Oppo has expanded its budget phone lineup with the international release of three models: Oppo A5, A5 5G, and A5x. These phones aim to provide high-end performance at affordable prices. Here’s everything you need to know about them.

Oppo A5: A Powerhouse in Disguise

Don’t mix it up with the previous Chinese model — the international Oppo A5 boasts a new design and a stellar spec list. It has a 6.67-inch LCD screen with 720×1604 resolution. A silky-smooth 90 Hz refresh rate, 180 Hz touch sampling, and 1,000 nits peak brightness. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 1 4G chipset inside.

Photography is managed by a dual-camera configuration: a 50 MP primary sensor and a 2 MP monochrome sensor. There’s a 5 MP front camera positioned in an unobtrusive punch-hole notch. The phone contains a humongous 6,000 mAh battery that’s paired with 45W wired fast charging.

It comes pre-installed with Android 15 topped with ColorOS 15, and features such as a 3.5mm earphone jack. Storage sizes are 6/128GB, 8/128GB, 4/256GB, and 8/256GB, utilising LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage.

Oppo A5 5G: Performance Meets Speed

The A5 5G builds on the A5’s base but boosts the experience with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 240 Hz touch sampling rate for smoother interactions. It’s powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chip, offering 5G connectivity for users who want future-ready tech.

The rear camera configuration is the same as on the A5 4G, but the front selfie camera gets a small upgrade to 8 MP. RAM/storage options are 4/128GB, 6/128GB, and 8/256GB, with UFS 2.2 storage for better read/write speeds.

Colours available: Mist White and Aurora Green.

Oppo A5x: Simplicity Refined

The A5x has almost all the specs of the A5 4G, minus a single 32 MP rear camera and the removal of the secondary monochrome sensor. It is available in Midnight Blue and Laser White, with storage capacities of 4/64GB, 4/128GB, 6/128GB, and 8/128GB.

Although Oppo has not yet announced market-specific availability and pricing, the three phones should become available worldwide in the near future.

Babar Azam Reveals His Dream T20I World XI

mohsin-naqvi-opens-up-about-babar-azam-replacement-who-should-be-captain-younis-khan-supports-babar-azam

When you ask Babar Azam to pick a dream T20I XI, you know you’re in for something special. The Peshawar Zalmi skipper — and arguably Pakistan’s finest modern batter — recently dropped his ideal playing XI on the Off Topic Zalmi Podcast.

But there was a catch: only two players per country were allowed. That made things very interesting.

Two Pakistani Players in the List

First things first, yes — Mohammad Rizwan is in the team. Babar didn’t hesitate to include his longtime friend and opening partner, and honestly, would you expect anything less?

The chemistry between the two at the top of the order has been one of Pakistan’s strongest assets in T20Is over the years. And here’s the kicker: Rizwan isn’t the only Pakistani on the list.

While most expected Babar to pick himself, he humbly stepped aside and instead picked Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan’s explosive left-hander who can change a game in a few overs.

So that’s Rizwan and Fakhar representing the Green Shirts. Balance? Check. Power? Double check.

Rest of the Team

From across the border, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav made the cut — and rightfully so.

Rohit brings calmness, experience, and swagger at the top, while SKY’s unorthodox strokeplay and fearless approach make him a nightmare for bowlers.

You can’t build a T20 XI without including someone like Jos Buttler. The former England captain is one of the most dangerous white-ball players in the world, and Babar knows it.

To balance it out, he chose Mark Wood — the express pacer who can rattle any batter with raw pace and sharp bounce.

From South Africa, Babar selected David Miller, the ultimate finisher, and Marco Jansen, the tall, lanky left-arm seamer who also packs a punch with the bat.

Miller’s ability to hold his nerve in crunch situations makes him a must-have, while Jansen’s versatility as a bowling all-rounder adds crucial depth to the squad.

Two Aussies — Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc — made the cut, and you can’t really argue. Starc brings toe-crushing yorkers, while Cummins offers pace, bounce, and leadership. Together, they can run through any batting order on their day.

No surprises here: Rashid Khan rounds off the XI. He’s been the poster boy of Afghan cricket and arguably the best T20 spinner in the world.

Whether it’s the Powerplay, middle overs, or death, Rashid can do it all — and Babar, having faced him plenty of times, clearly knows his value.

The World T20I XI of Babar Azam

Here’s Babar Azam’s Dream T20I XI:

  1. Rohit Sharma (India)

  2. Mohammad Rizwan (Pakistan)

  3. Fakhar Zaman (Pakistan)

  4. Suryakumar Yadav (India)

  5. Jos Buttler (England)

  6. David Miller (South Africa)

  7. Marco Jansen (South Africa)

  8. Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)

  9. Pat Cummins (Australia)

  10. Mitchell Starc (Australia)

  11. Mark Wood (England)

President Zardari, PM Shehbaz Praise Armed Forces on Youm-e-Tashakkur

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif observed Youm-e-Tashakkur on Friday, thanking Allah for the success of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos and honouring the armed forces.

President Zardari said Pakistan will never compromise on sovereignty, territorial integrity, or core national interests. “Any aggression against the homeland will be met with full force,” he said.

Referring to Pakistan’s response to Indian aggression, he said, “It is a great moment for us to celebrate the success of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos in response to Indian unprovoked aggression. I am grateful to Almighty Allah for blessing us with victory in this critical hour.” He also praised the armed forces, saying, “This victory not only belongs to Pakistan’s armed forces but also to the entire Pakistani nation, who stood like Bunyan-um-Marsoos (fortified wall) against the enemy aggression.”

