SRK and Kajol as Siblings? Director Mansoor Khan Reveals Josh Casting Twist You Didn’t Know

SRK and Kajol as Siblings_ Director Mansoor Khan Reveals Josh Casting Twist You Didn't Know
SRK and Kajol as Siblings_ Director Mansoor Khan Reveals Josh Casting Twist You Didn't Know

Bollywood has had its share of “what could have been” casting stories, but few are as jaw-dropping as this one. Director Mansoor Khan, in a recent revelation, confirmed that Kajol was originally approached to play Shah Rukh Khan’s sister in the 2000 film Josh. Yes, SRK and Kajol as siblings. It’s a casting twist that makes you sit up and go: “Wait, what?!”

Kajol as Shirley

In the history of Bollywood, SRK and Kajol are arguably the most iconic romantic pair. Back-to-back pairing in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, they were known as the OG couple. We are all victims of once thinking they were married in real life too. That is how good their chemistry was. And still is!

So, to imagine them playing twins? Siblings? It’s a cinematic crime.

However, during a recent interview, Mansoor Khan admitted that Kajol was his first choice to play Shirley in the movie Josh. But Kajol wasn’t convinced. Mansoor even revealed that Kajol was taken aback. “I narrated the script to Kajol because I wanted her to play the sister, after DDLJ, Baazigar, Karan Arjun and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. This is the ultimate sacrilege. After she heard the story idea, she got up to go out of my house. I asked her if she would do the film. She said no. She also wanted to play Max because it was such a charismatic character,” he revealed.

A Blessing in Disguise

Kajol’s departure from the film left the director scrambling, but perhaps all this was for the better.

Enter Aishwarya Rai, who ultimately took on the role of Shirley. At the time, it was a bold move. Casting Aishwarya was risky, especially because at that time she was still solidifying her position in Bollywood. Casting her alongside SRK had the chance of always being considered for sisterly roles.

Thankfully, that never happened, and soon after, we got the two sharing a romantic screen space in the blockbuster movie Mohabbatein.

Director Mansoor Khan also praised Aishwarya and said, “Aishwarya was very professional. She accepted the role without any hesitation. I think Josh is one of her best films.”

What If? The Kajol-SRK Sibling Timeline

Imagine this: Kajol as SRK’s twin sister in Josh, right after romancing with him on screen multiple times. The audience wouldn’t have digested this one.

Also, it’s not just about character suitability but about legacy, too.

Would their romantic image have survived playing siblings on screen? Would audiences have embraced that shift? Probably not. In this rare instance, the audience’s deep emotional investment in a fictional pairing might have limited the creative potential of the actors.

A Chain Reaction of Casting Shakeups

The casting shakeup didn’t end with Kajol. Mansoor Khan also considered Aamir Khan for the role of Rahul, Shirley’s love interest. However, there was a major casting mix up here and Amir accidentally misunderstood his role. The actor thought he was being cast for Max (the role already signed by SRK). Once Amir got to know this wasn’t the case, he backed out of the project.

In the end, SRK and Aishwarya Rai carried Josh to solid commercial success, and their platonic chemistry as siblings remains one of the film’s defining strengths.

Everything Happens for a Reason

This reveal isn’t just a fun twist. It’s also a reminder of how thin the line is between iconic and awkward.

Kajol saying no to Josh may have preserved one of Bollywood’s most beloved romantic duos. And Aishwarya’s turn as Shirley? It added a new, refreshing chapter to her filmography and to the sibling dynamics in Hindi cinema.

Millions in Hajj Funds Sent to Wrong Account

Millions in Hajj Funds Sent to Wrong Account
Millions in Hajj Funds Sent to Wrong Account

Around 67,000 Pakistanis may miss Hajj this year because Hajj funds were sent to the wrong account, a National Assembly committee was told on Wednesday. Several private Hajj Group Organisers (HGOs) failed to meet the Saudi deadline for submitting pilgrim details and payments due to a fund transfer error.

Members of the Hajj Organisers Association of Pakistan (HOAP) said 50 million Saudi riyals were wrongly deposited into an OPEC account. It took 28 days to recover the money, causing delays that prevented many pilgrims from being registered in time.

Secretary of Religious Affairs Dr. Atta ur Rehman explained that under new Saudi rules, only HGOs with more than 2,000 pilgrims are allowed to operate. Because of this, 904 smaller organisers were merged into 45 clusters. While 13,620 pilgrims who paid on time were accepted, the Saudi portal was only briefly reopened to accept 10,000 more. After that, no new entries were allowed. Some HGOs failed to transfer money in time due to a $300,000 limit on transactions.

Officials Questioned Over Mishandling

The committee asked tough questions about how the funds were sent to the wrong place. Chairman Malik Amir Dogar demanded a full explanation. DG Hajj Makkah Abdul Wahab admitted that a change in ministry instructions led to confusion about where to send the money.

He said the deadline passed while funds were still being processed. HOAP insisted there was still space for Pakistani pilgrims in Mina, but DG Wahab said he wasn’t aware of any open plots.

Many of the affected pilgrims may not be able to go this year. The Hajj funds sent to the wrong account have caused major problems, and officials now say refunds will only be possible for money transferred through the proper channels.

Some funds spent on accommodation and transport might not be recoverable. The committee has asked for a full breakdown of where the money is currently held.

Pakistan Begins Selection for First-Ever Manned Space Mission

Pakistan Begins Selection for First-Ever Manned Space Mission

Pakistan has started the selection process for its first-ever manned space mission, which is expected to take place aboard China’s Tiangong Space Station. This was confirmed on Wednesday by a spokesperson for the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).

