Following months of tantalising rumours, Selena Gomez and producer Benny Blanco are said to be planning a wedding in September. Their relationship, which is built on artistic partnership, had flowered into engagement in December 2024.

Today, the couple has planned an intimate, A-list weekend wedding in Montecito, California. Fans are dying to know the details, guest, style, and date, all with a touch of Hollywood glamour. Here’s the breakdown.

A post shared by Selena Gomez (@selenagomez)

A Two-Day Montecito Celebration

The duo has allegedly finalised a two-day destination wedding in Montecito in September 2025. Montecito provides seclusion, picturesque scenery, and space for A-list friends and close family to stay and party together.

Overnight bags have already been requested from guests, which means the wedding is likely a multi-day, not a single-night, event. The setup takes the wedding to a mini-vacation, not merely a ceremony.

Though the invites were issued to close family and friends only, those invited are among Hollywood’s most prominent. Selena’s best friend since forever, Taylor Swift, is rumoured to be going with Travis Kelce. The rest include Selena’s Only Murders in the Building co-stars, Benny’s music contemporaries, and surprise A-list faces such as Ed Sheeran.

With guinea pig guests like these, the event combines closeness with worldwide attention, celebrity power without red carpet din.

Chill Vibes & Personalised Touches

Benny Blanco has called their wedding “chill but amazing,” which bodes for a laid-back, authentic vibe. Selena and Benny said they’re not in a hurry; they’re going “day by day,” allowing ideas to unfold naturally.

Cultural fusion is important as well: they will have a Jewish hora dance and serve challah bread as an option on the menu, but Selena won’t be converting. They’ll also have an intimate father-daughter dance, and it speaks volumes about the careful integration of family custom and happiness.

Choosing September wasn’t an accident. Selena’s autumnal schedule gets booked quickly, with Only Murders shooting and album commitments, and Benny has music and writing projects. By opting for the latter part of summer, they provide sufficient wiggle room ahead of busy seasons.

The timing also allows for the availability of celebrity guests, particularly Taylor Swift, who’s often on the move through tour and engagements.

Planning Style & Current Status

Even though the wedding is relatively near, the couple has maintained low-key planning so far. Benny has mentioned that they both like peaceful moments, cuddling, show-watching, and brainstorming fantasy weddings. Latest insider gossip, however, corroborates that actual invitations have been sent out, indicating solid commitment.

Benny teased that this summer they’ll officially begin outlining logistics, venue plan, accommodation, and menu, while keeping a laissez-faire ethos.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are avoiding sleazy glamour. They’re going for an emotional weekend getaway; dramatic, star-studded, and privately designed. If Taylor Swift flies in or Ed Sheeran stops by, the atmosphere will still be warm and centred on family, culture, and real connection.

In time, we’ll be witness to sophisticated details, but the essence is obvious: this wedding will be a manifestation of the couple’s artistic, laid-back, and ethnically rooted personality. Save the date in September, when Hollywood hospitality meets heartfelt celebration in Montecito.

Apple’s Foldable iPhone Could Arrive in 2026!

apples-foldable-iphone-could-arrive-in-2026

Apple is set to revolutionise its flagship with a foldable iPhone in 2026, something most fans have been looking forward to. Following years of cautious development and testing, sources claim Apple will introduce a high-end book-style foldable phone with the iPhone 18 lineup.

Here’s a detailed overview of what to expect

Launch Timeline and Availability

Apple expects to initiate production in late 2025, followed by full-scale launch in the second half of 2026, at the same time as the iPhone 18 launch. Supply-chain sources, such as Ming‑Chi Kuo, affirm that Foxconn will initiate trial production in Q3 2025.

Scaling up through early October, first production is at 15–20 million units within 2–3 years. However initial shipments could be only 3–8 million devices. That minimal output fits with its high-end price and Apple’s standard approach to dip the toe in before it plunges in.

Apples-foldable-could-arrive-by-2026
Apple’s Foldable could arrive by 2026

Design: Book-Style Layout & Crease-Free Display

The foldable iPhone will open like a book, similar to Samsung’s Z Fold range. It will have a big 7.8‑inch inner screen and a 5.5‑inch outer display, perhaps in a near‑4:3 ratio.

Apple allegedly selected Samsung Display’s OLED panels, focusing on a near crease‑free folding experience. Rumored thickness is approximately 4.5 mm unfolded, and 9–9.5 mm folded .

