Dow University of Healthy Sciences Marks 190th Liver Transplant
Pakistan has made an efficient development in the world of liver transplantation. Dow University Hospital has successfully conducted its 190th liver transplant under the guidance of international medical experts. This was performed as a live demonstration that was conducted on Wednesday, April 9th 2025.
Details About the 190th Liver Transplant
This was the country’s first live demonstration of a liver transplant, supervised by world-renowned surgeons from the United States at Dow University’s Ojha campus. These included Professor John LaMattina, who has previously visited Pakistan; and Professor John Fung, who was visiting the country for the first time. Professor John Fung is considered a living legend in the field of liver transplantation and he is also a close associate of the late Professor Thomas Starzl (who is widely regarded as the pioneer of liver transplant).
190th Liver Transplant
Both professors provided valuable insights to Dow’s liver transplant team which was headed by Dr. Jehanzaib Haider. The complex surgery involved a 23-year-old donor who provided a 750-gram portion of his liver to his 42-year-old uncle. The recipient was suffering liver failure due to long-term hepatitis B and D infections. His 23-year-old nephew volunteered to donate 750 grams of his liver, facilitating the successful transplant.
Post Surgery Appreciation
Vice Chancellor Dow University Professor Muhammad Saeed Quraishy commended the team on achieving yet another major milestone in the country’s medical history. He also expressed deep gratitude to the international faculty for their active participation and knowledge-sharing during the live transplant session.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Jehan Ara Hassan, who was present throughout the broadcast, shared that the recipient hailed from Shahdadkot and had no financial means to undergo such a sophisticated surgery privately. Hence, the transplant was done free of cost, solely from the support of Sindh government.
Transplantation is in the Right Hands
Dow University has now completed 190 liver transplants, all without charging patients, and more than 500 kidney transplants and dozens of bone marrow transplants. Even right now, it seems that Dow is developing a proposal for an organ donation bank to help improve accessibility and awareness among the locals. Surely, this is a step ahead for a very bright future of transplantations in the medical field.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has left for a two-day Belarus visit on Thursday. He is visiting the European country at the invitation of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. On his trip, the Prime Minister is joined by a high-level delegation, which includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
During the visit from April 10 to 11, the Prime Minister will hold discussions with President Lukashenko to go over the progress made in areas where both countries have mutual interests. According to a statement from the Foreign Office, “Over the past six months, a series of high-level bilateral engagements — including the 8th Session of the Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) in February 2025 and a subsequent visit by a high-powered mixed ministerial delegation to Belarus in April 2025 — have laid the groundwork for a productive visit.”
It is expected that the two countries will sign several agreements to further improve cooperation. The Foreign Office added, “The Prime Minister’s visit underscores the strong and ongoing partnership between Pakistan and Belarus.”
Last year in November, both countries signed a three-year agreement called the ‘Roadmap for Comprehensive Cooperation’ to improve economic ties. This Roadmap for 2025-2027 was described by the Pakistani government as a “key outcome” of the visit. It was one of the 15 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements signed during talks between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Belarusian President. These talks were followed by a meeting between the delegations of both countries.
Areas of Cooperation Expanded
Other MoUs signed during the visit include cooperation in e-commerce, science and technology, accreditation, auditing, vocational education, health services and halal trade. The two countries also agreed to work together on sharing intelligence about money laundering and terrorism financing, exchange customs trade data, and cooperate in international road transport and disaster management.
Agreements were also signed on environmental and climate change efforts, and both countries signed an extradition treaty to improve legal cooperation. A joint communique released at the end of the visit said these agreements are “expected to open new prospects for the continued development of bilateral relations based on the principles of mutually beneficial friendship.”

Barrik Gold Corp Plans Massive Reko Diq Project in Pakistan
Barrick Gold Corporation has taken a step forward to actualising one of the world’s biggest untouched gold and copper deposits as it provisionally arranges $3 billion of funding for the Reko Diq project in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. With construction set to commence in the latter half of the year and production fully in place by 2028, the project is being touted as a game-changer for both the economy of Pakistan and the international mining sector.
Barrik Gold Corp Plans Massive Reko Diq Project in Pakistan
The interim finance agreement—headed by the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC) and supported by US, German, and Japanese state agencies—is the first stage of a $6 billion strategy. The achievement of full development is dependent upon the successful completion of this financing round by the third quarter of 2025. Barrick CEO Mark Bristow also pointed out that this is not only a company milestone but also a national milestone, saying, “Miners are merely custodians of national assets. Our job is to deliver value to all stakeholders.”
A Mine of Untapped Potential
Reko Diq, on the Iran-Afghanistan border in Balochistan, is said to hold more than $70 billion of copper and gold—estimates that can double. Bristow also affirmed Barrick’s agreement to sign an MoU with Mari Energies Ltd to explore nearby mineral properties, which marks further investment into the area.
Nonetheless, the project is confronted with significant challenges, most notably security issues. The recent attack by Balochistan separatist militants resulted in more than 50 deaths, emphasising the danger of doing business in the troubled province. Bristow remains upbeat, however, citing the generation of 7,500 jobs during the height of construction and 4,000 permanent positions after launch, prioritising local hiring and training.
Barrick Gold To Invest $7 Billion in Reko Diq Project
A Fresh Start After Legal Battles
Pakistan and Balochistan governments hold a 50% stake in the project, acquired after Antofagasta exited following a decade-long legal dispute. Barrick, the world’s second-largest gold miner, has since taken full operational lead and is positioning Reko Diq as part of its broader strategy to focus on ‘tier one’ assets and increase copper production—a metal vital to the global energy transition.
With other interest reportedly on the way from Saudi Arabia’s state-owned Ma’aden to invest in the project, Reko Diq may soon become a regional hub of mining, investment, and development—if Pakistan can ensure the political stability and security required to support it.

