Bangladesh Lose Mustafizur Rahman to Injury Ahead of T20Is

bangladesh-lose-mustafizur-rahman-before-pakistan-t20is

Just when Bangladesh thought their squad was ready for the challenge in Lahore, another big blow hit the camp — Mustafizur Rahman is out.

The left-arm pace wizard, who has been in and out of the team due to fitness concerns over the years, has now been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan, starting May 28. And this time, it’s not a recurring injury — it’s a painful one, literally.

IPL Injury Comes at the Wrong Time

Mustafizur, who was playing for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025, copped a nasty blow on his left thumb during the match against Punjab Kings on May 24. While trying to take a sharp caught-and-bowled chance off Josh Inglis, the ball hit him flush on the hand.

According to Bangladesh team physio Delowar Hossain, scans revealed a clip fracture — and that means two to three weeks on the sidelines.

“This injury requires a period of rest and rehabilitation. We’ll assess again after two weeks,” Hossain shared.

Given the short timeline and the tight schedule, there was no way Bangladesh could risk aggravating the injury. The team management moved quickly and named Khaled Ahmed as his replacement.

A Third Blow Before the Series Starts

It’s not just Mustafizur. Bangladesh’s plans have been rocked by multiple withdrawals even before a ball has been bowled in the series.

Nahid Rana pulled out citing personal reasons. Soumya Sarkar injured his back and was replaced by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. And now, Mustafizur is out too.

Talk about bad timing, right? The Tigers, who are looking to bounce back after a 2-1 T20I series loss to UAE in Sharjah, now head to Lahore a little lighter on experience.

Enter Khaled Ahmed: A Man in Form

While Mustafizur’s absence is a setback, it opens the door for Khaled Ahmed, who’s been quietly making waves across formats.

bangladesh-lose-mustafizur-rahman-before-pakistan-t20is

The 2024–25 season has been a memorable one for the pacer. Across all formats, he’s picked up a whopping 77 wickets at 21.74. Even in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Khaled shone with 20 wickets at an average of 21.55.

He might not have the variations of the Fizz, but Khaled brings in pace, bounce, and a hunger to prove himself on the big stage. For a bowler who’s often been labelled a red-ball specialist, this T20 call-up is a chance to change perceptions.

Beware! The Heatwave Might be Triggering Skin Conditions

beware-the-heatwave-might-be-triggering-skin-conditions

Summer can be quite harsh in certain areas of Pakistan, particularly in Sindh and South Punjab. These regions are experiencing a persistent heatwave, leading to mild discomfort and even heatstroke. What’s worse is that recently, a skin specialist, Dr. Waqar Malik, reported that the effects of heatwave are going beyond just dehydration as it is now causing various skin conditions like fungal infections, acne flare-ups and body odor issues.

In cities suffering from severe heatwave, citizens are reporting prickly heat, foot fungus, under arm infections and rashes. If these conditions are left untreated, they can cause pigmentation and recurring skin-conditions that can worsen over time, Dr. Malik Confirmed.

What Does a Heat Rash Look Like?

One of the most common effects of the heatwave is rash. Heat rash are usually raised spots about 2-4mm, at times even filled with fluid. These spots are grey or white and might be hard to see on dark skin.

Personal Hygiene is Key

To prevent such skin conditions from happening, the key is personal hygiene. Dr. Malik recommended taking a shower twice a day, especially during humid days when you are sweating a lot. The use of prickly heat powders is also recommended on skin folds, as well as cooling gels like Aloe Vera. Any heavy cream should strictly be avoided, and people who wear makeup should avoid putting on too much, for that will clog the pores and cause acne during the humidity.

Clothes also make a huge difference. Tight-fitting and thick material clothes, like tights and pants, should be avoided, instead, one should wear loose-fitting clothes that allow the air to pass. Choose fabrics like lawn, cotton or linen that are soft and breathable on the skin. Also, wear light colours as they do not absorb heat but rather reflect it.

Dr. Malik also emphasised on not being under direct sun in this heatwave during peak hours i.e. between 11 am to 4pm, and apply sunscreen when doing so.

Shaheen Afridi’s Glory Hat-trick: How Qalandars Made History

shaheen-afridi-lahore-qalandars-made-history-in-psl-10-world-club-championship-returns-psl-vs-ipl

If there’s one thing Shaheen Shah Afridi knows how to do, it’s win titles. And on Sunday night at the Gaddafi Stadium, the Lahore Qalandars captain etched his name in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history by becoming the first-ever captain to lift three PSL trophies.

That’s right. Three. A feat unmatched by anyone in the league’s history. And this one? This one had drama, nerves, big hits, and a finish that only PSL finals seem to masterfully script.

