting to stop a boundary in the Cape Town Test. Twisting his ankle in the process, he was taken off the field and ruled out for the rest of the series. Early scans suggested a shorter recovery time, but PCB decided not to rush him back into action. His availability for PSL 2025 now hinges on his latest medical assessment.
If cleared, Saim will return to Peshawar Zalmi, where he is listed in the Platinum category alongside Babar Azam. Zalmi is closely monitoring his progress as they finalise their squad for the season. A final decision on his return is expected soon.

Pakistan’s fast bowlers have long been the talk of the cricketing world. But are the current generation of fast bowlers as good as they are hyped up to be? Former England all-rounder Moeen Ali seems to think otherwise. Speaking on a podcast, Moeen challenged the popular notion that Pakistan has the best seamers in world cricket.
“There is this thing, people, especially those with a Pakistani background, will say Pakistan has the best seamers. I am like no. They are good, but no, they are not the best.”
Are Pakistan’s Pacers Overrated?
Moeen Ali specifically mentioned Pakistan’s current pace trio—Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf. While he acknowledged their talent, he was clear in his opinion that they are not the best in the world.
“Naseem, Shaheen, and Haris Rauf are very good, don’t get me wrong. We are not saying they are bad, but they are not the best either.”
This is an interesting take, considering that Pakistan’s bowling attack is often considered their biggest strength. The trio has certainly produced some magical spells, but have they been consistent enough to earn the ‘best in the world’ tag?
Moeen’s Perspective – A Reality Check?
Moeen also praised Pakistan’s fast-bowling system, highlighting how well the coaches develop talent.
“Pakistan does produce good fast bowlers, and it’s something in their coaching. Having seen guys coach them, they coach unbelievably well.”
However, he also pointed out that recent performances haven’t been convincing, especially in major tournaments like the 2025 Champions Trophy. There’s no denying that Shaheen, Naseem, and Haris have struggled at times, and their ability to deliver in high-pressure games has been questioned.
Are Pakistan’s Pacers Declining?
Over the last couple of years, Pakistan’s pacers have been inconsistent on the big stage. Injuries, fluctuating form, and lack of game awareness at crucial moments have led to disappointing results.
Shaheen Afridi has shown glimpses of brilliance but hasn’t always been as lethal as expected.
Naseem Shah has been promising but injury setbacks have slowed him down.
Haris Rauf, known for his raw pace, has struggled with control and consistency.
With teams like India, Australia, and England boasting strong bowling attacks, Pakistan’s pace unit needs to step up to reclaim its former glory.

England’s young batting sensation, Harry Brook, has found himself in hot water with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after pulling out of IPL 2025 at the last minute. As a result, Brook has been banned from participating in the IPL for the next two seasons—a move that has sparked plenty of debate.
Why Was Harry Brook Banned?
Harry Brook was signed by Delhi Capitals for INR 6.25 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. However, just weeks before the tournament was set to begin, he announced his withdrawal, citing the need to focus on his England commitments and take a break after a hectic schedule.
While his reasoning was understandable, BCCI’s new rule—which states that any player who pulls out after being picked will face a two-year ban—meant that Brook had to face the consequences.
A BCCI official confirmed the decision:
“An official communication has been sent to ECB and Brook about BCCI banning him for two years as per its policy, which was informed to each player before they registered for the IPL auction last year.”
This means Brook won’t be eligible for IPL 2026 either, effectively ruling him out of the league for the foreseeable future.
Brook’s Side of the Story
The England batter, known for his explosive stroke play, made it clear that this wasn’t an easy decision. In a heartfelt statement, he said:
“I have made the very difficult decision to pull out of the upcoming IPL. I apologize unreservedly to the Delhi Capitals and their supporters.”
Brook explained that playing for England remains his top priority, and after a relentless schedule, he needed time to rest and prepare for the upcoming series.
“I know not everyone will understand, and I don’t expect them to, but I have to do what I believe is right.”
This isn’t the first time Brook has withdrawn from the IPL. In 2024, he pulled out due to the passing of his grandmother, which understandably kept him away from cricket.
Is the Ban Too Harsh?
Brook’s withdrawal is a blow for Delhi Capitals, but the bigger debate is whether a two-year ban is too severe. On one hand, BCCI’s stance makes sense—franchises invest millions in players, and pulling out at the last minute disrupts team balance.
On the other hand, players are human, and international commitments, personal reasons, and workload management are genuine concerns. With cricket schedules getting more demanding, some feel that a one-season ban would have been a fairer penalty.
What’s Next for Harry Brook?
With IPL off the table, Brook will now focus entirely on England duties. The talented batter will be a key figure for England in the T20 World Cup later this year, and his decision to skip IPL could help him stay fresh for the tournament.
As for IPL, only time will tell if Brook will return after his ban—or if he will decide to move on from the league altogether.