In February, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced Pakistan’s plan to send a manned mission to space in partnership with China. Following this, earlier in April, Pakistan’s space agency Suparco invited proposals for innovative scientific experiments to be carried out aboard the Chinese space station. The aim is to maximise the scientific outcomes of this historic mission.

China’s space programme has seen rapid growth in recent years, achieving major milestones including the construction of the Tiangong space station and successful lunar sample-return missions.

Speaking to APP, CMSA spokesperson Lin Xiqiang explained that the selection of Pakistani astronauts would be done in three stages. The first stage will be held in Pakistan. The second and final stages will take place in China.

A Step Toward Developing the Space Technology Sector

Lin said, “The astronaut will be responsible for [conducting] scientific experiments on the behalf of Pakistan.” He also confirmed that the selected astronaut would join a joint space flight mission as a payload specialist.

On Tuesday, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing the space technology sector. He said, “Pakistan is giving utmost importance to the space technology sector,” and added that China is the country’s “most reliable and strategic partner.” He made these remarks while speaking to a delegation from Galaxy Space, a Chinese space technology company.

Two Pakistani astronauts will be selected and trained at the Astronaut Centre of China. This will make Pakistan the first foreign country to participate in China’s space station training programme. The entire selection process is expected to be completed by 2026.

Who’s Behind the Deadly Kashmir Attack? 26 Lives Lost in Pahalgam Horror

Who’s Behind the Deadly Kashmir Attack? 26 Lives Lost in Pahalgam Horror
Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have initiated a mass manhunt. Soldiers were deployed to man important checkpoints.

Indian officials have stepped up their hunt for gunmen after a vicious attack in Pahalgam, in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir attack. The attack killed 26 men and is one of the deadliest in the region in recent years.

Security Forces Mobilise to Track Down Attackers

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have initiated a mass manhunt. Soldiers were deployed to man important checkpoints, patrol weakly guarded routes, and carry out searches in nearby forests. The officials suspect the assailants took advantage of the landscape to make their escape.

Prime Minister Modi Condemns the Attack

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shortened his official trip to Saudi Arabia to head back home and tackle the crisis. In a public address, he decried the attack as a “heinous act” and reassured the country that the perpetrators “will be brought to justice.”

Kashmir Resistance Group Claims Responsibility

A relatively unknown militant organisation, Kashmir Resistance, took responsibility on a social media page. According to the organisation, the attack was a response to the increasing settlement of more than 85,000 “outsiders” in the valley. They claimed that this was an intentional act to change the demography of Kashmir.

Public Mourning and Candlelight Vigils

Across the region, citizens have organised candlelight vigils in honour of the victims. In towns and big cities, mourners congregated to express solidarity with the bereaved families. Protesters also took to the streets, calling for transparency and accountability by the authorities.

Heightened Tensions in the Region

The incident has once again tensed up the already volatile situation in Kashmir. Political activists and politicians are saying that unabated violence could derail initiatives towards peace in the region. A lot of voices have been demanding that the Indian government reconsider its strategy towards security and regional integration.

International Community Watches Closely

As the international spotlight shifted to Kashmir again, global commentators and human rights groups called for restraint and accountability. The horrific assault and what this means for the stability of the region have already raised the hackles of several foreign capitals.

Fans Devastated After Toblerone Announces Discontinuation of Chocolate Bar

Fans Devastated after Toblerone Announces Discontinuation of Chocolate Bar
Fans Devastated after Toblerone Announces Discontinuation of Chocolate Bar

It’s a sad day for chocolate lovers, possibly a day of mourning. In a move that has left many stunned, Toblerone has announced the discontinuation of one of its iconic chocolate bars in the UK.

The news has sparked an outpouring of disbelief and disappointment from fans who have cherished the triangular treat for generations.

A Sweet Legacy Comes to a Bittersweet End

For over a century, Toblerone has been a staple in the world of sweets. Recognisable by its unique triangular shape and packaging inspired by the Swiss Alps, the brand has built a loyal following since it was first created in 1908 by Theodor Tobler and Emil Baumann in Switzerland. The chocolate’s distinctive mix of milk chocolate, nougat, almonds, and honey has stood the test of time in UK — until now.

The specific bar being discontinued is the beloved Toblerone 360g dark chocolate bar, a best-seller that was once found in duty-free shops and supermarkets all over the UK. While the brand is not shutting down entirely, the decision to pull this particular size and version from production has hit a nerve among British fans.

Official Statement and Reasons Behind the Move

In a press release issued earlier this week, Mondelez International, the parent company of Toblerone, cited “changing market demands” and “logistical challenges” as reasons for discontinuing the 360g bar.

“We understand that this product has been a favourite among our consumers for many years,” the statement read. “This decision was not made lightly, but reflects a broader shift in how we manage our portfolio to meet evolving consumer trends and sustainability goals.”

While the company has pledged to continue producing other Toblerone variants, such as mini packs and milk white chocolate, fans argue that none hold the same nostalgia and convenience as the now-discontinued version.

Public Reaction: Outrage and Nostalgia

The announcement has prompted an emotional reaction on social media. Fans have taken to Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit to express their sorrow — and sometimes anger — at the decision.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one person wrote: ‘Hi, has dark chocolate Toblerone been discontinued in the UK, as unable to find it in shops or online? Thanks’

Another added: ‘Oh mate, it has to be the best dark chocolate I’ve had. And with Toblerone, you only need one or two pieces and you’re satisfied.’