For cricket lovers around the world, the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is shaping up to be something special. After more than a century, cricket is finally returning to the Olympic stage—and in the shortest, fastest format of them all: T20. But here’s the catch—Pakistan might not make the cut.
Only Six Spots, Big Dreams
Unlike ICC events, Olympic cricket won’t feature ten or twelve teams. Just six. Yes, only six men’s and six women’s teams will get to compete in LA.
That’s a big blow for many cricketing nations. Especially when the top six in the ICC T20I rankings are likely to be the ones heading to Hollywood. Right now, Pakistan sits at number seven—just outside the bubble.
India, Australia, England, New Zealand, West Indies, and South Africa currently occupy those golden spots.
Unless Pakistan climbs up the rankings fast, their dream of playing at the Olympics may remain just that—a dream.
Host Nation Dilemma: Will USA Get a Free Pass?
One twist in the story is whether the United States, as the host nation, will get automatic qualification. If that happens, it means only five other teams will make it based on rankings. The competition will get even tougher.
The official qualification pathway hasn’t been finalised yet, but it’s expected to be announced later this year.
Now here’s another unique Olympic curveball—the West Indies issue. In ICC tournaments, they play as one team. But in the Olympics, Caribbean countries compete separately. So who represents them?
We saw this play out at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. There, Barbados took part on behalf of the West Indies because they won the regional tournament. Will it be the same story for LA28? Possibly. But again, nothing’s confirmed.
Time Is Ticking for Pakistan
With all these uncertainties around the LA Olympics 2028, one thing is clear—Pakistan needs to act fast. Climbing up to the top six in the T20I rankings won’t be easy, but it’s the only straightforward route available—for now.
And for a country that won the T20 World Cup in 2009, missing out on the Olympics would be heartbreaking.
If Pakistan wants to be part of history in 2028, the push has to start now—on the field, in the rankings, and in the boardroom. Because let’s be honest—a cricket Olympics without Pakistan just wouldn’t feel complete.

Pakistani drama industry is not slowing down! Hit after hit, back to back. From Fahad Mustafa and Hania Amir’s “Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum” to Bilal Abbas and Dur-e-Fishaan’s “Ishq Murshid” and now Ahad Raza Mir and Dananeer Mobeen’s “Meem Se Mohabbat,” the masterpieces seem to not slow down at all.
Currently, Meem Se Mohabbat is the talk of the town. Due to its record-breaking streak, the drama has joined the prestigious 1 billion views club on YouTube.
Meem Se Mohabbat Topping Viewership Charts
‘Meem Se Muhabbat’ revolves around a moving drama that very beautifully highlights the intervention of coincidence and destiny, bringing together two souls who could not be more dissimilar in their essence. It is very beautiful to see how love grows and manifests despite the circumstances and uncertainties. The simplicity and beauty of the drama have made it immensely popular. So much so that the drama has become a sensation not only in Pakistan but across borders, especially in India and Bangladesh.
Since its premiere, Meem Se Mohabbat has consistently topped the viewership charts. Written by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Ali Hassan, it has aired 32 episodes so far, and each one has trended across multiple countries. Ahad and Dananeer On The Sets Of “Meem Se Mohabbat”
The Last Episode Airs Today: April 10th
No matter how successful a drama is, it needs to come to an end. The same is the case with this one, too. The makers of the drama have announced that the show will conclude its journey after a successful run of 33 episodes, leaving the fans heartbroken. And the saddest part is that the day is TODAY, aka 10 April.
In the teaser, the love between Talha and Roshi can be seen getting stronger. However, towards the very end, Talha seems to be very sad and worried. Perhaps due to the pain of losing his brother and sister-in-law. Everyone eagerly awaits how the bubbly Roshi will be able to endure this situation.
The success of Meem Se Mohabbat reflects the increasing global appeal of Pakistani dramas. Hopefully, this is just the start of immense success ahead!

