It’s that time of year again—Ramadan has started, and everyone wants to know how to stay fit without getting exhausted. We know it is incredibly hard, given that our Iftar tables are filled with fried foods, but with a little positive attitude and determination, your body will thank you the entire month.
Here is how you can fast while working out and stay fit the smart way.
Important Tips for Working Out in Ramadhan
If you want to stay fit, you’ll have to work out; it’s the ultimate cheat code; like it or not. Here are some important tips that will make the workout process easier for everyone (yes even the lazy ones!)
Do strength training in the day, but keep the cardio for post iftar. Limit the cardio to twice a week too
Train at a lower intensity during Ramadan or try brisk walking.
Break your fast with light food such as coconut water and dates
Drink plenty of water (at least 8 glasses) between Iftar and Suhoor.
Go for a 30-minute daily walk to support your muscles, joints and overall physical fitness.
Disclaimer: Be realistic though! It is ok if you can’t work out with the same intensity as before. Just focus on consistency and your internal health rather than the aesthetics.
Planning an Exercise Routine
If you are struggling to plan an exercise routine, we would suggest that you opt for pre-suhoor or post iftar timings. You can try waking up in the first half of the night, and do cardio and workout before having your suhoor.
You can also go for the post Iftaar option, but remember that you might not be able to work out as effectively due to fasting the whole day. In such a case, opt for low intensity exercises like squats, lunges, push-ups, planks and burpees.
Now, I will actually advise you to skip your usual weightlifting and instead do more easygoing exercise. Here are some exercises you can do without compromising your health in any way:
Cardio Exercises
Strength Exercises
Yoga and Stretching
High-Intensity Interval Training
Other Activities You Can Do To Stay Fit
Apart from the typical workouts, you can also go for other activities that will not only keep you physically fit but also mentally present. Here are some suggestions for that:
Swimming
Light Jogging
Yoga
Paddle
Cricket
Cycling
What to Include and Avoid in Your Diet
Try opting for fruits with natural sugars so that your body gets nutritional water. We would suggest that you add a palate filled with carbs and eat meals like whole grain rice, quinoa, beans, lentils and sweet potatoes. On the other hand, avoid eating added refined sugars, salty food and fried food (yes, the polar opposite to what we are used to).
To conclude, let me remind you that it’s ok to struggle. Rest easy, play around with your training times and training styles and you will find what works for you.
Wishing you a blessed and healthy month ahead!

“The DP World Beyond Boundaries Initiative aligns with our vision of strengthening grassroots cricket in Pakistan.
Karachi, Pakistan – 03 March 2025: Global logistics provider DP World has continued to deliver the Beyond Boundaries Initiative by unveiling a repurposed shipping container to local beneficiaries at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
Legendary Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram helped launch the eleventh container on the eve of the ICC Champions Trophy semi-finals alongside Junaid Zamir, Chief Executive Officer of DP World’s Qasim International Container Terminal, and Nadeem Khan, Academies Director at the Pakistan Cricket Board, by distributing cricket kits to beneficiaries from several academies. The repurposed container, with an in-built changing room and scoreboard, will be permanently based at National Bank Stadium in Karachi, providing much needed facilities to the communities that utilise the grounds for training and matches.
Junaid Zamir said: “DP World is delighted to bring the Beyond Boundaries Initiative to Pakistan, a country with a deep passion for cricket, amidst the backdrop of the ICC Champions Trophy – the first ICC event held in the region since 1996. We are delighted to work with both our partner, the ICC, as well as the Pakistan Cricket Board, to make a meaningful difference to communities where the cricket kits and container will have a big impact. From supporting the ICC by delivering broadcast equipment for television coverage of the tournament, through to the movement of this container to Pakistan for the launch of this initiative, our global logistics solutions are helping to bring the game to every level.”
