Meta Platforms (META) leads the pack after the shopping holiday bonanza from Thanksgiving Day to Cyber Monday. Online expenditure rose 7.3 per cent annually to $13.3 billion on Cyber Monday as total holiday spending for Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday reached an annual $41.1 billion according to analysts. These analysts are highly confident that Meta will stay afloat in digital advertising revenue generation in the future.
Biggest Gainer
The holiday shopping spree has ensured that consumer spending is not too weak, with digital ads significantly benefiting from the same. Retailers, an important category in which both Meta and Google have their advertisements, were likely to boost the ad estimates for the fourth quarter of the year. Meta’s ad spend increased by 20% year-over-year, further confirming the dominance of Meta in the space of digital advertising.
Source: Yahoo
This momentum sent Meta’s stock to an all-time high of $617.78 during early trading on Wednesday before settling at $613.78. The company’s year-to-date gains have risen to 73%, following a 194% rise in 2023.
AI and Nuclear Energy
Meta’s ambitions are more than just advertising as the company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg makes significant investments in artificial intelligence. The company is also looking into nuclear energy in its sustainability and energy reliability initiatives.
Meta, on Tuesday, announced it will partner with nuclear energy developers to produce1-4 gigawatts of nuclear power by the early 2030s. The initiative will support energy demands from its AI-driven data centers and surrounding communities.
Sources: Investors Business
This will make Meta, like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, take advantage of nuclear energy to continue growing its computational and data requirements. “Nuclear energy can help provide firm, baseload power to support the growth of electric grids,” Meta said in a blog post, committing the company to a long-term focus on sustainable energy solutions.
Stock Market Leadership
Meta has continued to strengthen its position as a leader in internet content. It holds an IBD Composite Rating of 98, near perfect, better than all of its peers in a group of 69.
Resilience shines through; the stock rebounded strongly from its November slide after political tensions set in. The shares improved after Mark Zuckerberg made contact.
With its capacity to take advantage of holiday spending, combined with bold strides into AI and nuclear energy, Meta has solidified its position as the transformative force in tech and advertising. The company looks well set to continue to ride this trajectory, coupled with strong stock performance and innovative forward-thinking initiatives.

Talented on-screen actor Usman Mukhtar has recently taken a significant lead in the most-anticipated drama Jafaa as Numair. As a doting and responsible husband, it turned out to be a complete green flag for fans when Numair was there initially. He seemed to get just the right balance between being supportive and caring for his wife. This made him a fan favourite.
However, at the end of November, a sudden character change in Numair left many fans shocked and emotional. His transformation with infertility struggle took many aback, making it hard for viewers to accept the shift in the role.
Watch here:
Usman Mukhtar Explains Numair’s Character Shift
Usman Mukhtar explained the dramatic shift in his character during a virtual interview. He described Numair as a “grey character” and explained how the direction of the script shocked him.
According to Usman, when he read the script, he had already imagined how this shift would impact the audience. In the show, Numair faces infertility, which is in contrast with his earlier stance of not wanting to marry.
He further added that in episode five, when Numair writes a letter to his mother detailing his distress, it goes unread. In this respect, Usman says this depicts the closed nature of communication in Pakistan, especially issues relating to reproductive health.
The Importance of Open Discussions on Sensitive Topics
Usman further explained how Jafaa throws light on the discomfort that the people of Pakistan have while discussing sensitive issues like reproductive health. He stated that in families, people are not ready to take these issues seriously and always brush them off or even joke about them.
“There is no concept of sex education in Pakistan,” Usman emphasized while calling for people to talk about their problems freely.
He believes that by airing such discussions, couples can avoid mental stress and problems that arise due to a lack of solutions, thereby creating healthier relationships.