Eventone C Price On Other Platforms

Possible Benefits of Using Eventone C Cream
Eventone C Cream is more than just a whitening product. While whitening products are always seen in a negative light, some are also used to make the skin less dull and depressing. Especially with the pollution levels, this is really necessary.
Possible Benefits of Using Eventone C Cream
Here are some benefits that people will achieve by using Eventone C:
Faded Dark Spots and Hyperpigmentation: Thanks to the high concentration of Vitamin C, this cream helps reduce melanin production, which fades dark spots and evens out skin tone.
Brightens Dull Skin: It gives the skin a natural, healthy glow by improving cellular turnover and boosting collagen production.
Anti-Aging Properties: Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles over time.
Hydrating and Soothing: Despite being rich in active ingredients, it’s gentle and moisturising, making it suitable even for sensitive skin.
A Heads Up: While Eventone C Cream is formulated to suit all skin types (normal, dry, oily, combination, and even sensitive skin) it is still advised that before using people with sensitive skin should always do a patch test first.
Some Risks and Warnings To Be Kept in Mind
The cream is nonetheless a clinical product and that leaves a room for side effects too. Even if these are rare, the cream in no way should be misused.
There are some specific circumstances under which the use of certain medications is contraindicated or considered dangerous. The risks and warnings associated with Eventone C cream are:
Allergic Reactions: Do not use Eventone C cream if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Doing so might result in an allergic reaction.
Skin Inflammation: Some people are sensitive to the product, and thus when applied, it reacts with the skin. Eventone C can cause redness, burning, or stinging. This is because some active ingredients are highly present, such as hydroquinone and kojic acid.
Dryness and Peeling: Some skin types tends to dry or fall off because it gets sensitive very easily during the first weeks of use. This can be controlled by reducing the rate of application and applying a moisturiser concurrently with the cream.
Problems with Long-Term Use: The cream can also be linked with long-term use that results in ochronosis, a disease that causes bluish-black discoloration of the skin. This is why, one needs to use it according to recommended guidelines given by a dermatologist.
The Right Way to Use Eventone C Cream
Whichever product you use, it is very important to use it the right way. Otherwise it’s all a waste. Here is how Eventone C is supposed to be used:
Cleanse your face with a mild face wash.
Apply a small amount of the cream to your face or target areas (dark spots, pigmentation, etc.).
Massage gently in upward circular motions until fully absorbed.
Use twice daily – once in the morning and once at night.
Don’t forget sunscreen during the day to avoid sun damage.
Pro Tip: Combine with a gentle Vitamin C serum or toner for enhanced results.
Is the Cream Worth Buying?
Yes, it is. And honestly, Eventone C Cream price in Pakistan is worth the benefits it gives. It is an affordable and effective skincare investment and is highly recommended by people who use it.

The countdown to PSL 10 is on, and excitement is sky-high. But just before the first ball is bowled, controversy has knocked on the door. And this time, it’s not about a dropped catch or a selection snub—it’s about a voice behind the mic.
Salman Butt in the Commentary Box
Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt, who was once banned for his role in the 2010 spot-fixing scandal, has been added to the PSL 10 commentary panel. But not everyone’s thrilled about it.
According to reports, franchise owners weren’t on board with this decision. They reportedly sent a joint letter to the PCB, requesting that no individual with a history of unethical conduct—like fixing—be allowed in the commentary team.
While the letter didn’t name Butt directly, the message was clear. But here’s the twist—the PCB didn’t back down. Just a day later, they unveiled a star-studded commentary panel, and yes, Butt’s name was right there.
In response to the franchises’ concerns, the league reportedly argued that Butt will only do Urdu commentary, which they suggested wouldn’t have much international exposure.
That explanation, honestly, feels a bit weak. Fixing scandals don’t need subtitles to tarnish reputations. And this is the landmark 10th edition of the PSL—we’re talking about legacy here.
But Wait—Wasn’t Amir Involved, Too?
This brings us to the elephant in the room—Mohammad Amir. He was also part of the 2010 scandal, along with Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt. Yet, Amir has been playing in the PSL since the very first season.
He spent eight years with the Karachi Kings before moving to the Quetta Gladiators. And let’s not forget, he even played for Pakistan again after serving his ban.
Yes, Amir was only 17 back then and reportedly acted under pressure from his captain. But that doesn’t completely erase his accountability. If redemption is an option for one, shouldn’t it be for all?
This situation has opened up a bigger debate: How do we, as fans and stakeholders, define second chances in cricket? Are we okay with watching a fixer bowl at 140 km/h but not okay with him discussing a powerplay on-air?
Maybe the franchises have a point about protecting the league’s image. But consistency matters too. If we’ve forgiven Amir—and even celebrated his comeback—then why is Butt’s voice such a big problem?

If you’re one of those fans who thought Sarfaraz Ahmed had quietly walked away from cricket, think again. The former Pakistan captain and current Team Director of Quetta Gladiators isn’t done just yet. In fact, he’s made it clear—he hasn’t retired and doesn’t plan to until he decides the time is right.
In a recent candid chat with a local sports platform, Sarfaraz spoke straight from the heart. And honestly, it felt more like a message to fans than a press statement.
“I haven’t announced my retirement yet,” he said, silencing all the whispers making rounds on social media.
It’s not just about playing for Pakistan anymore, and he’s aware of that. But for a guy who’s lived and breathed cricket, staying away from the pitch is no walk in the park.
“When someone has played cricket all their life, it obviously hurts to stay away from the game,” he admitted.
Sarfaraz Ahmed isn’t out there campaigning for a comeback. He’s just doing what he’s always done—giving his 100%, whether it’s in domestic cricket, PSL, or mentoring young guns in the Gladiators’ camp.
“I still keep some hope alive that maybe I’ll get another chance,” he shared.
“I never said that I have to play for Pakistan… I just want to perform well and give my best.”
It’s that old-school mindset—work hard, stay humble, and let your performance do the talking. And honestly, that’s something cricket fans can’t help but admire.
In typical Sarfaraz style, he didn’t go for drama or cryptic messages. Instead, he kept it simple. “When I feel the moment has arrived, I’ll say it myself—yes, my cricket is over now.”
Until then, let’s not rush him into retirement. He’s not clinging on. He’s just playing whatever game life throws at him—with honesty, patience, and a little bit of that Karachi street grit we all know him for.

