Usman Tariq’s Bowling Action Cleared Ahead of PSL 10 Playoffs

usman-tariq-cleared-to-bowl-ahead-of-psl-10-playoffs

Quetta Gladiators mystery spinner Usman Tariq has been officially cleared of his suspect bowling action — and that’s a massive boost for the playoff-bound side.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) dropped a welcome announcement on Wednesday: Usman Tariq is in the clear. The 27-year-old spinner, who had been under scrutiny for a suspect action, has passed his bowling assessment at the PCB-accredited biomechanics lab in Lahore.

This means he’s now eligible to bowl without restrictions, just as Quetta heads into the business end of PSL 10.

The Backstory

Let’s rewind a bit. Tariq was reported last month by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Chris Brown during Quetta’s clash against Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi.

Although PSL rules allowed him to continue bowling after the report, Quetta management made a smart move. They voluntarily took him out of action and asked the PCB to fast-track his testing. Instead of risking further controversy or suspension, they chose caution. And now, it’s paid off.

According to the PCB’s official statement:

“Usman was reported for a suspect bowling action on 13 April during an HBL PSL X match against Lahore Qalandars. Following this, the Quetta Gladiators management requested the PCB to allow the bowler to undergo testing, consequent to which he has cleared the bowling assessment.”

Not The First Time

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Tariq’s action has come under the microscope. He was also reported during PSL 9 in a match against Karachi Kings.

For a spinner who thrives on mystery and variations, it’s not uncommon to attract attention. But getting cleared twice now should give both the player and his team confidence moving forward.

While his numbers don’t scream dominance, Tariq has shown promise.

  • PSL 9: 2 wickets in 5 matches (a forgettable season)
  • PSL 10: 3 wickets in 2 games (so far).

He’s not a marquee name yet, but if there’s one thing PSL has taught us, it’s that unsung heroes often rise in the knockouts.

PSL 10: Islamabad United to Face Quetta Gladiators Today- What to Expect

Just when the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 was heating up on the field, a serious off-field development has started to take centre stage — and it’s got fans on edge.

According to credible reports from Geo Super, the ongoing PSL 10 could face a sudden and indefinite postponement. The reason? Escalating tensions between India and Pakistan have now raised major security concerns across the country, especially around PSL venues.

Read More: Hasan Nawaz Joins Babar Azam In The Record Books

A crucial high-level meeting between the Ministry of Interior and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is scheduled to assess the security threat and decide whether the tournament can safely continue.

The outcome of this meeting could determine the fate of PSL 10, and honestly, things aren’t looking too bright right now.

Spy Drone Near Pindi Stadium

What’s really spooked everyone is a serious breach in security. Reports suggest that a spy drone was spotted — and taken down — near Rawalpindi’s Food Street, alarmingly close to the Pindi Cricket Stadium.

The stadium, mind you, is currently one of the central hubs for PSL 10 matches. In fact, it’s set to host a big clash between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings at 8 PM tonight. But with this drone incident, that match—and possibly the rest of the schedule—could be hanging by a thread.

Airspace Issues and Logistics Headaches

Beyond the drone incident, the closure of airspace amid growing regional unrest is another massive red flag. With teams, broadcasters, support staff, and even fans needing to travel between cities, restricted air travel could seriously derail PSL logistics.

Sources say that unless there’s a drastic de-escalation in the current situation, postponements or cancellations seem increasingly likely.

Read More: PCB Clears the Air on PSL 10 Amid India-Pakistan Tensions

The PCB now finds itself at a crossroads. On one hand, they have a tournament that’s not just a sporting event, but a celebration of cricket that unites fans from all over Pakistan.

On the other, there’s the undeniable priority of player and public safety. Postponing the league isn’t just about rescheduling matches—it’s about reshuffling team availability, broadcaster commitments, sponsorship contracts, and so much more. The ripple effect could last months.

The Bigger Picture: Cricket in a Geopolitical Crossfire

This isn’t the first time cricket has felt the tremors of geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan—and sadly, it may not be the last.

But this time, it’s not a bilateral series or a diplomatic deadlock. It’s a domestic T20 league, in Pakistan, at home, and yet, outside forces are threatening its continuity.

For now, nothing is official. But the mood is tense, and the uncertainty is real. As fans, all we can do is hope for cooler heads to prevail and for cricket to continue doing what it does best—bringing joy, unity, and a bit of much-needed distraction from everything else happening in the world.

Let’s hope tonight’s game goes ahead. But even more importantly, let’s hope everyone involved—players, fans, staff—stays safe.

Karachi, Lahore, Sialkot Airports Shut Down Temporarily Amid Security Threats

The Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) suspended all flights at Lahore, Sialkot, and Karachi airports on Thursday. Some sources also mentioned Islamabad Airport, suggesting its closure might be final. The PAA stated operations would remain halted until noon due to growing regional tensions and operational challenges.