Expect premium materials: a titanium and stainless steel hinge alongside durable casing. Apple reportedly developed a liquid‑metal hinge, up to 2.5 times stronger than standard alloys, aiming to reduce wear and refine the users’ folding experience.

Its design prioritises longevity and user feel, something Apple emphasises in every product.

Biometric Innovations & Hardware Features

To accommodate the thin profile, Apple can substitute Face ID with side-mounted Touch ID. Two rear sensors and potentially an under-display front camera are included for cameras. Internally, it will utilise the newest A‑series chip and possibly a custom 5G modem, inheriting shared tech from the iPhone 17 Air series.

Pricing & Positioning

Apple’s foldable version will be its priciest to date when it launches. Initial estimates put it at US $1,800–2,500. UBS numbers indicate a bill-of-materials cost of around US $759, just below Samsung’s Fold SE, enabling Apple to enjoy healthy margins of 53–58% .

apples-foldable-version-will-be-its-priciest-to-date.
Apple’s foldable version will be its priciest to date.

Market Impact & Competition

Apple’s arrival might revive a languishing foldable segment. Following double-digit growth between 2019–2023, foldable adoption plateaued in 2024 and fell in 2025.

With Apple’s ecosystem and brand pull, a foldable iPhone might revive enthusiasm. Yet, it arrives in a crowded segment where Samsung’s Z Fold 7 already has high standards in display, AI capabilities, and camera features.

Apple’s foldable iPhone is a promise of cutting-edge innovation: a stylish form factor, high-end materials, crease-free screen, and top-end internal specs. Launched in late 2026 with a premium price tag, it is aimed at early adopters and enthusiasts.

Its initial limited production is a sign of Apple’s cautious strategy. If executed well, this action could revolutionise foldable devices and put pressure on others to follow suit. But to differentiate, Apple needs to deliver on durability, smooth-fold mechanics, and new software capability.

Ticket Trouble Hits Bangladesh-Pakistan T20Is, Fans Demand Clarity

ticket-trouble-hits-bangladesh-pakistan-t20is

Fans eager to buy tickets for the much-anticipated Pakistan vs Bangladesh T20I series found themselves locked out of the action on Monday, not at the stadium gates, but on their screens.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) launch of online ticket sales was supposed to be a smooth experience. Instead, it was a frustrating rollercoaster for thousands.

A Day of Digital Disappointment

With no clear announcement from BCB about the exact time of release, cricket lovers began flooding the eTicket platform from early morning. What greeted them? Blank screens, error messages and complete radio silence.

“I started trying to buy tickets around 10:00 am after hearing they’d be available online from July 15,” said Siam, a disappointed fan.

“I tried multiple times from both my phone and laptop, but the site just wouldn’t work. Even if tickets aren’t available, the site should at least provide a status update.”

Social media quickly filled with similar stories, as frustrated fans vented their anger about the lack of transparency and communication.

Confusion Cleared…

The confusion dragged on until late in the evening, when BCB Director Mahbub Anam finally broke the silence. He confirmed that ticket sales would begin at 10:00 pm, well after many fans had already spent hours trying in vain.

According to Anam, 70% of the tickets will be sold online through the eTicket website and mobile app, while the remaining 30% will be available at physical booths near the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on match days.

Pricing Breakdown and How to Buy

Despite the rocky start, BCB has offered a variety of ticket options for different budgets, ranging from Tk 300 to Tk 3,500. Whether you’re looking to cheer from the gallery or enjoy the match in style from the lounge, there’s something for everyone.

Here’s a quick breakdown of ticket prices:

  • Eastern Gallery: Tk 300
  • Northern Gallery: Tk 400
  • Shaheed Abu Sayed Stand & Club House: Tk 800
  • International Gallery: Tk 1,500
  • Lounge: Tk 3,500
  • Grand Stand: Tk 2,500

Fans can purchase tickets using credit cards or mobile wallets, and each account can book up to four tickets per match. Both digital and printed tickets will be accepted at the gates.

Actress Humaira Called 14 People, Got Silence Before Death

actress-humaira-called-14-people-got-silence-before-death

Model and actress Humaira Asghar attempted to contact 14 people, including her brother and a popular drama director, before her death, but no one responded. Sources said that she reached out on 7th October, 2024, shortly before her death.

