Another day, another propaganda. This time, it doesn’t even have good cinematography or graphics to make up for the lack of research.
In fact, the CGI is so bad we can’t help but feel bad for all the waste of budget that could have been used in something much more productive, maybe like a better defence system to save themselves from global embarrassment again.
Yes, we’re talking about yet another Indian anti-Pakistan film: Border 2. After Dhurandhar, it seems India has stumbled upon a new formula: rebranding consistently flopping actors through jingoistic narratives. This time, it’s Varun Dhawan after Akshaye Khanna got viral for playing Rehman Dakait.
Hate, after all, sells better at their box office.
But the real question is: how long can that strategy last?
Border 2: A Movie on the 1971 Indo-Pak War
The teaser for Border 2 dropped on Tuesday and made it clear the film is set against the 1971 Indo-Pak war, with Sunny Deol leading the cast alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty.
Deol looks like he is returning in the same larger-than-life space, while Dhawan is shown as an Indian Army officer, Shetty as part of the Indian Navy, and Dosanjh as an Indian Air Force pilot.
Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana are also part of the cast, appearing opposite the male leads.
The teaser starts with the same cliché: overly patriotic dialogue delivery where Sunny Deol’s voice plays in the background, “From where ever you come, you will find an Indian soldier in front of you” while the rest of the cast members get introduced.
If the CGI wasn’t so cartoonish, maybe the teaser could have been much more bearable, as we are already very immune to the same typical “based on true events” fictional propaganda scripts.
After all, fake narrative building and rewriting of facts is the only war they are winning because when one has nothing authentic to state, they start making their own versions of “the truth.”
Patriotism or Comedy? Audience’s Reaction
As the teaser started going viral and got labelled a “spiritual sequel” to JP Dutta’s original, people on social media weren’t exactly impressed.
A lot of the reactions called out the same old narrative being repackaged again, just with a fresh cast and louder background score. Some even questioned Diljit’s choice to be part of it, saying his recent music has been average and that this move could cost him Pakistani fans.
Others mocked the storyline outright and said the script needs rewriting because it looks like another propaganda-heavy film with no interest in actual history.

A few even joked that Bollywood will probably mess up the timeline too and sneak in fighter jets like Rafale or Tejas, even though those came decades after 1971 and have been in the news for very different reasons recently.
Plenty of people dismissed the teaser entirely, calling it another expected flop and pointing out how Bollywood has been disappointing for years, so now it is leaning harder on hate and war branding to create hype.
Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with JP Films.
