Following the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 debacle last year, the company had to tread through some rough waters.

The general public perception being that they might discontinue their Note line completely. However, Samsung has held it’s ground and is back with an all new addition to the Note series, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that is set to redeem for the loss of its predecessor.

The Note 8 is a step up from the S8 and S8+ smartphones, complete with the Infinity Display. With a 6.3-in Super AMOLED Quad HD+ (2960 x 1440) display curving on the edges.

Other changes include a dual camera setup, which has found its way in Samsung’s ecosystem. They have assured that it really packs a punch with 12 MP dual pixel sensors with OIS in both, and one lens is a 2x optical zoom at f/2.4 aperture. The cameras on the back use a wide-angle lens. Moreover, live focus is now a prominently displayed feature.

However, the new feature in the S Pen of Live message really sets it apart, which records the user’s path to writing a short message into an animated GIF. Effects like sparkles and neon lighting add more flair to the GIF.

Other specifications include a Snapdragon 835/Exynos 8895 processor, 6 GB RAM and 64/128/256 GB of internal storage. Coming to the battery, Note 8 has a 3,300 mAh unit with Quick Charge 2.0 support as well as Qi wireless charging in select markets.

Color Variants

The phone is currently available in four colors: black, blue, grey and gold.
