Forget being stuck in traffic, Dubai tests the first ever self-driving hover taxi Chinese prototype to curb its traffic woes. The transport authority of UAE is aiming for the flying taxi to be operational by July this year.

Dubai seeks to ensure that 25% of its means of transport becomes self-driving by the year 2030.

What is the EHang 184?

The EHang 184 is a single seater aerial vehicle which is self-driven. It is powered by 8 propellers and can travel at a speed of 100 km/h/ at an altitude of 300 metres. The quadcopter can take 30-minute flights and will be fully charged within 2 hours.

The Transport Authority head, Mattar al-Tayer said, “The autonomous aerial vehicle exhibited at the World Government Summit is not just a model.”

He further mentioned,

“We have already experimented with the vehicle in a flight in the Dubai sky.”

How Will Passengers Use the Hover Taxi?

A passenger will have to choose a destination for the self-driven taxi to take off, punch in the route and land in the specific spot monitored by a ground control center.
