Jenna Ortega is now stepping into a very different space in her career as she joins French filmmaker Leos Carax for a new film, Lily May B.

The film is planned to start shooting in spring 2027, with Ortega set as the lead. The rest of the cast will be announced later, with more details expected in September.

The story sounds unusual and almost dreamlike. It follows three young people who are carrying secrets they cannot share with anyone. They meet in a strange world that feels like the end of everything and then set off together on a motorcycle. Their journey takes them through empty cities, silent highways, and deep forests, while they try to figure out who they really are and where they belong.

A Surreal World and Emotional Journey

The film is expected to mix emotion, mystery and self-discovery in a very artistic style. At its heart, it is about identity, loneliness and finding meaning in a broken world. The tone is expected to be slow, an emotional journey rather than just a traditional action story.

Leos Carax, known for his bold and experimental filmmaking, has said that he always loved cinema deeply and sees this project as part of that passion. He also mentioned that working with the 23-year-old star feels natural, praising her emotional strength and talent as an actress.

Carax is no stranger to unique storytelling. His 2021 film Annette, starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard, was widely discussed for its unusual style and won him Best Director at Cannes.

Jenna Ortega’s Rise in Hollywood

Ortega has also shared that her journey in acting was not always easy. In a recent interview, she said there was a time when she almost gave up acting completely. After working in children’s television, she felt uncertain about her future and even considered quitting the industry.

Things changed when she landed a role in the series You. The Miller’s Girl actress said the experience on set made her realise how much she loved acting and pushed her to continue.

Since then, the actress became Hollywood’s most in-demand young star, with major roles in films like Scream VI and Beetlejuice.

With Lily May B, she now steps into a more artistic and experimental phase of storytelling, marking another important moment in her career.
