Pakistanโs Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and the US Secretary of Commerce held a virtual meeting to fix US tariff issues. The Ministry of Finance said both countries agreed to finalise a formal trade agreement soon. They showed intent to speed up the process.
The meeting focused on growing trade, increasing investment, and building stronger economic cooperation. Both sides agreed to continue working at the technical level. They planned to move ahead using a roadmap that they would decide together.
The Ministry of Finance said in a statement, “A virtual meeting was held between Pakistanโs Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and the US Secretary of Commerce.” The key goal remained finalising the trade deal quickly.
Both sides agreed to hold detailed technical-level talks without any delay. They planned to work under a clear roadmap to keep things simple and focused. They also hoped to achieve useful outcomes through these talks.
The Ministry added, “Talks were focused on strengthening trade, investment, and expanding economic ties between the two countries.” Pakistan wants fair tariff treatment and better access to the US market, making these talks important.
Both countries promised to boost economic cooperation. They want to keep the discussions on track and finish the deal soon. This can help improve long-term trade relations and reduce trade challenges.
The Ministry also said, “Both sides agreed to continue detailed technical-level negotiations under a mutually agreed roadmap.” However, they did not mention a date for the next meeting. Still, officials showed confidence in progress.
They ended the meeting with a clear goal: to finish the trade deal as soon as possible. Both teams showed they were serious about cutting trade barriers. The US remains one of Pakistanโs main trade partners.
