Pakistan-Bangladesh Series Likely to go Ahead as Planned: Reports

Schedule For Pakistan-Bangladesh T20I Series Revealed

Good news for cricket fans in Pakistan, as according to reliable media sources, the five-match T20I series against Bangladesh is officially on.

Despite earlier whispers about a possible postponement due to regional tensions, both boards have confirmed the tour will proceed as scheduled, with the action kicking off on May 25 in Faisalabad.

Sources from both the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have assured that logistics, security, and planning are all on track. The earlier concerns, mostly tied to cross-border unease, have been swept aside after the recent ceasefire calmed nerves.

Pakistan-Bangladesh Series Likely to go Ahead as Planned

A Busy Month Ahead for Bangladesh

Before landing in Pakistan, Bangladesh will first head to Sharjah for a quick two-match T20I series against the UAE.

That mini-series kicks off on May 17, with the second game to follow on May 19. Consider it a warm-up—short, sharp, and useful.

After that, they’re set to arrive in Pakistan on May 21.

Leadership Shuffle: Litton Das Takes the Helm

One of the key storylines heading into these tours is Bangladesh’s new leadership combo.
With Najmul Hossain Shanto stepping down earlier this year, experienced wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das has been named the T20I captain for both the UAE and Pakistan tours.

Backing him up will be off-spinner Mahedi Hasan, who’s been appointed vice-captain.
It’s a fresh look for a team in transition—one eye on stability, the other on future T20 World Cup plans.

Pakistan-Bangladesh Record

Let’s be honest—Bangladesh has had a tough time cracking the Pakistan code in T20Is.

Out of 19 T20I encounters, Pakistan has won 16, with Bangladesh pulling off just three wins. History favours the Men in Green, but cricket has a funny way of rewriting scripts when you least expect it.

Here’s the schedule of the series:

  • May 25 – 1st T20I at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad (8:00 PM local time)
  • May 27 – 2nd T20I at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad (8:00 PM)
  • May 30 – 3rd T20I at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore (8:00 PM)
  • June 1 – 4th T20I at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore (8:00 PM)
  • June 3 – 5th T20I at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore (8:00 PM)

US And China Praise ‘Constructive’ Trade Talks in Geneva, Details To Be Released Monday

US and China wrapped up two days of trade discussions in Geneva with a positive tone. US officials called it a “deal” to help reduce the trade deficit. Meanwhile, Chinese leaders said they reached an “important consensus” and agreed to launch a new economic dialogue forum.

Joint Statement Coming Monday

Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng confirmed that both sides will issue a joint statement on Monday. Vice Commerce Minister Li Chenggang added that it would include “good news for the world.”

US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the countries made “substantial progress.” Greer stated, “It’s a deal we struck with our Chinese partners.” He added that the speed of the agreement showed their differences “were not so large as maybe thought.”

China’s Response and WTO Support

Vice Premier called the talks “candid, in-depth and constructive,” and confirmed “substantial progress” was made. WTO Director General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala welcomed the outcome and urged both nations to continue building on this momentum.

Both sides agreed to create a new consultation platform for trade and economic issues. This comes after previous attempts like the 2023 Economic Working Group, which had little impact.

Context of Trump’s Tariffs

This was the first in-person meeting between top officials since Trump began raising tariffs in 2024. He started with a 20% duty in February, followed by 34% in April. Later hikes stalled $600 billion worth of trade. On Friday, Trump said an 80% tariff “seems right.”

Greer credited the outcome to solid groundwork before the meeting. He said the deal would help address the national emergency that Trump declared over the growing trade deficit.

Future Deals on the Horizon

The White House issued a short statement repeating Bessent and Greer’s comments. Economic adviser Kevin Hassett said China is “very, very eager” to fix trade ties. He noted that additional deals are likely, including a recent one with the UK that kept 10% tariffs in place. Hassett also mentioned that Greer and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick are working on around two dozen upcoming agreements.

Trump, himself, shared his thoughts on Truth Social. He called the talks “a total reset… in a friendly, but constructive, way.”

End of an Era: Virat Kohli Bids an Emotional Goodbye to Test Cricket

has-virat-kohli-lost-his-edge-cricket-virat-kohli-out-of-fab-four-ricky-ponting-thinks-so

On a quiet Monday morning, Virat Kohli, the heartbeat of India’s batting lineup for over a decade, announced his retirement from Test cricket, bringing the curtain down on a glorious 14-year red-ball journey.

The post came, fittingly, on Instagram. No grand press conference. No farewell match. Just Kohli, in his own words:

“It’s been 14 years since I first wore the baggy blue in Test cricket. Honestly, I never imagined the journey this format would take me on…”

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Virat Kohli (@virat.kohli)

He continued with words drenched in gratitude, describing Test cricket as something “deeply personal”, a grind that shaped him, and a format that gave him more than he could ever ask for.

The Journey: From Kingston to Greatness

Kohli’s debut came in 2011 against the West Indies in Kingston. It wasn’t a dream start—scores of 4 and 15. Modest, even forgettable, if we’re being honest. But like any great story, his rise wasn’t immediate—it was earned.

