In light of Hazrat Imam Hussain’s Chehlum 2018, Karachi police have proposed the suspension of cellular devices and banning of pillion riding in the city.
Due to security issues prevailing in the city, strict measures are taken every year during Chehlum to maintain peace in the metropolis.
Sindh Police is yet to roll out an official notification regarding the matter. Timings for the mobile phone suspension have also not been revealed.
According to ARY News, authorities are leaving no stone unturned to implement strict security measures. What’s more, the Sindh government might also call for special security by Pakistan Army.
The provincial government stated:
“In order for peaceful observance of the Chehlum’s processions and majalis, it was decided to seek to help hand from the federal institutions”
The law enforcement agencies have also reviewed the security plan for the Majalis and mourning processions that will be held during the day.
The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain is observed on the 20th of the Islamic month of Safar and it will fall on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.
All schools and colleges across the province will also remain closed on the occasion.