“I am proud of the armed forces who responded to Indian provocation with precision, professionalism, and strength. I am glad that the world witnessed and acknowledged Pakistan’s patience and restraint, as well as the operational effectiveness that compelled the enemy to cease its aggression. We stood firm. We stood united. And we emerged victorious with dignity,” he added.

He also stressed Pakistan’s peaceful intent, stating, “Pakistan is a peace-loving country and does not harbour aggressive design against any country. However, let there be no doubt, Pakistan will never compromise… Any aggression… will be met with full force.”

On the Indus Water Treaty, he said, “We reject any unilateral suspension… Pakistan will utilise all elements of national power to protect its water rights at all costs.”

“To our brave soldiers… we offer them our eternal gratitude,” he remarked.

“As President… I affirm… we will always stand shoulder to shoulder with our armed forces… May Allah bless our nation. A’ameen. Pakistan Paindabad!”

PM Shehbaz called the operation Marka-e-Haq. He said India’s attack killed innocent citizens, and Pakistan had to respond. “In just a few hours, an enemy which was many times bigger came to its knees… planes which were the pride of India turned into ashes…”

He praised the armed forces for their “befitting reply” and said their efforts wrote “a golden chapter” in history. “Our Shaheens hammered the enemy,” he said.

“Our operation was against… animosity against humanity, aggression, religious extremism and bias. This is the success of our honour and principles… of the armed forces and the entire nation.”

He thanked General Asim Munir for his leadership, Air Chief Zaheer Babar and “his Shaheens”, Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf and all political leaders for showing unity.

From Islamophobic Narrative to Political Alliance with Middle East: Trump’s Diplomatic Shift

From Islamophobic Narrative to Engagement with Muslim Nations: Trump Takes a Diplomatic U-Turn
From Islamophobic Narrative to Engagement with Muslim Nations: Trump Takes a Diplomatic U-Turn

Today, Donald Trump is seen smiling and waving in the Gulf states while shaking hands with Emirati officials and praising the “modernity” of the UAE. Any Muslim around the world will see how fictional this seems; almost strange and weirdly suspicious. This is the same man who once called for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.” The same president who has built his entire political career out of “Islamophobia.” The one who blatantly made fun of Muslim women wearing Burqas during the 2015 election campaign, saying they didn’t need makeup underneath and that they don’t wish to be free.

Now, after years of vilifying Muslims both at home and abroad, he wants to have a good relationship with the Middle East? Sounds like a diplomatic shift? Let’s take a closer look at it.

A Presidency Built on Islamophobia

From the very start of his political career, Trump treated Muslims not as constituents but as threats. His campaign was built on fearmongering.

Trump will bring an administration that is entirely devoid of Muslim Americans and at minimum, individuals without genuine reach into or backing from Muslim Americans. His campaign lacked any bona fide Muslim American involvement, and the Trump administration will likely reflect that.

– Trump’s 2016 Election Campaign

Back in 2015, Trump joked that women who wear burqas look better because “they don’t have to wear makeup.” In another moment, he suggested mosques should be surveilled and that American Muslims were celebrating 9/11 (an outright lie that was widely debunked). His infamous “Muslim ban” targeted citizens from several Muslim-majority countries, tore families apart and told millions of Muslims that their very identity made them un-American.

Instead of “Islam is peace.” Trump declared that “Islam hates us.” He embraced the hateful language of Quran-burning rallies, anti-mosque protests and perhaps most violently, the ugly underbelly that is the comment sections of news articles.

The media, civil society organisations and global observers criticised Trump for fueling Islamophobia and promoting divisive policies. Al Jazeera even labelled him the “Islamophobia President” after his 2016 election win. His policies were seen not only as discriminatory but also as damaging to America’s standing in the Muslim world.

Trump’s Diplomatic Shift: A Pivotal Point, But Why?

Fast forward to 2025, and Trump’s recent Gulf visit paints a strikingly different picture.

As reported by Al Jazeera and The Guardian, Trump hailed the “strengthened relations” with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and emphasised mutual economic and strategic interests. Speaking in Abu Dhabi, he praised the UAE’s modernisation efforts and expressed admiration for the region’s economic dynamism. The words contrasted sharply with his earlier portrayals of the Muslim world as regressive and threatening.

This transformation is not without context, though.

Trump now has enduring political ambitions and global business interests that seem to be making him keen on repositioning himself on the international stage. Analysts suggest that economic interests, particularly Trump Organisation projects and potential investments in Gulf states, may be driving this shift. Or maybe the need to make a good impression followingol the ongoing backlash due to tariffs.

Political Play in the Middle East

Trump’s evolving posture also reflects a broader shift in U.S. foreign policy. A policy that prefers strategic and economic calculations.

As Foreign Affairs noted, Trump’s current Middle East approach is grounded in transactional diplomacy. While his administration maintained strong ties with authoritarian regimes like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, it showed little regard for human rights issues and genocide funding in similar regions.

It’s all just geopolitical alliance and arms deals; nothing more.

Political Play in the Middle East
Political Play in the Middle East

Yet, the implications of Trump’s diplomatic U-turn are significant. It reflects a broader trend of depoliticising religious identity in international relations and underscores the enduring importance of engagement over exclusion. Lastly, one thing is clear: his relationship with the Muslim world has shifted from confrontation to cooperation. Albeit of his own terms and personal ideology.