Netflix Adolescence: An Insight into Misogyny, Incel Culture and Internet-Fueled Toxicity
I’m a huge fan of thriller shows. Every now and then, you’ll find me in front of the TV, endlessly scrolling through Netflix in search of that perfect blend of suspense, mystery and drama. It was one of these days when I came across Adolescence, directed by Phillip Barantini. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t heard about the show from the internet; it was perhaps everything social media could talk about lately. Keeping myself away from spoilers, I managed to navigate social media and finally decided to watch the show. I had an idea that it was about child abuse and murder, but nothing more than that. Little did I know that I was in for a roller-coaster of emotions.
The Frantic Beginning
Right from the bat, the show started with an enormous amount of energy. What I found weird was that there was no story build-up. The accused, aka Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper), is arrested in the first few minutes of the show by detectives Luke Bascombe (Ashley Walters) and Misha Frank (Faye Marsay), along with an entire team. The scene is probably one of the most intense of the entire series. From breaking the doors to shouting at the family members, entering Jamie’s room, arresting him and realising he has peed himself, everything happens very quickly but leaves a lasting impact.
The police then take Jamie to the police station and ask his parents, father Eddie Miller (Stephen Graham), mother Manda Miller (Christine Tremarco) and sister Lisa Miller (Amélie Pease) to follow. From the point Jamie sits in the van till he is taken to the police station, Owen Cooper’s mind-blowing acting keeps the audience gripped. He is crying, pleading and looks exhausted, and at that moment, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.
The One-Shot Brilliance
By this time, I understood the show wasn’t shot like any regular one. It felt longer than usual because the entire episodes were shot in one go. As a film student myself, I knew how difficult this could have been, which is why it instantly earned my appreciation. Now that I look at some of the behind-the-scenes footage of Adolescence, it’s truly amazing to see how the crew behind the camera has worked just as hard as the one in front.
Cinematographer Mathew Lewis filmed each episode using the DJI Ronin 4D paired with a Cooke SP3 32mm lens. This, however, was not Mathew and Phillip’s first one-shot project; the two had previously worked on Boiling Point, which was just as challenging.

Episode 3: A Mandatory Viewing
If you haven’t watched the show yet, you need to do it for episode 3, perhaps some of the most dramatic and exhilarating content I have seen on Netflix in a while. We’re all familiar with the age-old narrative of two people sitting on the opposite ends of a table, the mood confrontational, and the atmosphere almost eerie. But what made a similar scene from Adolescence absolutely unravelling?
In usual cases, the two people sitting across one another often include a serial killer or hardcore criminal and a fresh detective. But this time, on one end sat a young boy, 13-year-old Jamie Miller, accused of stabbing his classmate Katie (Emilia Holliday) and a female psychologist, Briony (Erin Doherty), on the other. This already makes the scenario a whole lot different. Their interaction that extends for more than an hour is by far the most entertaining part of the Netflix series. It is also the most important one.
What Really Happened?
What starts slow and friendly escalates in no time when Briony begins digging deeper, asking questions about his relationship with his father and what he thinks being a man means. The irritation within Jamie soon becomes apparent. From there on, we get a glimpse of what truly happened. Jamie tells Briony about Katie’s leaked nude photos and how the entire school made fun of her. Jamie, too, had seen these images but did not consider Katie to be her type because she was too “flat.” But despite Katie not being his type, Jamie asked her out, seeing that she was in a vulnerable position.
At this point, the conversation between Jamie and Briony feels like a tennis match, one that keeps getting interesting after every shot. Jamie’s constantly changing demeanor, from nonchalant to panicky and extremely aggressive at points, holds the audience together. On the contrary, Briony holds a calm demeanor, carefully paving her way through the session. It’s an absolute treat to watch Owen Cooper, a first-time actor, give perhaps one of the most brilliant performances Netflix has ever seen. You just couldn’t tell that this kid has never acted on television before.
The Emoji Code
One of the most shocking yet interesting moments of Adolescence was when Adam (Amari Bacchus), Detective Inspector Luke Bascombe’s (Ashley Walters) son, reveals the hidden meaning of the emojis under Jamie’s Instagram posts. Until then, the detective had a hard time understanding why Jamie would kill Katie; after all, he had no motive. So what exactly did these innocent-looking emojis mean?
The Emoji Code
Red Pill Emoji
You must have seen the pill left by Katie on Jamie’s profile. As innocent as it might look, this emoji signifies the concept of the “manosphere,” a term that is loosely connected to a network of websites and online forums that promote masculinity and even misogyny. The Red Pill was first seen being used in The Matrix. But why did Katie leave this emoji on Jamie’s profile? Perhaps because she believed that Jamie has bought into these toxic misogynist traits that the pill represents.
100 Emoji
While explaining to his dad, Adam elaborates on the 100 emoji that was also seen on Jamie’s profile. This emoji is quite popular among the incel groups where men believe that 80% of the women want 20% of the men. This gives birth to the idea that the majority of men are expelled from dating, and thus the hatred against women begins. Katie’s use of the emoji is a reaffirmation that Jamie already had, that he is perhaps among the undesirable men out there.
The fact that this thought is fed into young boys’ minds is simply disgusting. A lot of it comes from the lectures and motivational speeches of people like Andrew Tate, a figure prominently discussed in the Netflix show. Tate often mentions how it is important to get to the top because without it, you’re nothing but a loser, and women will not want you. This often puts the idea in young minds that their worth is only determined by how much they are desired, which is completely unfair.
Dynamite Emoji
The Dynamite emoji was yet another emoji that Katie used on Jamie’s profile. It is an extreme version of the red pill and indicates a misogynist mindset that has gone to the extreme. In the show, when Katie used the dynamite emoji with the red pill emoji, she meant that Jamie has extreme internalised hatred and toxic beliefs to the point that he can be dangerous to others.
Kidney Beans Emoji
The kidney beans have to be the most random out of all. Turns our, this emoji is often used to self identify or identify someone else of being part of the incel community.
The Heart Emojis
We also saw a bunch of random heart emojis in different colours. Each one meant something in particular.
Red Heart: Represents genuine love
Yellow Heart: Suggest cautious interest
Pink Heart: Shows interest but not in an intimate way
Purple Heart: Indicates sexual desire
Orange Heart: Symbolises reassurance
Life Moves On
For me, personally, I was expecting something mind-boggling to happen in the end. Maybe, by the end of the show, I was hoping that Jamie didn’t do it despite seeing the CCTV footage in the beginning. It has a lot to do with the fact that even though Jamie was a cold-blooded murderer, the story was so personalised that you end up feeling for him. After all, he was the product of a bigger and messier social issue.
But seeing the last episode made me realise that sometimes, we need to accept things for what they are. Unlike most shows, the last episode of Adolescence was slow but highly impactful. Jamie admits his crime in a phone call to his father, an admission that feels like a relief. The main focus of the episode, however, is Jamie’s family. As the Millers celebrate Eddie Miller’s birthday, the viewers notice an emotional rollercoaster, one that perhaps will get steady with time. The family slowly accepts that their son will spend the rest of his life away from them, and perhaps there is nothing they can do now.
Stephen Graham Steals the Show
What broke my heart the most was the helplessness of the parents- the feeling of failing their only son. By the end of the episode, we see Eddie Miller go into Jamie’s room, something he hasn’t done since Jamie’s arrest, and completely breaks down. The scene feels like a sucker punch right into your chest; you cant help but cry. Eddie apologises to Jamie’s teddy bear, and at that moment, we realise that this is the very room where Jamie learnt all the propaganda that led him to kill Katie. As sad as one might feel for Eddie, we need to remember that Jamie was serving the consequences of his actions.
Stephen Graham as Eddie Miller in Adolescence
A Must Watch
If there is one show you need to watch right now, it is Adolescence. Let the amazing storytelling, brilliant production and mind-blowing performances sweep you.