Public Reaction: Outrage and Nostalgia
Public Reaction: Outrage and Nostalgia

Cultural and Emotional Impact

The outcry isn’t just about chocolate. Toblerone has long been associated with travel, celebration, and nostalgia. The bar’s international presence — particularly in airports — made it a symbol of thoughtful souvenirs and special moments. For many, it’s not just a treat; it’s a tradition.

“The emotional connection people have with Toblerone is very real,” says Dr. Lara Jenkins, a consumer psychologist based in London. “It represents more than just a product — it’s tied to memories, relationships, and identity.”

What’s Next for Toblerone?

Despite the backlash, Mondelez is doubling down on innovation and sustainability. The company has hinted at introducing new flavours and more eco-friendly packaging. They’ve also teased a digital campaign to connect with younger audiences and “reimagine the Toblerone experience.”

Still, for longtime fans, the loss of the dark chocolate bar is a hard one to swallow.

The Power a Chocolate Bar Holds

While the iconic peaks of the 360g Toblerone bar may no longer grace store shelves, the reaction from fans proves just how powerful a simple chocolate bar can be. Whether the outcry will be enough to bring it back remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Toblerone’s legacy — and the love people have for it — is anything but ordinary.

If you have a 360g bar tucked away in the back of a cupboard, you might want to hang on to it. It just became a collector’s item.

Hot or Not: Summer Fashion Trends to Start Trying Now

Hot or Not: Summer Fashion Trends to Start Trying Now
Hot or Not: Summer Fashion Trends to Start Trying Now

As we inch closer to summer 2025, summer fashion trends are feeling bolder, more playful and refreshingly personal. The post-minimalist wave is crashing hard, and this summer, we’re embracing bold moves, elevated textures and unapologetic individuality. And honestly, one can’t go wrong trying something creative (unless they are Blake Lively, of course).

So, for anyone still clinging to last season’s TikTok-core basics, it’s about time for a glow-up. Here’s a breakdown of what’s actually hot this summer and what should be buried in the back of the closet.

HOT: Sheer Everything (Yes, Everything)

Translucent fabrics are having a major moment. From flowy sheer maxi dresses to layered organza shirts, transparency is turning heads. Designers like Miu Miu and Coperni showcased ethereal, breathable looks on the runway—perfect for beating the heat while still looking like a total fashion goddess. The key is layering: sheer over structured, soft over sleek. It’s sexy without trying too hard.

Try this: Balance is key. Pair a sheer blouse with tailored trousers. It’s not about baring it all; it’s about revealing with intent.

Verdict: Hotter than a rooftop party in July.

Sheer Everything (Yes, Everything)
Sheer Everything (Yes, Everything)

NOT: Excessive Cut-Outs

Let’s be real: cut-outs had their time. From every influencer on Instagram to every celeb on the red carpet, skin has been on full display for the past few seasons. But in 2025, it’s starting to feel a bit overdone. Instead of a dress that’s 40% fabric and 60% gaping holes, opt for a more intentional design.

What to Try Instead:

  • Asymmetrical necklines
  • Open-back tops
  • Structured corsetry

Verdict: Cut it out. Literally. If you’re still reaching for that spaghetti-strap cut-out midi dress from 2023… maybe give it a break this summer.

HOT: Sunset Colour Palettes

This summer, it’s all about the hues of golden hour. Think terracotta oranges, dusty pinks, burnt sienna and muted yellows. These colours flatter almost every skin tone and instantly add warmth and sophistication to even the most casual outfits. Plus, they’re incredibly Instagrammable.

Pair it with: Earthy accessories—wooden bangles, jute bags, and natural fabrics to complement the warmth.

Sunset Color Palettes
Sunset Colour Palettes

NOT: Neon Overload

Neon is like that one friend who’s great in small doses but exhausting when they won’t stop talking. A flash of electric lime in your accessories? Cute. A full neon fit? Feels like a bad rave from 2010.

Fashion’s moving toward depth and nuance. Neons just scream too loudly for no reason. If you still love your neons, try incorporating them in smaller doses—like a pop of colour in your shoes or sunglasses.

Try Instead:

  • Colour pops through accessories
  • Softer, vibrant hues like cerulean or sunflower

Verdict: Not hot. Not even lukewarm. It’s loud, it’s hard to style, and frankly, it’s exhausting to look at.

HOT: Elevated Crochet

Crochet has graduated from grandma-core to runway-chic. But forget the predictable boho festival looks—this year’s crochet is refined, sculptural and elegant. Designers are playing with silhouettes, colour blocking, and structure in ways we haven’t seen before, like architectural tops, bold two-piece sets and statement accessories.

Read More: 10 Fashion Trends that will be Everywhere in 2025

Styling Tip: Look for structured crochet sets, midi dresses with cut-in shoulders, or bold-coloured crochet bags that feel fresh and modern.

Verdict: Grandma fashion is the new IT-girl fashion, and every Gen-Z will agree to this.

Elevated Crochet
Elevated Crochet

NOT: Micro-Mini Skirts

Practicality is winning in 2025. Sure, legs are great—but does every skirt need to end just south of your hip bone? The micro-mini trend had its viral moment, but let’s be honest: most of us are just adjusting our hemline all day and praying the wind behaves.

The micro-mini has been dethroned by longer hemlines like midi and maxi skirts, especially in flowy fabrics. They’re easier to style, more versatile, and honestly, a whole lot more comfortable when temps start soaring.

Try Instead:

  • A-line midi skirts
  • Flowy maxis with leg slits or asymmetrical hems

Verdict: It is a sign that we are in a recession now that modest, elegant fashion is making a comeback. And are we complaining? No, absolutely not. Long live long skirts!

