The Chinese technology company Xiaomi has unveiled its new, large-screened Mi Max smartphone as well as a new version of its operating system, MIUI 8, based on Android.
The 6.44-inch screen puts the smartphone among the larger “phablets” on the market. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge’s display measures 5.5 inches.

The Mi Max comes in three configurations: With a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor, three gigabytes of RAM and 32GB of internal storage; Snapdragon 650 with 3GB RAM and 64GB capacity; and Snapdragon 652 plus 4GB RAM and 128GB.
The battery holds a charge of 4,850mAh and the phone weighs 230 grams. Also included are a fingerprint sensor and a 16-megapixel camera.
Set to go on sale next week in China, prices start at 1,499 yuan (about $230).