Later that year, against the same West Indies at Wankhede, he gave us a peek into his potential with scores of 52 and 63. Then came the brutal 2011-12 Australia tour—India got thrashed 4-0, but Kohli walked away with his first Test century at Adelaide, announcing that he belonged.

Virat Kohli’s Test Career by the Numbers

Let’s not sugarcoat it—Kohli didn’t just play Test cricket. He redefined it for a new generation.

  • 🏏 Matches: 123
  • 🧢 Runs: 9,230
  • 💯 Centuries: 30
  • 🧮 Average: 46.85
  • ✨ Half-centuries: 31

Each run was earned, often in hostile conditions, against quality bowling attacks, with the weight of a billion expectations on his shoulders.

Virat Kohli As Captain

If you thought Kohli’s batting was fierce, his captaincy was fire. He led India in 68 Test matches, winning 40—the most by any Indian Test captain ever. He didn’t just break records, he built a ruthless red-ball unit that believed it could win anywhere.

His captaincy win tally places him fourth on the all-time list of most successful Test captains:

  1. Graeme Smith – 53 wins
  2. Ricky Ponting – 48 wins
  3. Steve Waugh – 41 wins
  4. Virat Kohli – 40 wins

Read More: Gautam Gambhir Comments on India-Pakistan Cricketing Ties

But the real magic of Kohli’s Test career can’t be measured in numbers alone. It was in the way he wore his heart on his sleeve. The way he screamed in joy after a wicket. The way he walked out with a swagger that said, “I’m here to win.”

Test cricket, for Kohli, wasn’t just a format—it was a fight, a philosophy, a badge of honor.

The Legacy Lives On

Now 37, Virat Kohli leaves behind a legacy that will be hard to match. Not just because of the numbers, but because of the impact. Because of the attitude shift. Because of the intensity.

He made Test cricket cool again. He made kids dream of wearing whites in a T20-obsessed world. And most importantly, he gave Indian cricket an identity on the global red-ball stage—aggressive, fearless, unapologetic.

He will still be around in white-ball cricket, but Test cricket will miss him—the passion, the sledges, the cover drives, the clenched fists after centuries.

“As I step away from this format, it’s not easy – but it feels right,” he wrote.

Taylor Swift Named in the ‘It Ends With Us’ Lawsuit!

Taylor Swift Named in the ‘It Ends With Us’ Lawsuit!
Taylor Swift Named in the ‘It Ends With Us’ Lawsuit!

In a shocking turn of events, Taylor Swift has been drawn into a hotly contested court battle between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively. The war, which surrounds the movie It Ends With Us, now involves a subpoena to the international music superstar. Swift’s camp deems it a publicity stunt.

Why is Swift Involved?

Most Swifties have been wondering the same thing: Why is Taylor Involved?

Baldoni sued for 179 pages in January 2025. Among the documents, he included text messages in which Swift’s name was mentioned. One of the messages said, “I really love what you did. I would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor.” Another one, purportedly from Lively, likened herself to Game of Thrones character Daenerys. She explained that her “dragons”–presumed to refer to Ryan Reynolds and Taylor Swift—defend the people she battles for. That was enough for Baldoni’s legal team to subpoena Swift as a witness.

Swift Pushes Back

Swift’s spokesperson denied any deep involvement. “She never set foot on the set,” the statement said. “didn’t help cast, edit, or direct. She only licensed one song.” The statement called the subpoena “tabloid clickbait” and accused Baldoni’s team of using her name for attention.

Lively’s crew wasn’t silent either. They blamed Baldoni for taking a serious harassment case and turning it into a media spectacle. “This is not Barnum and Bailey’s,” her rep said. “This is about women’s rights and reputations.”

Lively sued Baldoni in December 2024 for sexual harassment and retaliation. She said he attempted to ruin her reputation. Baldoni sued Lively and Reynolds for defamation and civil extortion in response. He’s seeking $400 million in damages.

What Happens Next?

Lively’s attorney, Mike Gottlieb, said she will testify. “She’s ready to testify under oath,” he said. The trial is set for March 2026.

Meanwhile, Swift’s camp is holding its ground. Her representatives claim she wasn’t involved in the creative process and viewed the film only after it came out. “This has nothing to do with Taylor,” her rep maintained.

As the courtroom saga plays out, one thing is certain—this case is hardly finished. And now, one of the world’s largest stars, Taylor Swift, is in the middle of it all.

Who Was Sabu? Remembering the WWE Wrestling Legend Who Passed Away at 60

The wrestling world mourns the passing of Terry Brunk, alias Sabu, who died on May 11, 2025, aged 60. A hardcore wrestling fixture, Sabu left behind a legacy forged in blood, barbed wire, and stunning danger.

Born into Wrestling Royalty

Sabu was born on December 12, 1964, in Staten Island, New York, of Lebanese, Irish, and German descent. Trained by his legendary uncle, The Sheik (Ed Farhat), Sabu’s professional wrestling career started in 1985. At first promoted as “Sabu the Elephant Boy,” he abandoned the nickname and created a terrifying image that would last for decades.

He gained international recognition in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), where he was a two-time World Heavyweight Champion. His weapon-intensive, high-risk style defined ECW’s violent look during the 1990s. Sabu also won the ECW World Television Title and the Tag Team titles three times, squaring off against icons like Tazz, The Sandman, and Rob Van Dam in classic bouts.