The Foreign Office said that terrorists involved in the Jaffar Express hijacking were in “direct contact” with their handlers in Afghanistan. Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan stated that Afghan soil was used in the attack, and terrorist ring leaders orchestrated the incident from abroad. He added that terrorists communicated with their Afghan-based planners throughout the standoff. The Foreign Office urged Kabul to cooperate and take action against those responsible.
Pakistan has repeatedly asked the Afghan government to prevent groups like the BLA from using its territory for attacks. “We urge Afghanistan to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers of this reprehensible act of terrorism accountable,” the spokesperson said. Pakistan will formally take up the matter with Afghan authorities after collecting evidence. However, the Afghan Taliban rejected Pakistan’s claims regarding the use of Afghan soil for the attack.
Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan are already tense and this incident may worsen the situation. The spokesperson said terrorist sanctuaries across the border are a major obstacle in bilateral ties. Other issues, like the closure of the Torkham border crossing since February 21, have also complicated relations. Additionally, Pakistan has set a March 31, 2025, deadline for Afghan Citizen Card holders to leave the country. Those remaining beyond this date will be considered illegal residents.
On the issue of a possible US travel ban on Pakistanis, the spokesperson dismissed the reports as speculation. “As of now, this is speculative,” he said, adding that Pakistan is in close contact with US authorities. He also provided details on the recent deportation of Pakistani diplomat KK Ahsan Wagan, who was denied entry to the US. Pakistan is investigating the incident, while the Foreign Office regretted the social media controversy surrounding it.

Whether you’re looking to rake in some serious Eidi or just wish to make an impression at those merry get-togethers, we’ve got you covered with the most up-to-date trends, styles and advice to give your look a boost this Eid.
The Colour Palette of Eid 2025
The narrative of this Eid is one of embracing refinement via soft, calming colours. Pastels and pale shades are making a big statement this year, providing a sophisticated and evergreen charm. Consider the following:
Dusk: A subdued grey-blue that speaks volumes about sophistication.
Evening Mist: A pale, dusty grey that can be both soothing and refined.
Baby Pink: Fresh and delicate, ideal for those who enjoy playing with pale colors.
Turquoise: A pale, airy colour that provides a touch of calmness.
Grey, Beige, Cream: Timeless neutrals that never fall out of fashion, giving a clean and sharp appearance.
These colours are not only fashionable but also convenient for keeping cool and comfortable on hot Eid days. With or without minimal embroidery, these colours will make you look fresh and stylish.
The Perfect Kurta Length
Now, let’s discuss the silhouette. This Eid, the kurta length is receiving a fashionable makeover. Gone are the traditional knee-length or longer cuts, and the fashion-forward length for 2025 is only one inch below your knee. Why the shift? It’s all about finding the right balance when combined with the next must-have element – flared pajamas.