HOT: Techwear Goes Chic

This isn’t some dystopian cyberpunk cosplay, techwear is finally stylish. Smart sunglasses with built-in audio, UV-sensing jewelry, elevated athleisure and solar-powered handbags are just the beginning. As sustainability and innovation continue to collide, fashion is turning to futuristic function with major style points. Function meets fashion, and it’s everything.

Styling Tip: Minimalist makeup, geometric sunglasses, and a smug “I’m literally charging my phone with my bag” attitude.

Verdict: Fashion is comfortable and futuristic now, and we are all in for it.

Techwear Goes Chic
Techwear Goes Chic

NOT: Fast Fashion Clones

In 2025, individuality is the real luxury. People are turning away from cookie-cutter outfits from mass retailers and instead embracing personal style, slow fashion, and vintage gems. Thrifting, upcycling, and investing in quality over quantity are not just trendy—they’re necessary.

Try Instead:

  • Thrifted treasures
  • Small-batch or indie designer pieces
  • Custom tailoring

Verdict: Fashion is no longer just about trends—it’s about values. The “what” you wear is becoming just as important as the “why.”

HOT: Utility, but Make it Sexy

Cargo pants are no longer a punchline. This summer, utility wear is sharp, structured, and surprisingly sultry. Think cargo pants with a couture twist, utility vests over silky dresses, and belted shirt-dresses with oversized pockets. It’s confident, it’s cool, and it’s incredibly wearable. It’s giving “spy meets streetwear,” and we’re obsessed.

Styling Tip: Sleek sandals, a cinched waist and most unbothered energy.

Verdict: Street style and motorbike fashion were always chic, we just realised it too late.

Utility, But Make It Sexy
Utility, But Make It Sexy

Trends Don’t Matter if They’re Not You

Yes, we love watching trends evolve—but let’s not forget: personal style > viral trend every single time. Fashion in 2025 is about expressing something, not copying everything. Use this guide as inspiration, but wear what makes you feel like your boldest self. Confidence has been hot ever since, and it always will be.

Addams Family’s darkest daughter returns. Wednesday S2 is officially confirmed to be released in 2025 on Netflix, filming now complete, and a teaser is imminent. The gothic drama, which has become a hit since its premiere, has been top of the must-see list for months now, with speculation building. Now fans have something concrete to look forward to.

Filming Complete, Teaser on the Horizon

Season 2 filming kicked off early in 2024 in Ireland. In spite of Ortega’s hectic schedule, production continued as planned and was wrapped up by December 4, 2024. On the same date, Netflix officially announced that Season 2 will be released in 2025. A teaser drop is anticipated on April 23rd, with a moody Wednesday sporting Thing on her shoulder. Streaming Rights Remain with Netflix

For a moment, there was panic among fans, thinking of a platform switch. When Amazon Prime signed a huge deal with MGM, everyone speculated if Wednesday would leave Netflix. Fortunately, that was short-lived—Netflix is still the home of the Addams universe.

Jenna Ortega is not only acting—she’s also a producer now. Her artistic input will guide the new direction of the show. Cast members returning include Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Isaac Ordonez. And that’s not all—Steve Buscemi is the new Nevermore principal, and pop star Lady Gaga will guest star in a surprise role.

Certain Season 1 characters will not be coming back, including Percy Hynes White, but fresh faces like Bruno, Karloff, Wolfgang, and Annie will stir the pot.

Season 2: More Horror, Less Romance

Ortega has announced that Season 2 will be darker and more horror- and suspense-oriented than teen romance. There’ll be more action, richer emotional layers, and more investigation of other characters—particularly Morticia. The showrunners want to expand Nevermore Academy’s world based on the creepy charm that propelled the first season to success.

What to Expect

The storyline is kept secret, but the major plot points are Wednesday’s enigmatic stalker, Tyler’s potential comeback in Hyde avatar, and telenovela-style plot twists at Nevermore with a new principal.

Wednesday Season 2 is a must-watch for fans of gothic drama and supernatural thrillers alike, as the show promises even more intensity, even more mystery, and even darker entertainment.

The wait was torture—but the comeback is imminent.

“I Regret Playing Cricket,” Former Cricketer Muhammad Azhar Expresses Disappointment

Mohammad Azhar, India’s most legendary captain, stunned fans with a candid declaration—he wishes he never played cricket. His comments stem not from recent defeats, but from decades of neglect.

Stadium Snub Sparks Outrage

The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) recently instructed the name of Azharuddin from the North Stand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium be removed. The action accused him of utilising his role as HCA president to have the stand named in his honour.

“I Regret Playing Cricket,” Former Cricketer Muhammad Azhar Expresses Disappointment
“I Regret Playing Cricket,” Former Cricketer Muhammad Azhar Expresses Disappointment

Azhar termed the action “heartbreaking.” He said it’s an embarrassment to the sport and a personal slight. “I gave my life to cricket. This is how they thank me?” he questioned.

Corruption Claims and Election Ban

Azharuddin led the HCA from 2019 to 2023. During that time, he raised concerns about corruption inside the association. He now believes those actions got him banned from contesting future HCA elections.

“I complained about misconduct, and they closed the door on me,” he said. He intends to sue. He also wants the BCCI to intervene. “This battle isn’t for me. It’s for the game,” he said.

More Signs of Mismanagement

The latest squabble between the Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL team and the HCA on ticketing illustrates further fissures in the system. Azhar asserts it’s part of an underlying issue. He feels there is poor leadership destroying the game’s image in Hyderabad.