WWE and Beyond

In 2006, Sabu signed with WWE when they reinstated the ECW brand. He wrestled at WrestleMania 23, fighting as an ECW Original. Although his stint with WWE was brief, it made him a mainstream name. Sabu also fought in WCW, TNA, AAA, and New Japan Pro-Wrestling, earning a cult following wherever he performed.

In 2023, Sabu appeared in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), such as in a memorable special enforcer role in a Chris Jericho vs. Adam Cole match. His last match took place in April 2025, against Joey Janela, ending a career that lasted for four decades.

A Legacy that Lives Forever

After his death, AEW and WWE released emotional statements, labelling Sabu as a “pioneer” of hardcore wrestling. Taz, one of his all-time greatest opponents, stated, “I would not have had the career I have had if it wasn’t for Sabu.” Rob Van Dam paid him tribute by doing Sabu’s signature pointing gesture.

Known as “the suicidal, homicidal, genocidal, death–defying maniac,” Sabu was more than just a wrestler—he was an icon of rebellion and fire. Although passed on, his legacy will forever fuel the hardcore attitude of wrestling’s future generations.

PSX Rallies Almost 10,000 Points Following Ceasefire and IMF Support

PSX Rallies Almost 10,000 Points Following Ceasefire and IMF Support
PSX Rallies Almost 10,000 Points Following Ceasefire and IMF Support (1)

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) saw an enormous jump on Monday after a signal of diminishing tensions between Pakistan and India. The KSE-100 index benchmark rose intra-day by a record 9,928 points to a day’s high of 117,104.11 points. This was the largest one-day movement in index points ever.

The index rallied more than 9% from its last close of 107,174.63 points. The resultant steep rise halted trade momentarily as the market’s regulations during runaway fluctuation made provision for.

Experts attributed the increase to happen after investors took on a rosier outlook, post-newspapers breaking news on Pakistan and India observing a ceasefire. This put less fear of escalating hostilities between the countries.

According to statistics from PSX, over 60 million shares were traded, and turnover was more than Rs4.37 billion before trading stopped. Trading recommenced at 10:42 am.

In the morning session, the stock market had an eventful day. The KSE-100 index had shed 6,939 points, or 6.1% week-on-week, closing nearly 107,000. That was mainly due to growing tensions between Pakistan and India.

Though on Friday, there was a recovery partially, overall trends remained negative. On a day-to-day basis, the PSX had a shaky start to the week. The KSE-100 index closed almost flat after dropping 1,036 points in early trading. By the end of the session, the index was down by just 11.70 points, closing at 114,102.

On Tuesday, the market dipped once more. Hopes of investors after State Bank’s 100bps rate cut evaporated due to rising Pakistan-India tensions and a threat by Moody’s regarding economic stability. The index shed 534 points on that day.

The trend fell on Wednesday. The market opened with a sharp dip, losing more than 6,500 points on account of higher border tensions.

The market recovered strongly on Friday. The KSE-100 index surged around 3,650 points, undoing some of Thursday’s huge losses. Despite that, the week ended with a cumulative decline of 6,939 points or 6.08%.

The index remained predominantly in the red during the week due to geopolitical concerns and the specter of increased conflict, said Arif Habib Limited (AHL).

The Conjuring Prepares its Conclusion: Last Rites Trailer is Everything You’d Wish For!

The Conjuring Prepares its Conclusion: Last Rites Trailer is Everything You’d Wish For!
The Conjuring Prepares its Conclusion: Last Rites Trailer is Everything You’d Wish For!

The Warrens are back for one last fright. Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have officially released the trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites, the final chapter in the spine-tingling franchise that began over a decade ago. With this instalment, fans brace themselves for a haunting farewell to Ed and Lorraine Warren, the paranormal investigators who became household names through their terrifying encounters with the supernatural.

More on the Trailer of the Last Conjuring Movie

The official trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites shows paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) back in action as they tackle another frightening case. This time, Wilson and Farmiga are joined by Ben Hardy (“Bohemian Rhapsody”) and Mia Tomlinson (“The Beast Must Die”), who are new to the franchise.

From the opening moments, the Last Rites trailer delivers the ominous atmosphere fans have come to expect. The visuals are drenched in shadow and suspense, echoing the early tones of The Conjuring (2013) while layering in the emotional weight of a story nearing its finale. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as the Warrens, visibly older, wiser and more burdened by the horrors they’ve faced. Their chemistry remains electric, grounding the story in the humanity that has always made these films more than just ghost stories.

While the first two Conjuring movies were helmed by James Wan, both The Devil Made Me Do It and Last Rites feature Michael Chaves in the director’s chair. He has also directed other films in the Conjuring universe, including The Curse of La Llorona and The Nun II. The screenplay for Last Rites was written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who shares a story credit with Wan.

Familiar Demons, Final Battles

The trailer teases the return of familiar entities—including the iconic nun-demon Valak—as well as a new, more sinister presence that threatens not just the Warrens, but everything they stand for. There are callbacks to earlier films in the universe, suggesting that Last Rites will serve as a culminating confrontation with the dark forces that have long plagued them. Fans will also recognise Easter eggs from Annabelle, The Nun, and The Curse of La Llorona, hinting that this final film could tie all narrative threads together into one climactic showdown.

