Ever wanted to know what space tasted like? Well, even if that’s not on top of your flavor list, now you can find out with Coca-Cola releasing a Starlight flavor.

The limited-edition flavor is currently available only in the United States. According to Coca-Cola, it has “notes reminiscent of stargazing around a campfire, as well as a cooling sensation that evokes the feeling of a cold journey to space”.

Starlight Coke

Starlight Coke comes in both sugar-free and original form. The reddish color is described as a “dash of the unexpected” by the company.

Coca-Cola have high hopes when it comes to the impact this new flavour will have, with a press release from the brand describing it aiming “to bring space to life with one sip” and “capturing some of the mystery and essence of what we love about what lies beyond our atmosphere”.

“Starlight was created with the vision that in a world of infinite possibilities somewhere in our universe, another kind of Coca-Cola, another way of connecting with each other might exist,” says Coca-Cola.

Twitter Reacts

The new flavor of Coca-Cola doesn’t seem to fit the imagination of Twitter. Whoever has got their hands on the drink has a thing or two, to say the least.

“My prediction is that #starlight coke is going to be astronaut ice cream flavored cream soda.” One user wrote.

“Coke Zero sugar, “starlight” limited edition: Eh? Like cream soda, caramel flavor. My first impression of smelling it was cotton candy. Weird (slight) aftertaste. I’ll get the regular Diet Coke next time, but I’ll drink these on the meantime.” Another wrote.

Starlight will hit the stores on Feb. 21. Available at local grocery or convenience store in 20-ounce bottles and 10-packs of 7.5-ounce mini cans.

Starlight will be available for about six months, according to Coca-Cola. The company is also planning to launch merchandise to support the new flavor in the market. More flavors are expected to be released under the Creations line, however, no details are released as of yet.