“This is not merely a question of one man or one stand. It’s how cricket is being managed,” he cautioned.

A Legacy Under Pressure

Azharuddin played 99 Tests and 334 ODIs for India. He was famous for his elegant batting and incisive captaincy. But controversy also dogged his career. In 2000, he was banned on charges of match-fixing. The court subsequently reversed the ban in 2012.

Undeterred, he came back to cricket administration and attempted to sanitise the system. But the system, it appears, did not want him back.

A Plea for Respect and Reform

Azhar’s tale is greater than a tragedy of an individual. It’s a reminder of how sporting associations treat their legends. His sorrow isn’t over runs or wickets—it’s over how he was overlooked.

“I don’t look for rewards. But respect? That’s not too much to ask,” he said.

Authorities Block Imran Khan’s Sisters and Lawyers from Visiting Him in Jail

Authorities Block Imran Khan’s Sisters and Lawyers from Visiting Him in Jail
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari denied reports that police had taken Imran Khan's sisters into custody.

On a scheduled visitation day, authorities barred PTI founder Imran Khan’s sisters, his lawyers, and close personal friends from entering Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

Police Block Visitation at Multiple Checkpoints

Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, had anticipated lawyers and family members visiting them on the day set for a meeting. Law enforcement officers, however, intercepted guests at Gorakhpur and Dahgal checkpoints from entering the prison.

Police at the Gorakhpur checkpoint halted Bushra Bibi’s focal person, Mubashir Maqsood Awan, sister-in-law Mehr-un-Nisa, and Barrister Rae Salman Kharl, who had travelled to visit her.

In a similar vein, PTI legal representatives Chaudhry Zaheer Abbas, Usman Gul, and PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja were detained at the Dahgal checkpoint before reaching the prison.

Prominent Lawyers Denied Access to Former PM

Two other legal persons, Advocates Sameer Khosa and Tabish Farooq, were also denied entry at the Gorakhpur barrier. This combined denial created concerns about legal access to the jailed political leader, particularly on a day set aside for legal and family visitation.

PTI Supporters and Sisters Stage Peaceful Protest

Meanwhile, in another development, 11 PTI workers, including sisters of Imran Khan, voluntarily turned themselves in and peacefully demonstrated by sitting on the lawn outside a local wedding venue. Among those who took part in the sit-in were noted PTI figures like Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Aliya Hamza, Shafqat Awan, Niazullah Niazi, Raja Yasir Hasnain, and Hamid Khan, who came to join the demonstration in solidarity with Khan’s family.

Punjab Government Denies Arrest Claims

Rejecting reports by the media, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari denied reports that police had taken Imran Khan’s sisters into custody. She said Aleema Khan and other family members had merely taken a ride-hailing service to the location.

Bukhari said that the family boarded a police van willingly and got down afterwards at Khawaja Service Station. She continued to term the incident as a “political performance” to gain public sympathy for the PTI founder.

Public Outcry Grows Amid Access Restrictions

The refusal to grant access to legal representatives and family members has raised public outcry. There have been questions raised as to whether the actions represent a larger effort to isolate the former prime minister and limit his legal rights.

As events unfold, PTI supporters remain in demand of transparency and equal treatment for Imran Khan, who is still incarcerated on multiple legal charges.

With political relations between India and Pakistan being strained, any sporting crossover must be approved by the government. Arshad’s presence is uncertain for now, although the invitation is sincere and open.

The two javelin stars last met on the track when Arshad shocked the athletics fraternity with a record 92.97m throw at the Paris Olympics, surpassing Neeraj’s season’s best of 89.45m. A rematch on home ground would be banner news.

Neeraj’s Big Dream for Indian Athletics

Having an event named after him is a big moment for Neeraj. Inspired by his coach, the great Jan Zelezny, Neeraj hopes the Neeraj Chopra Classic becomes an annual highlight.

“It feels surreal,” he said. “This is my way of giving back to Indian athletics. I’ve won medals, but this event will enable local talent to compete against the world’s best. That’s how we grow.”

The long-term plan is to introduce more disciplines to the competition. For the moment, however, the emphasis is on generating excitement around javelin—something Neeraj has done single-handedly in a cricket-crazy country.

Diamond League in India Next?

Neeraj isn’t content with just one event. He wants to introduce a Diamond League meet to India as well. “We have world-class stadiums and increasing fan interest,” he said. “World Athletics knows this. I think it’s possible.”

For a nation where sport seems to play second fiddle at best, Neeraj’s perseverance is breaking new ground. Regardless of Arshad becoming a part of the party or not, the Bengaluru tournament is already one gigantic step ahead.

What does HBL PSL Need to Compete Globally? Salman Ali Agha Reveals

What does HBL PSL Need to Compete Globally? Salman Ali Agha Reveals

The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) always produces suspenseful cricket, but how does it move itself up to rank with the globe’s top-tier T20 competitions? Pakistan T20 captain Salman Ali Agha recently gave a clear point of view and highlighted an extremely important factor, all too often overpowered by all the talk regarding foreign recruits: local heroes built.

The Impact of Local Players

In an interview, Agha maintained that the PSL’s long-term development and longevity depend mostly on Pakistani players coming forward to emerge as true match-winners and superstars. “No league can develop without local players stepping up,” Agha firmly asserted. He highlighted the natural contradiction in having foreign players coming in year in and year out, reiterating that “it’s the local players who really take a league to a different level.”

Comparing with the most successful T20 leagues in the world, Agha said, “In the top five leagues, their local players have a huge role. So if we step up, this league can grow.” His vision indicates that although bringing international names on board is helpful, the underlying sense of identity and long-term appeal of the PSL must be based around homegrown talent that can propel teams and attract crowds on a regular basis. The dependency has to turn from short-term foreign firepower to developing Pakistani players who become local names and the league’s greatest attraction.