Police found Humaira’s decomposed body on July 8 in her flat on the fourth floor of a residential building in Ittehad Commercial, DHA Phase VI. The post-mortem report said the body was eight to nine months old. This means she most likely died in October. Her mobile records show no calls after that month.

Investigators are examining her death from different angles. They said they will confirm the exact cause after they receive the forensic and chemical examination report. Officers recovered three mobile phones, a tablet, a diary, and some important documents from her apartment.

They checked her mobile records and discovered that Humaira contacted 14 different people on October 7. Among these people was a prominent TV drama director who now lives in Islamabad. Investigators have already contacted him, and they plan to record his formal statement soon.

Police continue to collect evidence and have not ruled out any possibility. They are also looking into why none of the 14 people responded to her calls or messages. Experts are reviewing data from her devices and the documents found in her flat to piece together what happened before her death.

The case has shocked the entertainment industry. One source involved in the investigation said, “The details will only become clear after all forensic reports and statements are complete.” Authorities have not yet confirmed if her death involved foul play or natural causes.

Ian Bishop Labels Shaheen Afridi as ‘Baby Starc’

ian-bishop-labels-shaheen-afridi-as-baby-starc

West Indies legend Ian Bishop made a glowing comparison between Pakistan’s pace sensation Shaheen Shah Afridi and Australia’s Mitchell Starc during commentary in the third Test between Australia and the Caribbean side.

And it wasn’t just a throwaway remark. It was a well-earned compliment wrapped in respect for what Shaheen brings to the game.

A Compliment That Carries Weight

Bishop referred to Shaheen as “Baby Starc” during commentary, highlighting his tendency to attack the stumps with full, swinging deliveries, just like Starc.

The comparison came as Starc was putting on a masterclass of his own, tearing through the West Indies batting line-up with five wickets in just 15 balls. But Bishop was quick to highlight that Shaheen, too, carries that same instinct.

“It’s well known with Mitchell Starc and Shaheen Shah Afridi, at his best, watch and guard your stumps,” Bishop said.

Both left-armers, both tall and fiery, and both love nothing more than aiming for the base of the stumps early in the innings.

Following in Legendary Footsteps

Bishop didn’t stop at just modern-day comparisons. He took the opportunity to name-drop some true bowling greats like Glenn McGrath, Curtly Ambrose, and Courtney Walsh – icons known for their relentless accuracy and discipline.

“McGrath terrorised batters around the world by hitting that perfect length again and again. Ambrose and Walsh did it too,” Bishop reflected. “And now you see Josh Hazlewood following that method.”

But it was what he said next that truly stood out.

“Then there’s Shaheen Afridi, the rising star. I thought he was Baby Starc at his fittest. A different style, but the same intent.”

Shaheen’s Rise is No Coincidence

It’s easy to forget just how far Shaheen Afridi has come. Since making his international debut in 2018, the left-armer has already racked up 345 international wickets, including seven five-wicket hauls across formats.

His standout performances at the 2021 T20 World Cup played a huge role in Pakistan’s campaign, and his efforts earned him the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year award.

“All Plot Promises Were Fake,” Says Arshad Nadeem

arshad-nadeem-reveals-fake-plot-promises-after-olympic-win

Pakistani Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem has said that some of the rewards promised to him after his win at the Paris Olympics 2024 turned out to be fake, especially the land plots.

Speaking to the media in London on Monday, Arshad said, “They showered me with announcements of rewards. If you look at the plots that were promised, they were all fake. But Alhamdulillah, I have received all the other prizes.”

He confirmed that the promised cash rewards, more than PKR 300 million, were given to him.

These included PKR 150 million from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, PKR 100 million and a car from the Punjab government, PKR 50 million from the Sindh government and PKR 5 million from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM.

Private sponsors also promised cars, fuel for life, and even an apartment.

Despite the broken promises, Arshad is staying focused on his goals.

“Right now, I am concentrating fully on myself because the targets ahead are very big,” he said.

He also shared that he continues to train young athletes in Pakistan when possible. “Our youth come to us for training, and Alhamdulillah, we do train them. But I keep my main focus on myself,” he added.

Cricket Returns to the Olympics – Here’s What We Know About LA 2028

cricket-returns-to-the-olympics-what-we-know-about-la-2028

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed the dates for men’s and women’s T20 tournaments at the Los Angeles (LA) Olympics in 2028, marking a historic return for the sport after more than a century.