Shaheen Afridi: The PSL Kingpin

At just 25, Shaheen Afridi has done what seasoned leaders couldn’t — build a dynasty. He took over a misfiring Lahore Qalandars in 2022 and turned them into serial winners.

  • 🏆 2022: Champions
  • 🏆 2023: Champions again
  • 🏆 2025 (PSL 10): ONCE AGAIN CHAMPIONS

While others like Misbah, Sammy, and Rizwan have one title each to their names, Shaheen now stands head and shoulders above the rest. And let’s be honest — it’s not just the trophies, it’s the way he’s led from the front that’s won him the league’s respect.

A Final for the Ages: Qalandars vs Gladiators

Lahore’s final showdown against Quetta Gladiators was nothing short of a rollercoaster. Set a daunting 202-run target, Qalandars needed something special. And boy, did they deliver!

Youngster Mohammad Naeem wasted no time and went into beast mode early on. His 47 off just 27 balls — featuring six towering sixes — gave Lahore the kind of start every team dreams of in a chase like this.

His aggressive opening stand of 39 and then a 46-run partnership with Abdullah Shafique ensured Lahore had their foot on the pedal early.

Shafique wasn’t far behind either. With a solid 41 off 28, including four classy boundaries and a big six, he kept the scoreboard ticking until his dismissal left Lahore at 115/3 in the 13th over.

With Naeem and Shafique back in the dugout, the pressure started to mount. Thisara Perera and Bhanuka Rajapaksa found themselves bogged down by some crafty bowling from the Gladiators.

The required run rate? Creeping over 10. The crowd? Anxious.

But then came the man who had just jetted in from England after a Test match — Sikandar Raza.

Raza and Perera: The Calm Before the Carnage

Raza’s cool head and Perera’s brute force formed the perfect storm. Raza released the pressure with back-to-back boundaries off Mohammad Amir — not an easy feat at the death.

Meanwhile, Perera brought up a rapid-fire fifty in just 28 balls, showing that his experience in crunch moments is still priceless.

And then came the final over. 13 needed off 6. Tension. Silence. Drama. With 8 needed off 3 balls, Raza did what match-winners do — he backed himself.

A crunching six over cover point off Faheem Ashraf brought the crowd to its feet. One ball later, he whipped the next delivery to the midwicket fence.

The Legacy Grows

This victory wasn’t just about the final — it was about a team that’s grown under a leader who has matured faster than anyone expected.

Shaheen Afridi isn’t just collecting trophies — he’s building a legacy. And with a balanced squad, young guns firing, and seasoned stars delivering under pressure, Lahore Qalandars now look like a PSL superpower.

And for fans? This wasn’t just another win. It was a night to remember. A captain to celebrate. And a team that’s now written its name in gold.

Eid-al-Adha Likely to be Celebrated on June 7, Says Suparco

Eidul Azha likely to be celebrated on June 7, says Suparco

Eid-al-Adha will likely be celebrated across Pakistan on June 7, 2025, according to the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco). The commission announced the expected date for the crescent moon sighting for Zilhaj 1446 AH. They based this prediction on scientific analysis, astronomical data, and modern observation methods.

Suparco said the new moon for Zilhaj will appear on May 27, 2025, at 8:02 pm Pakistan Standard Time. On May 27, which is 29 Ziqa’ad, the moon’s age at sunset in Pakistan will be about 11 hours and 34 minutes.

They added, “Even under the most ideal weather circumstances, the chance of the moon being seen over the country is very low as there would only be a 37-minute interval between sunset and moonset.” Because of this, Suparco expects Zilhaj to start on May 29, 2025.

Eid-al-Adha, which falls on the 10th day of Zilhaj, will be observed on June 7, 2025. However, Suparco stressed that the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has the final authority on moon sighting. They said, “The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirms finally based on eyewitness testimony and weather circumstances.”

Eid-al-Adha is a major Islamic festival that marks the end of the Haj pilgrimage. Muslims worldwide celebrate it to honor Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) willingness to sacrifice his son as commanded by Allah.

This announcement helps people plan for the holiday, but they will wait for the official moon-sighting committee’s final confirmation.

Sikandar Raza’s Jet-Lagged Journey to PSL Glory

sikandar-raza-leads-lahore-qalandars-to-psl-10-glory-imad-wasim

There are dramatic finishes, and then there are stories that feel like a script straight out of a sports film. The heroics of Sikandar Raza for Lahore Qalandars in the PSL 10 final fall firmly in the latter. This wasn’t just about runs, wickets, or titles — it was about heart, hustle, and an insane amount of air miles.

Just a day before the PSL 2025 final, Raza was padding up for Zimbabwe in a historic Test match against England at Trent Bridge. Less than 24 hours later, he was walking out under the floodlights at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, hitting the winning runs for Lahore Qalandars.

