The Hum Awards 2017 was a grand affair that was attended by all the top celebrities in Pakistan’s showbiz industry. The women dazzled in beautiful bespoke gowns while the men were styled in dapper suits. Although the awards were held in Pakistan, we spotted the majority of the attendees in western attire.

Pseudo Muslim scholar Hamza Ali Abbasi, who won the award for Best Actor Award Popular for Mann Mayal, expressed his views on the dressing of people who were present at the Awards ceremony.

Hamza himself was dressed in a simple black ‘Shalwar Kameez’ and waistcoat which in his perspective represents Pakistan and its culture. Apparently, somebody at the show criticized his dressing and Abbasi left no stone unturned to hit back at the taunting remark!

The Mann Mayal star is a true patriot and said:

“Pakistani Award Shows are not just a celebration but also a representation of our culture. Let’s bring back Pakistani culture in fashion and i would love to see award shows with only Pakistani music and content.”

Recently, veteran actress, host, and performer Noor Bukhari was the first one to point out the missing ‘Pakistani’ culture at the Lux Style Awards.

Noor slammed actresses for dressing up in western gowns. She said:

“No one wanted to look like a Pakistani they were all looking like Bollywood stars, I am sure the show must have rocked every one last night but I got very disappointed by the actresses wearing such dresses because all these ladies play very bhenji roles in Drama’s “Seedhi Saadhi, Bholi Bhaali”.”

Looks like the Hamza isn’t the only one talking about the missing Pakistani culture at Award shows held in the country.
