In a massive win for Karachi’s transport infrastructure, the Government of Sindh is officially inaugurating the highly anticipated Shahrah-e-Bhutto Expressway today (22 May). Stretching over 39 kilometres, this signal-free, high-speed corridor is considered a landmark, game-changing initiative designed to modernise the city’s traffic flow and significantly reduce daily commuting times.
Starting from Qayyumabad, the mega-corridor cuts through major commercial hubs of Karachi, providing direct, uninterrupted access all the way to the M-9 Motorway.
Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon termed the opening “very good news” for Karachiites, asserting that commuters entering the city will save at least an hour of travel time.
“We believe it will be a game-changer in terms of traffic, as well as a big step for people’s convenience.”
Boosting Urban Mobility & Infrastructure
The expressway is just one piece of a broader infrastructure push by the Sindh government. Alongside this launch, a new road connecting Karachi Port to the Taj Haider Bridge is breaking ground this week.
With the launch of Shahrah-e-Bhutto today, Karachi takes a giant leap toward smoother regional connectivity and a much-needed relief for daily commuters.