Nurturing Home Talent

Agha is convinced that emphasis has to be placed on nurturing this home pool of talent so that players have the ability to acquire the skill and consistency to excel on the PSL stage and beyond. His own career, climbing through the ranks through committed work on his game developed in domestic cricket, gives credibility to his point. He calls for a system that delivers players who can withstand pressure and deliver consistently, to be the foundation upon which the league’s international reputation can be firmly built.

In the end, it’s not all about massive contracts or more high-profile signings that’ll make PSL grow. It’s about investing in, developing, and marketing Pakistan’s own players so that they eventually become the undisputed superstars who make the league a global power in its own right.

The Prince Who Never Woke Up: The Tragic Vigil for Prince Al Waleed bin Khaled

The Prince Who Never Woke Up: The Tragic Vigil for Prince Al Waleed bin Khaled
The Prince Who Never Woke Up: The Tragic Vigil for Prince Al Waleed bin Khaled

In the luxurious sphere of Saudi royals, one tale stands for its lasting pathos and uncompromising hope: that of Prince Al Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, usually called the “sleeping prince.” For close to two decades, since his horrific car accident in London in 2005, the prince has been unconscious, poised precariously on the edge of life and death, while his relatives hold unwavering watch by his hospital bedside.

Prince Al Waleed, an 18-year-old military science student, suffered a critical brain haemorrhage in an accident. Since then, he has been under constant medical supervision, initially in a Riyadh hospital and now at home on life support. His mother, Princess Mona Riad El Solh (daughter of Lebanon’s first post-independence prime minister), and father, Prince Khaled bin Talal (brother of well-known billionaire investor Prince Al Waleed bin Talal), have not abandoned hope of his recovery.

A Tale of Hope

The family, in spite of the amazingly prolonged nature of the coma, has also been steadfast, with Prince Khaled having been quoted as resisting recommendations to halt life support. Their optimism has occasionally been lifted by reported as faint moments – the twitch of a hand, a head turn – recorded on film and posted to social media, generating fresh interest and prayer. One of those moments was seen in 2020 when his aunt, Princess Noura bint Talal, posted a video which seemed to reveal him moving his fingers on request. While the medical significance of such movements remains debated, they fuel the family’s faith.

The prince’s situation highlights the immense resources available to the Saudi royal family, allowing for prolonged, state-of-the-art care that would be unimaginable for most. His room resembles an intensive care unit, staffed around the clock. But beyond the riches, the tale is a deeply human one – a story of parental devotion, unshakeable commitment in the face of impossible odds, and the heart-wrenching fact of a young life cut short in tragedy. As the years become decades, the “sleeping prince” is still a reminder of both abiding hope and the vulnerability of life, his silent form a constant reminder of the accident that transformed all.

Elon Musk to Step Back from DOGE Role Starting May

Elon Musk to Step Back from DOGE Role Starting May

Elon Musk has announced that from May, he will drastically cut back the time he spends on the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), opting instead to focus more on Tesla. The decision comes at a time when Tesla is experiencing drastic financial losses and increasing public backlash.

Weekly Contributions to Shrink

During Tesla’s recent earnings call, Elon Musk shared that his involvement with DOGE, a federal cost-cutting task force, will decline sharply next month. He clarified that although he will maintain a presence, his weekly contribution will shrink to just one or two days.

“Starting next month, I’ll be dedicating far more time to Tesla,” Musk stated on the call.

DOGE, instituted by the Trump administration to eliminate government inefficiency and waste, has been universally criticised for its contentious actions, including the elimination of vital programs and the supposed misuse of voter information.

Political Ties Hurt Tesla’s Image and Sales

Tesla’s brand has also become politicised because Musk has been a close ally of the Trump administration. Therefore, some buyers now identify Tesla with political ideology, and this has resulted in declining sales and a negative public perception.

Since last December, Tesla’s shares have fallen more than 50%, despite an initial lift after Musk’s advisory stint with the administration. Investors believed his government role would be good for the company, but the outcome has been the opposite.

Tesla Reports Disappointing Q1 Earnings

Tesla’s first-quarter results fell short of analyst estimates by a wide margin. Revenue declined 9%, and profit declined an astonishing 71%.

Despite this disappointment, the stock staged a modest 4% recovery to $247.53 after Musk vowed to step back from DOGE. Despite this recovery, experts warn that Tesla’s problems go beyond political allegiances.

Analysts Say Brand Damage May Be Long-Term

Market experts think that Musk’s diminished involvement in DOGE can’t fix Tesla’s tarnished image overnight. Adam Crisafulli of Vital Knowledge said that Musk’s brand has been badly damaged and that merely walking away from a political role may not be enough to restore investors’ confidence.

“Musk’s brand has been forever damaged by recent political action,” Crisafulli said in a research note.

Tesla Faces Fierce Competition and Global Trade Challenges

Aside from internal issues, Tesla is also losing its leadership in the EV market. Traditional automakers such as Ford and upstart European brands now have electric vehicles with similar and sometimes better technology.

Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD recently launched a rapid-charging system that can charge a car to full in minutes, putting more pressure on Tesla’s innovation advantage.

At the same time, Tesla’s Chinese operations experienced further setbacks. As a result of trade tensions, the company suspended orders for its Model S and Model X from mainland buyers. Tesla still manufactures the Model Y and Model 3 in Shanghai, but Chinese tariffs could affect future sales.

