The 5th Hum Awards were held over the last weekend. The glamour filled night was full of ups and downs that have created a frenzy over social media.

The hosts Yasir Hussain and Ahmed Ali Butt had a so called, ‘slip-of-tongue’ that was slammed by celebrities and the public at large over the internet.

Another particular incident took place when veteran Pakistani drama actor, Naumaan Ijaz received an award for his outstanding performance in super-hit TV show, ‘Sang-e-Marmar.’ As he came on stage to claim the award he repeated a popular dialogue by his character which was later on misunderstood by a lot of people.

The veteran actor at the Hum Awards 2017!

A Pakistani media outlet used the acclaimed actor’s dialogue and apparently forgot to add that it was not a statement but a phrase that Ijaz has repeated from his show.

Naumaan Ijaz decided to speak up against all the rumors and took to Instagram to reach out to his fans and followers!

Here’s what he had to say about the whole misunderstanding!

“This dialogue is from my drama ‘Sang e marmar’ jo me nay hum awards me repeat kiye just waha baithi audience ko hansanay k liye. Mera maqsad auratzaad ko neecha dikhana hergiz nahi tha. [I only repeated a dialogue from my recent play, i had no intention of hurting or disrespecting women!]”

The Sang-e-Marmar star finally added,

“In the last just want to say, “khudara, khudara logon me pyar taqseem karain na k nafratain” [For God’s sake please don’t spread hate amongst people instead spread love!]”
