Hajj 2025

The Ministry approved the extension after receiving requests from pilgrims who were unable to complete the process. This will allow them another seven days to apply. Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, announced that if the number of applications exceeds the quota, a draw will be held. He also asked foreign Pakistanis to pay their sponsorship money by December 10 in order to qualify.

Over 54,000 Applications Received for Hajj 2025 Scheme

Source: Arab News

The Pakistani government closed the Hajj 2025 application process on December 3, 2024. More than 54,000 applications were submitted under the federal scheme, the Ministry of Religious Affairs reported. This is a milestone in the preparation of aspirant pilgrims to travel to Saudi Arabia for the sacred journey.

For the 2025 Hajj, Saudi Arabia has reserved a quota of 179,210 for Pakistani pilgrims, equally from government and private schemes. Applications under the government scheme were received through 15 designated banks from November 18 onwards. The last draw will finally be conducted on December 6.

Flexible Payment for Pilgrims

In a first-of-its-kind move, the government offered an installment payment plan to relieve the financial burden on applicants. Pilgrims had to pay the first installment of Rs200,000 ($717) along with their application, and then the second installment of Rs400,000 ($1,435) within ten days of the ballot. The rest of the amount is to be paid by February 10, 2025.

This financial flexibility reflects the commitment of the government to make Hajj more accessible, particularly in Pakistan’s challenging economic condition.

Technological Innovations for a Seamless Experience

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has also introduced the “Pak Hajj 2025” mobile application, which will guide and assist pilgrims throughout their journey. The application is available on Android and iOS platforms, and provides services such as tracking of itineraries, accommodation details, and real-time updates, making the Hajj experience easier.

Relief in Airfares

Another feature of the Hajj 2025 scheme is reduced air travel cost for Hajis. National other airlines have agreed to bring it down by Rs14,000. Under the federal programme, the air travel cost for a Haji will be Rs220,000 as compared to the previous year’s Rs234,000.

The large number of applications indicate the strong spiritual bond that Pakistanis have with Hajj. Economic difficulties have not weaken the resolve of the Pakistani people to fulfill this religious duty. The government’s measures, including installment plans, reduced airfares, and mobile app integration, show that it is making the journey more accessible and manageable.

As the draw comes closer, the shortlisted candidates will start preparing for this sacred pilgrimage, a journey of faith and devotion. For Pakistan, this successful organization of Hajj 2025 reiterates its commitment to the cause of serving its people to reach that great spiritual landmark.

pakistan to secure imf $1.1 billion loan

The Finance Ministry has begun procedures to release $1.1 billion of the IMF’s $7 billion. As a plan for early 2025, Pakistan intends to meet challenging IMF standards for its first economic assessment. Official records underline the government’s goals, including Rs6,009 billion in tax revenue by December 2024 and Rs9,168 billion by March 2025. To ensure transparency in its tax policy, the government will not grant any new tax amnesties or concessions to businesses.

To meet the IMF’s requirements, the government will change the Civil Servants Act by February 2025, mandating asset statements from officials and their families. Furthermore, tax collection on provincial agricultural income will begin shortly. The Finance Ministry intends to build risk management systems at tax units around Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore. On top of it, BISP stipends would increase by Rs3,000. These measures are consistent with the government’s goal of setting energy sector liabilities at Rs417 billion and terminating gas supply to captive power units by January 2025. “The government is committed to meeting the IMF’s targets,” a spokesperson stated.

GTA 6: Rockstar Games’ Latest Update Sparks Hope for a Second Trailer

Source: Brandsynario

The GTA community is at it again as Rockstar Games updated its GTA 6 trailer playlist on YouTube. With the one-year anniversary of the first trailer’s release approaching, fans are convinced this could signal the imminent drop of a second trailer.

One Year of Theories and Speculation

The first GTA 6 trailer, released on December 4, 2023, turned into a social phenomenon. It became the most-watched non-music video debut on YouTube and gave rise to many fan theories. However, as the days go by, the buzz continues to die because Rockstar remains silent. Fans find themselves dissecting everything from bullet hole patterns to moon phases in search of clues about the next reveal.

Now, an apparently minor playlist update has sparked fresh speculations. Reddit user, Unia_, first spotted the change, creating a buzz among the community. “Why would they be messing with the playlist in a random fashion?” asked one Redditor, labeling the discovery ‘the most credible hopium’ in months.

What’s the Significant of this Update?

