Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has postponed his official visit to Russia due to the prevailing regional and internal situation. The Prime Minister’s Office of Pakistan confirmed the decision, stating that although the visit was strategically important for strengthening bilateral ties, current developments require immediate attention at home.
حالیہ علاقائی و داخلی صورتحال کے پیش نظر وزیرِ اعظم نے مشاورت کے بعد اپنے دورہء روس کو مؤخر کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے۔

The visit, reportedly scheduled from 3 to 5 March, aimed to advance cooperation in energy, trade, and regional security. However, Islamabad has chosen to defer the trip after consultations, with a new date to be finalised through diplomatic channels.
The decision comes amid escalating tensions on multiple fronts. Pakistan recently launched Operation Ghazab Lil-Haq in response to cross-border incidents involving the Afghan Taliban. Security forces remain on alert along the western border, while internal stability measures have intensified nationwide.
Simultaneously, regional volatility has increased after joint strikes by the United States and Israel reportedly killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The incident triggered protests in major Pakistani cities. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi urged citizens to maintain calm and avoid actions that could disturb public order.
Given these developments, the government has prioritised national security and regional monitoring over diplomatic travel. Despite the postponement, Pakistan–Russia relations remain on track, with both sides committed to future engagement once stability improves.