The French government has collapsed after Prime Minister Michel Barnier was removed in a no-confidence vote. This came just three months after President Emmanuel Macron appointed him. The motion was supported by a large majority of MPs, following controversy over Barnier using special powers to push through his budget without a vote.
A Historic Vote
This is the first time since 1962 that the French government has collapsed due to a no-confidence vote. The collapse adds to France’s ongoing political instability, especially after snap elections in the summer resulting in no political group having a majority in parliament. MPs were required to either vote yes or abstain in the vote. 331 voted to remove Barnier, way above the 288 votes needed.
As a result of the vote, Barnier must now present his government’s resignation. The budget that caused his downfall is no longer valid.
Opposition to Barnier’s Reforms
Both left-wing and far-right opposition parties had pushed for Barnier’s removal after he used a presidential decree to implement controversial social security reforms. The left-wing alliance, New Popular Front (NFP), which won the most seats in the parliamentary elections, had previously criticized Macron’s decision to appoint Barnier as prime minister instead of their own candidate. Along with the far-right National Rally (RN), they rejected Barnier’s budget, which aimed to reduce the deficit by €60bn (£49bn). RN leader Marine Le Pen called the budget “toxic for the French.”
Ahead of the vote, Barnier told the National Assembly that removing him from office would not solve the country’s financial issues. “We have reached a moment of truth, of responsibility,” he said. “We need to look at the realities of our debt,” he added, “It is not a pleasure that I propose difficult measures.”
French Government Collapses After a No-Confidence Vote. Source; The Washington Post
However, in an interview with TF1 on Wednesday, Le Pen said that removing Barnier was the “only solution.” She also addressed the situation surrounding President Macron. “I am not asking for the resignation of Emmanuel Macron,” she stated. However, she also warned, “If we do not respect the voice of voters and show respect for political forces and respect for elections,” then “pressure on the president will obviously be stronger and stronger.”
While Barnier is set to remain as caretaker prime minister for now, the situation adds further pressure on President Macron’s administration.

Mercedes-Benz presented Pope Francis with a completely electric Popemobile on Wednesday. Based on the Mercedes G-Class model, the specially designed car has an elevated seat beneath a glass canopy so the pope can welcome guests. The Popemobile, is painted pearl white and has an electric motor that is specifically made for slow papal processions. Ola Kallenius, the CEO of Mercedes-Benz and project engineers unveiled the car in the Vatican, calling the production “a special honour for our company.”
This vehicle continues a 45-year tradition of Mercedes-Benz supplying Popemobiles to the Vatican. It reflects Pope Francis’ environmental advocacy, particularly highlighted in his 2015 encyclical Laudato Si, where he urged global climate action. The pontiff reiterated these concerns in 2023, expressing disappointment in slow progress.

After three years of waiting, Netflix’s Arcane is back with a second season that surpasses expectations. The nine-episode arc picks up immediately after Jinx’s explosive attack on the Piltover Council, catapulting viewers into a world teetering on the brink of war. Themes of power, betrayal, and redemption intertwine to create a story that is as emotionally gripping as it is visually breathtaking.
A War of Worlds and Hearts
The delicate balance between Piltover and Zaun has broken, sending the two cities into chaos. The season isn’t just about the looming war but rather it narrows down to the personal struggles that drive its characters. The heart of the show continues to be the tension-ridden relationship of Jinx and Vi. The heartbreaking confrontation of Episode 6 stands testament to the emotional depth that Arcane delivers with consistency.
Source: CBN
The season doesn’t shy away from moral ambiguity, with each character facing impossible choices. Vi’s uneasy alliance with the Enforcers and Caitlyn’s transformation into a hardened enforcer show how circumstances shape ideals. Meanwhile, Viktor’s experiments with Hextech reveal the double-edged nature of progress, blurring the lines between heroism and villainy.
Animation at Its Zenith
In fact, Fortiche Productions goes so further along. The fluidity between water-coloured aesthetics and state-of-art computer-generated imagery brings forth that lively world. Visual showmanship is displayed in the erratic scribbles of broken mentality associated with Jinx, together with how the Hextech shots serve to reframe animation narratives within science fiction.
Source: CBR
The art direction, not just amplifying the story but constituting it in itself, draws from grimy neon streets to the Grandiose towers in Piltover. It shows each detail, immersing viewers into a tale that is visually and narratively complex.
It’s an appropriate payoff, felt deeply earned in its intricate construction of season threads. The grand scope and intimate fight of Piltover and Zaun feels emotionally weighted, despite its occasionally rushed pace, which’s richly told so far and is riddled with so much to say.
Arcane Season 2 is something so masterfully animated and also a great story, positioning the show as one of the very best animated series ever done in time. With its nuanced characters and groundbreaking visuals, it cements that animation can compare well with live-action in depth and complexity. From being a gamer to even just a lover of some great stories, Arcane should not be missed.

For the first time, the price of Bitcoin reached $100,000 on Wednesday. Since November 5, the price of Bitcoin has gone up by more than 45%, and it has more than doubled in value this year.
“We’re witnessing a paradigm shift,” said Mike Novogratz, founder and CEO of US crypto firm Galaxy Digital.
The Future of Bitcoin and Regulations
In light of the US election, Bitcoin enthusiasts are hopeful that a new, more crypto-friendly attitude will take shape in Washington. They hope this will end strict regulations and enforcement against cryptocurrencies, allowing traditional financial institutions to invest in bitcoin and making Bitcoin mining more profitable.
Even though he was initially sceptical about it, Trump has shown interest in creating a U.S. bitcoin “strategic reserve,” similar to how the country stores gold and oil. During his third presidential campaign, he attended the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, where he praised the crypto community for its innovation.

