Ahmed Shehzad Slams PCB: Was Dropping Sajid Khan The Right Call?

ahmed-shehzad-slams-pcb-dropping-sajid-khan

The Pakistan cricket fraternity is no stranger to controversy, and Ahmed Shehzad has added fuel to the fire with his sharp criticism of the PCB’s latest squad decisions. The batter didn’t hold back as he questioned the exclusion of off-spinner Sajid Khan and pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi from the upcoming South Africa tour.

Sajid Khan: A Wicket-Taker Ignored

Let’s talk about Sajid Khan. Just last year, the off-spinner was Pakistan’s hero against England, grabbing an impressive 19 wickets in two Tests. His performance wasn’t just good—it was match-winning. So, naturally, his exclusion from the squad for the South Africa tour has left fans and players scratching their heads.

Ahmed Shehzad didn’t mince his words either. In a fiery video on his YouTube channel, he lashed out at the PCB: “You have dropped Sajid Khan from the South Africa series; are you people blind or out of your minds?”

Read More: Did Pakistan’s Stand-In Skipper Fumble Under Pressure?

Shehzad was right to point out that Sajid has been one of the bright spots in Pakistan cricket’s recent struggles. He didn’t just take wickets—he gave fans something to cheer about during a rough patch. Dropping him now feels not just puzzling but downright disrespectful to his contributions.

Shaheen Afridi: Workload Management or?

Then there’s Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan’s premier fast bowler and a crowd favorite. The PCB cited “workload management” as the reason for resting him from the Tests. But Shehzad isn’t buying it.

“So, you’ve dropped Shaheen and brought in your own group. What did you achieve by dropping Shaheen? Managing workload, right? You’re just fooling the public,” Shehzad said, voicing the frustrations of many fans.

Sure, resting players to prevent burnout is crucial in modern cricket. But was South Africa the right series to rest your star bowler? It’s a high-profile tour where Pakistan will face formidable challenges. Wouldn’t it have been better to have Shaheen leading the attack?
The Bigger Picture

Ahmed Shehzad’s rant isn’t just about two players; it’s about a larger pattern of questionable decisions. Inconsistent selections have plagued Pakistan cricket for years, and fans are getting tired of seeing match-winners dropped without clear explanations.

Crumble Takes a Dig at Blinkit, Again!

Crumble and Blinkit beef

The rivalry between Crumble Pakistan and Blinkit India took another playful turn when the dessert shop posted a reel mocking Blinkit using Spotify Wrapped’s iconic theme. Crumble’s witty caption highlighted that Blinkit “got played multiple times” over the year. Not one to back down, Blinkit retorted with a cricketing reference, alluding to the BCCI’s decision to withhold sending the Indian cricket team to Pakistan: “BCCI jo khel gaya aapke mulk ke saath uska kya?”

Crumble Pakistan, quick on the draw, fired back with a cheeky nod to Pakistan’s iconic 2017 Champions Trophy victory under Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy, where they outclassed India in the final. The exchange not only reignited the cricketing rivalry but also set social media ablaze with laughs and engagement.

Crumble Pakistan: Cookies with a Side of Sass

Crumble is one of the most popular dessert brands in Pakistan, offering fresh-baked cookies such as chocolate chip, peanut butter, and double chocolate. It has a very active online presence with its marketing using humor, relatable moments, and sometimes digs at the competition to keep customers entertained and engaged. Their Instagram battles with Blinkit have become an integral part of their brand identity.

Formerly Grofers, Blinkit is one of India’s top quick-commerce platforms, with grocery and essentials delivery promised within minutes. Wide arrays of products are offered using Blinkit, which banks upon the speed and convenience of getting by the fast pace of Indian urban lives. The voice for their brand is sharp, often responding humorously to customer feedback or competitor rants.

The Champions Trophy Connection

In 2025, the Champions Trophy will take place in Lahore, Pakistan, and cricket enthusiasts are excited again. It’s the golden opportunity for brands like Crumble and Blinkit to connect with both the audiences on either side of the border and blend humor with nostalgia.