From Test Whites to Qalandars’ Green

On paper, Zimbabwe had just lost a one-off Test against England — their first in over two decades on English soil. But for Sikandar Raza, the Test match was just the beginning of a whirlwind journey. No recovery days. No extended media duties. Just a mission.

Once the stumps were drawn at Trent Bridge, Raza jumped into a friend’s car and was rushed to Birmingham Airport. With no business class seats available, he flew economy to Dubai, waited six hours, transferred to Abu Dhabi, and finally caught a flight to Lahore.

Still in transit when the toss happened, Shaheen Afridi calmly announced, “Raza’s playing tonight.” Unbelievable? Definitely. Impossible? Not if you’re Sikandar Raza.

Sikandar Raza: The Match-Turner

Raza’s impact was immediate. He came on early and picked up the crucial wicket of Rilee Rossouw. But it was his batting that sealed his spot in PSL folklore.

With 57 needed off 20 and Mohammad Amir steaming in, Qalandars were staring down the barrel. But Raza wasn’t rattled. A boundary, then a six — clean, composed, clutch. Suddenly, hope returned.

In the final over, Qalandars needed 8 off 3. Faheem Ashraf bowled a near-perfect wide yorker. But Raza? He reached for it, found the middle of his bat, and sent it sailing over cover for six. The next delivery? Dispatched to midwicket. Game. Set. Trophy.

As fireworks exploded, Raza was hoisted high by his teammates — a moment frozen in PSL history. This wasn’t just a win. This was a story of resilience, selflessness, and the beautiful madness of cricket.

Government Plans to Increase Defence Budget, Says Ahsan Iqbal

Government Plans To Increase Defence Budget, Says Ahsan Iqbal

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has confirmed that the government will increase the defence budget next fiscal year. At the same time, he assured the public that it plans to provide relief. Importantly, Iqbal clarified that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) did not pressure the budget.

Speaking to a delegation of engineers led by Engineer Ameer Zameer, Secretary General of the Institution of Engineers Pakistan, Iqbal emphasized India’s water aggression. He promised the government would dedicate funds on a priority basis to guarantee the country’s long-term water security. He pushed for the rapid completion of hydro projects like the Diamer-Bhasha Dam to deny India any advantage.

Iqbal attributed the budget delay to the prime minister’s foreign trip and Eid holidays. He reiterated the government’s commitment to relief and announced a paid internship programme for young engineers. He vowed to include their demands in the new budget.

Regarding tensions with India, Iqbal said the nation stayed united after recent military success. Furthermore, he condemned PTI founder Imran Khan, saying, “Imran Khan has not responded favorably to COAS Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s acknowledgment for exemplary leadership.” He insisted the government will oppose any moves that threaten national unity.

IMF Talks Progress

Meanwhile, the government continues talks with the IMF on the upcoming budget. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) proposed lowering income tax rates for salaried people by 2.5%. However, the IMF rejected raising the non-taxable income limit from Rs0.6 million to Rs1.2 million. Instead, it considers reducing the lowest tax rate from 5% to 1%. It may also lower the highest tax slab from 35% to 32.5%. People earning over Rs1 million monthly will face a 10% surcharge, while the super tax on higher incomes might decrease gradually.

The government is reviewing proposals to raise military salaries. Civilian pay and pensions will increase according to inflation. Depending on expenditures, the FBR may raise its tax collection target from Rs14.05 trillion to Rs14.2 trillion.

Nathan Porter from the IMF stated, “We had productive conversations with the authorities on their FY2026 budget plans and economic policy reforms supported by the 2024 Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and the 2025 Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).” He added Pakistan aims for a primary surplus of 1.6% of GDP. The IMF pushed for better tax collection and cost reductions. They also discussed energy reforms and flexible exchange rates to rebuild reserves.

Sources revealed the IMF requested alternative ways to fill a Rs56 billion gap if taxes decrease. The FBR suggested raising the capital gains tax for companies from 15% to 20–25%. It also proposed increasing withholding tax on imports by 2%, excluding raw materials. However, the IMF warned these measures might conflict with tariff policies and strain the corporate sector.

World Bank Lauds Pakistan’s Reform Drive

She praised Pakistan’s reform momentum, saying, “Comprehensive reforms hold the key to Pakistan’s sustainable economic recovery and poverty alleviation.” Bjerde toured World Bank-funded projects in Sindh and engaged with healthcare workers and flood victims. She also held discussions on development projects with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and MNA Aseefa Bhutto Zardari.

Russian Drone Attacks Target Kyiv And Other Ukrainian Cities, Three Dead Near Capital

Russian Drone Attacks Target Kyiv And Other Ukrainian Cities, Three Dead Near Capital

Officials reported that Russian troops attacked Kyiv and other locations early on Sunday, wounding at least 11 people in the capital, killing three people in nearby towns, and damaging homes and other infrastructure.