Through the latest stop on the initiative’s journey, DP World has now delivered 2,750 cricket kits to grassroots clubs across seven countries, continuing to fulfil a promise that has seen DP World pledge ten cricket kits for every 100 runs scored in ICC tournaments.
Wasim Akram added: “Pakistan is a cricketing nation with a proud history, producing players that have thrilled audiences worldwide. However, with the kit and equipment needed to access the sport, it can be expensive and ultimately prohibitive to the potential superstars of tomorrow. I know first-hand the importance of owning high quality cricket kits, that you can call your own, so I look forward to seeing how this initiative will benefit young players across this country and beyond”.
The repurposed container unveiled today has been delivered by DP World’s end-to-end logistics capabilities. Produced in Dubai, the container embarked on a three-day journey of more than 1,000km’s, through DP World’s Jebel Ali hub before arriving at Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT) in Karachi. From there, the container was moved by a DP World flatbed truck to the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
Each container is adorned with a unique mural designed by a local artist, reflecting the community that the facility will serve, with the Karachi-born Ibrahim Gailani producing the artwork for the Karachi container.
Anurag Dahiya, Chief Commercial Officer at International Cricket Council, said: “As this thrilling ICC Champions Trophy reaches its climax, we are delighted to see DP World extend its support for grassroots talent to Pakistan. Having witnessed firsthand the initiative’s impact globally, we welcomed the opportunity to connect DP World with our colleagues at the Pakistan Cricket Board to identify beneficiaries that need the support the most, helping to grow the game for everyone”.
Sumair Ahmad Syed, Chief Operating Officer, PCB and ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Tournament Director, said: “The DP World Beyond Boundaries Initiative aligns with our vision of strengthening grassroots cricket in Pakistan. By expanding access to quality equipment and resources, it will support young cricketers in refining their skills and progressing through the ranks. At the Pakistan Cricket Board, we are committed to developing future talent, and initiatives like these play a valuable role in inspiring and enabling the next generation. We appreciate DP World’s commitment to the sport and its efforts to make a lasting impact at the grassroots level”.
Throughout the ICC Champions Trophy, DP World has continued the kits-for-runs programme that has been present at other ICC tournaments since 2023. So far in this year’s tournament, DP World has pledged over 400 cricket kits to grassroots cricket communities.
Adidas has sold its last remaining pair of Yeezy sneakers, marking the end of its stock liquidation process. The sportswear brand had been clearing its Yeezy inventory since May 2023, after ending its partnership with rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, in October 2022. The collaboration was terminated following Ye’s public anti-Semitic remarks, which impacted Adidas’ revenue and led to an annual loss in 2023.
The loss of Yeezy sales was felt most in the United States, where the brand was highly popular. Adidas reported that its North America sales fell by 2% in 2024, attributing the decline solely to lower Yeezy sales. Despite this, Adidas managed to generate €650 million ($696 million) from Yeezy sneaker sales in 2023, making a €200 million profit. This was lower than the previous year’s earnings of €750 million in revenue and €300 million in operating profit.
The company has pledged to donate part of its Yeezy proceeds to organisations fighting anti-Semitism, including the Anti-Defamation League. Adidas has set aside €260 million for charitable donations, with €200 million held in a foundation and €60 million already distributed. CEO Bjorn Gulden confirmed these details during a press conference, emphasising the company’s commitment to moving forward.

Prada’s CEO indicated on Tuesday that the Italian fashion group was at least looking at potential mergers and acquisitions, following reports linking them with possible deals for fellow luxury brands Versace and Jimmy Choo.
Speaking after Prada, which has defied a slowdown in luxury demand to outperform many of its peers, reported a widely expected 21% increase in operating profit last year. Andrea Guerra gave no details of potential tie-ups but suggested it was open to opportunities.
“On one side we are focused on our brands. On the other side … when things come around, you’ll look at them,” Guerra said, when asked about the group’s investment strategy on a post-earnings call. A source told Reuters last month that Prada, controlled by designer Miuccia Prada and her husband Patrizio Bertelli, has been given access to Versace’s financial data.