Flights at Lahore and Sialkot were stopped because of “the current security situation” tied to rising tensions between Pakistan and India. While Islamabad’s airport remains open, the PAA cited “operational reasons” for its status.

Over 18 flights have been affected so far. The PAA urged passengers to check with their airlines for updates on flight changes and schedules.

Airport authorities linked the suspension to national security concerns. They emphasised the need to protect passengers and ensure flight safety during this tense period.

Just a day before, the PAA had announced that all airports had returned to normal operations after a short closure of national airspace. But now, flight activity has again been disrupted, especially in major hubs.

The disruptions followed Indian military strikes late Tuesday into early Wednesday. These missile attacks hit several parts of Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and densely populated areas in Punjab.

In response, Pakistan’s military said it shot down four Indian Air Force (IAF) jets and a combat drone. They also claimed to have destroyed an Indian brigade headquarters in retaliation.

The PAA has not confirmed if the suspension will continue after noon. Authorities asked travellers to stay alert and follow updates from airlines and airport officials.

No further details have been released about future airspace usage or flight schedules. The situation remains tense, and more developments are expected.

Pakistan Shoots Down 12 Indian Drones in Multiple Areas

Pakistan Shoots Down 12 Indian Drones in Multiple Areas

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, head of Inter-Services Public Relations, announced on Thursday that Pakistan’s armed forces intercepted and destroyed 12 Indian drones that attempted to enter the country.

At a news conference, he explained that Indian drones crossed into Pakistani territory on May 7 and 8. “India last night did another egregious act of military aggression towards Pakistan by sending Herap drones to proliferate locations,” he told reporters.

The military shot down the drones in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Bahawalpur, Mianwali, Karachi, Chor, Miano, and Attock.

A 13th drone struck near a military site close to Lahore and damaged some equipment. “Four personnel from the Pakistan Army were injured in a drone strike in Lahore, whereas one civilian was martyred in Miano, Sindh,” he said.

He said these intrusions reflect a clear pattern of Indian aggression. He added that Pakistan’s forces are fully alert and ready to defend the nation’s airspace and territory.

Referring to a recent air battle, he said the Pakistan Air Force shot down five Indian aircraft. “India has evidently lost the plot,” he stated, pointing out the heavy Indian casualties along the Line of Control.

This drone episode followed an Indian missile attack that killed 31 people and injured 57 in different parts of Pakistan. India claimed the missile strike was in retaliation for an April 22 attack that killed 26 Indian tourists.

Meanwhile, Pakistan and India’s National Security Advisers (NSAs) have started communication. Lt General Asim Malik, who serves as both Pakistan’s NSA and DG ISI, spoke with Indian NSA Ajit Doval. Officials believe the conversation is part of efforts to de-escalate tensions.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the contact. “Yes, Pakistan and Indian National Security Advisers are in touch,” he told The Express Tribune, though he didn’t share more details.

Sources said international and regional diplomatic pressure helped open this communication. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who also holds the NSA role, spoke with both NSAs following the missile strikes and Pakistan’s military response.

Hasan Nawaz Joins Babar Azam in the Record Books

hasan-nawaz-joins-babar-azam-in-the-record-books

If you didn’t know the name Hasan Nawaz before this week, you certainly do now.

The young Quetta Gladiators batter just pulled off something truly special—something only one other Pakistani player has ever achieved. With a blazing century in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and another earlier this year on international debut, Hasan Nawaz has joined the elite club of players with T20I and PSL hundreds in the same calendar year.

And yes, the only other member of that club? None other than Babar Azam.

A Night to Remember in Rawalpindi

It all happened under the floodlights at the Pindi Cricket Stadium. Quetta Gladiators were up against Islamabad United in a high-stakes PSL 10 clash. And what unfolded was nothing short of a run-fest masterclass.

Hasan Nawaz smashed his maiden PSL century—a whirlwind 100 not out off just 45 balls. The innings was a mix of raw power and clean timing, as he cleared the ropes nine times and pierced the field for four boundaries.

Read More: Kamran Akmal Unleashes on Mohammad Rizwan: “He’s Not Captain Material!

The knock wasn’t just personal glory—it powered Quetta to 263/3, the highest-ever total in PSL history. Yes, you read that right—history was made.

A Consistent Match-Winner

But here’s the kicker—this wasn’t a one-off. Earlier this year, Hasan Nawaz announced himself on the international stage in style.

In a T20I series against New Zealand, he scored an unbeaten 105 off 45 balls, hitting 10 fours and 7 sixes. Much like his PSL ton, it was a knock that not only entertained but also sealed the win for Pakistan.

Two match-winning centuries in two high-pressure games. Both in the same year. Both against solid opposition. This isn’t hype. It’s reality.

In the Footsteps of Babar Azam

To truly understand the magnitude of Hasan’s achievement, we need to rewind to 2023, when Babar Azam hit a majestic 115 in the PSL for Peshawar Zalmi and followed it up with a T20I century against New Zealand later that year.

