Pakistan Maritime Security Agency’s (PMSA) will soon be getting six Maritime Patrol Vessels (MPVs). China will be granting two large 1,500 ton and four medium sized 600-ton MPVs and now the images of Pakistan Maritime’s largest patrol vessel have surfaced on the internet.
Already, PMSA has received three out of the four 600 ton MPVs namely:
- PMSS Hingol,
- PMSS Basol,
- PMSS Darya-e-Dasht
Pakistan’s Largest Maritime Patrol Vessel Specifications
The 15000 Ton MPV is:
- of 95 Meters Length
- has 2 engines to travel at speed of 26 knots
- has a flight deck to accommodate light or medium utility helicopters
Roles
600 ton and 1,500-ton MPVs will be used for:
- Maritime Security Operations
- patrolling
- surveillance of EEZ (exclusive economic zone)
- intelligence gathering
- policing operations against asymmetric threats
- pollution control
- disaster relief