Bloomberg News reported on Sunday that Prada was moving closer to a deal after agreeing a price of nearly 1.5 billion euros ($1.6 billion) for the business founded by the late Gianni Versace in the 1970s, where his sister Donatella has been the creative head for more than two decades.
Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reported on Tuesday that Prada is interested in the acquisition of both Jimmy Choo and Versace from current owner Capri Holdings (CPRI.N) for a total outlay of between 1.5 billion euros and 2 billion euros. The group’s Chief Financial Officer Andrea Bonini had earlier said it did not comment on rumours when asked about the group’s potential interest in Versace and Jimmy Choo.
Growth Maintained
Prada, which is listed in Hong Kong, reported a 17% increase in net revenues in 2024 to 5.4 billion euros ($5.7 billion), matching analysts’ expectations, according to data from LSEG. The group had a net cash position of 600 million euros at the end of December, which could help to fund a potential acquisition.
Revenues grew by double figures across all regions, with the exception of the Americas, which reported 9% growth thanks to an improvement in the second half of the year. The Asia Pacific region saw a good performance over the year, with 13% growth, with an improvement in the last quarter across all main areas. Retail sales, which account for most of the total sales, rose 18% in 2024, thanks mainly to the smaller Miu Miu brand, which posted 93% growth over the year. Growth at Prada’s main brand was more moderate, around 4% year-on-year. “For the year ahead, we retain our ambition to deliver solid, sustainable, and above-market growth,” Guerra said in the earnings statement.

‘Shark Tank Pakistan’ is a Pakistani reality television series in which bold entrepreneurs pitch their innovative ideas to Pakistan’s top business tycoons in hopes of attracting investments for their businesses.
The first season of the show aired on November 3 2024, and grabbed massive attention from audiences across the country. Here are some important insights from the show, from the judges to the famous pitches, so let’s get to know it all.
Shark Tank Judges and What They Do
Shark Tank Pakistan brought together a diverse panel of seven investors in total. Here is an introduction to each of these prominent business figures.
Romanna Dada
Romanna Dada is a Dubai-based businesswoman with more than 20 years of experience as an investor, banker, consultant, venture builder, and founder of Women Collective and other PWC ventures. She has been very successful in her career and has also helped many businesses on the Shark Tank platform.
This shark is an MIT alum and is the CEO & Founder of EduFi, bringing innovative financial solutions to education in Pakistan. She has also previously worked at big companies like “Ventura Capital” and “Goldman Sachs” and understands well how business and money work on a global level. Surely, Shark Tank pitchers were lucky to get help from a shark as efficient as Aleena.
From MIT to Morgan Stanley and now leading Sarmayacar, this judge is among the most polished entrepreneurs in Pakistan. He really cares about helping Pakistani businesses succeed. Warraich has invested in some famous companies, including Bykea, Dawaai, ProCheck and Patari, which shows how much he believes in the future of Pakistani startups. So, surely all the business owners that were able to get him on board were in good hands.
This Pakistani-American titan in tech has a 25-year history in the world of technology and was the most experienced among all the Shark Tank judges of season 1. Faisal started a VC firm, Zayn VC, and is known for his game-changing ideas about technology.
With his help, companies he’s invested in (including Haball, NayaPay and Bookme.pk.) have raised over 50 CRORE rupees. His guidance was invaluable for the emerging entrepreneurs who pitched on the show.
This judge, Junaid Iqbal, is the founder and CEO of Salt Ventures. He is also the head of Careem Pay, which is a way to pay for things using Careem, a popular ride-hailing app. Before Careem, Junaid was the CEO of a company called Elixir Securities, which helped people invest their money. He was also one of the first people to work at CNBC Pakistan, a famous news channel.
Who wouldn’t want a judge as experienced as Junaid? Shar Tank Pakistan did a favour by getting him on board.