Familiar Demons, Final Battles

James Wan’s Legacy Lives On

Though James Wan isn’t directing this instalment, his imprint is unmistakable. Michael Chaves (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) returns to the director’s chair, and Wan’s signature style—atmospheric dread, slow-building terror, and morally complex characters—permeates every frame of the trailer. The cinematography is richly textured, with Gothic imagery and religious symbolism adding layers of meaning to the scares.

Farewell and Unanswered Questions

Perhaps the most striking element of the trailer is its emotional core. As the Warrens face their greatest challenge yet, questions arise: Will they both survive? What will their legacy be? And what ultimate truth lies behind the veil of the paranormal? With glimpses of old case files, tearful goodbyes, and chilling premonitions, Last Rites promises to be not just a horror film, but a poignant, soul-shaking farewell.

The movie is going to embrace our theatres on September 5th 2025. Are you ready to say goodbye?

Three Members Of A Family Killed After Speeding Dumper Hits Car In Karachi

Three members of a family were killed when a speeding dumper rammed into their car in Karachi. The fatal road accident occurred on Monday.

The incident occurred at the Northern Bypass in Surjani Town, Karachi. A speeding dumper crashed into a car, killing three members of a family. A father and his son were among the deceased.

Rescue officials added that all the victims resided in Gul Muhammad Qalandrani Goth, which is within the Manghopir area.

Traffic accidents involving heavy vehicles in Karachi continue to trouble the city despite numerous efforts by the Sindh government to address them.

In yet another recent crash, a dumper crushed a mother and daughter to death in Chiniot.

Another road accident occurred close to Boulton Market in Karachi early Sunday. A trailer drove over two young men and killed them. The victims were residents of Usmanabad in the Lyari area, the police said. They were Noor Muhammad and Zahid.

The crowd at the scene was enraged and attempted to beat up the trailer driver, Abid Ali. The police intervened and arrested him, though.

Karachi Bans Illegal Cattle Markets Under Section 144

Karachi Bans Illegal Cattle Markets Under Section 144

Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha 2025, Karachi authorities have taken strict steps to regulate the sale of sacrificial animals. The Commissioner has banned all unauthorised cattle markets, allowing sales only at 14 officially approved locations across the city’s seven districts.

Why the Ban?

This move aims to prevent traffic jams, public crowding, and hygiene issues caused by roadside animal markets. In previous years, unregulated markets led to serious management problems, especially when traders brought in hundreds of thousands of animals from across Pakistan.

Strict Enforcement Ordered

The Karachi Commissioner has directed district administrations to take firm action against violators. Any attempt to set up illegal cattle markets will face immediate consequences. He emphasised that maintaining control is essential during the Eid season, when cattle trading reaches its peak.

Markets Must be Well-Prepared

Approved market managers must ensure proper facilities for buyers and sellers. This includes:

  • Designated parking areas to avoid road blockages

  • Continuous cleanliness to prevent diseases and foul smells

  • Security arrangements to ensure safe transactions

Authorities have made it clear—any negligence will not be tolerated.

District officers and relevant departments will monitor the city closely. They are responsible for responding to complaints swiftly and ensuring full compliance with the rules.

Goal: A Safer, Smoother Eid Season

This decision is part of a broader effort to keep the city orderly and safe during Eid. With proper regulation, both residents and livestock traders can experience a hassle-free and hygienic environment.

Pakistan Observes Youm-e-Tashakur for Military Operation Success

Today, Pakistan observes Youm-e-Tashakur, a day of gratitude, following the success of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the day to honour the armed forces for their swift and powerful response to India’s recent aggression.

The Prime Minister’s Office, through its Media Wing, praised the operation as a “strong and coordinated response.” It claimed the mission clearly displayed Pakistan’s superiority in every aspect. Across the nation, people are organising events to thank Allah Almighty, salute the bravery of soldiers, and foster unity.

In his official message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif encouraged citizens and religious leaders to offer Nawafil (special prayers) for the martyrs and veterans of the operation. “The nation will never forget the sacrifices of the armed forces,” he declared. He reaffirmed that the people stand united with their army.

Tensions between Pakistan and India had sharply escalated after the April 22 attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which left 26 people dead. India blamed Pakistan-based groups but failed to provide evidence.

On April 23, India responded by closing the Wagah border crossing, suspending Pakistani visas, and freezing the Indus Waters Treaty. Pakistan condemned these actions as an “act of war” and also shut the Wagah crossing in return.

India Sends Warships Closer to Karachi After Cross-Border Clashes

India Sends Warships Closer to Karachi After Cross-Border Clashes
India Sends Warships Closer to Karachi After Cross-Border Clashes

Tensions between Pakistan and India have increased as India sends warships with cruise missiles closer to Pakistan’s coastline. According to The Telegraph, the Indian Navy has sent its western fleet into the northern Arabian Sea, putting it within range of Karachi — a major port city and the base of Pakistan’s naval headquarters.

The fleet includes an aircraft carrier, destroyers, frigates, and anti-submarine ships. Some of these vessels are reportedly equipped with BrahMos missiles, which carry a 300kg warhead and can hit targets up to 500 miles away at high speed.