Player Tracking Technology to be introduced in HBL PSL X
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the introduction of Player Tracking Technology in the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), set to begin on April 11. According to a statement issued by the PCB, this technology will capture detailed data from every ball during PSL X matches.
“The players’ movements, including fielders’ coordinates, bowler run-ups and batting stances on the field will be tracked frame-by-frame on each delivery,” the PCB stated. This means fans watching PSL 10 will be able to view all this data on their screens in real time during the games.
Key Features
The key features of the Player Tracking Technology include performance analysis based on zones for fielders, integration of scoring zones for batters, analysis of catching techniques during caught dismissals, and detailed breakdowns of field placements.
Player Tracking Technology to be Introduced in HBL PSL X
This development follows PCB’s earlier announcement of introducing auto no-ball detection technology for PSL 10. The board aims to build a fully tech-supported system for match officiating. A spokesperson added: “From auto no-ball detection and live umpire communication to DRS and innings timers, match logging and real-time multi-angle replays, every HBL PSL match of this edition will operate with a comprehensive tech-backed officiating ecosystem.”
Focusing on Innovation
HBL PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer emphasised the league’s focus on innovation. “The HBL PSL has always embraced innovation, and with the introduction of Player Tracking Technology in its upcoming edition, we are taking a step forward in enriching the fan experience,” he said.“Our goal has always been to deliver world-class coverage. Player Tracking Technology is another step towards making the HBL PSL a benchmark for modern cricket broadcasting,” Naseer added.
The tournament will begin with defending champions Islamabad United playing against Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. PSL 10 will be held in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi, with the final scheduled at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on May 18. A total of 34 matches will be played over 37 days.