Kyiv region officials reported three fatalities in two tiny towns outside the capital.

Attacks spread to a series of regional hubs including Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, Mykolaiv in the south, and Ternopil in the west.

Timur Tkachenko, head of the military administration of Kyiv, reported that 11 people were hurt from drone attacks.

In the Holosiivskyi area just beyond the city centre, a five-storey apartment building was struck, causing a fire to harm the external of the building.

Strikes affecting other districts damaged a private residence and a business centre.

It was the second night running when a large assault occurred.

Friday evening saw Russia launch hundreds of drones and ballistic missiles towards Kyiv—one of the largest combined aerial assaults on the Ukrainian capital in the three-year conflict. Fifteen people were hurt; several apartment buildings suffered damage.

According to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov in northeastern Ukraine, drones struck three city areas and wounded three persons. Explosions damage windows in tall residential buildings.

Pakistan Allocates 2,000MW Electricity for AI Data Centres, Bitcoin Mining

Pakistan Allocates 2,000MW Electricity for AI Data Centers, Bitcoin Mining

In a bold move to lead in digital innovation, Pakistan has launched the first phase of a national plan to power Bitcoin mining and AI data centres. The project will use 2,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity.

The Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC), backed by the Ministry of Finance, is leading the effort. The aim is to use surplus electricity, create high-tech jobs, attract foreign investment, and generate major government revenue.

Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb called this step a turning point. He said it transforms extra energy into ideas, investment, and foreign income, unlocking economic potential.

Pakistan is well-placed to become a global data hub. Its location bridges Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Since PCC launched, Bitcoin miners and data firms worldwide have shown strong interest. Some have already visited, and more are expected soon.

The finance ministry said the project turns unused power into a valuable digital asset. Bitcoin mining and AI data centers need constant, high energy. This makes them ideal for using surplus power. Redirecting energy from underused plants can turn a burden into long-term income.

Bilal Bin Saqib, CEO of PCC, said Pakistan could become a global leader in AI and crypto. With proper oversight and transparency, the country can manage this well and earn income in USD from Bitcoin mining.

As regulations develop, Pakistan may even hold Bitcoin in a national wallet. This would mark a big shift. The country could move from using digital assets for stability to also selling power in Pakistani Rupees (PKR).

Pakistan offers cheap, stable energy and available land.Global demand for AI data centers has jumped to over 100GW, but supply is only 15GW. This gap gives Pakistan a rare chance to lead with its energy and evolving legal framework.

Pakistan to Cancel Passports, Register FIRs Against Deportees

Minister Naqvi emphasised that these deportees have brought embarrassment to Pakistan on the global stage.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Saturday that Pakistanis deported from foreign countries will have their passports cancelled and face legal action upon return. The decision follows a rise in cases of deportation, particularly for begging.

Over the past 16 months, Saudi Arabia has deported 5,033 Pakistani nationals for begging. An additional 369 were caught engaging in similar activities in five other countries. In April alone, 106 deportees from European nations arrived back in Islamabad.

Following a key meeting in Islamabad chaired by Naqvi, it was decided that not only will returning deportees have their passports cancelled, but a First Information Report (FIR) will also be registered against them. According to PTV News, their names will be added to a passport control list, barring them from applying for travel documents for the next five years.

A new committee, headed by the Interior Secretary, has been established to strengthen and enforce stricter passport issuance policies. The objective is to prevent misuse and discourage individuals from engaging in activities that tarnish Pakistan’s international reputation.

Minister Naqvi stated that the deportees have embarrassed Pakistan internationally and that the government will no longer be lenient.. The move signifies a shift towards stricter immigration and travel policies to protect the national image and prevent violations.

Trump Threatens Tariffs on EU Goods and iPhones

trump-threatens-tariffs-on-eu-goods-and-iphones

On Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that he might impose a 50% tariffs on European Union goods starting 1 June. He also threatened a 25% levy on all imported iPhones purchased by American consumers. The statements, made on social media, disrupted global financial markets. Stock indices in the U.S. and Europe fell, the dollar weakened, gold prices rose, and Treasury yields declined due to economic concerns.

Trump’s Threat Escalates Trade Tensions

Trump’s threat followed frustration within the White House over slow progress in trade talks with the EU. He also criticised Apple, urging the company to move production to the U.S. “I expect their iPhones that will be sold in the United States of America to be manufactured and built in the United States, not India or anyplace else,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. Later, speaking to reporters, he added that the proposed tax would also apply to “Samsung and anybody that makes that product.”

He emphasised, “I’m not looking for a deal… We’ve set the deal – it’s at 50%. But again, there’s no tariff if they build their plant here.”