Trump embraced Bitcoin during his campaign, promising to make the United States the “crypto capital of the planet” and to accumulate a national stockpile of Bitcoin.

Imagine owning a piece of cricket history so iconic that it tells tales of a bygone era. That’s exactly what one lucky bidder accomplished by purchasing a “baggy green” cap worn by legendary Sir Don Bradman for a jaw-dropping A$479,700 (about $311,000). This isn’t just a cap—it’s a piece of cricketing folklore.
The Story Behind the Cap
This cap isn’t just about its sun-faded fabric or a few insect bites; it’s about the stories it holds. Bradman wore it during India’s first tour of Australia as an independent nation. The 1947-48 series was a spectacle, and Bradman was its star performer.
The legend amassed 715 runs across six innings during the five-Test series, averaging an almost unimaginable 178.75. Oh, and did I mention he also became the first Australian to score 100 first-class centuries during that tour? The guy was simply unstoppable.
Bradman didn’t just wear the cap; he made history with it. After the series, he handed it to India’s team manager, Pankaj “Peter” Gupta. Gupta then passed it on to wicketkeeper PK Sen. That journey alone makes the cap priceless.
Auction Fever: Setting Records Again
The iconic cap, which had been on display at the Bradman Museum in Bowral since 2010, was recently put up for auction. Estimated to sell for A$300,000 to A$400,000, it smashed expectations, going under the hammer for A$479,700.
What’s more impressive? It’s not even the most expensive Don Bradman memorabilia. His first Test cap from 1928 sold for A$450,000 in 2020. And if you’re wondering about the highest-priced cap, Shane Warne’s baggy green tops the chart, fetching over A$1 million in 2020 to aid bushfire relief efforts.
Don Bradman’s stats read like a cricket fan’s dream. In 52 Tests, he averaged an unthinkable 99.94—nearly 40 runs higher than anyone else with a minimum of 20 innings. But beyond the numbers, Bradman is revered for his role as a leader and a symbol of hope during challenging times in Australia.
The cap sold this week isn’t just a collector’s item; it’s a reminder of a golden era in cricket. It’s a connection to a man who redefined the game and set benchmarks that still feel untouchable.

The legendary Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has shared his bold opinion about India’s star batter Virat Kohli and the ongoing controversy surrounding the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. According to Akhtar, Kohli is “dying” to play in Pakistan, and so is the Indian cricket team.
Kohli and India’s Desire to Play in Pakistan?
Speaking on a local news channel, Shoaib Akhtar made a striking claim. He believes that the BCCI, along with Kohli, is eager for India to tour Pakistan. However, the Indian government’s reluctance is the real roadblock.
“India is dying more than Pakistan to play in Pakistan,” said Akhtar. “Virat Kohli is probably dying to play in Pakistan. Landing an India vs. Pakistan match will send TV rights soaring. The reason sponsorship isn’t coming is because India isn’t coming to Pakistan, and their government isn’t letting them.”
Akhtar’s statement comes at a time when cricket fans are yearning for more India-Pakistan matches, especially in bilateral series.
The Champions Trophy Dilemma
The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy is slated to be held in Pakistan in February-March 2025. However, the tournament’s fate hangs by a thread as the BCCI has refused to send its team to Pakistan.
On the other hand, the PCB has stood firm against a hybrid model that splits matches across neutral venues. In a surprising twist, a new “partnership formula” is being considered to resolve the deadlock.
Under this model, Pakistan wouldn’t play their ICC event matches in India for the next three years. Instead, Dubai is being floated as a neutral venue for both teams.
A Glimmer of Hope?
Despite the current standoff, Akhtar is optimistic about the future. He boldly predicted that India will play a full-fledged series in Pakistan within the next couple of years.
“BCCI and Jay Shah want it. Backdoor diplomacy is ongoing, but our relationship isn’t there yet. Once it’s resolved, they will come. I predict that within a year or two, India will play a full series in Pakistan,” he said.
If the “partnership formula” goes through, Pakistan and India could play their ICC matches at neutral venues like Dubai. This compromise might ensure the Champions Trophy takes place as planned, while also setting a precedent for future tournaments.