The excitement of the fans is also fueled by the timing of this update: it almost falls at the anniversary of the first trailer, a practice some speculate as a sign to keep Rockstar on yearly promotional gears.

Skeptics, however, keep their fingers crossed, thinking that the first trailer leaked due to backend uploads on YouTube. Rockstar might not make the same mistake this time. Yet, even the most skeptical fans have to admit that the playlist update is hard to ignore.

A Community on Edge

The hype surrounding GTA 6 is unlike anything in recent gaming history. Rockstar’s meticulous secrecy paired with fans’ insatiable curiosity has created an environment in which even the smallest breadcrumb sparks widespread excitement.

The first trailer hinted at a game poised to redefine open-world experiences, showcasing characters Jason and Lucia in a fictionalized Vice City, complete with stunning visuals and dynamic gameplay. If a second trailer drops, it could provide more context for the story, gameplay mechanics, and perhaps even a release date—something fans have been clamoring for.

Will the Wait End Soon?

Although there is no official confirmation, the YouTube playlist update has put the community on high alert. Whether Rockstar is cleaning up its YouTube channel or preparing for something major, one thing is sure: the world is watching, and the hype for GTA 6 is stronger than ever!

Apple Accused of Illegally Monitoring and Silencing Workers

Apple Accused of Illegally Monitoring and Silencing Workers
Apple Accused of Illegally Monitoring and Silencing Workers

A shocking recent lawsuit accused Apple of unlawfully monitoring workers’ personal devices and iCloud accounts. This is limiting their ability to discuss pay and working conditions.

Allegations of Unauthorised Monitoring

The lawsuit was filed in California by Amar Bhakta who works in digital advertising for Apple. He claims that the company orders employees to install software on their personal devices. This software allows Apple to access their emails, photos, health data, and other personal information.

Confidentiality Policies and Restrictions

In addition, the lawsuit claims that Apple has confidentiality policies that prohibit workers from speaking out about their working conditions and reporting unlawful activity. Bhakta claims the company advised him to take off his work information from his LinkedIn profile and refrain from discussing his job on podcasts. Therefore, Bhakta’s lawsuit argues that Apple’s monitoring and policies limit employee rights, including whistleblowing, freedom of speech, and the ability to move freely in the job market.

Apple Responds to Lawsuit

Apple retorted that the lawsuit’s allegations lacked validity. According to a spokeswoman, workers receive yearly training on their right to voice concerns about their working conditions. “At Apple, we’re focused on creating the best products and services in the world and we work to protect the inventions our teams create for customers,” the company stated.

Other Lawsuits Against Apple

This lawsuit isn’t the first one for Apple. Two women sued Apple in June alleging that the company underpaid female employees in its marketing, engineering, and AppleCare divisions. They are also represented by Bhakta’s attorneys. Apple has refuted these allegations, claiming that the company is dedicated to equity and inclusivity in all aspects.

The U.S. Labour Board has also filed at least three complaints against Apple. They have claimed the corporation has unlawfully prevented workers from speaking out about concerns such as pay disparity and sexual discrimination. In these instances too, Apple denied any wrongdoing.

While Apple denies the claims, the case highlights crucial concerns over workers’ rights, privacy, and pay equity within major tech companies.

Shoaib Akhtar Warns Babar Azam: Deliver in Champions Trophy 2025 Or Face Axe

azhar-ali-backs-babar-azam-captaincy-champions-trophy-2025-shoaib-akhtar-warns-babar-azam

The clock is ticking for Babar Azam, Pakistan’s batting superstar, as the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 approaches. Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has issued a stark warning: Babar must deliver big performances or risk losing his spot in Pakistan’s white-ball squads.

The high-stakes tournament, set to be hosted in Pakistan, could define Babar’s future in ODIs and T20Is. Speaking on a local news channel, Shoaib set a daunting challenge for the 30-year-old batter.

“He is our star player and has my backing, but with the new management and thinking, performances will matter more than ever. Babar needs to score at least three match-winning hundreds in the Champions Trophy to secure his place. Otherwise, things might get difficult for him,” Shoaib remarked.

The Roadblocks for Babar Azam

Babar Azam has been the face of Pakistan cricket for several years, but recent performances have raised eyebrows. Despite showing glimpses of his brilliance during the ODI series in Australia, his inconsistency in T20Is has been a concern. He managed just 47 runs across three T20Is against Australia, drawing criticism and putting his place under scrutiny.