The kurta, which is slightly shorter, forms a well-proportioned and streamlined appearance when draped over flared pajamas. And, it provides a contemporary spin on classic wear, making you look effortlessly stylish without compromising on traditional style.
Flared Pajamas – The Game Changer
Flared pajamas are stealing the thunder this Eid. Drawn from a retro inspiration but updated for modern times, the pajamas are all about producing an effortless flow and dramatic flair.

The most important thing for making this style work is making sure the fabric of the pajamas has a bit of heft to them. Thicker fabrics will keep the fabric draped correctly and cascading elegantly over your footwear. Light materials will puff or appear sloppy, so be certain to select responsibly.
The charm of flared pajamas is their adaptability. You can combine them with embroidered kurtas for a traditional feel or go for plain pastel colours for a contemporary Nawab look.
Footwear and Accessories
No fashion look is complete without accessories and footwear. Since your flared pajamas are going to fall over your shoes naturally, it’s necessary to choose shoes that go well with the overall style.
Classic Khussas or Peshawari Chappals: Ideal for introducing an authentic element to your look.
Loafers or Moccasins: If you like a semi-formal touch that remains grounded in traditional styles.
For accessories, go simple yet effective:
A timeless watch can make your overall look.
A slim waistcoat in contrasting colours can bring richness to your look.
Simple jewellry such as silver rings or discreet brooches can make the overall look.
This Eid, the menswear fashion is all about blending tradition with modern style. With the new kurta length, flared pajamas, and a more sophisticated pastel colour scheme, you’re good to go. Whether you are going to a family get-together or for Eid prayers, this look will make you confident and stylish.
Therefore, gentlemen, if you wish to dress as smart as the Eidi you are soon to get, this guide is your passport to dressing well this Eid 2025.

The Sindh government has launched a job portal aimed at providing employment opportunities to citizens. The portal will feature job listings from both government and private sector organisations. The launch ceremony was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, business community leaders and key figures.
Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon highlighted that 65% of Pakistan’s population consists of youth and the portal has been created to cater to their employment needs. He mentioned that both educated individuals and skilled workers can upload their CVs.
The portal will not only offer government job opportunities but also connect job seekers with private sector employers. He added that while many young people aspire to government jobs, projects like the People’s Housing Scheme are also creating skilled labour opportunities.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah stated that the job portal will allow the province’s youth to register. He emphasised that when opportunities and talent come together, the province will progress. He urged both job seekers and employers to register as much as possible. He noted that job advertisements for grades 1 to 4 will be posted on the portal, while jobs for grades 5 to 15 will be provided through the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) to ensure transparency. Temporary jobs will also be linked with this system.
Murad Ali Shah said efforts will be made to promote the job portal to encourage more people to register. He further stated that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has emerged as the largest party in Sindh and is committed to serving the people. The province has faced severe difficulties due to floods.
Following Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vision, a project for 2.1 million houses has been planned, with over 800,000 homes already built. He remarked that if the homes constructed for flood victims were considered as a country, it would be larger than 800 countries in the world.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has confirmed that there is no official visa ban on Pakistani nationals, according to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). The ministry shared this update with the National Assembly in response to a query from lawmaker Dr Nafisa Shah.
The UAE Embassy in Islamabad clarified that the country’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security has introduced a new five-year visa policy with additional requirements. Applicants now need to provide round-trip tickets, hotel bookings, proof of property ownership (if applicable), and a down payment of 3,000 Emirati dirhams (AED).
Although there is no formal ban, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that several factors have led to stricter scrutiny of Pakistani visa applications. These include cases of fake degrees, fraudulent employment contracts, visa overstays, and involvement in political or criminal activities. UAE authorities have also raised concerns about the misuse of social media by some Pakistani nationals.
The Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi has been in regular contact with UAE officials to address these issues, while MoFA’s Middle East Division has engaged with the UAE Embassy in Islamabad. To help streamline visa processing, they have been providing recommendation letters to the UAE Embassy. Emirati officials have reiterated that no official restrictions are in place for Pakistani applicants, reaffirming their commitment to resolving any challenges diplomatically.