Read More: Gautam Gambhir Comments on India-Pakistan Cricketing Ties

The difference? Babar’s PSL hundred came in a losing cause.

Hasan Nawaz, on the other hand, has turned both of his hundreds into team victories, showing not just individual brilliance, but an ability to deliver under pressure when it matters most.

Rossouw Joins the Party, United Face the Heat

Let’s not forget—Hasan wasn’t alone in turning up the heat. Rilee Rossouw also blasted a century, and the two combined to set a total that felt more like a mountain than a target.

Islamabad United never looked in control during the chase and were eventually bowled out 109 runs short, suffering one of the most crushing defeats in PSL history.

The result didn’t just dent morale—it damaged their Net Run Rate, dropping them to third on the table with a negative 0.044 NRR. Quetta, meanwhile, now sits comfortably on top with 13 points from 9 matches.

Pakistan,India NSAs Make Contact After Missile Strikes

Pakistan,India NSAs Make Contact After Missile Strikes
Pakistan,India NSAs Make Contact After Missile Strikes

After India launched missile strikes in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, the National Security Advisers (NSAs) of both countries made direct contact. Pakistan’s NSA, Lt General Asim Malik, who also heads the ISI, reached out to Indian NSA Ajit Doval.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated, “Yes, Pakistan and Indian National Security Advisers are in touch,” but shared no further details. A Pakistani official said these backchannel talks help manage crises effectively.

Several countries worked urgently to de-escalate the situation. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who also serves as NSA, contacted both Pakistani and Indian NSAs soon after the strikes and the Pakistani response.

The National Security Committee warned that Pakistan would retaliate “at a place, time and manner of its choosing.” However, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a National Assembly speech, hinted Pakistan may not respond further on the battlefield.

Sources said a third country had tipped off Pakistan about the Indian strikes. The same source also conveyed India’s message that it wanted to avoid escalation.

In 2019, India surprised Pakistan with airstrikes in Balakot after the Pulwama attack. Indian jets crossed the Line of Control for the first time since 1971. Pakistani leaders didn’t expect such a bold move from the Modi government. It took them a full day to decide how to respond.

This time, Pakistani forces were fully prepared. Officials said top leadership gave clear orders to strike back immediately if India attacked. When explosions occurred from Muzaffarabad to Bahawalpur, Pakistan confirmed the strike and launched a counterattack within an hour. The response came by both land and air.

DG ISPR Lt General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan shot down five Indian fighter jets, including advanced Rafale jets from France.Pakistan could have shot down 10 Indian fighter jets,” he stated during a press briefing. He added that Pakistan chose to show restraint.

Indian media avoided reporting on the losses. The Hindu initially confirmed three downed jets but later removed the story. A US commentator told CNN that losing Rafale jets would be a serious blow to India. India had been boasting about its air power since acquiring the French aircraft.

Experts noted that the incident tested both Chinese and Western military technology. Pakistan used J-10C fighter jets from China, bought after India added Rafales to its fleet.

A French intelligence officer confirmed to CNN that Pakistan had downed one Indian Rafale. This marked the first time a Rafale jet was lost in combat. The US commentator said this shows that China now possesses advanced military technology.

Three Explosions Cause Panic on Walton Road, Lahore

On Thursday, panic spread through Walton Road and nearby areas in Lahore when three loud explosions were heard one after another. The explosions happened within seconds of each other. Lahore Police confirmed that people several kilometres away could hear the blasts. They rushed out of their houses in a panic, and crowds started to form outside, not understanding the situation.

There were emergency response teams, including rescue units and firefighters, that arrived on scene. Police also arrived in large numbers and sealed off the area for investigation.

Police said they are actively investigating the source and cause of the explosions. The blasts took place near Gulberg, a high-security and upscale area in the city.

A Notice to Airmen (Notam) stated, “Several air routes within Lahore and Sialkot are closed for commercial flights.” Airport officials confirmed they had closed the routes earlier in the morning due to regional tensions. They expected the closure to continue until noon..

Authorities have blocked all unrelated individuals from entering the site. Bomb disposal squads and intelligence teams began their initial inspections shortly after the blasts.

Police and emergency services are working together at the scene. “The explosions happened within moments,” police stated. Investigations will reveal more details about the source of the blasts.

These explosions have caused concern among locals, especially because Gulberg is considered a sensitive and important part of Lahore. This incident happened just hours after air travel was affected in Lahore and Sialkot, raising more questions.

This is a developing story; more details will be shared as they become available.

School Holidays Extension News Is Fake: Punjab Govt

The Punjab government has clarified that a viral notification spreading on social media about school holidays being extended is fake. The claim suggested that due to rising tensions between Pakistan and India, school holidays are to be prolonged.