India’s move came after it claimed to have stopped a large number of Pakistani missiles and drones that were allegedly aimed at 15 of its cities. Pakistan denied this, saying it had instead intercepted 48 Indian drones.

Explosions in India

On Friday, at least 10 explosions were heard near Srinagar International Airport in Indian-controlled Kashmir. Loud blasts and sirens were also reported in Jammu, causing panic and power cuts. Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah wrote on X that he could hear “intermittent sounds of blasts, probably heavy artillery.”

Artillery fire continued through the night along the Line of Control (LoC), with over two dozen civilians reportedly killed since May 7. Earlier this week, India carried out airstrikes with 80 fighter jets, claiming to destroy nine training camps. Pakistan denied the camps’ existence and said the strikes killed 31 civilians, damaged mosques, and hit a power station. Pakistan also said it shot down several Indian jets, including three Rafales.

During a press briefing in Rawalpindi, Pakistan Army spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry accused India of “trying to set a dangerous new precedent.” He showed photos of children reportedly killed in the Indian strikes and stated, “Pakistan will retaliate — at a time, place, and method of its choosing.”

Diplomatic talks have started. India’s foreign secretary reached out to his Pakistani counterpart to offer condolences and called for both sides to lower tensions. Talks with India’s foreign minister also focused on fighting terrorism.

Zee Zindagi Deletes All? India’s Bold Move Delays Fawad Khan’s Abir Gulaal

Fawad Khan, the heartthrob who has worked in both Pakistani and Indian films, was set to make a comeback to Indian screens after years.

In a dramatic turn of events, India has stepped up its cultural and digital war against Pakistani content, putting Fawad Khan’s Abir Gulaal on hold. The decision, reportedly a reaction to rising geopolitical tensions, has generated widespread debate on censorship, nationalism, and the future of cross-border art.

Abir Gulaal Shelved Indefinitely

Fawad Khan, the heartthrob who has worked in both Pakistani and Indian films, was set to make a comeback to Indian screens after years. Opposite Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor, his appearance in Abir Gulaal was a much-awaited spectacle for fans across borders.

A Cross-Border Love Story in Limbo

Scheduled for release on May 9, Abir Gulaal was a romantic drama about love and identity. But after the Pahalgam tragedy on April 22, the release of the film was indefinitely postponed. The film is now embroiled in a geopolitical shootout with its future in question.

Zee Zindagi Wipes Content Clean

Zee Zindagi, a platform that was much feted for introducing Pakistani serials to Indian audiences, removed all its YouTube content overnight. This extreme action followed a government advisory asking digital platforms to delete Pakistani-origin content at once.

Zee Zindagi had established itself as a bridge of culture, bringing Pakistani storytelling to Indian viewers. From Humsafar to Zindagi Gulzar Hai, its programming slate was valued. Now, it’s been wiped clean, removing years of cooperation and mutual respect.

The Role of Operation Sindoor in Escalating Tensions

Indo-Pak tensions escalated after Operation Sindoor, a military operation by India on nine spots in Pakistan, killed innocent civilians in the wee hours of May 6-7. The action came on the heels of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals.

Whereas the military is directed towards national security, its aftershocks tend to touch the softer aspects, such as art, film, and cultural exchange. Therefore, cooperation between Indian and Pakistani artists has been relegated to the back burner.

The MIB Advisory: What it Means

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) instructed all OTT platforms and digital intermediaries to suspend the availability of content that is from Pakistan. The instruction ranged from web series and movies to songs and podcasts.

Subscription-based or free, whatever it is, the advice was that everything that has Pakistani origins needs to be removed. Although the notice is non-binding, it’s being taken seriously on all platforms.

The Reaction from OTT Giants

Although the advisory is not a legal directive, streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+ Hotstar have been scouring their catalogues for anything that might trigger under the present directive.

YouTube and Spotify, being digital intermediaries, should also take action. Pakistani creators’ and artists’ content is being taken down or geo-blocked, affecting both the audience and the creative output.

The Blockade of Pakistani Celebrities

Some of the leading Pakistani stars, Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Abida Parveen, and Ali Zafar, have also had their Indian social media accounts and posts barred or blocked.

In a world already segregated, art had been a thin, delicate thread that stitched people together. In light of India’s choice to close down Pakistani content and postpone films like Abir Gulaal, that thread appears to be unravelling. Regardless of whether it’s an extended delay or an outright freeze, one thing is certain: the stage is empty, and the tales are untold.

“This Isn’t Journalism, It’s Cartoon Network” – Shahid Afridi Blasts Indian Media

This Isn’t Journalism, It’s Cartoon Network - Shahid Afridi Blasts Indian Media

Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi openly criticised Indian media for how they report on military conflicts. On X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Indian media reminds me of Cartoon Network. They are loud, animated and never take their facts seriously.” He posted this after reports claimed Indian strikes killed several Pakistani civilians, including women and children.

Afridi’s sarcastic tone reflected the frustration many Pakistanis feel toward Indian news coverage. Many social media users in Pakistan supported his comments, accusing Indian media of spreading false war narratives and increasing tension.

Deadly Attack in IIOJK Raises Tensions

On April 22, a bombing in Pahalgam, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), killed 26 people. India blamed Pakistan-based groups for the attack but provided no evidence. Pakistan rejected the claim.