Mike Hesson Wants Babar-Rizwan in Pakistan’s T20 Plans Again

babar-azam-against-management-for-rizwan-batting-position-mike-hesson-wants-babar-azam-rizwan-in-pakistan-t20i

Just when it seemed like the Babar Azam-Rizwan era in T20 cricket was being quietly phased out, Pakistan’s newly appointed head coach Mike Hesson may be flipping the script.

There’s been a lot of chatter lately — some whisperings, some insider scoops — but all signs point in one direction: Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan could soon be back in Pakistan’s T20 setup.

New Coach, Fresh Perspective

Hesson, who’s still getting his feet under the desk in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has already started making moves.

According to reliable sources, he recently met selector Aqib Javed to align on what the future T20 squad should look like. And surprise, surprise — Babar and Rizwan are very much a part of that picture.

Why the change of heart? Well, Hesson sees them as “match-winners.”

Read More: Misbah-ul-Haq to Return as Pakistan’s Red-Ball Head Coach?

But here’s the twist: he doesn’t want the old version of Babar Azam and Rizwan. He wants the aggressive, fire-in-the-eyes versions — the ones who can anchor and accelerate.

Word is, Hesson has told both players to work on their strike rates and adapt to the modern, fearless T20 game.

From Dropped to Desired

Not too long ago, both Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were left out of the T20I series against New Zealand. The selectors opted to give younger players some much-needed international exposure.

Rizwan, in particular, saw his T20I captaincy cut short recently. The leadership baton was passed to Salman Ali Agha, raising eyebrows and sparking debates across cricket circles in Pakistan.

But now, with the Asia Cup 2025 and the T20 World Cup 2026 on the horizon, Hesson seems to believe experience and calm heads will be crucial.

Why Babar-Rizwan Still Matter?

Let’s be real. Babar and Rizwan have been pillars of Pakistan’s T20 side for years. Sure, their approach came under scrutiny — especially around their strike rates — but numbers don’t lie. They’ve delivered time and again when it mattered.

Hesson isn’t asking them to be someone they’re not. He’s just nudging them to evolve with the game. That kind of coaching — where a player’s strengths are respected but their flaws are addressed — could be just what Pakistan needs to find that missing spark in their white-ball game.

All signs suggest that Babar and Rizwan aren’t done yet. With Mike Hesson backing them, and a bit of tactical tweaking, they could very well become the backbone of Pakistan’s T20 plans once again.

NASA Rover Observes First Visible Light Aurora at Mars

NASA Rover Observes First Visible Light Aurora at Mars
NASA Rover Observes First Visible Light Aurora at Mars

for all the space geeks, NASA has announced an exciting breakthrough with its Mars rover. For the first time, the rover recorded visible light auroras on the Red Planet. This discovery gives scientists valuable information about the Martian atmosphere and its interaction with solar wind, expanding our knowledge of the planet’s weather. “It opens up new possibilities for auroral research and confirms that auroras could be visible to future astronauts on Mars’ surface,” said Elise Knutsen, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oslo in Norway.

How was the Discovery Made?

NASA’s Perseverance rover, which is exploring Jezero Crater on Mars, captured this aurora. The phenomenon occurs when charged particles from the Sun collide with a planet’s atmosphere. On Earth, this creates the northern and southern lights. On Mars, the aurora appears differently and can only be seen under certain conditions, especially when the Sun’s solar wind meets the planet’s thin atmosphere.

Martian auroras may appear to future astronauts as a faint, green glow that hangs low in the night sky, as shown in this illustration.
Martian auroras may appear to future astronauts as a faint, green glow that hangs low in the night sky, as shown in this illustration.

The team behind the mission expected particles from the CME to react with oxygen atoms in the Martian atmosphere, causing a faint glow in a very precise shade of green. When they saw one aurora, they estimated it could trigger an aurora bright enough for their instruments to detect. It was indeed a “neat observation.”

Why It is Important

Mars lacks a global magnetic field like Earth’s. Instead, the planet has localised magnetic fields scattered across the surface. These weak fields allow solar wind to interact with Mars’ atmosphere and create the aurora, which are quite rare on Earth. Studying this interaction helps researchers learn more about the Martian atmosphere and its ability to protect against solar radiation. This discovery is crucial for future human missions to Mars.

NASA’s discovery of visible light auroras on Mars opens up new research opportunities. It provides valuable insights into Mars’ atmosphere and its interaction with solar winds. Further research will help scientists learn more about the Martian environment and the potential for human exploration of the Red Planet.

A $28 Document at Harvard has Turned out to be ‘One of the Most Valuable Documents’ in the World

A $28 Document at Harvard has Turned out to be ‘One of the Most Valuable Documents’ in the World
A $28 Document at Harvard has Turned out to be ‘One of the Most Valuable Documents’ in the World

What was once a humble $28 acquisition has now become a historical landmark find for Harvard University. Eighty years after its purchase of what was supposed to be an aged copy of the Magna Carta, the school has discovered that it owns a true original, signed by King Edward I in 1300. This humble-looking document, purchased from a London bookseller in 1946 for just $27.50, is now hailed as a priceless fragment of world history.