EU, Japan Respond; Apple Faces Pressure

EU Trade Chief Maroš Šefčovič reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to fair trade talks, saying trade “must be guided by mutual respect, not threats.” Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said the EU would likely view the tariff threat as part of ongoing negotiations.

The White House had paused earlier global tariffs announced in April after backlash from investors. Currently, a 10% baseline import tax remains, and Chinese tariffs have been reduced from 145% to 30%.

The EU exported around €500 billion worth of goods to the U.S. last year, including cars, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals. A 50% tariff could raise prices on many of these items.

Japan’s negotiator Ryosei Akazawa said talks with the U.S. were more detailed, but warned, “In negotiations, the party stuck to a deadline usually loses.”

Apple declined to comment, but reports indicate it is shifting iPhone production to India by 2026. Analyst Gil Luria noted, “It is hard to imagine that Apple can be fully compliant with this request from the president in the next three to five years.”

Australia Floods Leave 4 Dead, 50,000 Stranded

The floods have also caused pollution and damage along the coast, with dead animals and debris washing up on beaches.

The death toll from severe southeastern Australia floods rose to four on Friday after emergency workers found a man’s body in a car submerged by floodwaters near Coffs Harbour, about 550 km north of Sydney. The discovery follows three days of continuous heavy rain that has isolated around 50,000 people, destroyed homes, and swept away livestock, according to emergency officials.

At least one person remains missing since the heavy downpours began earlier in the week. Emergency Services Deputy Commissioner of New South Wales, Damien Johnston, warned people to be cautious: “Floodwaters have contaminants, there can be vermin, snakes… so you need to assess those risks. Electricity can also pose a danger.”

Widespread Damage and Disrupted Access

Drone footage and media reports show widespread flooding in streets, sunken vehicles, and swollen rivers in the Hunter and Mid North Coast regions of New South Wales. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese had planned to visit the severely affected town of Taree but had to cancel due to road blockages. “We did try… but that was not possible due to the circumstance, which I’m sure people understand,” he said in Maitland. “We’re here to say, clearly and explicitly — you’re not alone.”

The floods have also caused pollution and damage along the coast, with dead animals and debris washing up on beaches. Researchers like Davide Faranda from ClimaMeter say that climate change is making such extreme weather more frequent: “What once were rare downpours are now becoming the new normal — climate change is rewriting Australia’s weather patterns, one flood at a time.”

Transport Chaos and Dam Warnings

A strong weather system dumped four months’ worth of rain in just three days. Sydney faced flight delays after two of its three airport runways were briefly closed due to strong winds. Train services, including the airport rail link, were delayed because of water on the tracks. Authorities are closely monitoring the Warragamba Dam, which supplies most of Sydney’s drinking water and is at 96% capacity. Emergency workers continue to help affected communities and assess the damage.

“Only a Mad Person can Think that India can Stop Pakistan’s Water”: DG ISPR

DG ISPR Dismisses India’s Water Threat As “Insane Thinking”
DG ISPR Dismisses India’s Water Threat As “Insane Thinking”

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has strongly rejected Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim that India could stop Pakistan’s water. In an interview with Al Jazeera, he called this idea “insane thinking.”

“Only a mad person can think that India can stop Pakistan’s water. It is not possible to cut off water for 240 million people,” he said. Modi had earlier stated that Pakistan would not receive water from rivers over which India claims rights. His comment came a month after a deadly attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which led India to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).

Kashmir’s Water Rights and Territorial Dispute

General Chaudhry noted that six rivers originate from Kashmir, a region recognised as disputed by the United Nations. “If the people of Kashmir decide to join Pakistan, all those rivers will belong to us, making India a lower riparian state,” he explained. “At that point, it will be for Pakistan to decide how to deal with that situation.”

The Indus Waters Treaty, brokered by the World Bank in 1960, was unilaterally suspended by India following the April 22 attack that killed 26 people, mostly Hindu tourists, in IIOJK.

Unity of the People and Pakistan’s Stand on Truth

Lt Gen Chaudhry highlighted the unity and resilience of the Pakistani people. “If you go into the streets and cities of Pakistan, you will find the answer written on the faces of the people,” he said. According to him, this conflict is not just military or political, but a fight for truth and principles. Calling Pakistan’s stance a just struggle, he said India used falsehoods and coercion to shape a narrative after the Pahalgam incident.

“In response, Pakistan made one simple demand: if you have evidence, bring it forward,” he said. “If there is any proof connecting a Pakistani citizen or the state to the incident, present it — not just to us, but to the international community or a neutral and trusted third party, so that transparent investigations can take place.”

India has not responded to this demand. “India had no answer then, and it still has none,” he added, noting that India’s Ministry of External Affairs recently admitted that the investigation is still ongoing.