Following weeks of silence, Apoorva Mukhija — popularly known online as The Rebel Kid — has emerged from the shadows. In an emotional video uploaded on April 9, the 23-year-old influencer finally broke her silence on the firestorm that erupted over her appearance on India’s Got Latent (IGL). The controversy, which began in February, had sparked public outrage, death threats, and a media circus that forced Mukhija to go into hiding.
The Viral Moment that Sparked it All
During a judging stint on IGL alongside Ranveer Allahbadia aka Beer Biceps, Jaspreet Singh, and Ashish Chanchalani, Apoorva clapped back at a contestant’s off-colour comment. While her biting comeback was heralded by some as fearless, others found it “too aggressive.” The backlash came fast and furious — but the offending male contestant whose comment set it all in motion? Hardly spoken of.
Her Comeback: Raw, Honest, and Unfiltered
In her YouTube video, Apoorva addressed her audience directly. “It wasn’t a punchline,” she said. “It came from anger.” She explained that her intention was never to offend — perhaps bruise one delicate ego. Nevertheless, she acknowledged that her words may have hurt others and vowed to do better. It wasn’t a performance. It was an apology, a boundary, and a statement all at once.
Extreme action followed her remarks. Apoorva disclosed that she was receiving rape and acid attack threats. Brand opportunities disappeared. Paparazzi escorted her to police stations. Relatives slut-shamed her. Her mother’s social media wasn’t immune either. A single FIR traumatised her family — but worse for her was watching her parents suffer.
In the darkest of times, one message from her father kept her centred: “Kuch bhi ho jaye, main tere saath hoon.”
Source: Bollywood Shaadi
A New Chapter?
Apoorva’s video has elicited a mixed reaction. Some still nitpick her words. Others have lauded her courage and candor. But one thing is certain: she’s taking back her voice, and not on anyone else’s terms.
In a time when silence is enforced and outrage is immediate, Mukhija’s message is a reminder — influencers are public figures, but they’re human beings. And sometimes, defending yourself comes at a price.

Everything changed the moment I discovered the Double Call Translation feature on the Infinix NOTE 50 Series.
Language has always served as a bridge between cultures, but for many, it can also act as a barrier. Differences in language can make meaningful conversations challenging. Whether you are connecting with international colleagues, making new friends, or traveling to foreign countries, the inability to communicate fluently can be frustrating. However, the Infinix NOTE 50 Series features exceptional AI capabilities that can act as your personal translation assistant, helping to overcome these communication obstacles.
As someone who has always been fascinated by different cultures, I’ve long dreamed of learning French to connect with the rich heritage and vibrant communities across the French-speaking world. However, everything changed the moment I discovered the Double Call Translation feature on the Infinix NOTE 50 Series. Powered by the phone’s One Tap AI capabilities, communication is now seamless. I can speak freely on calls, and the Infinix AI Phone translates in real-time, making conversations feel effortless.
Netflix Shows That Are ACTUALLY Funny (And Worth It Too)
Let’s be honest — we’ve all been there. You log into Netflix, hoping to find something genuinely funny to watch and 30 minutes later, you’re still scrolling. It makes us wonder if Netflix even produces anything funny anymore. The platform is so flooded with options now that it can be overwhelming. In fact, not all comedy Netflix shows are created equal, either- some are cringe-worthy, others try too hard, and a few are just… meh.
Best Comedy Netflix Shows
Fortunately though, there are still some very good comedies out there. Yes, humour is subjective, but sometimes a script is so good that almost everyone ends up sharing a laugh or two because of it.
1- Derry Girls
In this teen sitcom, five friends: Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson), Orla (Louisa Harland), Clare (Nicola Coughlan), Michelle (Jamie-Lee O’Donnell) and James (Dylan Llewellyn) experiences adolescence and navigate their teenage years during a period of political and cultural unrest in ’90s Northern Ireland known as the Troubles. The group attend a Catholic girls’ secondary school (can’t figure out why James was in it though) and find themselves in one ridiculous situation after another under the watchful side-eye of their dry-humoured headmistress, Sister Michael (Siobhán McSweeney). The show humorously sheds light on a fiercely violent conflict between Protestant Unionists and Catholic Nationalists over geographical borders and national identity.
With the satirical humour that Gen Z relates to and a banging soundtrack that nostalgic millennials will adore, Derry Girls will get anyone laughing without trying too hard.
2. Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Oh yes, we are getting into the classic ones here too. No one can discuss comedy shows without mentioning Brooklyn Nine-nine. The series is criminally hilarious (pun intended).
The show follows the detectives of Brooklyn’s 99th precinct as they solve crimes, go on wacky adventures, and somehow always end up in another office-wide shenanigan. When Captain Ray Holt takes over command of Brooklyn’s 99th precinct, the men and women of the Brooklyn Nine-Nine line up to impress him, but high-performing detective Jake Peralta isn’t about to revamp his reputation for skirting the rules.
For anyone who’s up to their eyeballs in dark, gritty crime dramas, this comedy feels like a breath of fresh air. And what really sets Brooklyn Nine-Nine apart is that it’s smart. The show manages to blend clever writing, pop culture references, and rapid-fire one-liners without ever relying on lazy or offensive jokes. It’s inclusive, self-aware and somehow never controversial. Big respect to scripts that can be humorous without being disrespectful.
3. The Good Place
This show is what happens when philosophy meets comedy — and somehow, it works brilliantly.
Kristen Bell plays Eleanor, a woman who accidentally ends up in “The Good Place” (heaven, basically) after her death. Here she has to pretend to be a good person to stay there. During her life on earth, Eleanor was kind of a selfish jerk. Hence, her being in the “the Good Place” seems like a mistake. But now it is what it is.
In an attempt to stay put, Eleanor resolves to become a better person and turns to her new neighbour, Chidi for help. Chidi is a professor of ethics and moral philosophy and begins giving Eleanor “lessons” while the two attempt to keep her secret from fellow inhabitants Tahani and Jason as well as the Good Place creator, Michael and his programmed humanoid (“not a robot!”) assistant, Janet. But Eleanor and her friend soon discover that their little neighbourhood in the afterlife is full of surprises. Witty, quirky, and refreshingly introspective, The Good Place will leave you thinking long after you’ve stopped giggling.
4- I Think You Should Leave
For those whose humour involve grimacing at the most absurd situations, the Emmy-nominated “I Think You Should Leave” is the perfect fit.
Each episode of the sketch series sees mastermind Tim Robinson and an impressive roster of guest stars in various social and professional settings. Usually, someone does something embarrassing and then, instead of owning the mistake, they spend the remainder of the segment attempting to gaslight everyone around them and make everything even more unhinged.
The results are something you can’t look away from — and can’t stop laughing at. Who knew gaslighting can be funny too!
5- Sex Education
The name often gives an opposite impression. However, unlike the name, the show is cleverly filled with modern society’s jokes and life lessons.
As the son of sex therapist Jean Milburn, Otis Milburn finds himself uniquely equipped to help his fellow students at Moordale Secondary with their intimacy problems. He and his classmate Maeve set up a sex therapy clinic at school to do just that and not surprisingly they quickly find success. But things get complicated when Otis can’t help but develop feelings for his business partner.
From Asa Butterfield’s brilliantly awkward portrayal of Otis to Gillian Anderson’s impeccable comedic timing as his mother, Dr. Jean Milburn, there’s so much to love about Sex Education. The show wasn’t just funny; it also challenged social stigmas around sex, gender, and relationships; proving to be a turning point in helping normalise conversations that a lot of young people struggle to have.
Whether you love clever writing, absurd sketches, or character-driven chaos, there’s something on this list to make you laugh (and maybe cry, but in a good way).