Social media banter between brands, though unconventional, actually boosts engagement, crystallises brand personalities, and produces free publicity. In a masterclass of tapping into nuances in the culture and communal rivalries, for Blinkit and Crumble, it has been their Instagram spats ongoing for weeks.

While some point out that such exchanges risk losing customers, their viral appeal often outweighs the con. Brands that get their tone right find that “wars” can create dedicated followers and ensure they stay under the public eye.

Is Pakistan Getting Starlink?

Is Pakistan Getting Starlink?

Elon Musk’s Starlink project has attracted attention worldwide as a high-speed satellite internet option, particularly in areas where access is still problematic. The issue still stands for Pakistan: Will Starlink launch here? Even while the answer isn’t simple, new information suggests that it might arrive soon.

Why Starlink Isn’t Here Yet

The main obstacle to Starlink’s entry into Pakistan has been the licensing process. The business encountered numerous technological and legal challenges even after submitting an application for a licence in February 2022. According to confirmation from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Starlink has not yet met all the conditions needed to conduct business in the nation.

Is Pakistan Getting Starlink?
Is Pakistan Getting Starlink? Source; TechJuice

A major concern is that Starlink’s non-geostationary satellites could interfere with geostationary satellites, a serious problem that has been brought to light by a number of governmental organisations, including the Strategic Plans Division, SUPARCO, and the Frequency Allocation Board. The lack of a license system for non-geostationary satellites in Pakistan further complicated the situation and slowed down progress.

A New Space Policy

When Pakistan issued its National Space Policy in late 2023 and the Pakistan Space Rules in February 2024, the scene started to change. Starlink and other satellite internet providers now have an easier time operating in Pakistan, thanks to these regulatory changes.

Now that this structure is in place, Starlink has started working again to register and meet local regulations. In an effort to get beyond the last obstacles, the business has also applied for a Long-Distance International license.

The Significance of Starlink In Pakistan

For Pakistan’s rural and isolated areas, where traditional web service is either unreliable or absent, Starlink’s satellite internet might be revolutionary. Fast internet could help close the digital gap and boost the nation’s quickly expanding freelance sector.

What’s Ahead for Starlink?

The successful launch of Starlink in Pakistan depends on resolving issues with satellite interference and navigating a challenging regulatory system. Even while there has been development, it is obvious that a deployment is unlikely to happen anytime soon.

The outlook is better than it was a year ago because of the new space policy and the ongoing talks with the government. Nonetheless, technical problems and administrative roadblocks continue to be major obstacles.

As of right now, Starlink’s entry in Pakistan is still pending. The measures thus indicate that the conversation is far from ended, even though the timeframe is undetermined. As work continues behind the scenes, there is reason for optimism among those who believe in its potential.

Spotify Wrapped 2024 is Here – But What Changed?

Spotify Wrapped 2024 is Here - But What Changed

Spotify Wrapped is one recap that everyone waits for. Whether you’re just a regular music listener or a fanatic, Spotify Wrapped explains personalities through music and in an impartial way. What else could we want? It’s the highlight of the year, and it tells us how our year truly went. Was it filled with The Weeknd hits or Atif Aslam classics? Let’s be honest, we all know what it means if you listen to Atif Aslam the most… (you’re a Simp!) As per schedule, Spotify Wrapped for 2024 was released, and as per schedule, it’s on everyone’s socials. So, get on the bandwagon!

Now, even if you don’t have Spotify and you still use YouTube to listen to music, that’s fine, although you are missing out. This year, Spotify-ers, or Spotify listeners, were left slightly disappointed. Let’s break it down and see where Spotify hit the mark. Or didn’t.

Spotify Wrapped 2024 is Here - But What Changed?
Spotify Wrapped 2024 is Here – But What Changed?

The Peak

In 2023, Wrapped offered a satisfying dive into peak listening months, connecting them to the music people were listening to in a specific month. This, in turn, led people to reminisce about the year that just passed. For instance, I listened to Taylor Swift the most in August. Why, you ask? Cruel Summer of course, and Hozier in December, and well, that’s self-explanatory. The same way other people had their peak listening months with the artist they loved, which everyone pondered over. I am pretty sure that in December the most listened-to artist is probably Arijit Singh, shadi season and all.