Cross-Border Strikes and Pakistan’s Response

Lt Gen Chaudhry also commented on the missile strikes India launched on May 6 and 7. India claimed these were aimed at militant camps in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack. However, the strikes killed several Pakistani civilians, including women and children.

In response, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos, targeting Indian military facilities in several regions. The Pakistan Air Force shot down six Indian fighter jets, including three Rafales and dozens of drones. After 87 hours of fighting, a ceasefire was brokered by the United States on May 10.

The DG ISPR pointed out that India has a more developed film and media industry, which it uses to create and push false narratives. He reiterated that Pakistan has not used the full force of its conventional military yet, as it remains focused on countering terrorism, particularly operations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, supported by India.

India Accused of Sponsoring Terrorism

“The world knows that India is the biggest sponsor of terrorism in this region,” he said. He made it clear that Pakistan continues these anti-terror operations without withdrawing any troops. He warned of the dangers of a conflict between two nuclear-armed states.

“Global powers understand that even imagining a war between two nuclear states is both dangerous and ridiculous,” he added. “India has been obsessed with war for years, which is like playing with fire.”

Lt Gen Chaudhry said India is creating conditions that could lead to mutual destruction. On the other hand, Pakistan has acted responsibly to avoid escalating the situation.

He raised serious concerns about human rights in India, stating, “The Indian elite believes in oppressing Muslims and minorities, which is a serious issue.” He explained that Christians, Sikhs, and lower-caste Hindus also face persecution.

“This oppression naturally triggers a reaction,” he said, “but instead of addressing the root causes, India refuses to deal with the issues and blames Pakistan.” He called this a result of extremism and the Hindutva ideology, which seeks to shift internal Indian problems outward.

He also denied India’s accusation that Pakistan targeted a religious site like the Golden Temple. He called it “the greatest lie.” He emphasised Pakistan’s commitment to protecting Sikh religious sites like Nankana Sahib, Panja Sahib and Kartarpur Sahib.

“Attacking religious or civilian sites is against our culture, our values, and our religion,” he said. “We love our Sikh brothers, and there are deep bonds between Muslims and Sikhs in Pakistan.”

Warning of Stronger Response If Provoked Again

Lt Gen Chaudhry said Pakistan has fought this war independently and expects India to do the same. “If India has any self-respect, it should also fight its own battles,” he added. He urged Indians to stop depending on falsehoods and aggression.

He stressed that Pakistan remained firm during the recent conflict and will continue to do so. “If India tries this again, our reaction will be swifter and more severe than before,” he concluded.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts rain, thunderstorms, and dust storms across upper and central regions of the country on May 23 and 24.

Thunderstorms and lightning are likely to hit regions such as Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and Galiyat. Rain is also expected in Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Jhelum, Mianwali, Chakwal, Attock, Narowal, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, and Sheikhupura.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will likely see strong winds and thunderstorms across many districts. These include Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Karak, and Waziristan.

In Balochistan, areas like Zhob, Ziarat, and Barkhan could also experience rainfall.

The PMD urged people to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines during this changing weather.

At the same time, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) released heatwave safety measures for cattle markets ahead of Eid ul Adha. As animal markets begin operating across rural and urban areas, the PDMA Director General instructed local authorities to arrange water supplies for animals and build temporary sheds at these sites.

They also ordered the setup of veterinary and medical health camps in all cattle markets to ensure safety for both animals and people.

The PDMA reminded the public that “with precautionary measures we can avoid the adverse effect of severe heat and the heatwave conditions expected to persist in June.”

They also urged both cattle sellers and buyers to remain careful in case of rough weather.

Another Student Martyred After Khuzdar School Bus Attack, Death Toll Rises to

Security officials confirmed on Friday that Malaika, a female student badly injured in the Khuzdar school bus attack, died during treatment. Her death raised the total number of victims to eight. Among the dead are six schoolchildren—five girls and one boy—according to security sources.

Officials called the attack an act of terrorism backed by India. They stated, “The blood of these innocent children will be avenged,” and warned, The Indian-backed instigators would be held accountable.”

The suicide bombing took place on Wednesday morning. A suspected terrorist drove a car loaded with explosives into a school bus near Zero Point, close to Rakhshan Hotel. Khuzdar Deputy Commissioner Yasir Iqbal Dashti said the bus was taking students to the Army Public School inside the Khuzdar cantonment.

The Bomb Disposal Squad confirmed the attacker used over 30 kilograms of explosives in the blast.

The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said, “The cowardly and ghastly assault was planned and orchestrated by the terrorist state of India and carried out by its proxies in Balochistan.”

Leaders from both the civil and military government strongly condemned the attack. The United Nations Security Council also issued a strong statement against the act of terror.

The bombing has deeply shaken the area, especially due to the loss of innocent schoolchildren. Security forces are still trying to trace the handlers and those who supported the attack.