US Companies Are Wishing to Invest in Pakistan's Mineral Sector
According to sources, US companies are seeking to invest in Pakistan’s largely untapped mineral sector. “This could help boost one of the world’s largest copper and gold deposits,”the Pakistani government said Wednesday.
According to a government statement, Eric Meyer, Senior Bureau Official for the State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, expressed this interest to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a meeting in Islamabad. Meyer attended the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum. This was an international summit designed to attract foreign investment in the country’s mining sector.
Pakistan’s vast mineral potential can benefit both countries, says US delegation
Pakistan’s Mineral Deposits
Pakistan is rich in lithium, a mineral that is used to make batteries. It also has a lot of gold and copper reserves. Pakistan’s massive copper and gold deposits are located in Reko Diq, a district in restive Balochistan. Major international corporations, including Barrick Gold, which is based in Canada, as well as government officials from the United States, Saudi Arabia, China, Turkiye, the United Kingdom, and Azerbaijan, among other nations, have attended the summit. The powerful head of Pakistan’s army, Gen. Asim Munir, assured foreign investors and businesses that the military would guarantee their safety.
According to the statement, Meyer “acknowledged the potential of Pakistan’s mineral sector” and that American businesses are interested in investigating investment opportunities. He reaffirmed Washington’s interest in expanding bilateral cooperation, including in such sectors as trade, investment, and counterterrorism, the statement said. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan’s minerals sector offered “immense opportunities” and has encouraged U.S. companies to take advantage of the investment potential.
Sharif also said that Islamabad wanted to get closer to the Trump administration. Meyer’s visit marks the first by a Trump administration official since the US imposed a 29 percent tariff on Pakistani exports as part of his trade war. Sharif’s office said in a statement later Wednesday that the Pakistani prime minister will dispatch a high-level delegation to Washington to negotiate with Trump administration officials over the tariffs issue and to discuss how to enhance bilateral trade. Hoping that the investment potential can lure the international government and finally ease the tariffs a little bit.

US Ends Global UGRAD Program for Pakistani Students
A disappointing news for Pakistani students, the United States State Department has officially ended the UGRAD Programme for Pakistani students. This decision ends a popular exchange programme that ran for 15 years and helped thousands of Pakistani undergraduate students study in the US for a semester.
The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) confirmed this development on its website and social media. USEFP expressed concern for the students who had applied this year. “We understand this news will be particularly disheartening for those who applied and were looking forward to this opportunity,” the statement said.
The Global UGRAD programme began in Pakistan in 2010. It was not only about education—it gave students a chance to learn about American culture, grow leadership skills, and make international connections. Many students return home with new ideas and broader views.
USEFP praised the programme’s past impact and advised students to look for other scholarships and exchange programmes that matched their goals. The announcement ended by wishing students success in their future education and careers.
In addition to this, there have been reports from the US media about sudden visa cancellations affecting nearly 450 international students. Many of these students are from Pakistan and other Muslim countries. These cancellations were made without notice or a legal hearing. Students from top universities like Harvard, Stanford, UCLA, and the University of Michigan were affected.
University officials believe the US government is quietly cancelling the visas of students who supported Palestinian causes during campus protests. However, some students said their visas were cancelled even though they did not join any protests. This has raised serious concerns about the fairness and clarity of the process.
For Pakistani students, both the end of the Global UGRAD programme and sudden visa issues show that studying in the US is becoming more difficult and uncertain.