Junaid Iqbal
Usman Bashir
The show also had another veteran on board. Usman has over 15-plus years of experience in the retail and gas station industry, as well as related to Breaktime Corner Market LLC.
Lastly, to wrap up this list we have Karim Teli, the managing director of IGLOO Ice Cream. Teli’s entrepreneurial spirit and business-minded thinking have revolutionised Pakistan’s ice cream industry.
His global impact in business management and IT added a robust retail and consumer goods perspective to the shark team.
The Most Famous Pitches of the Shark Tank Season 1
Some of the most famous pitches from the first season of Shark Tank Pakistan include:
AiBL’s AI-Integrated Prosthetics
This season, Hasnain Khan and Ali Raza Mohsin pitched their idea of creating AI-integrated prosthetics for people with disabilities. This was proved to be a very innovative idea and gained a lot of attention from the whole nation.
Agribotx’s Robotics-Based Farming
Anjum Javed pitched his idea of creating robots to modernise farming practices in Pakistan. This was a much-needed business idea as a great portion of our country’s economy depends on farming, and hence this idea stood out a lot for judges and interested viewers.
Aeroengine Craft Private Limited’s Aerospace Tech
Dr. Sara Qureshi pitched her company’s work in building drones and other aerospace tech. This innovation by Sara had the potential to be revolutionary for the aeronautical industry.
Important Tips That We Learned from These Pitches
Always tell a compelling story to gain the attention of the audience.
Share your personal journey to connect with people.
Explain the inspiration behind your product.
Create an emotional connection with the investors for connectivity.
Provide complex technical details and do your homework beforehand.
Highlight the potential for growth in your sector so that the sharks get interested in investing in your business.
Entrepreneur Who Succeeded in Getting the Biggest Investment
The largest deal on the show was made with a trading company, Saraaf. This company was a commodity-sourcing company that specialised in importing and exporting minerals and commodities. They aimed to connect international markets with suppliers in Central and South Asia.
Saraaf closed a deal of 5 million USD (RS. 200 Crore) that set new records for the history of Shark Tank. This incredible accomplishment surpassed the previous record of $2.5 million, setting a new benchmark worldwide.
Why Some Businesses Failed to Get the Investments?
Some entrepreneurs on Shark Tank Pakistan failed to secure investments due to a combination of factors. This included concerns about the business model’s scalability and unclear product quality that had chances of getting customer complaints.
Many business ideas also lacked market research, had inadequate financial projections and high valuation expectations, which made the investors uncertain about wanting to invest in a business like that. Additionally, it was seen that the businesses that failed to comply with Pakistan’s regulatory environment and had potential taxation issues were also rejected consistently.
Will there be a Shark Tank Season 2?
Overall, the whole season was an immense success and showcased the interest our nation holds in such reality shows. Some gave constructive criticism and preferred the show to be more about empowering entrepreneurs and less about investment. Nonetheless, this was just a tiny bit of criticism and the show was still widely praised. The success of the show now has people waiting for season two. Will there be one? Well, the official website suggests that there will be an upcoming season, but there is still yet no official announcement. I guess we have to remain patient.

Americans Seek UK Citizenship After Trump’s Re-Election
The number of Americans applying for UK citizenship hit a record high last year. Over 6,100 people applied — a 26% increase from 2023. Trump’s return to power and changes in UK tax laws pushed more US citizens to seek British passports.
Applications spiked by 40% in the last three months of 2024, reaching around 1,700. Immigration lawyers linked the rise to US political uncertainty and Britain’s decision to end non-dom tax status.
“Elena Hinchin, a lawyer at Farrer & Co, said US politics is driving more interest in UK citizenship. ‘We’ve seen a big increase since the election began,’ she explained.” Wealthy Americans also rushed to get passports before leaving the UK to keep future options open for themselves and their children.