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari gave a clear statement on Wednesday. She said, “The notification being shared online is completely fake.” She added that no decision has been made about extending school holidays.

Bukhari also requested the public to stop sharing or believing in fake notifications during such a sensitive situation. “Any decision regarding school closures will be made based on ground realities and through official channels only,” she said.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat also confirmed that no such order has been issued by the education department. He said, “Academic activities will continue as usual from tomorrow,” and added that the circulating notification has no official value and is baseless.

At the same time, Rawalpindi remains under a complete blackout due to ongoing security concerns. Authorities have asked people to only rely on official sources of the government for updates about schools and other important matters, especially during the current national security situation.

The government is focusing on avoiding panic and controlling the spread of false information. Officials are urging citizens to trust only what comes through official statements and to refrain from acting on unverified information.

Authorities Order Complete Blackout in Rawalpindi Amid India-Pakistan Conflict

Authorities in Rawalpindi have ordered a complete blackout in all private housing societies due to rising security concerns. This decision comes after recent Indian airstrikes targeted multiple civilian areas across Pakistan.

An official notification from the city administration said the blackout will be enforced from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am every night, and it will stay in place until further notice.

“All street lights must remain switched off during the night,” the notification clearly stated. It also instructed residents to switch off all outside lights, including those in porches and driveways.

The administration added that residents should cover all windows, reduce indoor lighting as much as possible, and avoid going out unless necessary during the blackout hours.

These steps aim to lower visibility from the air and protect people by making it harder for enemy aircrafts or drones to spot targets during the night. With tensions rising in the region, officials believe these precautions are important to keep the public safe.

City officials asked residents to cooperate fully with these safety instructions. They explained that everyone must take responsibility to support national security during this tense period.

The blackout is seen as a way to prepare for any further threats or attacks, by ensuring that important areas are not visible from the sky. It is a precaution many cities take during times of conflict to reduce the chances of more damage or casualties.

Pakistan Military Authorised to Strike India ‘At Time, Place and Manner of Own Choosing’

Pakistan Military Authorised To Strike India ‘At Time, Place And Manner Of Own Choosing’

On Wednesday, the National Security Committee (NSC) authorised the Pakistan military to take appropriate action in response to Indian airstrikes that targeted multiple civilian areas.

The strikes, launched overnight on May 6-7, hit locations in Sialkot, Shakargarh, Muridke, Bahawalpur, Kotli and Muzaffarabad. The attack led to civilian deaths, including women and children and caused damage to civilian infrastructure such as mosques and the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project.

The NSC’s statement condemned the Indian attack, calling it “unprovoked, cowardly and unlawful.” It highlighted that India’s strikes were based on the false claim of targeting terrorist camps and resulted in civilian casualties. The NSC also emphasised that these attacks endangered commercial airlines, as 57 international flights were passing through Pakistani airspace at the time. Pakistan’s military has reserved the right to respond to this aggression, under Article 51 of the UN Charter, which allows for self-defence.

Children Among 26 Killed in Airstrikes

DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed 26 civilian deaths and 46 injuries caused by 24 airstrikes on six different locations. In Bahawalpur, 13 people, including two three-year-old girls, were martyred. Three fatalities occurred near Muzaffarabad after an attack on Bilal Mosque, while the Abbas Mosque in Kotli saw two teenagers killed. Additionally, the Indian army firing along the Line of Control resulted in five civilian deaths, including a five-year-old child.

The attack on Pakistan’s water infrastructure, including the Nauseri Dam, was condemned as a dangerous escalation. Lt Gen Chaudhry remarked that targeting water resources raises serious concerns about India’s compliance with international humanitarian law. He stressed that Pakistan’s aircraft did not cross into Indian airspace, and no Indian aircraft were allowed into Pakistani territory. The armed forces remain committed to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and will respond to future provocations at their discretion.

Met Gala 2025 Makeup Trends: Celebrities Reinvent the Smoky Eye

Met Gala 2025 Makeup Trends: Celebrities Reinvent the Smoky Eye
Met Gala 2025 Makeup Trends: Celebrities Reinvent the Smoky Eye

Every year, the Met Gala comes and serves not just dresses but makeup inspo too. This time, too, they went all out and re-invented the long-dead — Smokey eye. And before you start getting icked out thinking that’s so 2016, think again. This isn’t your older sister’s black-and-grey smudge fest. This was Smoky Eye 2.0. A look much more bold and personal.

Warning: The following content is too good not to add to the mood boards!

The Smoky Eye 2.0: A Modern Take on the Smoky Eye

Gone are the days of the traditional charcoal smoky eye. At this year’s Gala, we witnessed a spectrum of interpretations: from warm, sultry hues to unexpected pops of colour. Tyla captivated audiences with her 1920s Hollywood-inspired look, featuring smoky eyes in warm nudes and browns, complemented by varied red lip tones. Pat McGrath’s artistry turned Tyla’s face into a love letter to Josephine Baker with a postmodern wink.