Critical Turning Point for Tesla

Elon Musk’s move to lighten his workload at the government is a defining moment for Tesla. As the firm struggles to regain its footing against market rivalry, political indignation, and global trade disagreements, Musk’s newfound concentration can redirect Tesla on track.

Then again, trusting the company anew, investors and consumers alike, might be more than just responding to a mere shifting of emphasis.

Abrar Ahmed Bids Farewell to His Signature Celebration

abrar-ahmed-bids-farewell-to-his-signature-celebration

In a heartfelt move that shows maturity beyond the cricket field, Pakistan’s mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed has decided to retire his famous head-shaking celebration. Yes, that celebration—the one that made headlines, went viral on social media, and became part of his on-field identity.

Abrar’s unique celebration caught attention when he began using it in the previous PSL and later during a tour of South Africa. Most fans loved the swagger. It was quirky, fun, and very “Abrar.”

But then came the Champions Trophy clash against India.

After dismissing Shubman Gill, Abrar gave him the headshake and gestured toward the pavilion. What was meant to be playful quickly turned controversial. The moment blew up online, with critics calling the move unsportsmanlike.

In an exclusive chat with a local news channel, Abrar opened up: “I started this celebration in the previous PSL and continued it in South Africa without any issues.”

“But during the India match in the Champions Trophy, it became a bigger deal. I never intended to offend anyone, so I’ve decided to move on from it.”

At just 26, Abrar Ahmed is already one of the most exciting spinners in Pakistan’s cricket setup. And his decision to step away from the celebration shows that he’s thinking long-term—not just about the game, but also his image and impact.

“I value sportsmanship. I don’t want my actions to hurt anyone’s sentiments,” he said.

Now playing for Quetta Gladiators in PSL 10, Abrar has been in solid form. He’s the joint sixth-highest wicket-taker in the tournament so far, with seven wickets in just three games.

He’s working hard to improve his game—especially his control in the middle and death overs. He also has an eye on another goal: becoming Pakistan’s go-to bowler in all three formats.

“I’m working on my fitness and will also focus on improving my batting over the next six months,” Abrar shared.

Abrar also praised the atmosphere in the Gladiators’ camp. The team hasn’t had the smoothest start—they’re currently fifth on the points table with one win and two losses.

“Our squad is strong—just one win can change our momentum. Having a legend like Viv Richards motivate us is invaluable.”

Quetta’s next challenge comes against Karachi Kings on April 25 at Gaddafi Stadium. All eyes will be on Abrar—not for his celebration this time, but for his impact with the ball.

Islamabad United Name Replacement For Rassie van der Dussen, Matthew Short

psl-10-player-draft-to-take-place-on-january-11-franchises-oppose-psl-10-2025-clash-with-ipl-islamabad-united

Islamabad United have just made a bold move—and it’s one that could shape the rest of their PSL 10 campaign.

The defending champions have roped in West Indies all-rounder Kyle Mayers as a replacement for Rassie van der Dussen and Matthew Short, both of whom have been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament.

Rassie van der Dussen’s withdrawal comes due to personal reasons. While the franchise didn’t go into the details (as they shouldn’t), head coach Mike Hesson was quick to stand by the South African batter.

Read More: Is Mike Hesson the Man to Fix Pakistan Cricket’s Coaching Carousel?

“We stand firmly with Rassie and his family. He’s going through a tough phase, and cricket comes second at such times.”

That kind of support speaks volumes. In a tournament this intense, it’s refreshing to see the human side of the game still shine through.

Now, let’s talk about the man stepping in. Kyle Mayers isn’t just a last-minute fill-in—he’s a proven match-winner. Whether it’s smashing quick runs at the top or delivering breakthroughs with the ball, Mayers is the kind of player who brings impact.

And that’s exactly what Islamabad need as they push for a record fourth PSL title.

Mike Hesson seems confident about the new signing: “We’ve played some great cricket so far, but we’re not taking any chances. Mayers has consistently delivered in the T20 format, and his inclusion will definitely add depth and balance to our squad.”

Rehan Ul Haq, United’s team manager, was equally optimistic: “Kyle Mayers is a great fit for Islamabad United. We’re focused on winning PSL 10, and his presence will further boost our chances.”

Two Pakistanis Caught Using Fake Licences For Saudi Work Visas

Two Pakistanis Caught Using Fake Licences For Saudi Work Visas

Two Pakistanis were caught using fake licences to travel to Saudi Arabia by immigration officials. Shehbaz and Umar were leaving for Saudi Arabia on work visas categorised for drivers. However, during routine checks, officials found that their driving licences were fake.

Immigration officials said the licences appeared to be issued by the Clifton licensing branch. However, further checks confirmed that neither Shehbaz nor Umar had visited the office or completed the official licensing process. Investigations revealed they had acquired the fake licences through an agent, paying between Rs600,000 and Rs750,000.

Even though both men had genuine protector stamps on their work visas, the fake documents resulted in their arrest. Authorities handed them over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle for further investigation.

In a separate case, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested a 10-member group of beggars at Karachi Airport. They were trying to travel to Saudi Arabia while pretending to be Umrah pilgrims.

The group included seven women. During questioning, immigration officials realised the individuals could not answer simple questions related to Umrah rituals. This raised suspicion, and officials found that their real intention was to beg in Saudi Arabia.

The FIA also reported that the group did not have hotel bookings or enough funds to support themselves during the trip. Because of this, officials confirmed they were not genuine pilgrims but instead part of a human trafficking attempt.

The FIA transferred all 10 members to the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell for legal action and further investigation.