A Long-Awaited Comeback

You read that right. The last time cricket featured at the Olympics was way back in 1900, at the Paris Games. That one-off match saw Great Britain beat France to take home gold. Since then, cricket has grown into a global sport, and now, it’s finally back on the Olympic stage.

When and Where?

The T20 cricket tournaments will run from July 12 to July 29, 2028, at the Pomona Fairplex, a venue located around 50 kilometres from downtown Los Angeles.

  • Women’s final: July 20
  • Men’s final: July 29
  • Most matchdays will feature double-headers, with start times at 9:00 AM and 6:30 PM local time.

Each tournament will have six teams, with 90 athletes per gender, allowing nations to field 15-player squads.

The group stage structure is a bit different from what fans are used to. Instead of a round-robin within each group, teams will play two sides from the opposite group, excluding the one that finished in the same corresponding position.

For example:

  • Group A winner plays Group B’s second- and third-placed teams
  • Group B winner does the same for Group A’s second and third

Every match will matter, as all results count toward final standings. The top two teams go head-to-head for the gold, while the third and fourth-placed sides fight for bronze.

Who’s Playing?

That’s still up in the air. The qualification pathway is yet to be finalised, but all eyes will be on the ICC Annual Conference in Singapore, which kicks off on July 17. One thing that’s likely? The ICC T20I team rankings could play a major role in deciding the participants.

There’s also a big question surrounding the USA’s qualification. As hosts, they might get a direct entry, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet. If they do, it could mean one less spot for other top cricketing nations.

Fuel Costs Reach New Peaks as Petrol Hits Rs272 Per Litre

fuel-costs-reach-new-peaks-as-petrol-hits-rs272-per-litre

On Tuesday, the government increased petroleum product prices by up to Rs11 per litre for the second half of July 2025. This is the second consecutive rise in petrol and diesel prices since the start of the fiscal year on July 1. On June 30, the government raised fuel prices by up to Rs 10 for the first fortnight of July.

According to a Finance Division notification, petrol price went up by Rs5.36, from Rs266.79 to Rs272.15 per litre. High-speed diesel (HSD) rose by Rs11.37, from Rs272.98 to Rs284.35 for July 16-31.

The government said, “The Government has decided to revise the prices of petroleum products for the fortnight starting July 16, based on the recommendations of OGRA & the relevant ministries.”

OGRA based its recommendation on Rs78.02 per litre petroleum levy (PL) on petrol and Rs77.01 on HSD. It also included an Inland Freight Equalisation Margin (IFEM) of Rs8.89 per litre on petrol and Rs6.04 on HSD.

Exchange rate adjustments were Rs3 per litre on petrol and Rs2 on HSD. Diesel, widely used in agriculture and freight transport, impacts goods and services. Petrol powers cars and motorcycles, and substitutes CNG in Punjab, where CNG stations depend on imported LNG.

The hike increases the gap between stagnant household incomes and rising living costs. Analysts warn that the lack of fiscal space or targeted subsidies means consumers will keep bearing the burden.

The government could have cut PL rates to give relief, but chose to maintain revenue targets. Consumers currently pay over Rs 77 per litre in PL. The budget also includes a carbon levy, which adds to fuel costs.

Earlier, on July 1, petrol and HSD prices increased significantly due to global volatility linked to the Iran-Israel war. Petrol rose by Rs8.36 to Rs266.79 and HSD by Rs10.39 to Rs272.98. Pakistan imports about 85% of its fuel needs, while only 15% comes from local crude oil.

Meanwhile, kerosene oil became cheaper by Rs3.10, and light diesel oil fell by Rs1.85. OGRA also announced a reduction in RLNG prices for July due to a small drop in delivered ex-ship prices.

Former PM Imran Khan’s Ex-Wife Introduces New Political Party in Karachi

former-pm-imran-khans-ex-wife-introduces-new-political-party-in-karachi

Reham Khan, the ex-wife of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, launched a new political party on Tuesday. She named it the Pakistan Republic Party. Reham said the party will represent women, farmers, and marginalised communities.

Reham is a journalist by profession. She entered politics in January 2015 after marrying Imran Khan, who then led the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Her involvement sparked controversy within PTI. Senior members opposed her role and later removed her from party affairs.

The marriage lasted less than a year. Reham later claimed political pressure caused the separation. Speaking at the Karachi Press Club, she said, “Today, I am sharing the name [of my party] with you, InshAllah, Pakistan Republic Party. It will speak of a republic, where there will be no room for mob behaviour. It will promote horizontal leadership and include those with working experience, what we call ‘lived experience’ in English.”