The Lasting Legacy of the Magna Carta

The Magna Carta, originally created in 1215, is a pillar of legal and democratic tradition, defining the rights of free men and placing constraints on the power of the English monarchy. Over the course of the 13th century, this very important charter was revised multiple times, the last being the 1300 version. It promised the protection of church rights and much more. Only extremely rare copies of these charters exist today, which makes Harvard’s acquisition even more notable.

A Scholarly Surprise

It was a surprising discovery when medieval historian Professor David Carpenter, of King’s College London, was browsing Harvard Law School Library’s digital archives. While browsing through the digital documents, one that stood out to him was an item labelled as a 1327 copy of the Magna Carta. When he took a closer look, Carpenter was amazed at what looked like an original from the 1300 release.

To confirm his intriguing intuition, Professor Carpenter recruited the aid of Nicholas Vincent, another medieval historian from the University of East Anglia. Professors Carpenter and Vincent went to Harvard with their evidence and asked that an ultraviolet scan of the document be undertaken for a closer inspection.

Unveiling a Hidden Treasure

Jonathan Zittrain, a Harvard professor and director of the law library, confessed to an early interest tempered with suspicion. Proving such a historical relic genuine demands careful research, compiling multiple clues in place of one conclusive instance.

Professor Zittrain recognised the lead role the UK scholars played in discovering this hidden gem of history. Had they not been so observant and experienced, Harvard may still have been unaware of the incredible worth hidden in its archives. In fact, he joked about the possibility of other hidden gems waiting to be discovered in the university’s enormous collections.

The Priceless Nature of History

Though the actual monetary value of Harvard’s Magna Carta is unknown, the eye-popping value of comparable original documents provides a hint. In 2007, a second original Magna Carta sold for a stunning $21.3 million at auction, highlighting the deep historical and cultural importance – and financial value – of Harvard’s serendipitous find. This happy accident is a powerful reminder that history’s greatest treasures can at times lie in the most mundane of locations.

“No Leaks at Any Nuclear Site in Pakistan,” IAEA Reports

“No Leaks at Any Nuclear Site in Pakistan,” IAEA Reports
“No Leaks at Any Nuclear Site in Pakistan,” IAEA Reports

The International Atomic Energy Agency or IAEA reports have dismissed Indian media allegations of radiation leakage or any nuclear accident in Pakistan. In an interview with BBC Urdu on Thursday, the international nuclear watchdog confirmed that “no leakage of radiation or incident has been identified at any nuclear installation in Pakistan.”

The explanation follows a spate of unsubstantiated reports by Indian media claiming the Indian Air Force had hit Pakistan’s Kirana Hills, which were said to house a nuclear arsenal cache. The IAEA rejection comes amidst increased tensions between the two nuclear-powered neighbours.

India Backpedals, Sarcasm and Denials

Responding to questions during a press conference, Indian Air Marshal AK Bharti replied sarcastically, “Thank you for telling us that there is a nuclear plant there—we didn’t know,” claiming that no attack on Kirana Hills had occurred. The Indian Air Force also officially denied attacking any nuclear facility.

In spite of denials, the furore has increased suspicion. Just last week, India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had made inflammatory statements calling on the IAEA to take over Pakistan’s nuclear stockpile, labelling the nation “irresponsible and rogue.”

“No Leaks at Any Nuclear Site in Pakistan,” IAEA Reports
“No Leaks at Any Nuclear Site in Pakistan,” IAEA Reports

Pakistan’s Foreign Office strongly condemned Singh’s comments as “provocative, misleading, and indicative of India’s increasing frustration.” The officials stressed that Pakistan’s nuclear programme is secure, professionally operated, and not dependent on threats or blackmail for deterrence.

“These comments demonstrate a complete misapprehension about the role of the IAEA,” said the Foreign Office spokesman, adding that it referenced established instances of nuclear mismanagement in India to challenge Pakistan’s own record.

Ceasefire Sticks, But Threats Remain

This comes as both countries mutually agreed to prolong a tenuous ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) until Sunday, May 18. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar briefed the Senate that this lull provides an opportunity for fresh dialogue.

But Pakistan’s military is still wary. DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry cautioned that any fresh fighting could escalate into disastrous war. “If India believes there is room for limited war, it is in fact making room for mutual destruction,” he said to Sky News.

While the IAEA’s conclusions render rumours a moot point, all eyes now are on whether or not both countries can keep calm—or if the cycle of fresh rhetoric will bring the region back to the precipice.

“Win or Learn: Babar Azam Slams Trolls Mocking Mohammad Rizwan

babar-azam-against-management-mohammad-rizwan-batting-position
Source: Cricinfo

In a world of cricket, pressure comes with the territory. But when that pressure starts spilling over into memes, mockery, and mental strain, someone needs to speak up. And that someone, this time, is none other than Babar Azam.

The former Pakistan captain recently took a stand for his teammate and close friend Mohammad Rizwan, whose now-famous phrase “win or learn” has become the latest punchline for social media trolls.

The Phrase That Sparked a Meme Storm

Let’s rewind. After one of Pakistan’s recent losses, Rizwan, ever the optimist, said,
“It’s not win or lose — it’s win or learn.”

It was a simple, positive message — the kind you’d expect from a player known for his resilience and calm demeanour. But instead of embracing the intent, parts of the internet turned it into a meme fest, often poking fun at Rizwan’s English.