Then there was Zendaya. Of course, Zendaya. A bronzed smoky eye with a ’90s nude lip? She made restraint look revolutionary. She didn’t come to play; she came to finesse. It’s easy to go dramatic. It’s harder to make a soft makeup look slap. Her look was a testament to the evolving nature of the smoky eye, proving that subtlety can be just as impactful as drama.

The Face as Canvas, Not Template

What stood out most this year wasn’t the eyeshadow itself, but the intention behind it. Emma Chamberlain ditched Instagram-pretty for an editorial edge, wearing a black eye so smouldering it practically rebuked subtlety. Her look said: “Yes, I’m Gen Z and I still want my eyeliner to look like it survived a bar fight.” And it worked.

Lupita Nyong’o went celestial. Smoky eyes paired with bedazzled eyebrows? Please. That’s not a makeup trend—that’s a manifesto. If her bejewelled brows didn’t scream “Watch me break the rules while you’re still learning them,” then nothing did.

And let’s take a second for Gigi Hadid. A throwback smoky eye in silvery ash with a mega-winged liner? She risked veering into dated territory, but instead, it felt like a reclamation. This was nostalgia without the cringe. Proof that even 2010s beauty can be elevated if you wield it with intent (and a very good MUA).

The Evolution of a Classic

This year’s Met Gala highlighted the smoky eye’s transformation from a singular style to a multifaceted expression of personal identity. Proving that the smoky eye remains a powerful tool in the ever-evolving landscape of beauty.

Trump Confirms US-Houthi Ceasefire after Two Months of Bombing Yemen

Trump Confirms US-Houthi Ceasefire after Two Months of Bombing Yemen
Trump Confirms US-Houthi Ceasefire after Two Months of Bombing Yemen

The United States and Yemen’s Houthi forces declared a US-Houthi ceasefire deal as of early May 2025. This is a major breakthrough following around two months of increased US bombing campaigns in Yemen. The US initiated these campaigns because Houthi forces were consistently attacking international ships within the Red Sea, those linked with Israel, to show their strong support toward Palestine. Notably, mediation efforts spearheaded by Oman allegedly facilitated this deal.

Trump Confirms End to Bombings

US President Donald Trump personally announced the ceasefire. He also declared that the US bombing campaign against Houthi targets would be stopped. In President Trump’s words, the Houthi forces have “capitulated.” He added that they have agreed to desist from their attacks on vessels passing through the critical Red Sea shipping lane. As such, the overarching objective of the US military intervention, which was freedom of navigation, now appears attainable through this deal.

Emphasis on Shipping in the Red Sea

It was also asserted by Omani officials that their significant role includes brokering the truce. According to them, the agreement seeks to reduce tensions profoundly. In addition, it endeavors to ensure no side will engage in attacking the other. Thus, one fundamental outcome is shielding international commercial shipping in the Bab al-Mandab Strait as well as in the Red Sea.

But Houthi spokesmen have said their position on Israel may not be altered by this agreement. They also intimated that any resumption of US attacks would definitely be answered. Moreover, the US State Department has explained that this specific ceasefire mainly deals with the security of shipping lanes. Therefore, it does not necessarily apply to the independent conflict between the Houthis and Israel. This ceasefire, however, introduces calm to a tinderbox era. This era featured US airstrikes virtually daily and continued Houthi resistance. The world will closely watch now if this accord endures and finally leads to stabilisation of this critical sea area.

Supreme Court Sets Aside Decision Opposing Civilian Trials by Military

Supreme Court Sets Aside Decision Opposing Civilian Trials by Military
Supreme Court Sets Aside Decision Opposing Civilian Trials by Military

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has reinstated the Pakistan Army Act in its original form, reversing its earlier October 23, 2023, decision that had struck down some of its provisions as unconstitutional. In a 5-2 majority verdict, the top court accepted appeals submitted by the Ministry of Defence and others. The Court brought back Sections 2(1)(d)(i), 2(1)(d)(ii), and 59(4) of the Act.

Justices Aminuddin Khan, Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Musarrat Hilali, Hasan Azhar Rizvi, and Shahid Waheed supported the decision. Justices Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Naeem Akhtar Afghan dissented. The court ordered Parliament to amend the law within 45 days to allow military court convicts to independently appeal in high courts. The court will issue a detailed written judgment later.

This ruling follows the court’s December 13, 2024, verdict, which conditionally allowed military courts to announce reserved verdicts. After that, military courts sentenced many civilians for their involvement in the May 9 riots.

On December 21, military courts sentenced 25 civilians to prison for attacking military installations during the May 9 unrest. Sentences ranged from two to ten years. In the days that followed, courts convicted 60 more civilians on similar charges and handed them comparable prison terms.

On January 2, 2025, the military granted mercy to 19 convicts by accepting their petitions on humanitarian grounds. This decision provided some relief to those individuals.