These incidents reflect growing concerns about illegal travel methods and the use of fake documents, especially for foreign employment or deceptive purposes like begging. Immigration and FIA officials continue to take steps to stop such activities and ensure only legitimate travellers leave the country.

Jealous Lover, Woman Kill Ex-Boyfriend in Karachi

Jealous Lover, Woman Kill Ex-Boyfriend in Karachi

A shocking case unfolded in Karachi’s Shah Latif Town where a woman killed her ex-boyfriend with the help of her current lover.

According to police, the case was solved in just 72 hours after a tortured body was found stuffed in a suitcase. The body was later identified as Asif, a bus conductor.

Police said the woman, named Aliza and her current lover, a security guard named Mola Bux, were behind the murder. Aliza had met Asif four months ago on a bus headed to Ranipur, where Asif worked as a conductor. He had visited her two to three times in Karachi.

Meanwhile, Aliza’s husband, also a security guard, used to work with Mola Bux. A month ago, Mola Bux visited Aliza’s home and started a relationship with her. When he found out about her past with Asif, he became jealous and decided to eliminate him.

Police said Mola Bux called Asif and invited him to Aliza’s house. When Asif arrived, Aliza kept him distracted while Mola Bux hid in another room, wearing gloves. He then attacked Asif with a hammer, hitting him several times on the head.

Aliza helped him by using her dupatta to strangle Asif. She tore the dupatta into two pieces to make it tighter around his neck.

The two then hired a rickshaw for Rs300, put the body in a suitcase and dumped it near a forested area in Sector 21.

Police used advanced technology to solve what they called a blind and complicated case. Within three days, they were able to identify and arrest the suspects.

Rajasthan Royals Hit Back at Match-Fixing Claims

rajasthan-royals-hit-back-at-match-fixing-claims

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is no stranger to high-stakes drama, but this week, the fireworks spilled off the field too. Following Rajasthan Royals’ nail-biting two-run loss to Lucknow Super Giants, the franchise has found itself at the centre of an unexpected storm.

And this time, it’s not about a dropped catch or a controversial decision. It’s about match-fixing allegations—and the Royals are not taking them lightly.

A Loss That Sparked a Fire

Let’s rewind a bit. Match 36 of IPL 2025 was a proper edge-of-the-seat thriller. Rajasthan, chasing 181, seemed to be cruising at one stage. But a late collapse saw them fall just two runs short, handing LSG a dramatic win.

Now, cricket is a game of uncertainties. Ups and downs happen. But apparently, the Royals’ loss didn’t sit well with everyone.

Enter Jaydeep Bihani, a senior official from the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA). After the game, he publicly hinted at something far more serious—match-fixing. He went on record questioning whether the loss was genuine or a case of deliberate underperformance.

Rajasthan Royals Respond: “Baseless and Harmful”

The response from Rajasthan Royals was swift and strong. In a statement carried by Indian media, the franchise categorically denied all the claims, calling them “false, baseless and completely unfounded.”

And they didn’t stop there.

“These kinds of accusations don’t just target us,” a Royals’ spokesperson said. “They damage the reputation of the BCCI, the Rajasthan Sports Council, and even the game of cricket itself.”

The franchise expressed serious concern about the impact such reckless remarks can have—not only on their image but on their players’ morale and the trust of millions of fans.

The Royals are now taking official steps. They’ve lodged a formal complaint with the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, along with the sports minister and sports secretary, urging immediate action against Bihani for what they’ve described as “irresponsible and defamatory” statements.

And honestly, they have a point. In a tournament as massive and competitive as the IPL, throwing around match-fixing claims without evidence is a huge deal. It casts an unnecessary shadow over an otherwise thrilling season.

Over 100,000 Afghans have Left Pakistan in April

Over 100,000 Afghans have Left Pakistan in April

Over 100,000 Afghans have left Pakistan in the last three weeks, Pakistan’s interior ministry confirmed on Tuesday. This follows the cancellation of residence permits as part of a broader campaign to remove illegal foreigners. The drive began in 2023, targetting undocumented Afghans without identity papers.

Analysts believe the deportations are politically motivated to pressure Afghanistan’s Taliban leadership, which Pakistan accuses of sheltering terrorists responsible for cross-border attacks. The ministry told AFP that 100,529 Afghans left Pakistan in April alone.

Thousands of Afghan families have crossed into Afghanistan since the April deadline for voluntary exit expired. The situation has created a sense of panic among long-term Afghan residents in Pakistan. “I was born in Pakistan and have never seen Afghanistan,” said 27-year-old Allah Rahman at the Torkham border. “I left only out of fear and helplessness.”

Afghanistan’s Prime Minister Hasan Akhund condemned Pakistan’s actions, calling them “unilateral measures” and appealed for the dignified return of refugees during a meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Kabul.

Although many Afghans are leaving voluntarily, fearing arrest, the UNHCR said April saw more detentions in Pakistan—12,948—than the entire previous year.

Pakistan continues to face security challenges along its border, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where terrorism is on the rise. Officials allege Afghan nationals are involved in several attacks and accuse Kabul of giving terrorists safe haven, which the Taliban denies.

Millions of Afghans have sought refuge in Pakistan over decades of conflict. However, public sentiment is shifting. “They took our jobs and opened businesses,” said a local barber, Tanveer Ahmad, expressing support for the deportation drive.

UNHCR also raised concern that more than half of those deported are children. Women and girls returning to Taliban-ruled Afghanistan face restrictions on education and employment.

In the first phase in 2023, hundreds of thousands of undocumented Afghans were deported over a few weeks.