Babar Azam Bites Back: “It’s Always Our Own”

In an honest and heartfelt chat on the Peshawar Zalmi YouTube channel, Babar Azam opened up about the toxicity that’s crept into online discussions.

“Who created this? This was created by our own,” Babar pointed out, clearly disheartened. “It’s always our own who are busy pulling each other down.”

Rather than rallying behind players who are trying to stay positive during tough times, fans (and let’s be real, some media too) often jump at the chance to ridicule.

According to Babar, Rizwan’s words came from a deeper, more motivational place. But social media, as it often does, stripped away the context and focused on the punchline.

“If he [Rizwan] said something from a different perspective, you can interpret and present it however you want,” Babar said, highlighting how quickly narratives can get twisted.

Mental Health: The Elephant in the Room

Babar Azam didn’t stop at just defending his friend. He took the opportunity to spotlight a much bigger issue in Pakistan’s sports culture — the lack of mental health awareness.

“In Pakistan, there is no concept of mental health, nor is there any work being done on it, while foreign players give mental health a lot of importance,” he said.

And he didn’t sugarcoat the public’s role either. “Here, if someone is falling, we just keep pushing them down — and make memes out of them,” he added.

Despite the trolling, Babar praised Rizwan for his unshakable faith and mental toughness.

“He is very strong — stronger than all of us… Memes have zero effect on Rizwan.”

Now that’s the kind of mindset every athlete (and frankly, every human) needs. Rizwan isn’t letting the noise get to him. According to Babar, he respects everyone’s right to an opinion, but isn’t bothered by it.

As Finale Hits, Here are the Bloodiest ‘Final Destination’ Deaths Ranked

Before the Finale Hits Tomorrow, Here are the Bloodiest 'Final Destination' Deaths Ranked
Before the Finale Hits Tomorrow, Here are the Bloodiest 'Final Destination' Deaths Ranked

“Death is the only ultimate truth, and it can never be avoided.” Guess which film reminds us about death the most? Yes, Final Destination. The film that traumatises us regarding our day-to-day activities, but also serves as a reminder that death might just be waiting around the corner.

A sequel of the film, “Final Destination Bloodline” is about to strike our screens again. And what better way to pay tribute to the franchise than reliving the core concept of it: Deaths.

7. Samantha’s Eye Surgery (FD5)

If Final Destination has taught us anything, it’s that everyday routines are death traps in disguise. Samantha just wanted better vision—what she got was a LASIK nightmare. The laser malfunctions, her head jerks, and then SPLAT—she faceplants onto a sharp object. The worst part? You know it’s coming, and the buildup is excruciating. This one scores high on tension and brutality, with a cherry-on-top eyeball rolling down the drain. Gross!!!

6. Hunt’s Pool Suction (FD4)

It’s the kill that made public pools seem… hostile. Hunt is the kind of character you want to see die, and oh boy, does the franchise deliver. A rogue coin, a cracked pool drain, and a horrifying second of realisation as Hunt gets literally disembowelled through his rectum. It’s one of the most ridiculous killings. Gore? Yes, but that’s the whole point of the movie.

5. Rory Gets Sliced and Diced (FD2)

Poor Rory. He goes out heroically, but not before getting annihilated like human sashimi. After a log-truck-triggered pileup that’s already peak carnage, Rory is severed by a flying piece of barbed wire fence. In a split second, his body goes from intact to deli meat. It’s one of the cleanest, yet bloodiest, kills—no time to scream, just pure, gory efficiency.

4. The Gymnast’s Folding Fail (FD5)

Gymnastics is dangerous, sure. But is this dangerous? The slow-burn tension here is chef’s kiss. A screw here, a powder puff there—Death’s dominoes line up with deadly grace until WHAM: a mid-air flip ends in an absolutely savage spinal snap. Bones jutting out, a trail of blood, and a silent gym watching in horror. Morbid, spine-shattering art.

3. Terry Gets Busted (FD1)

The kill that started the franchise’s love affair with shock value. Terry’s abrupt “drop dead” moment, punctuated by an actual bus, is iconic. It’s not the bloodiest by volume, but the impact—literally and figuratively—is huge. She explodes into a cloud of crimson mist mid-sentence. It’s the moment you realise no one is safe.

2. The Car Crash Opener (FD2)

Let’s get real: this entire sequence could be a top 10 list on its own. Wood through the face, explosions, decapitations—it’s pure vehicular carnage. The log smashing through a windshield and impaling a cop? Thrilling. What makes it worse (better?) is how real it feels. Every commuter’s nightmare was made even more gruesome. It’s a massacre on the interstate, and it’s one for the books. Every kid who watched this scene is terrified of a truck filled with logs till date.

1. Escalator of Death (FD4)

This one traumatised me from escalators for a lifetime.

After a premonition fails to prevent disaster, a girl gets sucked under an escalator—under it. Her body is chewed apart by metal gears, blood spraying like a Tarantino. It’s gratuitous, stomach-turning and the exact kind of “screw subtlety” energy this franchise thrives on.

Whether it’s eye trauma, poolside horror, or freeway carnage, Final Destination has always made one thing clear: Death doesn’t discriminate, but it sure gets creative. As we gear up for the supposed “final” chapter, you can bet it’ll be looking to top all of the above. And if the franchise has taught us anything, it’s this—seatbelts won’t save you. But hey, they might keep your guts in place a few seconds longer.