By restoring the Army Act and calling for amendments, the court has reignited debate about trying civilians in military courts. The expected legal changes may influence how the justice system handles such cases in the future.

Pakistan Partially Restores Access to X: Twitter Unbanned in Pakistan

Pakistan has temporarily lifted its restrictions on the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter. X is unbanned in Pakistan, as some users can now access the platform without using VPNS or proxy services. Many users confirmed they could open their accounts directly. To begin with, the government had imposed these restrictions after the general elections in February 2024, forcing millions to rely on third-party tools for months. Those restrictions have now ended for several users.

This comes during a time of increased military tension between Pakistan and India, in particular a strong military build-up along the Pakistan-India border. On Wednesday morning of this week, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Director of the DG ISPR (Inter-Services Public Relations), stated that the Indian armed forces executed airstrikes on six separate sites located within the territory of Pakistan, specifically targeting areas in Kotli, Bahawalpur, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, and Muridke. Eight civilians were martyred and 33 were injured.” Pakistan’s military conducted a strong and coordinated counter-attack against these operations.

Security sources reported that Pakistani forces shot down five Indian aircraft. They confirmed the action came after those aircraft launched attacks on Pakistani soil using Indian airspace. Pakistan tracked and targeted them during the strikes.

This shift in online access marks a major change in how the government manages digital platforms during political and military crises. The partial restoration of X shows some loosening of controls, though full access remains limited.

Ditch the Gifts: Try These Fun Experiences with Mom This Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and let’s be honest: your mom probably doesn’t need another candle or a mug. While those gifts are sweet, nothing says “I love you” quite like spending quality time together. This year, ditch the material things and give your mom something far more memorable — an experience. Here are some fun, creative and gift-free ways to celebrate your mom this Mother’s Day.

Fun Ideas to Try on Mother’s Day

Here are some fun, creative and gift-free ways to celebrate your mom this Mother’s Day.

1. Take a Cooking Class Together (Use What You Learn)

Why go out for brunch when you can learn how to make a killer Eggs Benedict side-by-side with the woman who taught you how to boil water? Find a local cooking class or virtual session and whip up something delicious together. The worst that can happen here? Probably a flour fight.

2. Plan a Spa Day: DIY or Deluxe

You don’t have to splurge on a five-star spa retreat (unless that’s your vibe — in which case, book it now). A DIY spa day at home can be just as relaxing. Think cucumber water, homemade face masks, foot soaks and essential oils. Put on calming music, wear your fluffiest robes and spend the day pampering the queen she is.

3. Host a Backyard Picnic (Even if You Burn the Sandwiches)

Skip the crowded restaurants and set up a charming picnic in the backyard or at a local park. Pack her favorite snacks, bring a cozy blanket and don’t forget the playlist. Add some silly games or a DIY mimosa bar, and you’ve got a celebration that’s low-key but full of heart.

4. Take a Class That’s Totally Outside the Box

Pottery painting? Salsa dancing? Goat yoga? (Yes, that’s a real thing.) Sign up for a class you’d both never normally take. It’s a great way to bond over something new — even if you’re both hilariously bad at it.

Here are some places you can look to attend these sessions:

5. Have a Movie Marathon of Her Favorite Classics

Rewatch her favorite feel-good flicks. The ones you’ve seen 100 times but still laugh and cry at like it’s the first time. Pop the popcorn, dim the lights, and cozy up with blankets. Don’t forget to throw in that rom-com she always quotes or that musical she can sing every word to.

6. Volunteer Together for a Cause She Loves

If your mom’s heart is as big as her purse collection, consider spending the day giving back. Volunteer at an animal shelter, food pantry or community garden. Not only will you spend meaningful time together, but you’ll also be helping others. It’s a gift that keeps on giving.

7. Recreate a Childhood Memory

Take her back to the good old days by recreating something nostalgic from your past — a park you used to visit, a favorite recipe from your lunchbox years, or a craft you made together when you were little. It’s a sweet reminder of how far you’ve come and how strong your bond still is.

Memory Is More Important Than Gifts

Mother’s Day doesn’t have to be about pricey gifts or perfect plans. At the end of the day, what your mom wants most is to feel loved, appreciated, and connected. So this year, skip the wrapping paper and give her something better: your time, attention, and a few good laughs.

She might not remember the mug. But she will remember the memory you made together.

A Chilling 2019 Study Predicted Nuclear War in 2025 — Are We on the Brink?
A Chilling 2019 Study Predicted Nuclear War in 2025 — Are We on the Brink?

A 2019 research which eerily predicted a nuclear war between India and Pakistan in 2025 has come into renewed focus amid mounting tensions between the two countries. The dire prophecy, released by Routledge, describes a nightmarish series of events led by a big terror attack, echoing the recent fatal accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that killed 26 people.