India Responds with Closures and Suspensions

Following the attack, India closed the Wagah border on April 23, suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, and canceled visas for Pakistani citizens. In response, Pakistan also shut the border and warned that any disruption to water flow would count as “an act of war.”

Explosions and Retaliatory Strikes Shake Pakistani Cities

On Wednesday, explosions hit multiple cities in Pakistan, including Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Muridke, and Bahawalpur. Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Pakistani military spokesperson, confirmed Indian airstrikes in those areas. Pakistan quickly hit back with its own air and ground operations.

Pakistani forces shot down five Indian fighter jets, including four Rafales, within the first hour of their response. “Pakistan might have brought down 10 Indian fighter aircraft,” Lt Gen Chaudhry said in a press conference. “But Pakistan exercised restraint.”

Media’s Silence on Indian Losses

Indian media did not report much on the situation. The Hindu, one of India’s top newspapers, initially published a report saying three jets were shot down, but later removed it. CNN reported that the loss of Rafales could hurt India’s air strength.

Experts said the conflict acted as a trial for both Western and Chinese military tech. Pakistan deployed Chinese-made J-10C jets, considered a direct counter to India’s French Rafales.

Officials Confirm Drone and Jet Losses

A senior French intelligence official told CNN that Pakistan had indeed downed one Rafale jet. Pakistan’s military also claimed it destroyed 25 Israeli-made Harop drones used by India. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), they used both electronic jamming and direct fire to bring down the drones.

Pakistan Army Destroys Three More Indian Posts Along LoC

Pakistan Army Destroys Three More Indian Posts Along LoC

Pakistan Army has given a strong response to recent Indian aggression along the Line of Control (LoC), destroying three more Indian posts, according to a report by the state-run news agency APP, quoting security sources.

The report says the Pakistan Army neutralised several enemy posts through a coordinated action in different areas. Specifically, in the Kellar sector, the Meheree post located at Khalsha Top was destroyed. At the same time, in the Rakh Chaqri sector, Dana Top and Mound posts were also targeted and eliminated.

These actions are part of Pakistan’s ongoing retaliatory efforts and have reportedly caused heavy losses to the Indian side. Security officials stated that the successive destruction of Indian posts has left the enemy disorganised and confused.

Pakistan Armed Forces have also shot down a total of seventy-seven Israeli-made drones sent by India in recent days. According to security sources, twenty-nine drones were downed by yesterday evening, and forty-eight more were destroyed since last night. These drones were allegedly being used to target civilian and military areas inside Pakistan.

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed that Pakistan’s air defense systems are actively tracking Indian drone activity. He said, “Pakistan’s air defense systems are continuously monitoring Indian drones, with the capability to track even small unmanned aerial vehicles.”

He further added, “All drones entering Pakistani airspace are constantly observed on radar, and operational protocols are in place to neutralise them, in civilian areas or near commercial flight paths.”

These developments follow a rise in cross-border tensions after India launched aggressive actions across the LoC, which Pakistan has countered both on the ground and through aerial defense systems.

India, Pakistan, and the Path Toward Nuclear Disarmament

India, Pakistan, and the Path Toward Nuclear Disarmament
India, Pakistan, and the Path Toward Nuclear Disarmament

In 1945, when the US dropped a uranium bomb on Hiroshima during World War II, and simultaneously a larger plutonium bomb over Nagasaki three days later, the world shook. Estimated deaths of 140,000 and 74,000, respectively, were reported along with an increased rate of cancer and chronic illness among survivors. It’s not like the world had never seen wars or conflicts, but it had never seen something so drastic.

Thus, the United Nations proposed the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and promote peaceful nuclear energy use.

What is the Treaty of Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)?

Signed in 1968, the Treaty of the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) is one of the most important international agreements in modern history. It was enforced in 1970 as a result of the Cold War to stop the spread of nuclear weapons and ensure that nuclear technology is used only for peaceful purposes. The main objectives of the treaty include:

  • Stop countries that don’t have nukes from building or buying them.
  • Stop countries that already have them from helping others get them.
  • Allow the nation to only use nuclear technology for energy, health, and research.
  • Inspect regular inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to ensure that no one is secretly building weapons.
  • Ensuring that nuclear-armed countries work toward reducing and eventually eliminating their nuclear arsenals.

  • In the long term, create a world free of nuclear weapons.

191 nations throughout the world signed the treaty, including some of the biggest nuclear-armed nations in the world, like the United Stated, the United Kingdom, France, China and Russia. However some nuclear powers refused to sign it, including Israel, South Korea and two very familiar names: Pakistan and India.

Why did Pakistan and India refuse to sign the NPT?

Pakistan didn’t always want to refuse the treaty; in fact, for the longest time, it was enthusiastic about arms control and disarmament. But things changed quickly, and it changed its strategy and refused to sign the NPT. The main reason behind this shift was security. During the Sino-Indian War in 1962, USA’s aid to India despite the country’s non-alignment with the western bloc, created distrust and disappointment. Pakistan began to realise that the US might be a greater support to India than it was Pakistan.

This distrust was further solidified when India and the US signed a treaty under which the US supplied uranium to India’s Power Station, thus helping India in becoming a nuclear power. And when India tested its nuclear weapons, Pakistan viewed it as a subsequent rejection of proposals for a nuclear-weapon-free zone in South Asia.

