Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has remained in headlines from the beginning of time. Not only was PIA one of the best international airlines of all-times, it can also be called the parenting company to Emirates, which now dominates the aviation sector!

The decision of making the government entity a private organization arose as it is in a deep loss and is next to bankrupt! The Pakistani government has finally gone with the decision to approve the airline’s privatization!

In the midst of its growing chaotic situation, a decision was needed as the image of the national carrier kept deteriorating even if they did something worth the praise, somehow it always got overshadowed by the bad.

With time, PIA seemed to say goodbye to its glory days and as days passed by, it was highlighted for its flaws! From drugs found on board to drunk pilots, to its unfortunate plane crashes, the airline has faced it all.

Prime Minister—Shahid Khaqan Abbasi of the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCoP), headed a meeting at the Prime Minister’s office, where the decision was finally taken. The meeting also finalized that all assets will be split and will be done with by the end of April 2018.

During the meeting, it was decided to separate the core and non-core business of the airline. RS-Tech has added to this that under the PIAC Act, the segregation of the core and non-core business functions of the PIA must be finished in two years of the portrayal of the law.

Only time will tell whether this was the right decision to take, however, we are always hopeful as Pakistanis for PIA to get back its glorious image and the crown of the ‘Best Airlines’ with the best pilots from around the world.

We wish the national carrier all the best for its future ventures, as it will always have a special place in the hearts of all Pakistanis!
