Disney Animation Studios continues to release massive hits one after another. Whether it’s popular films like Zootopia or recent pop hits like Encanto, animated Disney films are still incredibly popular. When you put them together with the billion-dollar success of films like Frozen II, the last few years have been incredible for Disney.
Similarly, Disney is gearing up for the end of the year with some amazing releases. While some of the anticipated movies include the return of fan favorites including Avatar and Hocus Pocus, others are introducing us to brand new characters and stories.
Recently, Disney announced a lineup of what is next to come at the D23 expo. Disney and Pixar have unveiled the upcoming lineup of movies and television series for the next few years.
Here’s what to look out for in theatres in 2022.
1. Hocus Pocus 2
The live-action comedy ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ is a haunting sequel to the 1993 Halloween cult classic which brings back the delightfully wicked Sanderson sisters. A teenager discovers she might be a witch on her 16th birthday. Naturally, she lights the black flame candle and all hell breaks loose (literally), bringing the Sanderson Sisters back to Salem once again.

2. Disenchanted
Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey reprise their roles in this sequel to Enchanted which now finds Giselle trying to navigate motherhood and living a normal life. But with a bit of magic, and Maya Rudolph playing the villain, classic fairytale shenanigans ensue.

3. Avatar – The Way Of Water
Avatar was considered a phenomenon back when it was released in 2009. After almost thirteen years James Cameron is back with the sequel, Avatar – The way of water putting fans into a frenzy. Known for its extreme cinematography, extensive visual effects, and underwater filming the way of water is a highly anticipated one on the list.

4. Strange World
The Clades are a family of explorers famous around the globe. However, after stumbling upon a strange new world that’s full of danger and adventure, the family will need to learn to work through their differences to survive their most treacherous expedition yet. The cast includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Jaboukie Young-White, Dennis Quaid, and Lucy Liu, and is an animated piece in the making.