A Predicted Path to Nuclear Catastrophe

The research hypothesised that a major terrorist attack, originally envisioned as an attack on the Indian Parliament, would elicit a mass Indian military mobilisation along the Line of Control (LoC). Pakistan would retaliate by replicating this deployment, creating a risky build-up of troops. True to form, the research anticipated that subsequent skirmishes and deaths on both sides would quickly escalate the conflict, pushing the two nuclear-armed neighbours to the brink.

The Nightmare Scenario Unfolds

The first nuclear use, under the dire prophecy, would take place when Indian troops started crossing into Pakistani lines. Pakistani commanders, in the face of conventional defeat, would turn to tactical nuclear weapons on their own soil to stem the Indian tide. The research described a chilling exchange: Pakistan firing 10 tactical nukes on Day 1 and 15 additional ones on Day 2. India’s response, as expected, would be 20 strategic nuclear airbursts on Pakistani military bases and nuclear storage facilities, causing gigantic fires and smoke plumes akin to Hiroshima.

The 2019 Study Portrayed a Picture of Unstoppable Escalation.

India’s strategic attacks would not frighten Pakistan but rather unleash a lethal third day of retaliation. Pakistan would retaliate with 30 airbursts on Indian garrisons, naval ports, and city airfields, as well as 15 additional tactical attacks. India would, in return, attack 10 Pakistani military targets in cities with nuclear weapons.

The study chillingly outlined a disastrous chain reaction driven by anger, panic, miscommunication, and strict military procedures. During the next three days, Pakistan would launch its whole strategic force of 120 nuclear weapons against Indian cities, which would induce India to retaliate with 70 nuclear airbursts, reserving some to warn China. The estimated global fallout is appalling, with 50 to 125 million deaths immediately and major cities made uninhabitable.

Global Repercussions

Aside from the direct destruction, the climatic consequences of the nuclear firestorms would unleash global famines, possibly impacting billions globally. The report ended with a grim warning: “The ramifications would be enormous and global in scope.”

While these were predictions made by a study, the recent Pak-India war tensions have most of us thinking whether we are heading toward an actual nuclear war.

Hina Altaf Slams Attack on Masjid, Calls it a Deep Violation of Muslim Faith

Hina Altaf Slams Attack on Masjid, Calls it a Deep Violation of Muslim Faith
Hina posted a very emotional and powerful statement. She did not beat around the bush, and she did not resort to vague "prayers and thoughts"

In a world overrun with fashion parades and red carpet glitz, the horrific wails of war tend to get drowned in the din. But actress Hina Altaf has ensured that her voice isn’t lost in the chaos. Following a fatal attack on a mosque, which resulted in the death of twenty-six people, including a child, she used social media to voice her disagreement with politics, but with the silence of people who ought to be speaking.

The Heartbreaking Incident

The attack she spoke of wasn’t just another breaking news; it struck where it stings the most: a house of worship, a mosque. Holy to Muslims, mosques are sanctuaries of peace and prayer. The intentional targeting of an area of worship, such as it is, is a blatant abuse not only of religious freedoms but of humanity.

Imagine losing a child in a sanctuary that’s supposed to keep you safe spiritually. That’s the harsh reality this week. Among the victims was a young child, something so unbearable that it can’t be put into words. Twelve others were hurt. The sorrow is shared, and the indignation is genuine.

Hina Altaf’s Statement

Taking advantage of her Instagram platform, Hina posted a very emotional and powerful statement. She did not beat around the bush, and she did not resort to vague “prayers and thoughts” posts. Rather, she cut to the chase.

“I Strongly Condemn…”

In her words: “I strongly condemn the attack on our masjid, a sacred place deeply connected to our Muslim sentiments. A child lost life and 12 others were injured. Civilian areas were targeted. This is a painful reminder of the cost innocent lives continue to bear.”

Her message wasn’t political; it was spiritual, emotional, and human.

She encouraged people not to get caught up in the trap of hate or blind boycott culture, but to ask themselves a deeper question: Where’s our dignity?

“Okay fine — maybe boycott and hate isn’t the answer but can we at least pause?”
“This isn’t about politics — it’s about self-respect.”

The Issue with Selective Outrage

She pointed out the irony: while mosques are being attacked and the voices of Pakistanis are being muted, our social streams continue to overflow with glitz and glam from events such as the Met Gala.

This is a contrast that hit a nerve, and it should have. How can a society remain so apathetic when its values are being ripped asunder?

Double Standards in Art and Culture

Hina also highlighted the double standards in cultural collaborations. When Pakistani creatives collaborate with Indian platforms, they get left out, silenced, or even banned when there is tension between the countries. However, there is a different set of rules when the tables are reversed.

“Across the border your collab video gets deleted. Artists featured in their projects get cut out. Our channels banned, silenced, blocked…”

Blocked, Silenced, and Banned

Pakistani citizens are reportedly being given 48-hour warnings to leave India. Social media profiles are being suspended. Creative minds are being silenced and yet we continue as if nothing happened?