Reham built this party for ordinary citizens, especially women and farmers. She emphasised that the party will create policies based on real struggles. Reham described the initiative as a national mission, not just a political movement. She said the goal is to restore hope, dignity, and representation.

“This is a party for the public,” she posted later on X. “I will involve you, the public, in the manifesto, the direction, the operating structure.” She added, “I have already connected with amazing people that you and I have never heard of. They have been doing great work in their hometowns. These fresh faces will decide how to proceed.”

The announcement came as PTI began a 90-day “do or die” protest to demand Imran Khan’s release. The former Prime Minister remains in jail on multiple charges, which he says are politically motivated.

Is the New Superman Movie Anti-Israel?

is-the-new-superman-movie-anti-israel

Released in theatres last Friday, the latest Superman has the audience gripped, with many flocking into cinemas to enjoy the movie.

Starring David Corensweet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, the film depicted an acting masterclass. The reboot was praised for striking the ideal balance between the vibrancy of comic books and the grim realities of life.

However, James Gunn’s latest blockbuster hit has drawn aroused controversy for hinting at deeper sociopolitical sentiments.

Critics Felt that the Superman Movie Was Anti-Israel

To understand the controversy surrounding James Gunn’s latest Superman movie, we need to dissect and decipher the film’s plot.

Boravia, a high-tech and heavily militarised state, is shown inflicting severe damage to a much weaker neighbouring state in Jarhanpur, which is no match for Boravia’s might.

The relentless bombing of civilians in Jarhanpur, including children, has drawn an uncanny resemblance to the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, which has seen Jerusalem inflict unspeakable horrors.

Pro-Israel commentators have criticised the movie for fueling biased, anti-semitic sentiments under the cover of fiction and film.

On the contrary, activists have praised the movie for mirroring unfortunate global realities and drawing attention to the atrocities being committed by superpowers.

Director James Gunn has denied any association between his film and ongoing political narratives, stating that the movie revolves around basic human values.

Gunn stated:

“Yes, it’s about politics,” he said. “But on another level, it’s about morality. Do you never kill, no matter what, which is what Superman believes, or do you have some balance, as Lois believes? It’s really about their relationship and the way different opinions on basic moral beliefs can tear two people apart.”

Emphasising that the plot had moral principles at its core, Gunn intended to portray the Superman movie as a universal tale of kindness, empathy, and love.

The Divergence of Opinion Shows Subjectivity and Power of Art

Gunn, the creator, sees Superman as a morality tale. Political commentators and activists believe that the movie was touching upon ongoing political activities.

The divergence of opinion highlights the subjectivity and power of art. Each viewer watches the movie with a specific lens, which then allows them to compare the plot with their worldview.

That is precisely why art appeals to everyone. The audience has the power to make sense of the movie, which sometimes has the byproduct of generating debate.

This Pakistani Fintech Company Has Transformed How Cashflow and Salaries Work!

this-pakistani-fintech-company-has-transformed-cashflows

Waiting for payday can be stressful, especially when life throws you an unexpected bill or emergency. That’s exactly the kind of problem Abhi Tech, a Pakistani fintech startup, is solving and doing it in a way that feels almost too good to be true.

This fintech startup has financed over $500 million in just three years, and it’s just getting started.

What’s Abhi Tech About?

Launched in 2021 by Omair Ansari and Ali Ladhubhai, Abhi is making waves by giving people access to their earned salaries before payday through innovative, Shariah-compliant financial solutions. Sounds wild? It’s actually super simple.

Abhi allows employees to withdraw a portion of their earned but unpaid salary before the regular payday, addressing immediate financial needs and improving their financial well-being.

Whether it’s through the Abhi app, a WhatsApp message, or even a basic SMS, employees can transfer funds to their bank account in just a few taps.

Abhi Tech is A Big Deal

Most people in Pakistan live paycheck-to-paycheck, and when you don’t have savings or access to low-interest loans, one small crisis like a medical emergency or an overdue bill can throw everything off balance.

Abhi’s Earned Wage Access service gives employees the freedom to access what they’ve already earned. You’re not borrowing money, you’re just getting what’s already yours, just a little earlier. That’s a huge mental relief for thousands of people.