Mexican Influencer Valeria Márquez, Shot Dead on TikTok Live

While live streaming on the TikTok app, Valeria Márquez, a 23-year-old Mexican social media influencer, was killed. Valeria gained popularity by sharing her beauty and makeup tutorials. Her beauty salon in Zapopan, Jalisco, was the scene of the assault. The Jalisco state prosecutor confirmed they are handling the case as femicide.

Femicide in Mexico describes the killing of a woman for motives grounded in her gender. It can be sexual abuse, humiliating violence, affiliation with the killer, or public display of the victim’s body.

Márquez was live on TikTok on Tuesday. She was sitting at a table, a stuffed animal wrapped in her arms. When the shooting was just about to happen, she uttered, “They’re coming.” A voice was heard shouting in the background, “Hey, Vale? She answered, “Yes,” and ended the live streaming. Later on, somebody went inside the salon and shot her. The video displayed a hand reaching for her phone, and their face was briefly visible before the video stopped.

Earlier in the same live stream, Márquez had discussed a peculiar visit. She explained how someone appeared at the salon when she was not there. This individual attempted to leave an “expensive gift” for her. She sounded concerned and explained how she would not wait for them to return.

Valeria Márquez had approximately 200,000 followers on TikTok and Instagram. She gained fame due to her beauty blogs and positive online personality.

The prosecutor’s office still lacks a suspect. Investigators are working to find the motive and are examining the evidence.

Femicide is a grave issue in Mexico. Mexico ranks together with Paraguay, Uruguay, and Bolivia as the fourth-highest femicide rate in Latin America and the Caribbean. The femicide rate stood at 1.3 per 100,000 women in 2023, reports the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Jalisco ranks among the states with the highest homicide rates. Since President Claudia Sheinbaum took office in October 2024, killers have taken the lives of 906 people, according to data from consultancy TResearch.

Donald Trump’s UAE Visit Triggers Backlash Over the ‘Hair Flipping’ Dance

Donald Trump's UAE Visit Triggers Backlash Over Cultural Dance
Donald Trump's UAE Visit Triggers Backlash Over Cultural Dance (1)

Donald Trump has just returned from a visit to the United Arab Emirates. His reception in Abu Dhabi drew major attention—not just for its celebratory character, but for how people responded to it. During the ceremony, little girls in traditional dress waved their hair back and forth. This act was part of a cultural performance to welcome him. However, it drew strong criticism online, especially from many Muslims.

The dance is related to Al-Ayyala, a traditional Gulf Arab heritage dance. People usually perform it during national events or to honour respected guests. However, this performance raised concern and discomfort.

A post shared by Mashriq Digital (@mashriqtv.pk)

Islam places a clear focus on modesty, especially in public displays involving women or girls. One major concern among the people was the exposure of hair. In Islamic teachings, a woman’s hair is part of her awrah and must not be shown to non-mahram men, let alone flipped to please one. For many Muslims, watching young girls perform uncovered in front of a male foreign guest felt inappropriate. Some compared it to pre-Islamic tribal customs, during the era of ignorance, not a reflection of Islamic values.

One reaction summed it up well: “This wasn’t just about a dance. It was about image, values, and what’s being prioritised in the name of hospitality.”

While the President of the United States may have ‘loved’ the welcome, it leaves many Muslims around the world questioning: Are we returning to an era of ignorance from which we were once delivered? Has success, wealth, and luxury had no positive effect on us? Have we, as Muslims, reached a point where we are willing to compromise our values just to appease our Western counterparts?

So, what’s next?

Adjusted EBITDA was $65.4 million, maintaining a 27% margin, reflecting the company’s continued focus on disciplined execution and profitability.

Operationally, Payoneer saw a 7% year-over-year increase in volume to $19.7 billion and a 5% growth in active Ideal Customer Profiles to 556,000. The revenue as a percentage of volume (“Take Rate”) was 125 basis points, with the SMB customer take rate reaching 119 basis points, up 11 basis points year-over-year.

The company’s business highlights for the quarter included 18% year-over-year growth in SMB customer revenue to $170 million. This was driven by 8% growth in marketplace SMB revenue, 37% growth in B2B SMB revenue, and a 96% increase in Merchant Services (Checkout) revenue. Payoneer card spend reached $1.4 billion, up 29% year-over-year, with increased usage across all regions. John Caplan, Chief Executive Officer of Payoneer, commented, “Payoneer delivered another solid quarter, driven by strong ARPU growth, increasing adoption of our high-value products, focus on quality customers, and continued profitability. We also extended our regulatory advantage, becoming the third foreign company licensed as a payment service provider in China. This reflects our long-term commitment to complex, high-potential markets. Global trade is rapidly evolving. Payoneer’s customers are adapting, and we are right there with them. Approximately 40% of our revenue comes from helping customers sell into non-US market

ts. As supply chains shift and global workforces expand, we’re positioning ourselves to capture the upside. We’re executing our strategy with discipline. We are balancing growth and profitability while strengthening our long-term moat by investing in our payments infrastructure and differentiated capabilities. Our strategy is simple: build the financial stack for the next generation of borderless SMBs and be their long-term partner as they grow and expand globally.”

During the quarter, Payoneer completed the acquisition of Easylink Payment Co., Ltd., a licensed China-based payment service provider, further strengthening its global regulatory infrastructure and positioning the company to better serve customers in China as they export globally.