Chinese Scientists Develop Lens that can Detect Invisible Infrared Light

Chinese Scientists Develop Lens that can Detect Invisible Infrared Light

Chinese researchers have created contact lenses that enable users to view infrared light that is typically invisible to the human eye. What’s even cooler is that the lenses function better through closed eyelids, and future iterations may be able to help people who are colour blind.

Only a small spectrum of colours, light with wavelengths ranging from 400 to 700 nanometers, can be seen by the human eye. Even though other species can see beyond it, we refer to that as the “visible” portion of the spectrum in a typical human-centric fashion. Anything beyond that is invisible to the human eye. For example, light that falls between 800-1600 is infrared, and in a recent study, scientists have helped humans see it with the help of lenses embedded with nanoparticles that convert the infrared wavelengths into visible ones.

Infrared light is invisible to the human eye because the wavelengths are too long. The lenses help by converting them into shorter wavelengths.

Tian Xue’s Creation

The lenses do not interfere with the wearer’s ability to view visible light. In fact, wearers who tested the lenses were able to determine the direction of the visible light’s source and differentiate it from the flashing signals from infrared light from the LEDs during tests. According to Tian Xue, a neurologist at the University of Science and Technology of China, “It’s totally clear cut: the subject cannot see anything without the contact lenses, but when they put them on, they can clearly see the flickering of the infrared light.”

“We also found that when the subject closes their eyes, they’re even better able to receive this flickering information, because near-infrared light penetrates the eyelid more effectively than visible light, so there is less interference from visible light.”

Currently, the lenses only allow wearers to see radiation from an LED light source, but the researchers are working to increase the nanoparticles’ sensitivity so they can see even lower levels of infrared light.

“In the future, by working together with materials scientists and optical experts, we hope to make a contact lens with more precise spatial resolution and higher sensitivity,” Xue added.

Mahira Khan Says She’s Against ‘Bans’ and ‘Cancel Culture’

Mahira Khan Hints at Bollywood Return: ''I’m Against Bans and Cancel Culture''
Mahira Khan Hints at Bollywood Return: ''I’m Against Bans and Cancel Culture''

The famous Pakistani actors and film industry sweethearts, Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed, touched down in Dallas to market their soon-to-be-released film Love Guru, premiering this Eid al-Adha. Love Guru’s star-studded promotional event was the talk of the town for fans and the media. Experts and social media influencers also joined the marketing frenzy.

One of the most notable highlights of the event was a free-flowing conversation between Mahira and Dr. Huda, who is a well-known Dallas-based doctor and blogger. She asked Mahira the much-anticipated question: Where do you see yourself in Bollywood’s future?

The Answer: Contemplative Silence Infused with Emotion

The answer was infused with mixed feelings. Taking a minute to breathe, Mahira explained why she feels so strongly about the matter and political reality. Bollywood and Pakistani cinema share a love-hate relationship, particularly during periods of heightened cross-border tensions.

Dr. Huda pointed out the growing and never-ending restrictions imposed on Pakistani performers by the Indian film industry. It was a very tense situation, and everyone had their attention on Mahira.

Mahira Khan Speaks Against Cancel Culture and Bans

“I feel like we have to look inwards,” Mahira said, her tone firm and empathetic. She talked about how important it was to develop and advance our own entertainment industry in Pakistan. She held her ground, despite the difficulties. “I am not someone who believes in cancel culture, in banning, in boycotting. … I don’t believe in bullying  or making threats in order to get your way.” Mahira added. Her sentiments reflected a general belief in unity and creativity that transcends frontiers. The actress admitted that one can go tough but also be deeply emotional in situations.

‘Love Guru’ and the Spirit of Collaboration

Mahira’s perspective reflects a growing attitude among Pakistani artists: a focus on self-sufficiency. She emphasised the need to support and invest in local talent, local stories, and local platforms. “Your country is your country at the end of the day. Their country is their country,” she added, making the case for national identity without division.

This is not just a mature perspective; it’s a sanity-preserver in our polarised world. Instead of hoping for acceptance abroad, Mahira wants Pakistani cinema to carve its own space in the world.

A Hopeful Signal for Peace through Art

While there is no official word about her signing any Bollywood feature, Mahira’s words indicate that she isn’t against working in Bollywood if peace prevails. As political differences may endure, figures like Mahira are setting the stage for peace and advancement through mutual culture and narratives.

‘Love Guru’ and the Spirit of Collaboration

Love Guru is not just a movie featuring Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed; it’s the celebration of storytelling. It guarantees humour, romance, and a message of optimism – all aptly set for the occasion of Eid. Excitement among fans in the U.S. is building up for the promotional visit and to see these two stars once again on screen together.