People can get UK citizenship by meeting certain rules, such as living in the UK for a set period, having British parents, or marrying a British citizen. Home Office data shows that US applications have steadily risen since 2022.
Madeleine Sumption, from Oxford University’s Migration Observatory, noted that personal reasons often play a more significant role in seeking citizenship than politics. However, politics can still influence decisions.
British citizenship searches surged the day after the US election. Americans who moved to the UK during Trump’s first term (2016–2020) are now eligible to apply.
Meanwhile, applications for Irish citizenship from North Americans with Irish roots rose by 46% last year.

On the night between March 13 and 14, 2025, a rare celestial event will occur: a total lunar eclipse will turn the moon into a striking shade of red, also known as ”blood moon.” If you live in North or South America, you will have the best view of the eclipse. Sky watchers in Europe, parts of Africa, and Oceania will also see some of it.
North and South America will be the prime locations to witness all five phases of the eclipse. The Western United States and parts of Canada will have an advantage due to clearer skies in March. In Europe, parts of the eclipse will be visible during moonset, while East Asia and Australia will see the moon’s phases as it rises. The eclipse will last for a total of five to six hours, with totality—when the moon is entirely in Earth’s shadow—lasting approximately 65 minutes. The peak of the eclipse will be between 2:26 a.m. and 3:31 a.m. Eastern Time.
During this period, the moon will glow in shades of red and orange. The Earth will be positioned between the sun and the moon, blocking most sunlight but allowing some to pass through Earth’s atmosphere. Shorter wavelengths like blue and violet scatter, while longer wavelengths—red and orange, reach the moon, creating the blood moon effect. The exact shade of red depends on Earth’s atmospheric conditions at the time. Volcanic eruptions can deepen the red hue, while clear skies may result in a lighter red.
No special glasses are required to watch the eclipse. It is safe to view with the naked eye, but a telescope or binoculars will enhance the experience. To get the best view, it is recommended to find a location free from artificial light. The 2025 blood moon will be the first total lunar eclipse since 2022.

Millie Bobby Brown has spoken out against the intense public scrutiny young women face, especially those growing up in the spotlight. Recently, she became a target of body-shaming during The Electric State tour, with critics claiming she looked older than her age. In an emotional Instagram video, Brown addressed the criticism and the broader issue of tearing young women down.
“I want to address something bigger than me — something that affects every young woman growing up under public scrutiny,” she said.
Brown recalled starting her career at 10 years old and growing up in front of the world. “For some reason, people can’t seem to grow with me. They act like I should still look like I did in Stranger Things Season 1. And because I don’t, I’m now a target,”she shared.
She highlighted hurtful headlines that picked apart her looks and personal choices. “This isn’t journalism. This is bullying,” she stated. “It’s disturbing that adult writers spend time dissecting my face, body and choices. And when those articles come from women? Even worse.”
Brown stood firm in her response to the criticism. “I won’t shrink myself to fit unrealistic expectations. I won’t apologise for growing up or for how I look or dress,” she declared. She challenged people to change their mindset, asking, “Why criticise when it’s so easy to be kind?”
She ended with a powerful message: “Let’s do better. Not just for me, but for every young girl who deserves to grow up without fear of being torn apart for simply existing.”
On the work front, Brown is set to star in The Electric State with Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci and Anthony Mackie. The film premieres on Netflix on March 7.

Gautam Gambhir is not one to hold back, and once again, he made that very clear. The Indian cricket team’s head coach strongly dismissed claims that India had any special advantage playing in Dubai after their four-wicket win over Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy semi-final.
Some critics suggested that India’s familiarity with Dubai’s conditions gave them an edge, but Gambhir wasn’t having any of it.
At the post-match press conference, Gautam Gambhir didn’t mince words. He called these accusations baseless and insisted that India would have picked the same team no matter where the match was played.
“Even if this tournament was held in Pakistan, we would have still gone with two spinners,” he said. That’s a strong statement, shutting down any notion that India tailored their selection just for Dubai.