On May 18, 1974, India claimed that it has successfully tested a nuclear device, codenamed “Smiling Buddha
On May 18, 1974, India claimed that it had successfully tested a nuclear device, codenamed “Smiling Buddha.

On the other hand, India viewed the treaty as biased, dividing the world into ‘nuclear haves’ and ‘nuclear have-nots.’ Thus, the refusal of one country, either Pakistan or India, naturally put the other in a complicated position. Given the history of the two countries, neither could risk it.

Current Tensions and the Constant Nuclear Scare

As of 2025, India and Pakistan are once again on the brink of war. It’s not the first time the two nations are at a crossroads, threatening each other, promising a destruction the world would see. Considering that both nations are nuclear-armed, this threat becomes a lot more serious and rather scary for those who reside within the borders.

What if it comes down to it?

India and Pakistan have always been head-to-head when it came to nuclear weapons. They both became nuclear powers in 1998, and currently hold almost the same amount of nuclear arsenal.

Pakistan: Approximately 170 nuclear warheads

India: Approximately 175 nuclear warheads

While flaunting nuclear power might seem like a show of strength, history reminds us that the adrenaline rush is fleeting, and the consequences can last far longer. It took 30 years for Hiroshima and Nagasaki to fully recover because the radiation from the bombs contaminated the environment for decades.

Now, imagine for a second that India and Pakistan, in their rage, choose to take the nuclear path. What’s at stake? Densely populated cities like Delhi and Karachi might be the first target, and over 1 million people could be killed instantly. A Princeton simulation in 2020 predicted that if India and Pakistan used 100 nuclear weapons, there would be over 100 million deaths. Yes, let that sink in. Cities would be erased, be it Mumbai or Islamabad, significant rivers like the Indus and Ganga will be forever contaminated, fallout clouds will travel hundreds of kilometres a nuclear winter could even follow. Soot and smoke will block the sunlight, and crops worldwide will be affected, causing famine and food shortages.

It will no longer be a war between two nations; the entire world will be affected if it chooses to stay silent.

Is Nuclear Disarmament the Answer?

Yes. Nuclear weapons are built to scare enemies, but who is to guarantee that one will not use them? In World War II, the United States used it against Japan, and the world saw what followed. Robert J. Oppenheimer, the father of the nuclear bomb, stated, after seeing the horrifying consequences of his doing,

“Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.”

The quote highlights the destruction of the bomb and the profound realisation that followed, a little too late.

Before India and Pakistan suffer the same realisation, it’s about time the two sign the Treaty of the Non- Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and follow suit.

Lux Style Awards Cancelled Over Security Fears
Lux Style Awards Cancelled Over Security Fears

The glitz, the glamour, the red carpet moments; you’ll see none of it this year. Just hours before the Lux Style Awards 2025 had to illuminate Lahore, the plug was pulled. In a devastating announcement, the sudden cancellation of one of Pakistan’s most highly anticipated entertainment evenings was announced.

What Happened on May 7, 2025?

Already waiting at the scene were guests as the announcement took place around lunchtime. A brief but urgent notice was given by the organisers claiming “unavoidable security risks.” Shock, disappointment, and confusion. Guests, consisting of top stars and media men, were shocked. Some were even on the red carpet when it happened.

Rising Tensions Between Pakistan and India

The conflict between Pakistan and India worsened after India accused Pakistan of causing the Pahalgam attack. Following the baseless accusations, Indian forces conducted airstrikes on the morning of May 7, which claimed the lives of 31 civilians, including children. The sad event further fueled regional instability.

The very real threat of further escalation meant that having a public event like LSA became a serious safety risk. Organisers realised they couldn’t risk gambling with lives.

Why was the Event Cancelled Last Minute?

While the setting was ripe for celebration, the focus turned to making sure everyone involved, celebrities and crew members alike, was safe. The local authorities sounded an alarm that resulted in the cancellation of the event, insiders say. There were several intelligence warnings of potential disruptions.

From bomb threats to fears of targeted violence, the threat was just too great. Even strict security couldn’t promise complete safety.

Impact on Artists, Nominees, and the Industry

For others, particularly new nominees, this was a gut-wrenching defeat. Months of build-up, preparation, and emotional investment down the drain.

Stars, producers, and designers took to social media to show solidarity. The majority were in agreement that safety is more important than celebration, but the despair could not be helped.

Will the Event Be Rescheduled?

Until now, the team has not yet confirmed a new date. In their announcement, they only mentioned the cancellation “until further notice.”

Dubai or Karachi are also rumoured to host the rescheduled event, but there is no definite plan announced.

As there is increasing instability in the region, the organisers of events may have to rethink how and where such events are to be organised in the future.

The cancellation of the Lux Style Awards 2025 is more than a lost show; it’s an indication of the tumultuous times we live in. As much as glitz and celebration were anticipated, the decision by organisers to prioritise safety is a sobering reminder that peace is the ultimate prize we all need to work towards. Let’s look forward to better, safer times ahead—for art, for artists, and for all.

