While the demand for vehicles has increased in the growing automotive sector within Pakistan, the number of sales have dropped!
This is because previously, the Government of Pakistan has placed a restriction, which barred non-filers from being able to purchase new vehicles from the markets.
Given that hardly 20% of the population pays tax and the devaluation of the Rupee to Dollar, sales fell by 15% in May 2018.

This data was shared by Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), which reported that total sales, including commercial vehicles, recorded at 21,813 units.
While this restriction has been implied by the government to encourage tax filing, the auto industry is now facing a loss after months of growth. According to analysts, nearly 60% vehicle buyers in Pakistan are non-filers, while only about 40% are filers.