This service eases financial strain, allowing employees to handle emergencies, utility bills, healthcare, and more. It has also reduced dependence on high-interest loans for many workers.

Abhi goes beyond employee benefits and streamlines employer operations via:

  • Payroll Processing: Companies upload payroll data and disburse salaries with a single click.
  • Payroll Financing: Abhi bridges payroll cash flow gaps, ensuring timely salary payments even when client invoices are delayed.

This dual focus on employee welfare and institutional efficiency makes Abhi attractive to over 450 organisations across diverse sectors. It’s now valued at nearly $90 million and has even become Pakistan’s first fintech to issue a Shariah-compliant Sukuk bond.

What’s Next?

Abhi is already rolling out more features like:

  • AbhiKarobar (for small businesses),
  • AbhiPay (for fast payments),
  • And even exploring partnerships for insurance, savings, and investments.

Their goal? To give financial freedom to everyone, one paycheck at a time.

Abhi isn’t just another app; it’s a full-on shift in how money flows in Pakistan. For the first time, workers don’t have to wait or beg for their salaries. Employers also get support when they need it most. Both sides win.

In a country where every rupee counts, Abhi is making sure your money works for you before the month ends because financial ease should be a right, not a privilege.

The Biggest Celebrities Spotted at Wimbledon 2025

the-biggest-celebrities-spotted-at-wimbledon-2025

Wimbledon Tennis Championships, the most posh tennis tournament in the world, kicked off yesterday. And soon enough, it became less about tennis and more about the people watching it.

From royalty and rock stars to Hollywood legends and fashion’s biggest names, Wimbledon 2025 was a houseful.

Hollywood Celebs Who Stole the Show

It felt like the Oscars collided with Centre Court when Nicole Kidman showed up next to fashion queen Anna Wintour.

The pair oozed sophistication in crisp whites and polished blazers, making even the most fashion-forward players look underdressed.

Matthew McConaughey had his gentleman moment of the year when he stood up to greet Princess Kate. It was such a classy move that it went viral almost instantly because, of course, McConaughey is basically Southern royalty himself.

Oh, and let’s talk about the charming squad of Orlando Bloom, Henry Cavill, Paul Mescal, and Jodie Comer. Cavill in a linen suit? Ain’t no way anyone is focusing on the match after this.

And yes, Tom Holland was there too, blending into the crowd like a tennis-loving regular (which somehow made him even cooler). Meanwhile, Hugh Grant… fell asleep mid-match. Questionable to some and relatable to others.

Pop Culture Powerhouses

There was no shortage of music royalty either. Olivia Rodrigo showed up with boyfriend Louis Partridge, and they basically looked like the Gen Z version of a 90s rom-com couple. We loved seeing it.

Niall Horan brought the boy band charm, while Ellie Goulding, Stormzy, and Riz Ahmed brought the cool.

Royals in the Spotlight

Of course, Princess Kate was the scene-stealer (as always), making her first major public appearance after her recent health issues. She arrived with Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte, and the royal family looked picture-perfect.

Charlotte was adorably cheeky (seriously, those reactions were meme-worthy), while George looked like he was trying to analyze every serve like a sports analyst. It was their Wimbledon debut, and they crushed it.

Even Queen Camilla, Princess Beatrice, and Sarah Ferguson made appearances, reminding everyone that the monarchy knows how to turn up with quiet glam.

Was Tennis the Main Character Here?

I will be honest, Wimbledon 2025 felt like a celebrity gala disguised as a tennis tournament. And we loved every second of it.

The only thing missing? Maybe a surprise Beyoncé appearance. But hey, there’s always next year.

Golden Hands Built in Islamabad, But What was the Point?

golden-hands-built-in-islamabad-but-what-was-the-point

Islamabad has Faisal Mosque and Margalla Hills among its top historical attractions and go-to spots. However, the city recently bore witness to a unique monument that caused a stir on social media.

The sculpture saw two golden hands holding spheres. It was installed at the D-Chowk roundabout at Margalla Hills, supposedly to enhance the roadside experience of frequent travellers in the region.

However, the Golden Hand monument quickly became the subject of extensive ridicule and mockery online, and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) promptly ordered the sculpture’s removal.

Everyone Had Wild Guesses About the Symbolization of the Golden Hand Monument

Almost all historical landmarks in Pakistan have a background story and are meant to commemorate certain events. For example, Minar-e-Pakistan immortalises the Lahore Resolution passed in 1940, and its beauty is meant to inspire awe.