The 2024 Wrapped, in contrast, seemed to skim over this insight. While it still highlights the day you streamed the most and what song, it removed the ‘Peak Month for Music’ feature. To the public, it was slightly underwhelming, as everyone loves to reflect back on their year. It was less about who you listened to most in, let’s say, July, and more about why, which was left up to the listeners.

The Personalities

This feature is and has been a fan favourite. Last year, Spotify nailed it. The steaming platform assigns you a ‘personality’ that is unique to your music-listening history. This personalised , unbiased and intriguing personality description according to your music type, was such a fun way to end 2023.

However, in 2024 this feature was surprisingly omitted altogether. For many, this personality type represented a way to look inward and outward simultaneously. It was a way to connect with their identity as listeners, and its absence left the Wrapped feeling incomplete.

The City

SoundTown was a fresh and new addition to 2023’s Wrapped, creatively matching users with a city that mirrored their music tastes. Although I live in Karachi, the citizens of Bombay listened to the same music as I did. Crazy, honestly! It was informational, fascinating and really fun to know what other cities were up to.

SoundTown didn’t return this year sadly. While it might not have been the most data-heavy insight, it provided a fun cultural angle that resonated with users.

The 5 Genres

Spotify Wrapped 2023 nailed it with its genre feature, giving fans their “Top 5 Genres” and celebrating diverse music styles like Afrobeats, K-pop, jazz, and classical. It felt personal, exciting, and, frankly, very “you.” Genres were more than just statistics—they connected listeners to their identity.

Fast forward to 2024, and this feature is gone!

The Shortening

Perhaps the most noticeable change in 2024 was the drastic reduction in slides; from 18 in 2023 to just 8 this year. While most fans liked how brief and to the point it was, others missed the detailed Wrapped of 2023.

While Spotify Wrapped 2024 may not have reached the high bar set by the previous years, it still provided a moment for us to reflect on our music journeys and to share on our Instagram IDs. The excitement around Wrapped is always sky-high. This year’s feedback offers Spotify a chance to recapture the magic and add more slides. I mean come on, we wait the entire year for this.

Did Pakistan’s Stand-In Skipper Fumble Under Pressure?

truth-behind-social-media-attack-on-salman-ali-agha-salman-ali-agha-to-lead-pakistan-t20i-squad-against-new-zealand

Cricket, they say, is a game of fine margins. One wrong decision can turn the tide, and unfortunately for Pakistan, it seems like their stand-in captain Salman Ali Agha may have learned this the hard way.

Thursday’s final T20I against Zimbabwe at the Queens Sports Club had all the drama fans love. Pakistan was defending a modest 133, and despite a shaky start, the bowlers clawed back brilliantly in the middle overs. By the end of the 19th, Zimbabwe was reeling at 121/7, needing 12 runs from the last six balls.

Read More: Why Pakistan’s Youngsters Struggle Internationally Compared to India?

Victory felt tantalizingly close. But then came a captaincy call that left fans and former cricketers scratching their heads.

A Gamble That Didn’t Pay Off

Instead of handing the ball to Mohammad Hasnain, one of Pakistan’s more experienced bowlers, Agha chose young all-rounder Jahandad Khan to bowl the final over. On paper, it might have seemed like a bold move—a show of faith in the youngster.

In reality? It backfired.

Jahandad, visibly under pressure, conceded a four and a six on the first two balls. And just like that, Zimbabwe snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

Junaid Khan’s No-Nonsense Take

Former Pakistan pacer Junaid Khan didn’t hold back. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he called out Agha’s decision-making, labeling it as “poor captaincy.”

“Poor captaincy, if Hasnain had overs left, he should’ve bowled the last over as he is more experienced rather than giving it to a youngster,” Junaid Khan wrote.

And honestly, it’s hard to argue with him. Hasnain’s experience in high-pressure situations could have made all the difference. Instead, the burden fell on Jahandad, who couldn’t handle the heat.