Given the current macroeconomic uncertainty, Payoneer is suspending its previously issued full-year 2025 guidance. Bea Ordonez, Chief Financial Officer, stated, “Payoneer delivered 16% growth in revenue excluding interest income and continued strong profitability in the first quarter. We continue to execute against our long-term vision and strategic roadmap. We remain confident in our long-term thesis – serving the complex needs of global SMBs and entrepreneurs by providing a comprehensive and differentiated financial stack that enables them to achieve their cross-border ambitions.

Given the rapidly evolving and uncertain global macro and trade environment, at this time, we are suspending our previously issued full year 2025 guidance. There are a broad range of potential outcomes and as a company supporting cross-border businesses that may be negatively impacted, we face substantial risks which could impact our financial results. Our business and the customers we serve are diverse and our focus during this time is squarely on supporting our customers as they navigate the dynamic environment. Some customers may benefit from potential shifts in global trade and supply chains and we are focused on ensuring we and our customers are well positioned to capture potential new opportunities.”

Imran Khan Agrees to PM Shehbaz’s Invitation for Dialogue

Imran Khan Agrees to PM Shehbaz’s Invitation for Dialogue (1)

Jailed former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan has agreed to begin talks with the ruling coalition, led by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Shehbaz had recently invited PTI to join a national dialogue, and Khan has now accepted the invitation.

On Monday, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan visited Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi and delivered the prime minister’s message. According to The News (Thursday), Imran Khan authorised Gohar to represent the party in the upcoming negotiations.

Khan stressed that talks must be held privately, away from media coverage. He believes private discussions will be more productive and lead to better outcomes. PTI will now formally approach the government to continue the process. They said previous talks failed because of excessive media attention. This time, PTI wants a quieter and more focused strategy.

Party insiders also said Khan wants the talks to have support from the military establishment. One source claimed Khan is even open to meeting a representative from the establishment to speed up progress.

Barrister Gohar confirmed he passed on PM Shehbaz’s offer to Khan. However, he refused to share what they discussed or Khan’s full response. “I cannot reveal what was said between us,” Gohar said.

This development followed PM Shehbaz Sharif’s speech in the National Assembly, where he invited PTI to join a national dialogue. Gohar had welcomed the offer at that time. Still, PTI made it clear that nothing would move forward without Imran Khan’s direct approval.

Hania Aamir Gifts Yashma Gill a Cat after Jojo’s Death as a Farewell Tribute

Hania Aamir Gifts Yashma Gill a Cat after Jojo’s Death as a Farewell Tribute
Hania Aamir Gifts Yashma Gill a Cat after Jojo’s Death as a Farewell Tribute

Losing a pet is one of the greatest losses one can face, and for actress Yashma Gill, the agony was fresh and unacceptable when her cute cat Jojo died. But amid that sorrow, her bestie, the ever-effervescent Hania Aamir, intervened to remind us—and her—all about the power of love not lost.

The Deep Bond Between Yashma Gill and Jojo

Jojo was more than a cat; he was Yashma’s emotional support. A soft, fuzzy friend who had crept into her life as her comfort in the highs and lows of life. Be it a bad day or a lonely night, Jojo’s soothing purrs and sympathetic eyes always knew how to bring serenity to her turmoil.

Yashma posted the sad news on Instagram, and her followers ached with her. Her tearful words moved hearts around the globe:

“Yesterday, I had to say goodbye to my child.. my Jojo. My heart is shattered, and the silence without you is unbearable. You were more than just a cat.. You were my companion, my comfort, my little piece of joy and literally the beat to my heart…”

Yashma Gill’s Emotional Tribute to Jojo

Her entire tribute went viral. Fans in the thousands flocked to shower love with prayers, condolences, and personal memories. But more than anything else, it was the personal significance of what she wrote that made many cry.

She concluded her note with:

“I’ll carry your love with me forever. Rest well, my precious Jojo. You’ll never be forgotten.”

Enter Hania Aamir – The Best Friend We All Deserve

When words are not enough, actions speak. Hania Aamir, realising how devastated Yashma was, made up her mind to give her something truly special: a new cat, but not just any cat, it was a goodbye tribute to Jojo.

A New Companion: Ashweria

That’s Ashweria, yes, we understand it’s a male cat, but as Yashma teasingly explained:

“I know it’s a male cat—but I’m sure you all get the backstory ????”

The instant Ashweria entered Yashma’s house, something shifted. It wasn’t replacing Jojo, it was respecting him.

Yashma wrote: “I will love you forever, and already your sweet little eyes have carved out a big place in my heart and life… Thank you once again, @haniaheheofficial, for saving my heart when it was breaking.”

The Power of Meaningful Friendships

When individuals discuss friendship goals, this is it. Hania didn’t arrive bearing flowers or sending a condolence message, she arrived bearing understanding. With empathy. With a living, breathing reminder that healing exists.

Pet Loss and the Healing Journey

Losing a pet leaves an open wound. But opening your heart to another doesn’t equate to forgetting the one you lost. It means you’re carrying on the legacy of love. Pets show us how to love unconditionally, and when they pass, they leave behind pawprints that never disappear.

Hania’s present to Yashma wasn’t merely a cat, it was the gift of knowledge that love doesn’t die. It changes, it consoles, and sometimes, it arrives on little paws and a great name like Ashweria.

What did India and Pakistan Gain or Lose from their Military Standoff?