The Golden Hand monument was, however, an ambiguous symbol. Some interpreted the sculpture as a depiction of Pakistan’s power and might. The sight of the world in the nation’s palm suggested the state’s growth on a global scale.

Others found it suggestive, outlandish, and unintentionally provocative. Thus, many felt it was inappropriate to build such monuments for sightseeing. No one understood the meaning behind the sculpture, and local authorities did little to clear the confusion.

The CDA discovered that no official approval was taken for the monument’s design, and hence, directions were issued to remove the ambiguous sculpture from D-Chowk.

Although institutional action was the final nail in the coffin, the public outcry against the Golden Hand Monument may have prompted local authorities to take swift action.

Thoughtful Public Art Should Resonate with The Community

The Golden Hands sculpture in Islamabad was intended as a striking new landmark, but quickly became a symbol of poor planning and public backlash. Without clear symbolism or official approval from the CDA, and after online ridicule, it was destined for destruction.

The episode highlights the importance of thoughtful public art that resonates with the community and the risks when aesthetics, context, and process are ignored.

Meet the 11-Year-Old Who Aura Farmed His Way Into the World’s Heart

meet-the-11-year-old-who-aura-farmed-his-way-into-the-worlds-heart

Eleven-year-old Rayyan Arkan Dikha is no ordinary child: he’s the internet sensation of Indonesia’s latest “Aura Farming” frenzy. Dressed in traditional Teluk Belanga gear and sunglasses, Rayyan amazed fans around the globe on a Pacu Jalur canoe race in Riau.

Standing proudly at the front of the racing canoe, he made rhythmic, assured moves that the internet immediately referred to as “aura farming,” the act of intentionally performing actions or cultivating a persona to project a cool, confident, and desirable image or aura.

That one unplanned gesture catapulted him from local artist to international symbol of cool, collected vibes.

Who is Rayyan Arkan Dikha?

Rayyan is from a small village in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau province. At 11, he is a Togak Luan, or encouragement dancer, at the bow of his village’s Pacu Jalur boat. This centuries-old festival, organised every August to commemorate Indonesia’s Independence Day, has long canoe-like boats and rowers whose morale is led by these dancers.

Rayyan has been doing this since age nine and has become incredibly confident and poised, even on top of the churning water.

How did the Moment Go Viral?

One TikTok that Lensa Rams uploaded in January in April came alive with Rayyan’s exciting stance and dance. The video went viral. Big names followed: Paris Saint‑Germain players, NFL star Travis Kelce, F1 driver Alex Albon, YouTuber KSI, and even party teams, the Savannah Bananas did the “Aura Farming” choreography.

Kelce’s version alone reached 13 million views. Celebrities, brands, and athletes repeated the meme’s energy, bringing worldwide reach and power.

When the US men’s national soccer team won against Guatemala last week, American soccer player Diego Luna copied Dikha’s moves to celebrate a goal.

And that was just one of the many. YouTuber iShowSpped, WizKhalifa, American DJ Steve Aoki, MotoGP rider Marc Márquez were all seen aura farming, copying Dikha’s moves.

What is the Cultural Significance?

This isn’t meme material. It is rooted in Pacu Jalur, a cultural festival from the 1600s. Togak Luan performers such as Rayyan assist in coordinating rowers and motivating crews with movement. What started as a practical ritual infused with cultural panache has transitioned into global entertainment.

Rayyan’s success indicates the way tradition can evolve under digital limelight. It also demonstrates that a local festival has the potential to gain international popularity without losing its authenticity.

Real-world influence for Rayyan

Viral fame elevated Rayyan to a new position: Tourism Ambassador of Riau Province. It carries responsibility and possibility: he markets culture, tourism, and youth participation across the province.

The government supported him with a scholarship. For people in Riau, that’s enormous: a testament that traditional arts continue to carry authority and can open doors to new success.

Rayyan Arkan Dikha’s tale strikes the right chord for fans of internet culture and heritage defenders alike. An impromptu, bold boat-top performance in traditional dress became an international phenomenon.

“Aura Farming” today is the embodiment of subtle strength, and Rayyan brings it full force. He is evidence that authenticity, cultural heritage, and social media can become the perfect harmony. For those seeking inspiration, this kid reminds us: sometimes, simple moves and quiet confidence speak louder than the loudest performance.