Adding to the pressure, Pakistan’s white-ball management, now led by Aqib Javed, is reportedly looking for results over reputation. Shoaib’s comments underline a growing belief that Babar needs to step up in key moments to retain his role as Pakistan’s white-ball leader.
Why the Champions Trophy Matters

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is more than just another tournament—it’s a showcase of Pakistan’s cricketing resurgence on home soil. For Babar Azam, it’s a chance to prove he can deliver when it matters most. Shoaib believes the competition will be a litmus test for Babar’s adaptability and consistency.

“This is a defining moment for Babar. The Champions Trophy is happening in Pakistan. The nation expects him to lead from the front, and nothing less than match-winning hundreds will do,” Shoaib added.

The stakes are particularly high because of the fierce competition for spots in Pakistan’s white-ball squads. While Babar has been rested for the ongoing series against Zimbabwe, his return for the upcoming South Africa tour will be closely watched.

The South Africa tour, featuring three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests, offers Babar a chance to regain his rhythm. But the real test will come in the Champions Trophy.

Virat Kohli Inches Closer To Breaking Don Bradman’s 76-Year-Old Record

virat-kohli-inches-closer-to-breaking-don-bradman-record

Virat Kohli, the batting maestro of India, is knocking on the door of history. With the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in full swing, Kohli is on the brink of eclipsing a record held by none other than Sir Don Bradman for over seven decades.

A Journey from Pressure to Perfection

When Kohli arrived in Australia for the series, the buzz wasn’t all positive. Critics couldn’t stop talking about his extended century drought—16 months without an international hundred! But if there’s one thing Kohli knows how to do, it’s silencing the doubters with his bat.

In the very first Test of the series, he played an absolute gem of an innings. His unbeaten knock of 100 runs off just 143 balls reminded everyone why he’s considered one of the greatest modern-day cricketers. This wasn’t just another hundred; it was his 30th in Test cricket, pushing him ahead of Bradman’s tally of 29.

The Record in Sight

Now, Virat Kohli is just one century away from breaking a unique Bradman record: the most centuries by a visiting batter in a single country. Currently, Bradman holds this distinction with 11 centuries in England, a feat he achieved in just 30 innings between 1930 and 1948. Kohli, on the other hand, has already scored 10 centuries in Australia—seven in Tests and three in ODIs.

With four more Tests left in the Border-Gavaskar series, the question is not if Kohli will break the record, but when.

Why This Record Matters?

This isn’t just about numbers; it’s about legacy. Don Bradman is the benchmark for batting greatness, and to even be in the same conversation as “The Don” is a monumental achievement.

For Kohli, breaking this record in Australia—where conditions are tough, and the competition is fierce—will further cement his reputation as one of the all-time greats.

Kohli’s chase for the top spot also highlights an elite club of batters:

  • Don Bradman: 11 centuries in England
  • Virat Kohli: 10 centuries in Australia (and counting!)
  • Jack Hobbs: 9 centuries in Australia
  • Sachin Tendulkar: 9 centuries in Sri Lanka
  • Viv Richards: 8 centuries in England
  • Sunil Gavaskar: 7 centuries in England

Each of these players has left an indelible mark on the sport, but Kohli’s potential to surpass Bradman adds a special layer of excitement.

Champions Trophy 2025: Harbhajan Urges Pakistan To ‘Keep Ego Aside’

harbhajan-singh-icc-india-t20-world-cup-india-pakistan-champions-trophy-2025

Harbhajan Singh has weighed in on the ongoing tussle between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), suggesting that Pakistan should put its “ego” aside and accept the hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Speaking at the inauguration of the World Tennis League, Harbhajan didn’t hold back. “Ask all players, they would say they are ready to play in Abu Dhabi or Dubai. In any case, we don’t see too many Indo-Pak games as such, and Pakistan should keep their ego aside and agree to the ‘Hybrid Model.’ There is a security concern (for India), and I have been saying this since 2022,” he said.

Read More: Paid to Defame: The Truth Behind Social Media Attack On Salman Ali Agha

What’s This Hybrid Model All About?

The Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to take place in February-March, with Pakistan as the host nation. However, India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan has led to a standstill.

To resolve the issue, the PCB proposed a “partnership model” under which both India and Pakistan would play their matches in a neutral venue, likely Dubai, whenever ICC events are held in each other’s countries over the next three years.

It’s a delicate compromise, designed to keep the tournament on track while addressing security concerns.