What Did India and Pakistan Really Gain or Lose from their Military Standoff?
What Did India and Pakistan Really Gain or Lose from their Military Standoff?

Just recently, India and Pakistan locked horns, and we all know how that went down. However, New Delhi and Islamabad have provided contrasting accounts of the four-day conflict. Both claimed to have achieved complete victory and few losses. However, any sane person will know that can’t be true.

Background on the Pahalgam Attack and the Military Standoff

India and Pakistan have always been rivals, but why did matters get so worse suddenly? Well, for that, we will have to rewind to April 22 2025, the Pahalgam Attack in Indian illegally Occupied Kashmir (IIOK).

The conflict erupted after gunmen killed 26 civilians in Pahalgam, in India’s illegally administered Kashmir, on April 22. According to some sources, an armed group by the name of The Resistance Front (TRF) or Lashkar-e-Taiba claimed responsibility. This, in turn, led to India accusing Pakistan of backing it (with no proof to back up the claim).

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised retaliation on Pakistan despite it claiming to have no association with the attacks and also urging for an impartial investigation. Pakistan also gave the example of how it never held India accountable for its “Jaffar Express” hijack due to a lack of evidence, but that was put under the rug as always. The Pakistani military forces also claimed India’s credibility and urgency to blame Pakistan by stating that the country pointed fingers at its neighbour within mere 10 minutes.

Background On The Pahalgam Attack And The Military Standoff Afterwards
Background On The Pahalgam Attack And The Military Standoff Afterwards

Pakistan Struck By India

India nonetheless refused to reason and attacked Pakistan.

Early on the morning of May 7, India fired missiles at what it described as “terrorist” bases not just in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, but also four sites in Pakistan’s Punjab province.

All these “terrorist bases” were in reality civilian sites, i.e. mosques and homes. The attack took the lives of multiple innocents (women and kids included). Then, in retaliation, Pakistan defended its international borders, which later on ended up becoming a full-blown military face-off. As the world braced for total war between the nuclear-armed neighbours, US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire, which he claimed had been mediated by the United States.

Now, both countries are claiming victory over the other, presenting “evidence” of their “achievements.” However, analysts say neither side can truly claim to have emerged from the post-April 22 crisis with a definite upper hand. Instead, they say, both India and Pakistan can claim strategic gains even as they each also suffered losses.

Pakistan’s Strategic Gains

In a scenario where many expected Pakistan to fold under pressure from its 7 times larger, more heavily armed adversary, Pakistan did the exact opposite. The country held its ground, responded proportionately and played its cards with shrewd calculation.

1. Internationalisation of the Kashmir Issue

After the 1971 war between India and Pakistan, both nations inked the Simla Agreement, which committed them to settling “their differences by peaceful means through bilateral negotiations.” Since then, India has argued that the Kashmir dispute can only be settled bilaterally, without third-party intervention. Pakistan, on the other hand, wished for international help for decades.

The post-war situation and Trump stepping in has resulted in Kashmir finally getting the international recognition that Pakistan wanted. On Sunday, Trump said that the US was ready to help mediate a resolution to the Kashmir dispute. “I will work with you both to see if, after a thousand years, a solution can be arrived at, concerning Kashmir,” the US president posted on his Truth Social platform.

This shift challenges India’s long-standing narrative of Kashmir being a strictly internal matter and can possibly be a new hope for the Kashmiris on either side of the border.

2. Demonstrated Military Resilience

Despite facing a technologically superior adversary, Pakistan’s military showcased resilience. The downing of multiple Indian aircraft, including advanced Rafael jets, and the effective use of Chinese-supplied JF-17 fighters and HQ-series air defence systems, highlighted Pakistan’s evolving defence capabilities on the global stage.

This resulted in being beneficial for not only Pakistan but it’s allies too. Since the military hardware was from China, its capabilities were showcased for the first time in warfare, greatly benefiting the stocks.

3. Strengthening Diplomatic Ties

The conflict reinforced Pakistan’s strategic alliances, particularly with China. The deployment of Chinese military technology not only enhanced Pakistan’s defence but also signalled Beijing’s vested interest in the region’s stability.

India’s Tactical Achievements and Strategic Challenges

  1. Operation Sindoor’s Immediate Impact: India’s Operation Sindoor targeted alleged militant infrastructure within Pakistan, claiming significant damage to civilian areas.
  2. Questionable Long-Term Gains: While the operation showcased India’s military prowess, it also exposed vulnerabilities. The reliance on foreign technology and the subsequent downing of advanced aircraft raised concerns about the robustness of India’s defence systems.
  3. Diplomatic Setbacks: India’s initial resistance to international mediation was overshadowed by the U.S.’s active role in brokering the ceasefire. This development inadvertently internationalised the Kashmir issue, countering India’s efforts to keep it bilateral.

Losses and the Path Forward

The conflict resulted in significant civilian casualties and economic disruptions for both nations. Pakistan’s economy, already under strain, faced further challenges, while India’s aspirations for regional dominance were questioned. The standoff underscored the perils of military confrontation and the pressing need for sustained diplomatic engagement.

India may have hoped for a conclusive blow to Pakistan’s strategic posture, but it underestimated the country’s resilience and adaptability. Pakistan didn’t just survive the standoff, the the  but it also repositioned itself as a confident and capable regional actor. The world took notice, and so did India.

For once, it seems that the smaller power in South Asia has left the table with the bigger hand.