NADRA Suspends Nationality of Viral 'Chaiwala' Arshad Khan
Justice Jawad Hassan of the Lahore High Court has issued notices to the federal government and other respondents after viral ‘chaiwala’ Arshad Khan, challenged the blocking of his computerised national identity card (CNIC) and passport. Arshad Khan, who became famous in 2016 when a photo of him pouring tea went viral on Instagram, claims that his identity documents were unlawfully blocked by NADRA and the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports.
Represented by Barrister Umer Ijaz Gilani, Arshad Khan approached the court under Article 199 of the Constitution. His petition argues that the actions taken by NADRA and the immigration authorities were unconstitutional and illegal. Mr. Gilani stated that Arshad Khan represents the ideal Pakistani dream, rising from modest beginnings to global fame after his candid photograph as a tea seller went viral. He further claimed that despite his international recognition, the actions of NADRA and other authorities were harming Khan’s career and reputation.
Violation of Basic Rights
Gilani also argued that the requirement by NADRA for pre-1978 proof of residency was unjustified, with no legal basis. He emphasised that Mr. Khan’s family had documented citizenship history. Referring to Articles 4, 9, 14 and 18 of the Constitution, the lawyer highlighted that Khan’s rights to livelihood, dignity, and lawful treatment were violated.
The court was informed of precedents from the Sindh High Court, Islamabad High Court, and previous judgments of the Lahore High Court, which had declared the blocking of CNICs and passports without due process to be illegal. In response, the assistant attorney general and NADRA’s law officer questioned the maintainability of the petition, arguing that Khan had failed to provide enough documentation proving his Pakistani nationality.
Justice Hassan issued notices to the respondents, requesting para-wise comments and ordering senior officials from NADRA and the Directorate of Immigration and Passports to present relevant records to explain their actions. The court also barred the authorities from taking any adverse actions against Khan.
In a related matter, Justice Hassan restrained the authorities from taking any coercive action against another petitioner seeking recognition of Pakistani citizenship by birth. The petitioner, born in Pakistan to Afghan refugee parents, had presented a birth certificate issued by the Government of Pakistan. The court directed NADRA to make a decision on his citizenship claim within a month and prohibited any government agency from taking action against him until the matter was resolved.

How Tariffs Work, and How They Will Affect the Global Economy
“Trump’s tariffs” have taken the world by storm. Now, every day, we hear a new tariff policy being thrown at us, which is followed by a ruckus worldwide. But what even are tariffs? How do tariffs work, and why are they affecting the global economy to such a great extent?
What are Tariffs?
At their core, tariffs are taxes imposed by a government on goods imported from another country. Think of them as a surcharge that foreign products must pay to enter a domestic market. Unlike income tax, tariffs vary based on the product and the country of origin. It is stated that the goal of tariffs is to raise funds for the government and help in the distribution of money. But honestly, it is mostly used as a weapon against foreign exporting firms.
The intention behind a tariff is typically to make imported goods more expensive, thereby giving locally produced goods a price advantage.
There are two main types of tariffs:
Specific Tariffs: a fixed fee per unit (e.g., $10 per ton of steel).
Ad Valorem Tariffs: a percentage of the value of the imported good (e.g., 25% of the value of a car).
Governmental bodies implement tariffs for their own political benefits, but who pays the cost of it? The consumers, which means the locals. Think of it like this: when you go to the store to buy a new shirt, the price of that shirt has increased. Then the rest of the impact is borne by those in the middle—the retailers and firms—that are purchasing those goods from foreign countries and taking them all the way to the stores to you.
What are Tariffs?
The Economic Chain Reaction
When a country imposes tariffs, it sets off a domino effect. Imported goods become more expensive, which might seem like a win for domestic producers who now face less foreign competition. However, the benefits are rarely black and white.
Here’s why: Many industries rely on global supply chains. For instance, a car manufactured in the U.S. might use parts from Germany, Japan, or Mexico. If tariffs are imposed on those parts, the entire cost structure of the vehicle rises — and that increase is often passed on to consumers.
In short, while tariffs aim to protect domestic jobs, they can just as easily lead to higher prices, lower consumer spending, and even job losses in industries reliant on imports.
The Political Tool that Cuts Both Ways
Tariffs are often used as bargaining chips in trade negotiations. We saw this happen dramatically during the ongoing U.S.- China trade war. Both nations imposed wave after wave of tariffs on each other’s goods. While the U.S. aimed to curb China’s trade surplus and protect intellectual property, the tit-for-tat escalation ended up hurting businesses and consumers on both sides.
Stock prices on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange
This kind of economic brinkmanship can create uncertainty in global markets. Investors become jittery, businesses delay investments and supply chains are forced to reorganise — sometimes at great cost.
Moreover, when large economies like the U.S. or China engage in tariff wars, smaller economies often get caught in the crossfire. Emerging markets that depend on exporting intermediate goods or raw materials may see demand drop, leading to currency instability and slower growth.
In the long run, persistent tariff use risks reshaping global trade itself. Companies might start “reshoring” or “nearshoring” production to avoid future disruptions. While this could boost local manufacturing in some regions, it might also fragment global supply chains, reduce efficiency, and increase production costs worldwide.
There’s also the threat of retaliatory measures. No country wants to be the loser in a trade fight, and when one imposes tariffs, others often respond in kind. This tit-for-tat approach can spiral into a full-blown trade war, where everyone ends up worse off — a scenario economists have warned about for decades.
Future of Global Trade
The future of global trade depends on cooperation, not confrontation. If nations continue to treat tariffs as political power plays rather than strategic tools, we may find ourselves paying a much higher price than any import tax could justify.