PCB: Standing Firm Amid the Noise

While the comments from Harbhajan Singh have added fuel to the fire, the PCB isn’t budging. Fresh off crucial meetings in Dubai, PCB officials, including Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, have made it clear that they haven’t “surrendered,” as some reports suggest.

Sources close to the PCB argue that if Pakistan had caved, the ICC and BCCI wouldn’t still be deliberating over the proposed formula. In fact, the delay itself shows that Pakistan’s stance carries weight.

For the PCB, this isn’t just about hosting a cricket tournament. It’s about respect, fairness, and maintaining their standing in the cricketing world. Pakistan has already made it clear that the proposed model isn’t about financial gain. They’ve rejected offers of a bigger share of tournament revenue, emphasizing that their primary concern is mutual respect.

For now, the ICC and BCCI are taking their time to respond to the PCB’s proposal. If accepted, it could set a precedent for handling future Indo-Pak cricketing clashes. But if the negotiations fall apart, it could escalate into a larger standoff, with potential legal battles or even tournament boycotts on the horizon.

‘Brain Rot’- 2024 Oxford’s Word of the Year

‘Brain Rot’- Oxford’s Word of the Year
‘Brain Rot’- Oxford’s Word of the Year

Gen Z and Gen Alpha are changing the world, and also the English Language. From selfie to rizz, one phrase at a time.

Oxford’s Word of the Year for 2024, brain rot, feels like a painfully accurate snapshot of the times we’re living in. It’s not exactly a brand-new term, but this year, it’s become the go-to way to describe that mental mushiness we all feel after hours of doom-scrolling or putting off actual work. It was first used in 1854 in Henry David Thoreau’s Walden. The use of the term “brain rot” has since increased significantly, rising by a staggering 230% between 2023 and 2024. ” It’s the same vibe as ‘bed rot’—where you’re just lying there, marinating in your own laziness—or even ‘skibidi toilet’, proving that viral absurdity now doubles as cultural commentary.

The Humorous Usage

Once a niche term, “brain rot” is now commonly used to highlight the mind-numbing effects of too much low-quality content in a comical or self-deprecating way. So, if you’re watching too much trash television or playing video games, you might have been “brain rotting!” The word is also strongly associated with online memes, such as the strange “only in Ohio” memes and Alexey Gerasimov’s viral Skibidi Toilet video series. These have contributed to a new “brain rot language.” Yes, the rumours are true; Gen Z and Gen Alpha are creating a new language, and the world can only watch in horror and mild amusement as they do so.

‘Brain Rot’- Oxford’s Word of the Year
‘Brain Rot’- Oxford’s Word of the Year

Roots and Revival

Initially, Henry David Thoreau used the word to compare an alleged loss in society’s intelligence with the potato epidemic that was causing famine and hardship throughout Europe.

He expressed his frustration saying, “While England tries to cure the potato rot, will not any attempt be made to cure the brain-rot, which prevails so much more widely and fatally?”

The American Philosopher would be disappointed to know that the rot is still prevalent in society today. Furthermore, the term has gained new significance in the digital age. It became especially prominent on platforms like TikTok, where Gen Z and Gen Alpha communities popularised it. In the past year, it has gained popularity in mainstream journalism, reflecting public concerns about the consequences of excessive digital content consumption.

However, Casper Grathwohl, President of Oxford Languages, commented that the selection of “brain rot” as Word of the Year reflects a growing self-awareness among younger generations about the harmful impact of social media, a phenomenon they have inherited. This term encapsulates a playful yet insightful commentary on the modern digital experience.

Karachi’s local markets like Tariq Road and Lahore’s Liberty Market are crowded with demand for affordable, trendy knits.

This trend also goes well with the growing preference for layering in Pakistan’s winters. Knitted sweaters pair well with leather jackets, trench coats, and even traditional shawls, making them a warm choice for wedding functions too. The layering not only boosts warmth but adds a chic edge to any outfit.

Social media platforms have played a vital role in increasing the sweater craze in Pakistan. Fashion influencers share looks that inspire men to embrace bold choices, like oversized silhouettes and turtleneck sweaters. Additionally, the trend aligns with a rise in conscious fashion, as wool and cotton knits offer sustainable alternatives to synthetic fabrics.

If you haven’t had the chance to embrace this trend yet, now is your time. These sweaters are not only popular, but they are also a winter staple. Invest in this timeless piece and enjoy your winters in comfort and style.