Pakistani Dramas That Will Change Your View on Relationships

pakistani-dramas-that-will-change-how-you-view-relationships

Not all Pakistani dramas are created equal. While some revolve around relationships, others tackle societal issues and taboos. One thing, however, remains constant: they each leave a lasting impact on their audiences. These dramas have shaped our perspectives and elevated our expectations in more ways than we realise.

Pakistani Dramas that Will Raise Your Standards (About Time)

This time we are talking about the ones that allowed us to see the beauty of romantic relationships in the best way possible, and also became our comfort in need.

Forget Romeo and Juliet; we have Romeo and Juliet at home (in Burns Road)!

Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum

Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum was the drama that made history due to its unfiltered and absolutely real love story. No grand staircases, no extra-glammed main leads, just a simple middle-class young couple.

It is an opposites attract trope-based storyline that follows the unlikely bond between Mustafa (Fahad Mustafa) and Sharjeena (Hania Aamir) after they are forced to marry one another when Mustafa’s brother, Adeel, decides to call off the marriage between him and Sharjeena.

The narrative explores the bearing of financial and familial burdens on unprepared married couples, as well as the consequences of denouncing tradition to rescue dignity.

Again, this drama was really refreshing to watch because it shows the highs and lows of married life, but also how both Mustafa and Sharjeena came out stronger together in the end despite the countless obstacles coming their way.

Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum taught us that love isn’t about grand gestures and perfections; sometimes it’s about the peaceful silence and building each other up despite the differences.

Love needs to be faithful, not flawless, and you find it in its truest form through Sharjeena and Mustafa.

Ishq Murshid

Our drama industry is filled with blockbusters. Serving good romance left and right, and Ishq Murshid is probably the biggest example of it.

Ishq Murshid is the story of an upper-class boy, Shahmeer (Bilal Abbas Khan), son of a famous politician, who falls in love with a working-class girl, Shibra (Durefishan Saleem). He woos her through his alternative personality, Fazal Baksh, whilst trying to keep up his political persona.

I love this drama so much, as I feel like it has proven to be something so refreshing amidst the ‘typical’ Pakistani dramas usually seen on TV (usually full of melancholy and sadness).

The drama also very beautifully outlines that societal differences don’t matter in love, and if the love is true, it shall not perish even when the most powerful people on earth try to do so.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai

Who hasn’t heard about this masterpiece of Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed? Our national heartthrob of a couple set the standard too high with their perfect imitation of how love should look.

The drama Zindagi Gulzar Hai depicts a love story between a lower-middle-class woman named Kashaf Murtaza (Sanam Saeed) and a wealthy Pakistani man named Zaroon Junaid (Fawad Khan).

A single mother raised Kashaf and her two younger sisters. Their father abandoned them and remarried after their mother could not give birth to a male heir. This life experience torments Kashaf for a lifetime, and she starts seeing her father’s reflection in everyone. However, Zaroon walks into her life and slowly and gradually changes this perspective of Kashaf.

He also allows her to accept her life and circumstances and walks side by side with her despite the differences in their financial backgrounds.

The drama is something we never knew we needed so bad, even today. If he is the right one, he will accept you as you are and will never let any class difference come between you.

Burns Road Kay Romeo Juliet

This one might not be as big as the others, but it holds a special place in our hearts.

Burns Road Kay Romeo Juliet unravels the love story of Freeya (Iqra Aziz) and Farhad (Hamza Sohail), and the hardships they encounter for their love. It taught us that cultural differences can divide families, but love is always strong enough to bridge any gap.

If your love is real, no culture or tradition will be able to separate it. So the next time your potential love interest shows these excuses, know that someone out there won’t!

Parwarish

Currently airing, Parwarish follows the story of Wali (Samar Jafri) and his family as they move from their home in America back to Pakistan to live with his father’s extended family. He studies medicine and then meets Maya (Aina Asif), and they begin to fall in love with one another.

As well as their love story, the drama touches on so many issues regarding generational conflict within Pakistani families and the issues that many younger generations face within this (I won’t go into this as it would be a major spoiler, but it has been absolutely amazing so far!)

Parwarish was never only about parenting, but also about how the relationships we see around us shape us. The drama quietly showed how love, if it’s rooted in respect and emotional growth, can benefit both the people involved and others, too.

Pakistani dramas have given us everything. Love them or hate them, they are the real picture of our society, and no other dramas in the world can do that. Why? Because they are relatable and they are made for us.