A Broader Cultural Shift

Hina Altaf is not alone. There is a gradual but certain change underway. Artists and influencers are finally starting to understand that their platforms are too valuable to squander on silence. Intentional expression is the new trend.

In a world where silence at times appears to be louder than words, Hina Altaf decided to speak. Not just speak but roar. Her passionate appeal wasn’t solely one of a tragedy but a wake-up call, a call to pause, and a call to stand up for dignity. At such times, it isn’t merely a question of being an actor or influencer, it’s a question of being human.

A lot Happened While You Were Asleep: Summary of India’s Attack on Pakistan

A lot Happened While You Were Asleep: Here’s a Quick Summary
A lot Happened While You Were Asleep: Here’s a Quick Summary

While most of us were sound asleep, the night turned tense across the region. By morning, newsfeeds were bombarded with dramatic developments that unfolded while the world slept. Here’s a quick roundup of India’s attack on Pakistan and all that followed.

India’s Attack on Pakistan: Unprovoked

Parts of Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir were attacked by multiple missile attacks (all unprovoked) by India on Wednesday morning. In this attack, according to reports, at least twenty six people were killed and this includes a three-year-old child.

Pakistan’s military said Indian missiles struck nine cities. That included six different places in Punjab province — the first time that India has hit Pakistan’s most populous state since the 1971 war between the neighbours. The two remaining places targeted were Muzaffarabad and Kotli, both in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

Why did India Strike Pakistan? All We Know About “Operation Sindoor”

The Indian military has dubbed its missile strikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir as “Operation Sindoor.” Sindoor is the Hindi word for vermilion, a red pigment that married Hindu women often apply to their foreheads. The name of India’s military operation is an apparent reference to the manner in which the attackers shot their victims in Pahalgam on April 22. In the days following the attack, an image of a woman lying next to the lifeless body of her husband went viral, becoming a symbol of the pain and heartbreak endured by victims, specially women who lost their husbands and got widowed.

However, despite the emotional dubbing of the operation, it must also be noted that these same widowed wives were being harrassed on social media when they tried to voice their opinions for peace.

Yes, this is what the Indian media will not tell you.

The woman in the photo was Himanshi Narwal, whose husband, a 26-year-old naval officer, was among the victims. The couple, who had been married for less than a week, were on their honeymoon when Vinay Narwal was shot dead. But within days, Ms Narwal, who had been portrayed as the face of the tragedy, found herself at the centre of a hate campaign. It started last week when she urged people not to target Muslims or Kashmiris as emotions ran high across the country. “People going against Muslims or Kashmiris – we don’t want this. We want peace and only peace,” Ms Narwal told reporters at a blood donation camp held by the family on what would have been her husband’s 27th birthday.

Her appeal for peace sparked a swift backlash. Within hours, many of the internet users who had earlier mourned her loss were posting abusive comments.

PSL 10: Islamabad United to Face Quetta Gladiators Today- What to Expect

The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host a very interesting PSL 10 clash today as title-holders Islamabad United will face red-hot Quetta Gladiators. With playoffs in sight, this Match assumes major importance for both teams but for different reasons.

United Looking to End Losing Streak

Reigning PSL champions Islamabad United are in uncharacteristic trouble following a recent downturn in form. Three consecutive losses have put them in a perilously positioned with 10 points from eight games. Their last match saw them lose to the same Quetta Gladiators in a closely contested game in Lahore.

Though Sahibzada Farhan, Mohammad Nawaz, and Naseem Shah had notable performances in that game, United could not manage a win. The fans will be expecting a much better performance from the main players to stop this slide and revive their campaign. Their strength is a bowling attack supported by all-rounders such as Jason Holder and Shadab Khan, but their batting unit must fire regularly.

Gladiators Riding High on Momentum

Compared to that, the Quetta Gladiators approach this game as the team to beat in PSL 2025. Winning five of their opening eight games, they top the points table with 11 points and are full of confidence. Their just-ended win over Islamabad United reflected their resilience under pressure.

The Gladiators have a well-united team with both their batting and bowling departments playing an important role in their success. The captain, Saud Shakeel, has also led by example with the bat, while players like Hasan Nawaz and Finn Allen have given vital contributions in terms of runs. Their bowling unit, led by Faheem Ashraf, Abrar Ahmed, and Khurram Shahzad, has been delivering important breakthroughs consistently.

Prediction Favours the Gladiators

Considering the recent form of both teams, the prediction leans towards another victory for the Quetta Gladiators. Their momentum and balanced squad make them a formidable opponent for a struggling Islamabad United side. While United possess the firepower to turn things around, their recent performances suggest a lack of consistency. The Rawalpindi pitch is expected to favour batsmen, potentially leading to a high-scoring affair. Yet, the all-around power of the Gladiators and present confidence provide them with a slight advantage in this vital match.