Champions Trophy: India and Pakistan Agree On ‘Fusion Formula’

pakistan-stance-after-india-champions-trophy-refusal-fusion-formula-pcb-to-release-additional-champions-trophy-2025-tickets-sarfaraz-ahmed-saqlain-mushtaq

The long-running tension between India and Pakistan over the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 seems to be nearing a breakthrough, thanks to the ‘fusion formula’. Yes, you read that right! After months of back-and-forth negotiations, both cricketing giants have reportedly agreed to a hybrid model for hosting ICC tournaments through 2027.

This is huge news for cricket fans worldwide, especially those who’ve been longing to see India and Pakistan face off without the usual host-nation drama. Let’s break it down.

Read More: Shoaib Akhtar Claims Virat Kohli Is ‘Dying’ to Play In Pakistan

“Fusion Formula” Broke Champions Trophy Deadlock

It all started with the 2025 ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, which Pakistan is set to host. India’s refusal to play matches in Pakistan created a stalemate. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), unwilling to compromise entirely, proposed a “fusion formula.”

The idea? It’s similar to hybrid hosting model, but with a twist. For the Champions Trophy, India’s matches would be shifted to a neutral venue. Dubai, to be specific. Pakistan, in return, demanded the same treatment for ICC events hosted in India, ensuring a level playing field for both sides.

After some intense discussions, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly agreed to this arrangement. And just like that, the wheels of diplomacy started turning.

What This Means for Upcoming ICC Events?

The fusion formula isn’t just a one-off solution for the Champions Trophy. It’s set to apply to all ICC events through 2027.

Here’s a quick look at what’s on the horizon:

  • Women’s ODI World Cup (October 2024): Hosted by India. Expect Pakistan’s matches at neutral venues.
  • Men’s T20 World Cup (2026): Co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with a similar arrangement for Pakistan’s games.
  • Champions Trophy (2025): A split between Pakistan and the UAE, with Dubai hosting India’s matches.

This arrangement ensures both nations can participate in ICC events without compromising their respective stances.

While the agreement is a significant step forward, the PCB is pushing for assurances from the ICC. They want everything documented, right down to the fine print, to avoid any last-minute hiccups.

“The PCB needs this arrangement to be part of the host agreement,” said a source close to the negotiations. Fair enough, given the unpredictable nature of cricket politics.

Sure, there’s still some paperwork to be done, and the ICC Board meeting on December 7 will be crucial.

Fans Find Errors in Taylor Swift’s Self-Published Book

Fans Find Errors in Taylor Swift's Self-Published Book

Taylor Swift thrilled her fans with the release of The Eras Tour Book alongside a vinyl and CD version of The Tortured Poets Department. Eager Swifties queued as early as 3 a.m. at stores like one in Lynchburg, Virginia, to snag these much-anticipated items for themselves.

Fans Share Mixed Reactions to Book Design and Details

Following the release, fans nicknamed the book ‘The Errors Tour Book’ after spotting a few typos and layout quirks. For instance, the song “This is Me Trying” from Folklore was mistakenly listed as “This is Me Rying,” while the Evermore track “Gold Rush” was merged into one word instead of two.

Some Swifties also noted that the layout made certain photos hard to appreciate. The book had images spread across two pages hiding key details. A few even pointed out that some pictures seemed a little blurry, leading them to believe that they might be stills from The Eras Tour concert film rather than high-resolution images.

Fans Respond

One person wrote: “I don’t understand how this could happen, her entire public persona is crafted around being a thoughtful and meticulous writer.”

Another suggested: “I think there was a deadline… I honestly feel like they could have waited and done it properly after the eras tour ended… it’s kinda crazy to release this before the eras tour ended. Felt rushed.”

Why these Errors Might have Happened

Publishing experts believe a rushed publishing schedule could be to blame for these small imperfections. Jessika Hazelton, a creative director at The Troy Book Makers, shared her thoughts. “For something like this ‘Eras Tour Book,’ I suspect there was a tight deadline to get the book out in time for the holidays, and it was not looked over as thoroughly as it might have been,” she said.

Despite the small mistakes, Swifties are excited to own a piece of Taylor Swift’s incredible year. Many see the Eras Tour Book as a special keepsake that captures the magic of her journey. It will make a cherished addition to their collections.