Famous Portuguese footballer Christiano Ronaldo may be considering converting to Islam. This speculation was raised in a recent interview with Abdullah, a former football player who worked with Ronaldo at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. Abdullah shared that Ronaldo has shown strong respect for Islamic customs and traditions since arriving in Saudi Arabia.
“Ronaldo genuinely wants to convert to Islam. I spoke to him about it, and he expressed interest,” Abdullah stated.
Ronaldo’s Interest in Islam
Abdullah revealed that Ronaldo has expressed interest in converting to Islam. He mentioned a particular moment when Ronaldo prostrated (sujood) after scoring a goal. Moved by his act, his teammates celebrated by chanting “Allahu Akbar” (God is Great). Abdullah also pointed out that Ronaldo has encouraged his teammates on a few occasions to follow their religious practices. This included pausing training when the call to prayer sounds.
Is Christiano Ronaldo thinking about converting to Islam?
“When the call to prayer sounds during training, Ronaldo asks the coach to stop until it finishes,” he said, adding that this sensitivity shows the football star’s growing understanding of Islamic customs.
Ronaldo’s interest in Islam is not something new. Abdullah explained that Ronaldo has been influenced by former teammates, particularly Mesut Özil and Karim Benzema, both devout Muslims. Their discussions about faith seem to have had a lasting impact on Ronaldo, sparking his curiosity and appreciation of Islam.
Furthermore, when Ronaldo first arrived in Saudi Arabia, he was unfamiliar with many of the local customs and culture. Abdullah shared that Ronaldo often asked him questions, eager to learn and understand more. Despite being one of the world’s biggest stars, the star footballer’s humility and eagerness to adapt to the local culture have made him even more admired by his teammates and the local community.
No Official Confirmation Yet
However, Ronaldo himself has not made any official statement regarding his beliefs. Nevertheless, his actions, like participating in prayers and encouraging his teammates to do the same, have earned him respect from his Muslim fans all over the world.
While Cristiano Ronaldo has not officially confirmed if he has converted to Islam or not, his growing respect for Islamic practices and his efforts to embrace local customs in Saudi Arabia have sparked admiration.

The future of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is hanging in the balance, and all eyes are now on the ICC Board meeting scheduled for Thursday in Dubai.
This pivotal gathering could decide the fate of the tournament, particularly its much-debated venue, Pakistan. With tensions running high between cricket’s biggest rivals, India and Pakistan, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has landed in Dubai to attend the meeting. While the official agenda reportedly doesn’t include India’s refusal to tour Pakistan, this unspoken issue continues to cast a shadow over proceedings.
India, it seems, has remained cold toward the “fusion formula” floated by Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. Jay Shah, the new ICC chairman, has called this meeting an “introductory session,” but insiders suggest it’s anything but. The meeting is expected to finalize several critical arrangements for the marquee tournament.
Champions Trophy Promotions Kick-Off
Even as the boardroom drama unfolds, the ICC has wasted no time preparing for the Champions Trophy. A promotional campaign featuring top players from around the world kicked off in Dubai on Wednesday. Pakistan’s ace pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi, was in the spotlight, representing his country in the advertisements.
Additionally, a broadcaster’s workshop is set to be held on Thursday, hinting that the ICC is moving ahead with planning, even amid unresolved disputes.
India-Pakistan Standoff
The elephant in the room is India’s firm stance on not travelling to Pakistan. Despite multiple diplomatic attempts to address this, including Pakistan’s proposed partnership for the event, India seems unyielding. Could this refusal jeopardize the entire tournament?
While Jay Shah has chosen not to include this contentious topic in the meeting’s agenda, it’s hard to imagine board members ignoring it altogether. After all, the Champions Trophy is one of ICC’s flagship events, and a cloud of uncertainty over its venue is the last thing the governing body needs.

Pakistan will experience an exceptionally early start of harsh winter conditions next week due to a unique and powerful cold wave, according to international weather forecasts. The country, including Karachi, is predicted to be affected by the powerful cold air mass from Central Asia which will bring temperatures normally experienced in late December or early January. La Niña, which is known for harsher winters has begun to exert its influence.
What makes it unique is the timing of the occurrence. These intense cold waves typically happen in late winter rather than early December. In fact, December was expected to be just as warm as November by many people. But this month seems to be giving Karachiites the much awaited cold sooner than later

K-Electric (KE) has restored power supply to Pakistan Railways after earlier suspending it over unpaid dues of Rs430 million. The electricity provider, frustrated with “multiple reminders and assurances” that were not honoured, stressed that continued supply was “unsustainable without the payments.” The court lifted the stay order on the issue, urging both parties to find a resolution. Negotiations are now underway with senior officials from both KE and Railways present.
The power suspension disrupted key Railways operations, including online ticket booking and 38 passenger trains departing daily from Karachi. Pakistan Railways’ divisional superintendent Nasir Khalili revealed that the division generates Rs50–60 million in daily revenue and claimed KE owes Railways Rs70 billion in decade-old dues.