One of Gambhir’s biggest points? India hadn’t even trained at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. “We have trained at the ICC Cricket Academy, which has entirely different conditions from the main venue,” he revealed.
Gautam Gambhir didn’t stop there. He went a step further, challenging critics to provide proof that India has played under these specific conditions before.
“Tell me, when and where has India played a tournament under these current Dubai conditions? I can’t remember,” he argued.
That’s a fair point. Yes, India has played in Dubai before, but conditions change. Different pitches, different tournaments, different scenarios.
Gautam Gambhir also took a dig at the way players are judged based on numbers rather than their actual impact on a match.
“As journalists, you look at the numbers and statistics. We analyse the impact a player has on the game,” he said. Scoring a big hundred might look great on paper, but if it doesn’t change the game’s outcome, does it really matter? Gambhir doesn’t think so.
India is now in the final, but Gambhir isn’t letting the team get carried away. “Our players have excelled in every department. Each one of them has taken responsibility and shown the hunger to win. But the job isn’t done yet; there’s still one crucial match to win.”
And as for the criticism on team selection? Gambhir made it crystal clear. “We don’t care about criticism from outsiders. Our focus is solely on the performance of the players and the success of the team.”

The authorities continue to investigate the alleged murder of Mustafa Amir, uncovering a significant drug cartel operating in Karachi’s elite areas. The arrests of prime suspect Armaghan Qureshi and Sahir Hasan, son of actor Sajid Hasan, have severely impacted the city’s high-end drug trade. Tied initially to Mustafa’s January 6 disappearance, this case shifted dramatically when Armaghan opened fire on AVCC during a February 8 raid.
Investigators have found links to drug trafficking, fraud and money laundering. The crackdown has led to a near-total halt in Karachi’s weed supply, causing major financial losses for dealers. CIA DIG Muqaddas Haider stated, “You won’t find weed being sold anywhere now. The suppliers have disappeared and the supply has almost completely stopped.”
Karachi’s weed market was controlled by three individuals, with two now dead and one in police custody. Drugs were reportedly bought and sold through the dark web and social media, with some courier companies allegedly involved in deliveries. Investigators are now searching for Bazil who could reveal crucial information about the role of courier companies in drug distribution.
During interrogation, Sahir Hasan admitted that he deposited 75% of his drug sale into an account managed by his father’s manager. Police have started investigating these transactions and may formally include the manager and Sajid Hasan if they find evidence. Authorities are proceeding cautiously, ensuring they make arrests only with solid proof. “We won’t engage in any wrongful tactics just to showcase our performance,”a senior officer stated, emphasising the need for a strong case.

This year’s Oscars were quite eventful. The outcomes were very different from what the mass audience expected, and this is exactly what happened with the Palestinian documentary “No Other Land,” which won the Academy Award for the best documentary. But what is this film even about and why is it getting so much recognition? Let’s find out.
About the Film
The documentary “No Other Land” was recorded from 2019 to 2023 and mainly consists of camcorder footage that documents the chronicles of settler violence in Masafar Yatta, West Bank. The film showed the demolition carried out by the Israeli military as they wanted to turn this village into a military training zone. The Israeli army can be seen razing schools, filling water wells with cement and pulling off other tactics to make people migrate from the region.

The Purpose Behind the Film
This documentary was released during the ongoing apartheid and was made to warn people of the war crimes Israeli occupation is carrying out in Gaza. Ever since October 7th, the Israel-Palestine war has been as intense as ever, but the world still seemed not to bat an eye. The camcorder footage in the documentary showed the human rights violation of innocent civilians being done in the name of “collateral damage.”
This documentary was made to show the real-life picture of the apartheid and what the strongest nations in the world are funding. It was an attempt to keep aside bias and understand how horrible it is in Gaza.