Pakistan Ministry, KPT X Accounts Hacked Amid Pak-India Political Tensions

Pakistan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Karachi Port Trust (KPT) have confirmed that their official accounts on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) were hacked overnight. In an official statement, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Economic Affairs clarified that any posts made during the breach were unauthorised and do not reflect the ministry’s official stance or policies.

A tweet was posted from the hacked account, which was not aligned with any official communication. No further details were provided about the content of the post.

Increasing Cyber Threats Amid Pak-India Tensions

This cyber incident occurred just two days after Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team issued a red alert regarding increasing cyber threats. The alert was issued in response to the growing military tensions between Pakistan and India. It warned that hackers might attempt to disrupt national networks and spread disinformation through fake messages, phishing and fabricated news stories.

The ministry confirmed that efforts are in progress to recover the compromised accounts and investigate the breach further.

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after a deadly attack took place on April 22, 2025, in Pahalgam, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), resulting in the deaths of 26 individuals. India blamed Pakistani elements without presenting any proof, a claim Pakistan rejected.

India then initiated “Operation Sindoor,” targeting several sites in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), leading to the death of 31 civilians, including women and children and injuries to 71 others.

In retaliation, the Pakistan Army launched an operation that downed five Indian fighter jets—three Rafales, one MiG-29, one SU-series aircraft and one Israeli-made Heron drone over Bhatinda, Jammu, Akhnoor, Srinagar, and Avantipur.

Following this, India deployed drones into Pakistani airspace. The Pakistan Army reported intercepting and shooting down 77 Israeli-made Herop drones aimed at both civilian and military targets.

Is Bill Gates Giving $200 Billion of His Fortune to the Poor?

Is Bill Gates Giving $200 Billion of His Fortune to the Poor?
Is Bill Gates Giving $200 Billion of His Fortune to the Poor?

In the world of philanthropy, few names are as influential and frequently cited as Bill Gates. As the co-founder of Microsoft and one of the wealthiest individuals on the planet, Gates has long attracted attention for his charitable giving through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. However, persistent rumours claim that Bill Gates is giving $200 billion of his fortune directly to the poor. Is this claim true? To an extent.

Bill Gates Giving $200bn of His Fortune

It is true that Bill Gates did indeed pledge on Thursday to give away $200 billion. But this will be done via his charitable foundation by 2045. In simpler words, Gates is not handing out cash to individuals, but he is dedicating an extraordinary portion of his wealth to solving the world’s most pressing problems through long-term, high-impact philanthropy.

Mr Gates said his eponymous foundation has already given $100bn (£75bn) towards health and development projects, and that he expects it will spend another $200bn, depending on markets and inflation, over the next two decades. Gates said he believed that this money will help achieve several of his goals, such as eradicating diseases like polio and malaria, ending preventable deaths among women and children and reducing global poverty.
“People will say a lot of things about me when I die, but I am determined that ‘he died rich’ will not be one of them,” he wrote in a blog post on Thursday.

He said he has been inspired to give away money by investor Warren Buffett and other philanthropists, however critics of his foundation say Mr Gates uses its charitable status to avoid tax and that it has undue influence over the global health system.

A Smarter Way to Give

Some critics argue that because Gates is not handing out money directly to the poor, he isn’t truly redistributing wealth. But this view ignores the power of systemic giving. Instead of providing temporary relief, Gates focuses on long-term solutions to root causes of poverty, disease, and inequality. The foundation has poured tens of billions into global health initiatives, such as eradicating polio, fighting malaria, and improving vaccine access. It also supports education reform, agricultural development, and clean sanitation efforts in some of the poorest regions on Earth.

This kind of philanthropy does more than help individuals—it transforms entire systems. By funding scientific research, building healthcare infrastructure, and supporting innovations that governments and markets overlook, Gates’ approach aims to make enduring changes that benefit millions.

Bill Gates Criticised Elon Musk and Trump

It seems like this pledge wasn’t any short of criticism either. The latest pledge is a sharp response to what Gates views as a global retreat from foreign aid, citing cuts by major donors including the U.S., U.K., and France.

Without naming him directly, Gates criticised former U.S. President Donald Trump’s withdrawal of international health funding, calling into question whether wealthy nations will continue to support vulnerable populations. The U.S. cuts have been overseen by Musk, who has publicly bragged about feeding the U.S. Agency for International Development “into the wood chipper,” and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Around 80% of USAID programmess are set to be cut; the agency spent $44 billion worldwide in fiscal 2023.

“The picture of the world’s richest man killing the world’s poorest children is not a pretty one,” Gates told the Financial Times. In this same interview with the Financial Times, Mr Gates raised the issue of cancelled grants to a hospital in Gaza Province, Mozambique, which Donald Trump erroneously claimed was funding condoms “for Hamas” in the Gaza Strip. Mr Musk later acknowledged the claim was wrong and said “we will make mistakes,” however the cost-cutting continued.

At least Someone Cares About the Poor

Yes, Bill Gates is not giving $200 billion directly to the poor. But it must also be noted that this doesn’t make his cause any less significant. Bill gates is one of the most prominent philanthropists in history, and his foundation plays a significant role in addressing global issues.

That said, we should be cautious about romanticising the billionaire saviour narrative. While philanthropy can supplement efforts to reduce poverty and promote health, it cannot and should not replace the responsibility of governments and societies to build just and equitable systems.