And when it comes to Mahira’s response to the reporter, it was not flimsy, rather it reminded everyone of the power art has to heal and unite. By standing up against cancel culture and advocating for national growth, she proved herself not just a talented actress but a thoughtful leader in the entertainment world.

As Love Guru gets ready to make its debut, Mahira’s message is loud and clear: Let’s build, not break. Let’s Invest, Not Isolate.

India vs England: Who Could Step in for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma?

india-england-who-can-replace-virat-kohli-rohit-sharma

With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma stepping away from Test cricket, India now faces the inevitable task of rebuilding a red-ball core — one that can carry the team into the next phase of the ICC World Test Championship cycle.

And according to former India all-rounder and batting coach Sanjay Bangar, the future may already be knocking.

Fresh Faces for Fresh Challenges

Ahead of the five-Test series against England starting June 20, Bangar has put forward two names who could plug the massive gaps left behind by Kohli and Rohit: Abhimanyu Easwaran and Karun Nair.

Now, these aren’t random picks. These are domestic giants who’ve been grinding it out in India’s first-class scene for years — and they might finally be getting their moment in the sun.

Abhimanyu Easwaran

Let’s start at the top. Literally. Bangar believes Easwaran is the man to replace Rohit Sharma as India’s Test opener. And honestly, it’s hard to argue.

  • 7,600+ runs in first-class cricket

  • 27 centuries to his name

  • Consistently among the top domestic run-scorers year after year

He’s also been a regular part of India A tours and will lead the India A side against the England Lions, which adds even more weight to his case.

While Easwaran hasn’t debuted at the Test level yet, this could be the perfect opportunity — a long series in England, tough conditions, and a chance to prove he belongs.

Karun Nair

And then there’s Karun Nair — the man who once hit a triple century in just his third Test, but somehow vanished from the national setup just as quickly.

Now 32, Nair is knocking hard on the door again.

  • 863 runs in the Ranji Trophy

  • 779 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy

  • Consistent form across formats this season

Bangar is spot on: if Indian cricket really believes in rewarding domestic performances, Nair is long overdue for a recall. With Kohli’s No. 4 spot open, the timing couldn’t be more perfect.

The Captaincy Conundrum

Of course, new faces also mean new leadership. With the BCCI set to announce the squad by May 24, all eyes are on the captaincy. Shubman Gill appears to be the frontrunner — young, composed, and already part of the Test setup.

But don’t count out Jasprit Bumrah just yet. His name has surfaced too, though recurring injuries could make that a risky bet.

Final Thoughts

The likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have carried Indian Test cricket for over a decade. Their absence will be felt — in the dressing room, at the crease, and in the hearts of fans.

But the beauty of the sport lies in its cycle. As legends fade, new stars rise.

Abhimanyu Easwaran and Karun Nair aren’t just “replacements” — they’re the start of a new story. And if they get their chance this summer, England 2025 could mark the beginning of India’s next great Test era.

India’s 2025 England Tour – Full Schedule

Here’s what the road ahead looks like:

  • 1st Test: June 20–24 (Leeds)

  • 2nd Test: July 02–06 (Birmingham)

  • 3rd Test: July 10–14 (Lord’s)

  • 4th Test: July 23–27 (Manchester)

  • 5th Test: July 31–August 04 (The Oval)

Donald Trump Ends Harvard’s Foreign Student Programme

Doland Trump Ends Harvard’s Foreign Student Programme

In a bold decision, the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has stopped Harvard University from enrolling foreign students. This decision affects more than a quarter of the university’s student population. It also shows a serious conflict between Trump and one of the most respected universities in the country.

Trump says Harvard refused to follow the government’s rules. He claims the university allows an unsafe campus for Jewish students and supports radical views. Trump is angry with Harvard for not agreeing to his request for oversight of the school’s hiring and admissions. He accuses the university of being a centre for anti-Semitism and “woke” liberal ideas.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a letter to Harvard, “Effective immediately, Harvard University’s Student and Exchange Visitor (SEVIS) Programme certification is revoked.” The SEVIS system is what allows foreign students to study in the U.S.

Last month, Trump warned Harvard that it could lose the ability to enrol foreign students if it did not meet the government’s demands. These demands would place the private university under political supervision.

Noem wrote, “As I explained to you in my April letter, it is a privilege to enrol foreign students. All universities must comply with Department of Homeland Security requirements, including reporting requirements under the Student and Exchange Visitor Programme regulations, to maintain this privilege.”

She added, “As a result of your refusal to comply with multiple requests to provide the Department of Homeland Security pertinent information while perpetuating an unsafe campus environment that is hostile to Jewish students, promotes pro-Hamas sympathies, and employs racist ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ policies, you have lost this privilege.”

In the 2024–25 academic year, over 27 percent of Harvard’s students were from other countries, according to university data.

Harvard has not yet responded to requests for comment.