Basel Adra made the film with Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham, who co-directed it along with Palestinian filmmaker Hamdan Ballal and Israeli filmmaker Rachel Szor. It was the directorial debut of all four directors involved. The four directors are Palestinian-Israeli activists, and this direction was taken as an act of resistance to the path of justice.

Even in the Oscar acceptance speech, Basel made sure to highlight his purpose and get his message across. “The film reflects the harsh reality we have been enduring for decades and still resist as we call on the world to take serious actions to stop the injustice and to stop the ethnic cleansing of Palestinian people. About two months ago, I became a father, and my hope for my daughter is that she will not have to live the same life I’m living now,” said Basel.
Where and How Can You Watch It?
Unfortunately, despite the purpose, many studios and distributors in the US refused to pick up the film, and even the online streaming platforms in the US ignored the documentary. When Abraham, one of the directors, saw this lack of interest, he decided to give the documentary a theatrical release in the US independently. Abraham told The New York Times in an interview: “In the US, so many people are writing us, ‘How can we watch it?’ So, we decided to do the theatrical release independently, and it’s now going to show in about 100 theatres in the US.”
There are very few online streaming links where you might be able to watch the documentary, but it can be bought on certain streaming platforms like Amazon UK, Sky Store, and Apple TV. All we can do is hope that other platforms will show interest and understand its purpose after the Oscar win.
The Flip Side
While many Western influencers are seen applauding the film’s win, Palestinians seem to have a different opinion. Calling it ‘Textbook Normalisation of Israel,’ locals from Palestinians believe that it is precisely what they have been fighting against for decades. Working alongside Israeli directors and portraying the narrative of the Israeli State perhaps supports the coloniser mindset which goes against the Palestinian cause.
Many believe that the film, as well as the speech delivered, showed a white saviour complex, putting all the blame on the Israeli government while the citizens are very much at fault too.
‘No Other Land’ has indeed sparked debate globally. So, what are your thoughts?

Australian cricket has witnessed the end of an era as Steve Smith has officially announced his retirement from ODIs. The announcement came right after Australia’s heartbreaking loss to India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final.
Smith, known for his grit and determination, was Australia’s top scorer in the match, crafting a classy 73-run knock. But despite his efforts, Virat Kohli’s match-winning 84 guided India to victory in Dubai.
Smith’s ODI Journey: A Story of Evolution & Success
For those who remember, Smith’s ODI career didn’t start as a top-order batter. He entered international cricket as a leg-spinning all-rounder in 2010, before transforming into one of Australia’s finest batters of all time.
Over 15 years and 170 ODIs, Smith piled up 5,800 runs at an impressive average of 43.28 and a strike rate of 86.96. His tally includes 12 centuries and 35 fifties, with a career-best 164 against New Zealand in 2016.
Beyond his batting, he was a sharp fielder, taking 90 catches, and even chipped in with the ball, bagging 28 wickets.
Two-Time World Champion & A Leader
Steve Smith was a vital part of Australia’s 2015 and 2023 World Cup-winning squads. In 2015, he was not just a player but also the captain, leading the Aussies with authority.
His leadership skills saw him take charge again in his final ODI match, stepping in as interim captain in the absence of Pat Cummins.
Among his many accolades, Smith was:
✅ Australian Men’s ODI Player of the Year (2015, 2021)
✅ Named in ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year (2015)
So, why step away now? For Smith, it’s all about timing. He believes the next World Cup in 2027 is a fresh opportunity for the new generation, and now is the right moment to make way.
“It has been a great ride, and I have loved every minute of it,” Smith reflected. “Winning two World Cups was a great highlight, along with the many fantastic teammates who shared the journey.”
While he bids farewell to ODIs, Test cricket remains his top priority.
“I am really looking forward to the World Test Championship Final, the West Indies tour in the winter, and then facing England at home. I feel I still have a lot to contribute on that stage.”

Pakistan cricket has once again grabbed headlines, and this time, it’s for a massive shake-up in the T20I squad. Star batters Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have been dropped from the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand.