A small asteroid lit up the skies over Yakutia, Russia, in a dazzling celestial event on December 4, 2024. The 70-centimetre-wide asteroid entered Earth’s atmosphere at 1:15 AM local time, creating a spectacular fireball visible for hundreds of kilometres. Residents of the Lensk and Olekminsk districts in the Sakha Republic witnessed a comet-like tail and a bright flash, with no reported damage.
A Predictable Encounter
The European Space Agency (ESA) detected the asteroid—named C0WEPC5—12 hours before it entered the fiery descent. Scientists were able to predict its impact-time with remarkable accuracy, within a 10-second margin. ESA credited global astronomer networks and advanced alert systems for this precision.
Source: Times
Astrophysicist Alan Fitzsimmons described an asteroid found at Queen’s University Belfast as “small but spectacular.” Its measurement was insignificant by cosmic standards, but its fiery end on an atmospheric pass made it famous.
Yakutia Light Show
The asteroid burned up as it streaked through the atmosphere, sparking awe among local residents. “It looked like a comet with a flash,” the Sakha Republic’s emergencies ministry said. Eyewitnesses took to social media to share videos of the event from different angles. These clips, which include security camera footage and handheld recordings, quickly spread like wildfire on X (formerly Twitter).
Fortunately, the asteroid disintegrated before hitting the ground leaving no physical damage behind it. Officials had alerted the local authorities, but incidentally, it remained a harmless spectacle. Social media witnessed commentary and video posts flooding the site as users relished the view. “In case this week wasn’t eventful enough, here’s a meteor landing in Yakutia!” quipped one.
The little asteroid will cause no real threat, but its surprise emergence reminds us of the constant change in space. More advanced detection systems like ESA’s are thus very essential in tracking the potential dangers for the sake of both public alertness and security.
Yakutia’s fire show in the sky mesmerized both locals and space enthusiasts with a fleeting yet brilliant look into the vast universe. Such events emphasize how dynamic our solar system is and why it is imperative to keep tabs on the stars.

A man from Pontypridd, Wales, made an astonishing discovery, found his long-lost Nokia 3310, a phone he had misplaced 22 years ago. The iconic mobile, known for its durability and legendary battery life, still had 1 bar of battery left when he switched it on!
The Nokia 3310, released in 2000, became a cultural icon thanks to its unbreakable design, simplicity, and the classic game “Snake.” This particular device had been a prized possession of the man in his youth before it went missing during a family move.
To his amazement, not only did the phone power on, but it also retained some old text messages and phone numbers, bringing a wave of nostalgia. “I couldn’t believe it. Seeing the phone light up after all these years felt like stepping into a time machine!” he said.
Delays in payments have been a long-standing issue in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, affecting actors and the crew likewise. To bring this persistent issue out in the open, the actors Ramsha Khan and Khushhal Khan, in an interview with Haroon Rashid on BBC Asian Network, spoke candidly about it. This was part of the promotional campaign for their high-budget drama Duniyapur.
Addressing a Widespread Issue
When asked about the challenges of working on large-scale productions, both actors emphasised the importance of timely payments. Khushhal described payment delays as disrespectful, stating, “It’s disrespectful not to pay on time because we’re there on time.”He added that the practice forces actors to compromise their self-respect.
Ramsha echoed these concerns, saying that delayed payments affect financial stability. “I have to pay my bills,” she said, sharing her approach of refusing to work on set unless her dues are cleared.
Lack of Industry Solidarity
A discussion also arose on the issue of uncoordinated actors on a single issue. “If Khushhal and I take a stand, three other actors will let it go. There’s no unity,” Ramsha argued. Khushhal highlighted that there would be collective action if the industry began to practice professionalism. “We give 110% every single day. The least we expect is to be paid on time,”he added.
Both actors called on the show business industry to treat prompt payments as a minimum standard of professional practice rather than an afterthought. They sounded hopeful that positive change might come through teamwork.
By speaking out, Ramsha and Khushhal brought to light an issue that remains a constant thorn in professionalism and consideration in show business. Their voices are part of the larger call for fairness and accountability in the industry.