Instead, Salman Ali Agha has been given the captaincy, with Shadab Khan as his deputy.
So, what’s the reason behind this major decision? Is this the beginning of a new era, or is Pakistan taking a big risk by sidelining two of its most experienced batters? Let’s dive in.
Why Were Babar & Rizwan Dropped?
Interim head coach Aqib Javed addressed the big question during a press conference in Lahore. He made it clear—this is not a permanent exclusion. Instead, the focus is on building a new T20I mindset and injecting young blood into the squad.
“Look, this is never the case that a player is completely ruled out. But right now, we feel that we need to bring in young blood into the team and change our style of play and mindset,” Aqib explained.
Pakistan is looking to follow the approach of other teams that separate their T20I and ODI squads. Aqib stressed that the goal is to finalize a core group of 24-25 players for the 2025 Asia Cup and 2026 T20 World Cup, ensuring they stick to a specific style of play.
A Short-Lived Captaincy for Rizwan
For those who may have missed it, Mohammad Rizwan was appointed Pakistan’s white-ball captain in October 2024. However, his stint as T20I skipper didn’t last long—he led the team in just five T20Is and lost all of them.
With Pakistan looking for a fresh start in the shortest format, the selectors have handed the reins to Salman Ali Agha. Rizwan, however, remains in charge of the ODI team, with Babar also retaining his spot in the 50-over format.
Is This the Right Call?
This decision has sparked a heated debate among fans and experts. On one hand, Pakistan’s T20I approach has been criticized for being too conservative.
Despite their talent, Babar and Rizwan have often faced scrutiny for their strike rates in the powerplay, which some argue slows down the team’s momentum.
After more than two decades as WWE’s ultimate good guy, John Cena has finally turned heel (or evil). The wrestling legend shocked fans by betraying Cody Rhodes at WWE Elimination Chamber, aligning himself with The Rock in a move that sent social media into a frenzy.
A Career-Defining Moment
Cena, who stated 2025 would be his last year competing as an active wrestler, just captured the Elimination Chamber match to earn a WrestleMania opportunity at the WWE Championship. WWE champion Cody Rhodes, the current top babyface of WWE, came into the ring to shake Cena’s hand, preparing for what appeared to be a classy, high-stakes contest.
Source: Yahoo Sports
Instead, The Rock interrupted, leading to a heated exchange with Rhodes. In a stunning turn of events, Cena attacked Rhodes, joining forces with The Rock and special guest Travis Scott in a brutal beatdown. The audience watched in disbelief as one of WWE’s most beloved figures crossed over to the dark side.
The Internet Erupts
Social media exploded with reactions, memes and disbelief over Cena’s shocking betrayal. Fans compared the moment to Hulk Hogan’s infamous heel turn in 1996 when he became “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan. Cena, who has spent his career embodying the “Never Give Up” mantra, now stands alongside The Rock as WWE’s newest villainous duo.
Memes inundated the internet, with some joking that Cena’s young fan base was having a hard time adjusting to the shift. Others cited his viral 2011 press conference announcing the death of Osama bin Laden and his tendency to follow almost a million on X (formerly Twitter).
Why Now?
Cena flirted with heel character before, most significantly in his “Doctor of Thuganomics” period of the early 2000s. Still, his affinity for kids and record-breaking contributions to the Make-A-Wish Foundation prevented WWE from making the transition.

Now that Cena’s in-ring life is coming to an end, WWE finally acted, building towards a heated and volatile path to WrestleMania. The fans are left speculating—what will Cena have to say next?
What’s Next?
Following the incident, Cena showed up at the post-show press conference but remained mum, merely dropping the mic and exiting. His silence has done little to diminish the mystery, with fans clamoring for his response in the weeks to come.
One thing is for sure, though: John Cena’s heel turn is one of the biggest surprises in WWE history, and the world of wrestling will never be the same again.
